I look at many fashion videos on youtube I relate to yours more than anyone else, I am an 80 old female I can wear every outfit or idea you promote. I like your site very much your style is timeless.
Love the black/white pairing. I think it is timeless and so very chic. This is my go-to pallet when in a rush. Thank you so much for your wonderful content. Always learn new ways to work with my closet pieces.
I am a little late to the game, but I am so glad I found your channel. I love how you put outfits together so effortlessly and how we can wear it in real-life.
I love how you talked through the accessories choice for the gray slacks/sweater outfit. The idea of balancing the weight of the pieces in the outfit was, to me, a new way of thinking about them. Thanks!
This was very inspiring. “Little tweaks that makes a tired look have more style and finishes a look.” Exactly what we need. The proportions you explained was also very helpful. Your sensibilities are similar to mine. Classic and stylish, modest and still pretty. This was a wonderful video. This all makes a difference and helps. Thank you. The all black look with belted dress and Tall boots looked great on you, and was my favorite look on you.❤️
Thanks Alyssa for this great video. I just want to say that at my age (68), I am constantly being told to add bigger and bolder accessories. And even at 5’7” (tall in my younger years, not so much now), I have never liked a bunch of jewelry etc. I believe less is more and finally have found some bloggers who feel the same. You included! You have shown that you don’t have to look like a walking jewelry store and quite frankly that’s exactly what I think makes old women look old. Too much stuff! I love, love, love your esthetic although I live a much more colorful life. But am learning to combine those colors with neutrals to make everything more chic and elegant. Once again kudos and thanks!
I’ve relaxed my aversion to black and white in the last couple of years. I waited tables throughout college and wore black and white as a uniform. I love your content so, so much!
I did learn something or actually saw something new to me. I am a belt person, wearing belts with pants, jeans, skirts, dresses... but you show me with your grey outfit that sometimes the belt is not only not necessary but too much!!!! From now on I will definitely double check my outfits with that angle in mind....
How often do you bring new or new to you items into your closet? I feel I keep finding great “basics” into my closet and the basics are becoming a lot!
I had the same issue watching all of these minimalist videos. They all talk about great basics but by having all these basics my wardrobe felt basic, and I'm anything but! A few are good to have , but duplicates I feel wasteful. How many basic things do I need? That's the question you need to ask yourself. Surrounded by black t-shirts and jeans and white button ups , I feel very stunted . It took a lot of money for me to realize that. What clothes look like to you and to me is going to be different. I guess you'll just have to be inventive with how you style your pieces .
I think it depends on what you already have and what your staples are. If you wear basics all the time and those pieces are staples in your wardrobe, then having lots of multiples would help lessen the need to do laundry. Lol. But if you feel like you have enough basics, then maybe create a wish list of gaps in your wardrobe you’d like to fill. Then you can budget some money each month to purchasing items that will fill those gaps.
@@BubblyViolin11 Mandy, your advice is very practical and to the point. Basics are just basics. Most of our clothes should be what we like to wear along with the basics. 😊
Thank you so much! I love your approach to styling and this offered so many great tips. As someone who has been a pretty plain dresser, you inspire me to try a few ideas… maybe even before consigning something I think I’m not wearing. Your best tip I use all the time is the shirt sleeve fold where you make a big long fold and then fold over that in half… love that little hack!

