I'm really happy for Stan. Beautiful moment here for sure with his encouragement too. I got my CDL for the first time a few days ago and I start out with my OTR trainer in a couple of days from now. I've always wanted to see the country and drive doing it. I'm sure there will be some challenges ahead but I'm definitely willing to overcome them all and hopefully be successful or just as successful as Stan. Thanks for sharing this moment with us all! -Peace from Atlanta, GA. My name is Xavier. :)
I have driven a truck since 1970 off and on for many years. I finally had to give it up for health reasons. The memories you brought back are only for people who have done it forever like myself and you as well I'm sure. There is absolutely nothing like it anywhere in the world so satisfying as being a professional Steering wheel holder. The job was tedious in many ways that few can identify with. It will always be in my heart and will live in me for as long as I live. I still dream about delivering a load quite a few nights a week. My wife will never understand but I probably love driving my trucks almost as much as I love my wife!! Wonderful life!!
Nice setup. My friend took his Peterbilt to a company out in Chicago and they stretched the frame approximately 35' and put a custom body on the rig. The company employees the Amish folks to do the the cabinetry and such. Has a couple of slide outs, also self leveling system. He still has the walk through from his cab to the cabin part. Minus the truck, which by the way is an older Peterbilt because he wanted the look, he spent right at $180K. He also had a enclosed double decker caul hauler, maybe 30' in length, made to complete his setup. That was another $60K. Absolutely beautiful. FYI, I asked him about needing a CDL and he said since it's an RV it's not required. But I believe if he at a 70' plus length he's close, if not over the max limit in some states. Stan, if you're interested in his setup and the company he had done the custom work, just let me know.
is it weird that everyone has aspiraitons of getting that fancy house and property etc etc..and all i desire is to be like this guy and live like he does??? so many ppl wwould say its a lonely life but goddamn i like his complete liberty from all the trappings that hold us to these places. Just get in my truck, do my work and go.
Since the 50s, they've taught as kids that they're supposed to want a huge house and a fancy car. . Sadly, that led to speculative real estate investing and the housing market becoming a quagmire of over-priced garbage houses and people being in debt for all their working years just to pay that mortgage off. . Now, a lot of younger generation get that there are better ways. Maybe if enough of them go the route of RV conversions for vans and whatnot, the housing market won't be such a mess.
I love your truck. You've worked hard for this. Thank you for what ever it is that you're hauling. I appreciate each and every trucker out there. Thank you for your service Sir.
Nice custom sleeper. American trucks - best trucks. I'm from Russia, we have american and european trucks, and i can say american trucks is the best trucks for making money. We also have custom sleeper kenworth like that in Vladivostok.
It’s awesome to see how much this guy loves his truck! If you don’t take pride in what you do, you shouldn’t be doing it! This guy is so awesome! Thanks for sharing this
I was just about to say that this trucker knows his business and a very nice personality. Excellent upload. Thank you very much CheapRVliving & GOD bless
This is one of the reasons I love RUclips. Great to see, especially considering I'd like to get into trucking and I don't mind minimalism. And I don't think the dislikes come from truck drivers. If anything, they're closer to this type of situation than most people who watched this video. Have a blessed new year.
Amazing. I used to camp dispersed in Quartzsite, Yuma and Holbrook, Ca., in the '90's, then got my CDL and drove a million miles in 10 years. Now I am 70 with a small pension from Uncle Sam and thinking about dispersed camping again. Nothing like the solitude of the desert in the winter and the peacefulness of the mountains in the summer. Not being married, I took to life on the road like a duck to water. Camping or driving, nothing like being a Nomad. Nice video. I have to admit it....I miss my Big Rig, as hard a life as it was.
Hi great comment when you say you dispersed camp did you live in a van or you mean you lived in a big rig truck? you drove a million miles? for the truck company? where? congrats
+Past Famous I had a pop top VW Westfalia in the '90's. Yeah, drove a million miles as a company driver for Simon out of Salt Lake and Swift out of Phoenix. For the 10 years I was a driver, I lived in the truck, which had a 70-inch sleeper behind the driver's seat. Except when we had some time off. Then me and my dog would head for the nearest campground or National Forest and sleep in a tent.
Trucking is hard work. First, you have to get your CDL, and probably pass the air brake test and the doubles/triples test and the hazmat test. Then go out with a trainer for several weeks to learn the ropes. Then you get your own truck and try out your wings. Driving a big rig isn't much more difficult than driving a large car, except it is much, much longer and ever manoeuvre has to take that into consideration, especially backing and parking, etc. Everything is power....power windows, power brakes, power steering and this and that. But the transmission has 8,9,10, 13 or 18 gears and double clutching is the proper method for shifting. You got to know all kinds of special laws and know how to use the trucker atlas, know where all the low bridges are and authorized routes....all over the country,, etc., etc., etc. I paid $6,000 for my CDL and 18 weekends of training, 9 in a classroom and 9 on the road. If you are dedicated to a challenging, professional occupation, trucking can be for you.
I watched this and found it so interesting, then about half way through I realized I watched this 2 years ago and remember I found it really interesting. Guess I’m smoother 2 years I’ll watch it again.
One your best videos Bob nice one! Enjoyed Stan's working trucker perspective and the difference to regular full timers. Great he has a shower as I was surprised by the cost of truck stop showers on my recent USA tour. Also surprising was a lack of battery bank. Very interesting video and learnt a lot. Great that Stan broke down the numbers- fuel and insurance is a killer!
Clean absolutely...towels provided, large room excellent facilities. Love Flying J usually the best price on gas nice restaurants etc but the cost of a shower was too much for my tight budget. You may be able to find an RV park for $25?
