Yes, I find self-promotion very attractive. Just like I find women with shaved heads very attractive. Not to mention that I find women in bed with the Nazis or Jihadi very very very attractive.
I smiled throughout this whole video. My grand-mere was born in Grenoble. She lived to be 100 and was sharp as a tack until the day she died. She lived alone in her house. She went to the beauty shop every Thursday to get her hair done. She wore red nail polish every day her whole life. She never owned a pair of pants. She wore a dress and stockings and sensible shoes and special jewelry that was sentimental to her. Her dressing table was magic - skin creams, scented sachets and powders, lipstick, powder and rouge, and lovely perfumes. When she passed, the funeral home called me and said I needed to correct her age on her death certificate. They couldn't believe she was 100 because her skin was so beautiful and smooth. She was indeed the epitome of a French woman!
Very nice!~ My Gram was born in Alsace and although she did not live as long as your Gram, she sounds so similar in behavior and appearance to yours. When she passed her skin was still porcelain-like and only had 3 visible lines across her forehead. Vive La France!

This is such lovely wisdom to share, Alice. In my 20’s, I was so lucky to be a cosmetic buyer for an American department store. I love the mention of not using contours. I don’t contour either and I think a focus on lipstick, tidy brows and curled lashes is enough to elevate a look in my opinion :) Do you still contour with eye shadow? Or any contours at all like under cheek bones? Or zero contouring? And what about highlighting? I still like to highlight the inner eye or brow bones sometimes. And sometimes do eye shadow contours like darker in the crease etc. But I don’t bronze or contour my face.
Enjoyed this video Alice. Would love you to share more about your own transformation between living in the US and France - you were 'tanned' with blonde hair and now paler with dark hair. Obviously the latter is more chic and it would be fascinating to hear your thoughts on the transformation, the advice you received to get rid of the blonde etc. And in particular, some more advice on French hair care. French women tend to have shinier healthier hair - do they blow dry/air dry, is it the French diet, the amount of water they drink, the fact they don't tend to lighten their hair much? All the tips to help us mere mortals with frizzy unruly hair would be a great video.

Thanks for sharing! How do you avoid tap water, though? I use a clay cleanser that's applied to dry skyn and then rinsed off (very happy with it, btw) and the part that I enjoy most is using completely cold water to close off the pores & wake me up. Do you use other type of water to wash your face or just never wet it with water? Just trying to understand.