Thank you so much for watching everyone! A few questions I've been getting: I am wearing a size Medium in Tailor Shirt - Proper fit. I normally wear a small/medium depending on how I like things to fit and this has a more oversized fit. I also own a small in a Power of My People Proper fit and it is just a smidge tighter but still has an oversized look and plenty of room for the bust. I was wondering the same thing. I love crossover bags but was wondering what that one would look like just over your shoulder. Maybe it makes more sense in person.
She styled shoulder bag as a crossbody bag but it clearly wasn't manufactured to be worn that way. Imagine trying to access any contents without having to take it off, then put it back on, over, over, and over again the entire day.
The wrap of the shirt is excellent 👍 the tips really prove that less is more. Since I am on the short side, playing with accessories and color work well for me. Please do more of this type of video. Sometimes I forget such easy tips ❤️
… I especially like your tip to hold back on the belt if the purse has details. I am guilty of not looking at my outfit with my purse before heading out of the house, so I am sure I have overdone it many times!
Great styling tips!! I checked out the shirt.....cost is more than my clothing budget for the entire YEAR!!😲 And that is why I do not buy from sustainable brands, the cost is just prohibitive. Instead, I tend to thrift quality brands from my local thrift store....
A white shirt is a basic piece and usually gets a lot of wear. So buying a well-constructed, sustainably made shirt is an investment, but over time, the cost per wear becomes incredibly low. I would prefer to buy only a couple well-made pieces per year, knowing that I will have them for many years. It's also good that there are people supporting Canadian businesses that have a sustainable model. But second-hand is great for high quality on a budget too. 👍
@@makeitvanilla6313 I don't wear white. It looks terrible on me. 😆 Even my wedding dress was not white. So I would not get use from such a garment.... I understand cost per wear and owning quality pieces, but I find (if I am patient) I can thrift or buy quality pieces at a fraction of the price (often new with tags). I also only buy a few, select thrifted pieces each year. Each of my thrifted pieces gets worn regularly for years as I keep a very small wardrobe with a slow turnover rate. I also prefer to buy local, rather than buy over the internet. It keeps local people employed. It also keeps clothing out of the land fill, lowering the local environmental impact of the garment. Buying local also lowers the carbon footprint of the garment.🤷 I guess it depends on your personal resources and priorities.
Thanks for the Kibbe Body Type tip! I googled and took the test, now know why people are always surprised to learn that I'm only 5'3" tall. Even 6ft tall folks standing directly next to me don't usually realize I'm a short person. Apparently it's because I don't have small shoulders, big head, or a short waist 😊
You are simply genius. You major on the minors and help us see so much in what would normally be easily overlooked. I WILL get to attend one of your virtual styling classes before I leave this earth. Take good care!
Great tips! Love, love the gray outfit. Wonder if POMP will do petite sizing. At 5’1” am afraid the shirt would overwhelm me but do love a high-quality white shirt. Nice fabric seems to be difficult to locate. 😏
I enjoyed this and appreciate your desire to shop your closet -- and love the timelessness of everything. I was a little surprised not to see any scarves, especially for fall looks. As a knitter (and designer of said knits), I always seem to wear them when it's the slightest bit cold, and they are my primary ways of adding color, even inside. Either that, or a hand-knit sweater, usually structured to fit like a jacket.
You have such a great eye for detail, a la Italiana! One story may amuse you. One night while living in Rome, we ate outside a lovely trattoria. Near us was an Italian wearing a slim-fitting white shirt with just three buttons closed. She told many chest heaving stories with grand gestures and the waiters (and all men) hovered nearby all night. Buttons held up!
Loved the lessons on proportions, especially seeing the difference of something as simple as pushing up your sleeves. Thank you for explaining it so well, Alyssa!
Im always hoping youll show us how you do your little styling tweaks. Like how you roll your shirt sleeves, how youve made the belts that are too big for you still work. How the heck you tuck in all that fabric and not look like youre 10# heavier in the midsection. Oh! And how you tie your headscarves!! 🥰❤
Watched this twice! I learned things I am struggling with. Proportion is my nemesis😂. I really appreciated the chunky sweater with loose pants and then you left out the belt. I often struggle with the belt and you are right , in that case it was too heavy and chunky. Thank you!! This will help next time I am trying several belts and none are working ❤️
Such a great video!! Would love more videos on seeing how different shoes, etc. changes the look of the outfit, I always love your explanations because sometimes we don’t always realize why we like some thing or why we don’t. Have a great weekend!!

Nuanced stuff. I’m thinking about some over-the-knee boots and a wrapped white shirt. Also, You look fantastic and I may need a strapless bodysuit!!! Thanks, Alissa. Have a good week-whenever you read this.
Alyssa, I have a black blazer dress, as well! Mine did come with a matching belt but I switch it by another equally black belt of a different texture such as leather, patent leather, etc. However, now I know I will style it with the over-the-knee boot! Thank you!
I found you a a month or do ago and have enjoyed your videos more than any. You make so much sense to me. I have so many clothes and always nothing to wear in my eyes. I have opened my eyes to do many different things in my wardrobe now. I do not need anything and I get excited about getting a new idea. In 2020, I got rid of a lot but bought more, more basics. I am very qwerky And love different. My biggest problem with my looks are I am 5 foot 10 and 57 years old. I do not like to wear much of a heal because they make me even taller and I do not feel comfortable with myself being so tall so I am having. Hard time with the right shoe. Thanks so much for your inspiration
What a great video! These tips were actually new, practical, thoughtful and helpful. And your demonstrations really helped me understand your points. Well done!
This was super helpful for me as I am that basic dresser and I love fun shoes and fun shapes, I feel like I’m really on the right track with rebuilding my wardrobe. 😬
I've done a monochrome with either dark blue denims, a navy V-neck sweater or black slacks with a black sweater layered over a cream turtleneck to good effect :)
Great video, learned a lot. Im hoping that if POMP continues their success they can expand sizing for us short girls. The sleeves on a traditional button down are tough to shorten, even for a good tailor. At 5 ft, I know the sleeves on their shirts would be too long, even folded. Put in a good word for us! Maybe they could offer a 3/4 sleeve that would be petite friendly?
Love Love your content and enthusiasm for using what you have to look interesting and put together. This senior citizen finds you most inspiring. Any hints on hiding a less then perfect belly would be appreciated. Thank you.

