Im from Poland. Once I was visiting my parents who live in a small town. My mama said: “ Let’s go to grocery store grab a few things” “ok” I said “let’s go”. My mom give me look and said “Can you change before we go”… I’m so used to causal US I forgot you have to dress up to go get groceries. I miss it sometime
Omgosh lol my husband is from Hungary and he asked why everyone walks around in pajamas here ( US ) 🤣 he said women (and men) don’t go anywhere without being dressed well, makeup and hair done.
@@saraantonelli3586To feel shame is to be dead while being still alive. A lot of women make a choice to wear leisure wear. It works for waking a dog, taking kids to gymnastics, as well as feeling comfortable at home. To judge that is about being judgemental and ableist. Women already have lots of expectations placed on them, and they prioritize doing stuff over taking the time to look nice for others. Besides look at what people do in the US. Their achievements and fearlessness make them take risks and do awesome stuff, along with not caring what others think about how they dress
It's sad when people are so judgemental and shame people they supposedly love. I get that people dress up, but most people can't afford quality things. So is wearing a dress made out of thin fabric and a cheap pattern better than leisurewear? Perhaps not always. Is it better for posture and feet and comfort to wear leisurewear while walking a dog or taking kids to gymnastics. Or is it better to look stiff and uncomfortable. American women look put together in most jobs. Teachers, consultants, and many other people look put together and yet they also own a no make up and leisurewear whenever they want.
At about 12 minutes or so, Alyssa seems to apologize for how similar for the ‘repetition’ of the formula, but that is a big part of why we come back! To see the tiny tweaks that give us the frisson of the new from our tried & true! (Rhyme unintentional but I’m not mad at it either🙃)

I love your vibrant personality. The ecru trousers are so elegant. It would be great to see more ways to style them from dressy to casual. You look wonderful in the short dress and skirt. You have the legs and your youth to pull it off.

I love the way you take pieces that we easily have and style them in new ways. I'm hardly buying clothes these days and am fully embracing pre-loved! I have Canadian relatives and their style is much more laid back than where I am in Scotland.

I've spent much time in Florence and always appreciated the 'effortless chic' way that people dress and care for how they present themselves to the world..wish that was more of a standard here in Toronto ;) My Polish mother NEVER went out without considering how she presented herself !

I’ve really enjoyed this video. I’m British but I live in Madrid and have just been on a hiking holiday to Lake Como in Italy. I definitely vibed the sharper way of dressing in Italy. UK dressing seems really casual now, and Madrid is somewhere in between. My wardrobe is a bit chaotic!!
Such an interesting concept of straddling two cultures!!! I do find people dress more casually here, I’m from Switzerland and as much as I adapted wardrobe ideas when we moved here, I’ve also had to do the same with food… it took time but blending the two taught me so much :)
Just came back from Italy yesterday. The style in Rome and Florence surprised me. Beautiful fabrics, tailoring, not too over sized, great sunglasses, minimal jewelry and a fabulous bag!!!!! And then came sneakers😅. The Italian women put in effort to their styling and then had sneakers on. But after walking 15,000 steps a day on cobble stone streets, I totally get it!!!!
Side note…saw so many loafers too! Classic ones with that Gucci horse bit look.
I really loved all of the outfits except for the one with the sweater dress and cowboy boots, only because the color combination didn't convince me (I think it might be that the boots are a warmer tone and the dress is cool), but the overall idea is good. I love that you repeat outfit formulas and show that it can look completely different
What a good video concept! I never really put thought into it (I just did it), but i am Canadian with German parents and relatives in Germany; I too have noticed i dress differently in the presence of my parents or when i'm in Germany/Europe (more polished) vs. Canada (very casual here). I really like the concept of this video. I find myself doing this unconsciously when I am packing for a trip, or just trying to embody the vibes of celebs/media from different countries.
I definitely utilized this tactic of styling things I already had in a more "European" way when we went overseas last summer. Even my husband commented how we didn't stick out like tourists. Maybe you could do a similar video when considering packing, and how to blend in to the place you are travelling to?

Thanks for the inspiration. I will make them my own! I’m already pulling items from my closet. I always enjoy seeing pieces from Sezanne -classic but not boring. I live in the Pacific Northwest so it doesn’t get really cold but it does RAIN 🙄 so I do need great outerwear and am looking for a longer coat….