I'm from Canada originally, and i remember when I went to university in France, I was surprised by the very strong emphasis on "nourishing" The skin, whereas I had always focused on cleansing and exfoliating it (to death). I didn't change at the time, but I have gradually switched to a gentler, more nourishing regime. I have never had the patience to do my hair, and it is super dry and curly, so i have always air-dried it because i can't stand when it feels like straw. I paid for a super straight blowout exactly once in my life. I thought it was very pretty, but by the time i drove home, it was wavy, and two hours later, my original curls were back. Never again!
Thank you for this insightful video. Do you ever use tretinoin or retin A? It is shocking, to me not using water and soap. Sometimes, foundations stays on my pores and I really need to insult my skin to remove it. I guess you solved that problem- no foundation!! What do you use to wash your beautiful looking skin?
yes since my 20s real retinoin prescribed by my doctor only on the counter and if I don't have any eyes side or cheek wrinkles it is because of that. I only use rose water ot evian water :)
As far as soap goes, it is indeed very harsh. I use water, but I have my own well. City water with chlorine... ewwww. Also, the worst water I have ever experienced for my skin and hair is in Paris! Full of chalk. Yuck.
If tap water is poor quality, bottled water that you drink can help. It’s essential for skin. There’s nothing as refreshing and pleasant as water with gentle cleanser. Micellar water can damage your skin barrier if not washed off, it’s a chemical substance, though sounds harmless.
I couldn't get the grease from my bike chain off my fingers with dish soap, so i tried the micellar water and it IMMEDIATELY removed it!!! This makes me scared to use it on my face anymore!
@@donnaharrell8278 No need to be afraid. Grease needs to be removed by something tat will surround it and float it off. You could have used detergent... but of course not on your face!
Hi Alice, I have really enjoyed your channel and loved the latest info on Typology. I was looking for a new skin care regime and will give Typology a try. I am looking now looking for a good BB Cream and wondered if you would share the manufacture of yours? Thanks!
The biggest factor that makes French women so attractive (not ALWAYS beautiful but attractive and sexy) is their confidence. Confidence changes everything. When you truly LIKE yourself and think you are worthy of respect, other people follow your lead. It's in our DNA to believe people's opinions about themselves. French women SEEM to know their worth (or they do a beautiful job of faking it), and they carry themselves accordingly.
What does it mean "French women"? I'm a French woman and I look nothing like the girls in the video... We all are different. "French women" is a myth. The only thing we have in common is... Speaking French, obviously.
American women pay a lot of attention to skincare. The spend a lot of money on what classifies as "quality skincare." In fact,, the skincare industry is doing amazingly in the US. The average American woman does not wear a lot of makeup. People notice these trends like contouring in trendy and touristy places, but in other places, they were classic wardrobes and wear minimal makeup. I've seen it in New Jersey, New York, Florida, New Hampshire, the Carolinas, etc.
I am German and I have the same lifestyle like you describe the French. Only point 9 is not my personal thing. Possibly it is not only a french lifestyle but more european then US.
Moved to france almost 2 months ago and I’m still blown away by the beauty, elegance and youthfulness of the older ladies here! They are stunning and makes me less scared of aging🩷
Gel nails can look very natural and you don’t have to worry about damaging your nails. I was a purist for decades, weekly traditional manicures but then tried a natural looking gel manicure. I’ve never gone back.
Best thing you can do is protect your skin from UV rays as young as possible. You can do quite a bit of damage in your 20s. No cream will reverse damage. Drinking water is also really important.😊
Alice, why do you always make some sort of demeaning comment about American women while comparing them with French women? Every country or nation has their own culture and beauty standards. For your country skinny might be considered attractive, but go to the Middle East…… for them a little fat on a woman’s body is healthy, beautiful, and attractive. Also, in most countries around the world, a natural hair style does not mean messy hair.