Alyssa, all these tips were great! I just bought a new white shirt and your timing is perfect. It’s funny how such small tweaks can make a vast difference in style and proportion. You are a master! ❤️
Which style of POMP shirt do you have? People might say that the basics are boring, but I have trouble styling them - I don’t understand my difficulties. You can throw it on and it looks awesome.
Beautiful! Thanks Alyssa! I'm with you on appreciating a structured shirt that has weight to the fabric and great tailoring. I feel that quality fabrics speak for themselves. There's just a certain presence to them. Loved all the outfits, but the red shirt and floofy skirt combination is still my favourite. And I also really loved your all grey outfit. I love grey in the fall or spring and am also a proud owner of silver oxfords! 😎👍 Big hugs, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! 😊🍂🌺🍁

Thank you for the feedback Virginia I will put that through to them! They are wonderful:)
@@AlyssaBeltempo The shirts do look wonderful - I would love to have one!
Can you also tell me please what are those gray pants? they are so beautiful and I love the style. Thank you
Love Love your content and enthusiasm for using what you have to look interesting and put together. This senior citizen finds you most inspiring. Any hints on hiding a less then perfect belly would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hola Alysa, soy fiel seguidora tuya y me encanta tu estilo. Es diverso, elegante, clásico, atrevido, haces bonitas, cómodas y divertidos outfits. Me encanta 😘
wow Luisa! ¡Muchas gracias por las palabras amables!
Hi, Alyssa-any way you can tell us what those fantastic Levi’s are called you are wearing in outfit #2? What style/fit? Thanks!
Hi there! They're the wedgie straight in a size 27:)
Hi Alyssa. I ordered the belt you have on and it arrived this week. I needed a tan belt and I love the wide style.
ahhhh i hope you love it!!
And i love 💘the minimalism yet chic vibes altogether. Hi there 😊.
Alyssa, all these tips were great! I just bought a new white shirt and your timing is perfect. It’s funny how such small tweaks can make a vast difference in style and proportion. You are a master! ❤️
Love your informative and practical videos!
Which style of POMP shirt do you have? People might say that the basics are boring, but I have trouble styling them - I don’t understand my difficulties. You can throw it on and it looks awesome.
Love it 😀
Awesome
Hi! You inspired me to get some silver oxfords (second hand!). I love your style Alyssa. Thank you for everything you do!❤️
I was just worrying the indigo dye of the jeans was Going to get on your beautiful white shirt😞 hope not
Wonderful information!
Can you please let me know the name of the white shirt from power of the people? Your link just takes me to the site and it is sort of difficult to tell which shirt is the one that you are wearing in the video. Thank you very much. Love your videos! Just found you here on RUclips.
Hey there! It is the Tailor - Proper fit! I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos! :) Thank you for watching!
@@AlyssaBeltempo Thank you so much for your quick response...That is the one that I did order and I asked them to be sure that it was the same one that you were wearing in that video!

Alyssa, love your content! Can you tell me what is the brand of your wide legged jeans. I love them.
Thanks, Alyssa, for this very useful video content. Enjoy Autumn 2021! 🍂🍁❤️😊
What is the style name of the darker wash Levi’s denim jeans you wear with the white button down shirt?
They are the wedgie straight! I wear them in a 27 which is my typical denim size!
Hi Alyssa,
I’m traveling soon September to Nice, Antibes, Lisbon, Lagos and Paris. I am working out my outfits , but am wondering what you suggest for nail color.
Do you think pink and white is safe or can I go with a classy, deep burgundy?
What size do you wear in the Tailor shirt ? Please include your sizing info. Thank you. Really enjoying your channel's videos ! Very informative.
A Medium!
Omg, do it yourself wrap top! How cool is that?
Succinctly done. Bravo
I so love that buttondown!
I'm fairly new to your videos I love them as you keep them simple yet bold with your presentation . Great tips thank you 🌈
thank you so much Joanne!
Such a great video! Simplicity allows you to wear the clothes, and not have the clothes and accessories wear you. I have always admired your white shirt in your videos, and the ways you style it - it's absolutely perfect on you. I have been waiting a long time to invest in a white shirt - so I was so glad you linked it. I have one on order!
I just LOVE & admire your style sense!! Can I be you when I grow up?☺️
Do you have your style ideas written anywhere? You should really have a style guide BOOK…because Girl, there is a serious *need* for your knowledge! I’m definitely going to book you for a session!!
omg Myra thank you for the kind words and encouragement! I really appreciate it:)
Love your videos. Even a half tuck in my apple shape looks terrible for me. Xxx
