Nothing to do with the video really but just wanted to say in such a turbulent world your cheery smile and content is such a breath of fresh air and a source of joy in times like these thank you! 💕❤️
Getting to an 'effortless look,' for me anyway was not effortless cuz I didn't really understand how to get there. This content was great, Alyssa. Now, I think I can. Thank you.
You're the first person I've seen mention that sometimes we have to balance out our Kibbe body type. I am curvy and deemed a romantic but wow, if I go too much in that direction, it's like becoming mush! I lose all my energy! Your theories on effortlessness helped me see that I definitely want more of that in my wardrobe - and my life!
You're an actual genius. That third look with the dress and sandals; I had no clue how you were going to make it work! I doubted you for a moment with the sandals and then you added the sweater! Instant transformation! Taking that tip to the closet right now! Thank you!
Great explanations! When you swapped your cotton shirt for a cashmere sweater, I finally got the difference: My personality is softer than my physical appearance suggests, and a sweater is exactly what I choose over a structured shirt, every time. How did I not see this before? 😂 Maybe “effortless” actually depends on how well our clothing expresses our personality?
This was great, Alyssa! I love your examples at the end-especially the pencil skirt-stunning with the boots and trench! What a great way to show how an item that is not typically seen as effortless can become exactly that. (And you’re super organized planning the video so far in advance and filming before traveling!) Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Love it as always. I learn something new every time. I wish we could see more “real” women rather than models. As a mum of 4 I’m always on the go with school runs, house chores and errands and rarely go out. It would be great to see something that captures womens fashion that can deal with my every day. I’m trying to pull away from jeans and a sweatshirt. It’s so boring. X
I used to live in jeans, and I would describe my style as comfortable casual. I've moved away from jeans - not completely, there's always going to be a place for them, but a lot - and have brought in cotton chinos for warm weather and some gorgeously comfortable corduroy trousers for cool weather. And I've exchanged my baggy sweatshirts for more fitted cashmere jumpers, although you might not want to go quite that far if you have very young children. Add a brooch or a silk scarf (or both!) and it's a more polished version of the casual wardrobe I've always had. You could always try some different colours, whether you prefer the seasonal colour analysis, or just have some colours that you know you look good in. I've got a Pinterest board just for colour schemes and combinations that I can use for inspiration, so maybe you could try something similar?
I'm a mom of two (almost 5 &7) . In fall I find a soft cashmere solid scarf over a cable knit sweater or plain solid tee does the trick.. I just fling it around my neck once, losen it up so it doest feel restrictive on my neck and instantly feel polished and effortless. Same with my chealsea boots and slim straight jeans that go to the top of the ankle. I don't care any more my feet look huge (skinny ankles women's US11) . Top it all with a good fitted wool coat and I feel ready to take on the cold with a tea in a thermos
Absolutely loved the outfits in this video Alyssa. It never ceases to amaze me how swapping a few elements such as shoes, bag, jacket can completely transform the overall look. This is where I struggle...I picture an outfit in my mind but it often just misses the mark. I need to spend more time looking at what I have and then fine tuning the looks. Thank you, you are looking so well and relaxed Portugal obviously agrees with you 😊 😉
I love this, I have never cared for outfits that look overly fussy and like they took a week to plan out. You strike the perfect balance between looking relaxed, effortless, but still polished 💜💜
Effortless is what I always do because it's me. I always enjoy the content and I'd love more of it. I'd also love to hear more about your take on Kibbe body types.
Great to watch you and your inputs. Also the effort of video putting together , timing / explanation with the pictures / video on other side is really good . It's like sitting in a class to learn and not just entertain 🙂 . 😘🤗
Love the whole idea of "effortless" dressing. Thanks for showing us some examples to help us recreate this look. Now I am thinking, perhaps some of the things in my closet can go because they're uncomfortable, or to style them is too much of an effort.
Just stumbled across your videos. Loving them! I love to find pieces that I love the look and feel good in them. It's fun to watch your videos and then look in my own closet to see what I can come up with.