The Beauty is inside but having said so all European women (brits not really) are more focused in taking care of our skin. Then It's easy, very light CC or bb cream, blush, concealer, rimmel & Lipstick. Again all spplied very softly ❤❤❤
Tap in the states is full of chlorine fluoride. I stopped using anything but distilled water on me hair and wow what a diff- now I’m doing it on my face!!
So funny reading through the comments and seeing how so many people glommed onto the "no tap water on the face" thing and ignored your most important point about having beautiful skin: It's what you're putting in your mouth!! Actually, I'm wondering if the tip to not use tap water on the face comes from the fact that the tap water is so horrible in Paris; at least it was when I was there in the mid-80's. I was there as a student and I drank it for a few days not knowing no one does (or did) and by day 3 my mouth tasted like rust and soap. I quickly made the change to drinking bottled water!
I find it funny. I'm from Arizona and I'm part German, Icelandic, Estonian, Scottish. Not French. But I do all of these things already. I just hate contouring and fussing over fake looks. I feel like I'm just watching my own routines. I had a Kevin Aucoin book at 13 and tried contouring in 1998 but it was hard. I also looked more pale in photos. Kevin is great with makeup, but I gave up.
I don’t think that the average American woman contours. I’m from New York City and don’t know anyone who would even have the time 😊. Skin care is also huge where Im from. Though it’s true that we love French pharmacies.
Exactly! I'm a Canadian in Los Angeles and NEVER contour. Also, always always since I was a little girl SKINCARE first! I taught my daughters also, and SUNSCREEN is the most important skin care. Alice is somewhat harsh on Americans.
I (in the UK) first heard of contouring from Americans on YT so that is why she is of that opinion. UK women don't do much of it but for a time it was huge.
I am familiar with those habits of the French and I feel the same about natural beauty and enhancing our own features. The only surprise for me was that you don’t use tsp water in your face. That would be a difficult habit for me to break. Do you always use micelar water to wash off cleanser? I enjoy your video and have subscribed. Thank you! Greetings from Australia. 😊
@@Aliceinparisofficial ahh good. I was wondering that as well. I studied beauty therapy back in the ‘80’s, a school run by a French woman. We used rose water diluted with distilled water and never toners (which were the thing to use after cleansing at the time). But we did rinse the cleanser off with water first. Thanks for your reply.
As a french woman I can't get my head around the notion that the world think we are especially beautiful...some of us are obviously but the majority ? Nah.
It’s not so much that French women are more beautiful, but it’s that they’re “bien dans sa peau”. They’re more comfortable with their faces/bodies/sexuality than many other women.
So many stereotypes and assumptions made here. I find women from every country and ethnicity attractive. Honesty, never thought to "aspire to be like a French woman" to be more attractive. I do aspire to learn, so thank you for the insight! Love from and American who has never contoured (and dont know anyone who does), puts a large emphasis on skincare and minimal makeup, and also doesn't self tan. To each their own! Whatever self care and style we choose, we're all beautiful in our own unique ways. ❤
As a french woman I agree with the message. There are attractive women everywhere and unattractive women everywhere (some french women are butt-ugly). Just aspire to be the best version of who you are.
It takes at least 6 months to have an appointment with a dermatologist in France and most of the time they don’t take new patient because we have a shortage. But our spas are excellent and if you pick a good one they will be able to advise you very well.
It’s not France vs the world. I think we in north Western Europe have more or less the same beauty objectives. Except the UK, they tend to follow the US more
What is advertising like in France? In the US everyone is heavily marketed to and there is less of a focus on becoming an expert in yourself and what you prefer and value.