I really enjoyed this video. I live in, and am from, Northern California Bay Area. Which, I am pretty sure, pioneered the idea that wearing pajamas to the grocery store is perfectly fine. However, I think in my heart my personal style is more Italian. I love the understated bombshell look. I am always trying to find a happy medium between the two. Videos like these help. Also, that leather mini look fabulous on you!

Okay, so I love this concept so much! It's super cool and creative. The whole socks and heels thing can be for other people, not for me though, but you should rock it!! The sweater dress is also beautiful.
Ditto on the socks + heels, that would raise eyebrows in my neck of the woods. Everything else would work, though. Great to see how style varies from place to place.

I appreciate the contrast of the outfit in Canada or in Italy, and your setup of how you're moving through the world when you're in each place. I'm wondering if some of the difference is that you're in your everyday life versus more of a vacation vibe, as well as Italian style versus Canadian style.

I just wanted to take a moment and tell you that I have taken your advise on two companies and they have both been a win! I ordered a shirt from POMP, and a belt from Brave leather. I am thrilled with both and will be ordering more. I obviously goofed a little on the belt because it’s a little big, but that’s okay🤪

It's really interesting how the places we stay influence our way to get dressed. In summer I always stay for some weeks in a house on a lake. I always bring lots of my cloths I generally wear here in my city in Austria. But at the end I only wear my real casual peaces an feel super comfortable in them. I would feel so oversressed wearin more polished cloths there. So we are so influenced by our circumstances! But that's also a very interesting fact about fashion, that it could create so different vibes and moods. It's really fun to play around with different looks and styles!
I think if you had also paired a lacy skirt under the big oversized sweater with the cowboy boots would have been sooo cute!

Your videos are giving me such an opportunity to reconsider how I want my style to be and what I need to look for to change and upgrade my wardrobe. I have a question as well: I'd really like to know what you would suggest your blue puzzle bag with the jeans, black merino wool top and white runny sneakers. Though the overall look is good, for me, I know I would go with a black purse to compliment the outfit. Why not use one of your black bags? Why the puzzle for that look? I'm curious, that's all. Hoping to learn more as to how your eye sees that overall look vs the same outfit with a black bag or the fanny pack (which, btw, I love!!) Thanks!

Great styles! Especially the leather mini skirt with long jumper on top! A little weird editing choice at 7.51, wanted to see the finished look 😅
Although beautiful, the skirt and sweater dress are simply too too short for my comfort. I lean more toward maxi and midi lengths. Give me a long pencil skirt or a beautiful pleated midaxi.
BTW, those boots can go cowboy or lean toward biker/buckle boots...but more refined color. Bring them out and wear them this season!
A fresh concept to create different looks for two cultures with the same pieces. Very interesting and fun to watch. I like the Canadian looks more than the Italian looks except the last one with the black blazer. The more casual, relaxed vibe looks better on a very lean, athletic build. Italian looks might work better on softer, more feminine body types.
this is an interesting theory! I do subscribe to the idea that every body can wear whatever they like primarily, but always interested in ideas like this!
My own theory is exactly the opposite lol! I'm size 4 hourglass shape and tend to dislike the softer/feminine style on myself (and sometimes in others) as I feel too bombshell or "round shaped". I feel better wearing hard and structured cuts and fabrics. Alyssa's athletic body looks great in softer/feminine cuts. It might be just my taste/view and preferences of course
@@cbp7062 it is quite interesting that we seem to always want something we don’t have. I have an athletic and lean body, size 4 as well. I always want to look feminine and soft. I tried lots of feminine soft clothes, but never really feel right. When I wear more modern, relaxed, minimal clothing, I look effortlessly good. But I get bored with it. Then I start another cycle. I realize style has emotional element and technical element. Driven by emotion, everyone can wear everything as long as it makes her feel good. Then the technical side like body type, proportion, coloring, personality dictate whether one looks good in certain clothes. I try to find a balance, a happy medium. It is like marriage. Yes everyone is free to marry anyone. But if one marries someone highly compatible, happiness is a lot easier to achieve.

When going to the theatre I put some effort into looking more dressed up or polished. As it is a live performance the actors can see the audience and I think it just provides a little “respect”. 👗❤️🇨🇦

Do you use paper or tissue paper to stop the hanger leaving an imprint on the leather skirt.....that was genius by the way.

I used tissue paper but scrap fabric is good too!