Alyssa, you inspire me so much! I used to buy every Trend out there even if it wouldn't fit my personal style just to look cool! And in the past 3 years after turning 40 I see a change of giving up of that fantasy self and keeping and buying the items that truly look beautiful on me and suit my style! I just wanted to share that you are the big responsible for that! Love your videos love the way you talk keep doing what you are doing!! Love from Tel Aviv❤️💋
Omg, this is just up my street! I am another that fell down a Kibbe rabbit hole, I'm pretty sure I am a natural, maybe even a flamboyant natural. I certainly need clothes to be comfortable and functional, as well as look good too. I also think effortless often means I've put the effort in sourcing the clothes, so that they seem effortless to put on because they work well.
I know we are always living for your hair BUT I think it bears repeating: your. hair. That flip is the epitome of effortless! Paying close attention to your video points today and going to experiment with a few looks today! Thank you for all your practical, inspiring lessons.
@@AlyssaBeltempo It WORKED! I played yesterday and came out with a look that came off as effortless Japanese. You know the one: utilitarian pieces that softened yet had great dimensions? I wore navy kitten heels and silver intricate details to add feminine balance. I would have never put that together before, I felt so confident. Thank you for the inspiration!
My daughters in Italy on her honeymoon right now and I sent her some of your videos. I always learn something from you. I am a classic fashionista myself, since high school where I was awarded ‘best dressed.’ lol And I watch a lot of them here on RUclips. You’re among the very best. Now, at pushing 70, just when I don’t think there’s anything new to learn, you bring it! I enjoy and appreciate your channel so much.
It takes a lot of effort to look effortless. I really like the first look where you switched out the button down shirt to the cream colored cashmere sweater. Not only it is more comfortable, effortless, it is also more feminine. The pencil skirt with boots look gives me fresh idea how to wear pencil skirt in more relaxed way. Good ideas as always, Alyssa!
Great content as always! I love the wide-leg pants and white T-shirt look you're wearing. Definitely one I will be trying out as we move into spring in the Uk. Love the shape of that t-shirt - crew necks don't really suit me as I have quite square shoulders and a v breaks up the line and makes my neck look longer, so I'm always on the look out for great ones, as I wear them so much 😄
Aha! It all makes sense now. I understand why flowing dresses and big sweaters are anathema to me. As a small person made of circles, I would drown in a long dress with sweater tied around the neck. Thank you for such a clear visual.
Thank you for a another great video! I watch many fashion videos and really love them all. But after watching your videos, its hard to explain. Just feels like I have learned so much more. You are a such beautiful person.
I really needed this lesson! I currently lean more towards androgynous / tomboy-ish pieces and even though I love every single piece I am wearing, the overall masculine look tends to “drown” me… I need to remember add more fitted or feminine pieces to balance out my outfit more 🖤
You're one of my favorite slow fashion girls, and your videos inspire mine a lot! Love the way you broke down the theory part of effortless outfits. Concepts that are notable, yet hard to describe. You put it into words perfectly 👏 Now let me go and shop my wardrobe because I'm inspired! Thank you for your content 🤎
I loved to see the impact if the little style changes you made to outfits! It’s amazing how something slightly awkward is transformed into totally chic by these little changes.
What an excellent video, and the examples from your own closet made your points very easy to understand! You’ve inspired me! Thanks so much. You make these concepts effortless to apply.
I so enjoy and learn so much from watching you experiment and work things through on camera. I’m a visual learner and seeing the process and differences in real time is incredibly helpful. And your clarity and cheeriness are the cherry on top!
I’m so glad you’ve brought up Kibbe! I love him. He has entirely changed my understanding of my style. You are a 100% flamboyant natural, not dramatic (please notice how good you look in bulky sweaters, and different colored pants vs tops. Dramatics would look unkempt in the way you wear opposing colors and forms, and you don’t. You always look chic.)
Please make more of these Effortless Style videos. I don’t know about other places, but in warm coastal climates women want to be able to leave the house and the lounge wear behind while still remaining functional, cool and comfortable out in public. They want to be non frumpy and feminine without looking like they are trying too hard. Fabric is the most important (neither synthetic, scratchy or hot). This flattering yet functional style is not promoted in the fashion industry and we need more influencers like you to lead the way.