Micellar water can damage your skin barrier if not washed off, it’s a chemical substance, though sounds harmless.
completely agree, how can you not wash your face with water like the rest of your body.
I couldn't get the grease from my bike chain off my fingers with dish soap, so i tried the micellar water and it IMMEDIATELY removed it!!! This makes me scared to use it on my face anymore!
Hmmmmm. No tap water on face. So how do modern French women shower?
Well, make sure the bottle is not plastic or canned - as cans are lined in plastic.
@@donnaharrell8278 No need to be afraid. Grease needs to be removed by something tat will surround it and float it off. You could have used detergent... but of course not on your face!
Lovely colour coat Alice. Bonne journée ✨
Please would you share info on the black jacket with gold buttons you are shown wearing in one part of video? Thank you!
Love this video, thank you and you look very beautiful in your outfit💞
Great video! Love the outfit as well.❤❤❤
Great video! Appreciate you sharing the products with us that really helps!!!
Hi Alice, I have really enjoyed your channel and loved the latest info on Typology. I was looking for a new skin care regime and will give Typology a try. I am looking now looking for a good BB Cream and wondered if you would share the manufacture of yours? Thanks!

@ Thank you so much, I really appreciate your reply. Love your videos and follow LTK daily! Best wishes!
French beauty is classy ❤
Can you make video about what to wear at home please
I am German and I have the same lifestyle like you describe the French. Only point 9 is not my personal thing. Possibly it is not only a french lifestyle but more european then US.
I wash my face with tap water and Elemis rose cleansing balm , skin needs water ,tap or bottled whatever you fancy. 👍
Love the video and your accent and style!!
I am ordering the serum and moisturizer
@@Kimmy-rh1ry let me know what you think about it. I love their serum I also use by night
Moved to france almost 2 months ago and I’m still blown away by the beauty, elegance and youthfulness of the older ladies here! They are stunning and makes me less scared of aging🩷
Alice i just subscribed and look the content, i love skincare ❤ especially natural skincare! Im woth u on that
My favorite perfumes are Lalique and Hermes.
Gel nails can look very natural and you don’t have to worry about damaging your nails. I was a purist for decades, weekly traditional manicures but then tried a natural looking gel manicure. I’ve never gone back.
Unfortunately gel destroys my nails
@@izabelazajac574Me too! Tried it once, it was beautiful, but it took months for my nails to recover. Never again!
Best thing you can do is protect your skin from UV rays as young as possible. You can do quite a bit of damage in your 20s. No cream will reverse damage. Drinking water is also really important.😊
So do you wash your face with bottled or filtered water, if you don’t use tap? Very curious.
Probably with a cleansing milk and toner.
@ but you don’t rinse it off with anything? I’m genuinely curious.
Thanks for recommending a skin care brand. Like your videos a lot.
❤ i love this video❤ bur pretty sure this is a Typology ad, and you should put that "Ad" in the title so its clear😊x
What do you rinse your face with if you don't use tap water?
rose water or evian water
I learnt a new tip! No tap water on your face. I understand the miscellaneous water products now. I'm in New Zealand and we have Hard water also.
What lipstick are you wearing in the clip of video on Lipstick?
TF indian rose
The Beauty is inside but having said so all European women (brits not really) are more focused in taking care of our skin. Then It's easy, very light CC or bb cream, blush, concealer, rimmel & Lipstick. Again all spplied very softly ❤❤❤
Tap in the states is full of chlorine fluoride. I stopped using anything but distilled water on me hair and wow what a diff- now I’m doing it on my face!!
Very useful video! Could you please write the name of the sunscreen you use? Can't read. Thank you 🌸
sunsimed avene
💜
Love the brunette bob on you!!!❤️❤️🙌🏻
So funny reading through the comments and seeing how so many people glommed onto the "no tap water on the face" thing and ignored your most important point about having beautiful skin: It's what you're putting in your mouth!!
Very useful video, thank you. I'll follow your advices. I also admired your coat, can you tell us the brand?
link in the info box :)
BRAVO AS ALWAYS ALICE!!!!
❤ To YOU, and LOTS OF PETS FOR NAPO!!!!
This all seems oil based and I am allergic to most oils .
Is a crême available as well ?
yes link below I add my day cream
Thank you for sharing. What about exercise
Another lovely video Alice 😊
U have gorgeous skin! May I ask what is your age?
I think the accent makes the French beautiful.
I like Kevin Aucoin products which I discovered spending time in Sephora or saks in NY... used to be very high quaity
Yayyyyyy La maison Sisley
I saw quite different kind of women in Paris...🤔🤔🤔
What is your take on L'occitane? To me it means luxury scents of the highest level. Love your channel❤
I like some of their products and bodywash. It smells great :)
I use rose water. I buy big bottle 2liter
Thank you alot excellent video bendiciones
Love this ❤
Who is the gal at about 1 min in? Does anyone know? I'd like to watch her tutorial!
What is that makeup you are using with the tortiseshell packaging - name starts with R

Bonjour. Can you please share the name of your dermatologiest? When next time in Paris I would love to visit the French dermatologist.
It takes at least 6 months to have an appointment with a dermatologist in France and most of the time they don’t take new patient because we have a shortage. But our spas are excellent and if you pick a good one they will be able to advise you very well.
you can email me :)
What about in the shower? The tap water hits your face. Do you mean that after your shower you use micellar water to cleanse? Interesting.
Countering is awful!! Why is it so popular in the USA ??? I love this French look gorgeous
What do women over 50 wear in lipstick colours? Do they were red… which shades brands?
Alice, I wish to buy these products, but they do not ship in Romania😢

French women are beautiful because they wear make up, look after themselves and are elegant. Italian women are very beautiful too ❤
Greek women are very into skincare, makeup and are overall beautiful women.
Since I have greatly improved my skin care, grooming, what I eat….men much younger are following me….help
The french effortless ego is undeniable, that's true.