Great video! I had a particular style, when working, but now I'm retired it has changed frequently. I have loved all your videos and now enjoy different combinations. My Son can't work me out and it makes him smile as much as me. A big THANK YOU Alyssa. X
All these examples are great reminders of clothes I own. I can relate to the outfits shown at 6:40, and especially where the model with the scarf and flats is sporting a nice pair of sunglasses. Those ‘small’ touches bring the whole look together . ❤️🇨🇦
Terrific video! You broke the effortness (is that a word?) into content/categories that made sense, and your examples were perfect. It’s a difficult concept to really explain and you did a magnificent job! Thank you.
Such great information and suggestions. You really nailed the Kibbe scale for me. I totally get now why some things work for me and other looks that I love do not.
I am recovering from knee surgery, and can't wait to start playing in my closet again! Meanwhile, I just saw you on you tube last week, and have watched several segments already. I am learning a lot, and love your style. I think I have pinned down my 3 words...quality, casual, fun!
I am really liking these types of videos. Trying to not shop so much is made much easier when you can create the feel you are going for within your own closet.
Your eye for swaping things out is effortless! I love this and want to see more! Also, to see your entire closet would be amazing. How often do you declutter and replenish, and do you have a monthly fashion budget?
Just wanted to say thank you for including models of all sizes in your examples. It’s hard for me to imagine myself in outfits when they are modelled on a different sized body to mine so this is really helpful!
Yay! Alyssa's new vid! I'm so in for it. - as I plunk down at Starbucks and open my laptop. Sip, sip. Thanks, Alyssa! Hope you're doing well! Have a wonderful week ahead yourself! (hi from Vancouver)
This is helpful to creating a put together but effortless look , thank you so much!! I struggle to not look angular so softening my look is important to me.
What a great video and always presented with a lovely smile. I especially liked the difference in the last example switching the denim jacket with the jumper .... wow that was so simple but brilliant ..... thank you for the inspiration
Hey Alyssa, your content has helped me have a more meaningful and minimal wardrobe. I loved this new topic on being effortless. Wishing you more success. - greetings from the Philippines
Such a thoughtful video - as always. Best style content on RUclips. Look forward to your work every week. Love the incorporation of Kibbe into this one!
You are so sympathic, your voice and styling tips good for effortless styling. I've developed my own style over the years . Do not really follow trends , clothes my body, age and lifestyle. I like your videos , thank you. Greetings from Vienna Austria.😍🌺
I was very interested by your video! effortlessly chic has always been a mystery to me. I always tend to try too hard and really admire the way some women look so chic "naturally". You helped by pinpointing some elements of this effortless look. I love the side by side of 2 similar outfits with one being definitely more effortless and I think being the more "chic"!!!!
Amazing!!!! I'll be watching this video again to take notes on structure, texture and contrast, those are essential elements that I often overlook when putting an outfit together. Thank you for the amazing content ♡♡
I honestly feel like this could be a series! It's so helpful, especially with the examples. Also... i'm really not an expert by any means but are you sure you're a dramatic? You seem so much like a natural to me 🤔
I’m a dramatic too and take my cue from your more structured looks, which you pull off amazingly by the way. I’m looking to go beyond my usual jeans and T-shirt outfits which is hard in a tropical climate. Love this video
Alyssa, thank you for including all sizes in your examples. I’m a plus size and that helped me visualize your tips. Thank you. Do you ever wear hats? I feel like you have a perfect look for hats. 🧢👒💕
I really enjoyed your video. Effortless style has been an enigma for me so I loved the break down. My style is not effortless. It’s definitely more structured. My idea of easy style, for me, is Audrey Hepburn with a simple tops and pants. I use shoes and accessories for interest. I actually liked all of the ways you styled your clothes but I agree it’s really a matter of personality. The after looks were definitely you and looked fantastic. Your first ones were more me. Loved it all ❤️
Great video with lots of ideas to become more effortless yet elegant. I would have put you as a flamboyant natural - you can carry a bit of drama but you tend to go with oversize or at least plenty of ease (not in your blazers but definitely in your sweaters). Since you’re in Portugal, what about a video on how Portuguese women dress. I’m guessing they’re a bit more elegant and put together (like most European countries) than us westerners, but love your take on it.
Thank you! Yes, I've had a few people say I'm a flamboyant natural which is so helpful and interesting! I"m going to take the test again and see if my answers change. great suggestion! Working on it!
Wow, this was so educational thank you! I'm going to watch it again and study it. I like it when you thoroughly explained the looks and the choices & changes you make.
These were great examples! Now I know some outfits work fore me. Can you go over the body/ style types you were talking about. You said that yours was angular and more dramatic. I would like to understand better 😌
Nothing to do with the video really but just wanted to say in such a turbulent world your cheery smile and content is such a breath of fresh air and a source of joy in times like these thank you! 💕❤️
oh thank you for the kind words Ann Marie xx
Couldn't agree more 💕
Agreed!
Absolutely!
❤❤❤
Can you expand on your examples of the Kibbe body system and how structured versus unstructured pieces suit people on the other end of the spectrum?
Getting to an 'effortless look,' for me anyway was not effortless cuz I didn't really understand how to get there. This content was great, Alyssa. Now, I think I can. Thank you.
ooh so glad it was helpful for you!

so glad Jamie thank you for watching!
Yes! Finally, a Kibbe statement that makes sense to me! Thanks Alyssa.
So this is why I need structured clothing. Lightbulb moment!
You're an actual genius. That third look with the dress and sandals; I had no clue how you were going to make it work! I doubted you for a moment with the sandals and then you added the sweater! Instant transformation! Taking that tip to the closet right now! Thank you!
ahhh that is a very generous compliment - I am no genius but I am so glad this inspired you to play in your closet! xx

Soooo informative. I"m always fussing about how to NOT be fussy in my outfit. You break things down so well. Thank you!
There is a really fine line between effortless and careless. This video helped me see "why" as well as "how" to come down on the effortless side.
Great to watch you and your inputs. Also the effort of video putting together , timing / explanation with the pictures / video on other side is really good . It's like sitting in a class to learn and not just entertain 🙂 . 😘🤗

Wow Kimberly thank you so much! I'm really glad you find my content helpful. Hello from Portugal! xx
I'm so happy I found you. You have made it acceptable to shop at thrift stores which then makes women more generous in their donations. 🤩

ahhhaa YES - I am retaking the test- many of you have identified me as a flamboyant natural and I feel like that is more correct! xx
Such sensible tips! And love your naturally upbeat tone.
Thank you Renata!
Loved this video Alyssa! You’ve really broken down the thought process so I could follow it and learn! Thanks so much.
That belt is everything!!! Love it!!
Great video as always. Thank you for being size inclusive in your examples,
I’m a dramatic too and take my cue from your more structured looks, which you pull off amazingly by the way. I’m looking to go beyond my usual jeans and T-shirt outfits which is hard in a tropical climate. Love this video
Thank you!!! for the insight on considering Kibbe body type - and for the street style pics of different body types, races, etc. ☺️
I follow the Carol Tuttle body style which works on your energy and movement. This works for me
Great, content, Alyssa. Will watch again.
One of the best videos you've ever made - love it so much
Alyssa, thank you for including all sizes in your examples. I’m a plus size and that helped me visualize your tips. Thank you. Do you ever wear hats? I feel like you have a perfect look for hats. 🧢👒💕
Love your description of balance as it aligns with effortless!

I actually liked all of the ways you styled your clothes but I agree it’s really a matter of personality. The after looks were definitely you and looked fantastic. Your first ones were more me. Loved it all ❤️
You are a champ at the effortless yet put together look. Love it. My favorite was the black turtle neck dress look.

Thanks for the great video. Your videos are so educational and great for those that were not born with the ability to put outfits together.
These were great examples! Now I know some outfits work fore me. Can you go over the body/ style types you were talking about. You said that yours was angular and more dramatic. I would like to understand better 😌