Shower is anywhere from 12-16 depending on truck stop and where in the country you are. Most all truck stops they are free if you buy at least 60 gallons of fuel. I personally have gym membership at couple different big gyms and use them most of the time.
Its very refreshing to see a man working so hard and enjoying the fruits of labor. I love his energy and how he showcased this beautiful machine. I owned many cars in my days but when I bought an RV I was hooked. People often wonder how a car guy can convert? Well once you have one of these beauties you truly feel like the king of the road. Well done my friend for posting this video. Inspiring others around the world. Cheers from Toronto Canada.
I have such an appreciation for truck drivers. Last month my spouse and I went on our maiden voyage in our Airstream from Maryland to Texas and back. We stopped at several truck stops along the way. Wow, what an eye opener. God bless all the long distance truck drivers.
This is awesome. my daddy a retired lifer Navy/ Air Force went into trucking long haul and he was a bad ass trucker made a lot of money he owned two semis and they weren't as big as this beauty! Thank you for truckers for all you do bringing our food, etc to our nearby stores! YOU ALL are very much appreciated! God bless you all and your families I know the cost ! Safe travels and peace!
I love this guy, and I can see why he's so proud of that truck. If I were doing that job and staying in it for weeks on end, this would be a dream come true. Its beautiful and he seems super nice and down to earth. I enjoyed watching this.

This guy goes over every detail about his truck and his situation and little about his future plans. I like that!
The bathroom sold it for me 😂😂 thats the best thing ever !!!
Xavier. Happy trails to you.
WOW HIS TRUCK IS AMAZING!!!
This is beautiful and the construction is so much better than in a camper or RV.
Im not a trucker. I just love trucks and i could listen to stan talk all day about trucks and understand 40 percent. Still cool to watch loll chow lol
This is just the most wholesome channel on youtube, love tuning in
He's such a happy nice guy! I'm really glad for him! Keep trucking amigo!
What a genuine nice guy, a true American working man.
He’s a very good communicator. Very knowledgeable.
This guy is so positive! Congrats on that awesome rig! I wish every professional truck driver to have this kind of truck. Stay safe out there, folks.
is it weird that everyone has aspiraitons of getting that fancy house and property etc etc..and all i desire is to be like this guy and live like he does??? so many ppl wwould say its a lonely life but goddamn i like his complete liberty from all the trappings that hold us to these places.
Weird, sure. But there's nothing wrong with that
That truck cost as much as a house.
I love your truck. You've worked hard for this. Thank you for what ever it is that you're hauling. I appreciate each and every trucker out there. Thank you for your service Sir.
Hell of a nice guy...this country needs more people like him!! Best of luck in your adventures!!
Nice custom sleeper. American trucks - best trucks. I'm from Russia, we have american and european trucks, and i can say american trucks is the best trucks for making money. We also have custom sleeper kenworth like that in Vladivostok.
russian offroad trucks are bad ass though too!
Awesome, the Aussies government they allow three trailers hooked up to the back of the semi big rig commercial trucks
I was thinking that this truck would be great for the really long distance trucking in Russia.
LOL I had a good laugh at the "reefer truck" line
edit: Thank you for your service, sir!
We need a million more guys like him! True blue die hard AMERICAN TRUCKER !! Very proud and hard working
It’s awesome to see how much this guy loves his truck! If you don’t take pride in what you do, you shouldn’t be doing it! This guy is so awesome! Thanks for sharing this
Randomly found this excellent video
dave alders same here
Thank You .. All Our Ads On You Tube Help Oeopke From Becoming Homeless
Thank you! As a homeless person pondering a career...
Wow! Simply amazing! Had no idea they had such trucks. And he’s really proud of it as he should be.
ur a good guy, with good truck .living in a good life,. may the best be always in ur way..
I don't know how i got here but so happy that he's happy & comfortable my dad did that for years he was super uncomfortable. Nice!
Wow... that's amazing. Having your own bathroom and shower? Great rig
The conversion of your rig is amazing. Lots of room with all the comforts of a home.
This is like a small apartment in the back of driver seats.
It is far from a apartment lol , more of the size of a pop up. Still very cool though
In some ways, his truck is actually nicer than my apartment.
larger than an Ikea studio!
I've seen videos of apartments in NY that were smaller, didn't have their own bathroom, and still cost $$$.
@@calebniederhofer6529 Not by New York City standards. I;ve seen apartments there smaller than this.
I was just about to say that this trucker knows his business and a very nice personality. Excellent upload. Thank you very much CheapRVliving & GOD bless
I drove a Freightliner for two years. It can have all comforts of home. I went out for six weeks at a time. It was a positive experience overall.
This is one of the reasons I love RUclips. Great to see, especially considering I'd like to get into trucking and I don't mind minimalism. And I don't think the dislikes come from truck drivers. If anything, they're closer to this type of situation than most people who watched this video. Have a blessed new year.
Ha , this isn't minimalism in the Truck context , this is opulent luxury . Minimalism would be a 36 or 48 inch , cab height , crawl in sleeper .
+Richard, When you say it was a hard life could you expand on that a little bit? Thanks in advance.
Richard, thanks for taking the time to share yiur experience.
Approx $12USD at Flying J No thanks. Better off to visit city pools $4USD and/or get a trial gym membership if you can.
Clean absolutely...towels provided, large room excellent facilities. Love Flying J usually the best price on gas nice restaurants etc but the cost of a shower was too much for my tight budget. You may be able to find an RV park for $25?
@ freedom run ... I totally agree, these insurance companies must be makin a killing.
The thing is, that we truckers get showers for free at truck stops when we buy diesel from them.
I love the honesty about gas mileage. Every guy with a truck seems to want to lie about how good the MPG is. Even at 9 MPG that seems pretty great.
Awesome video and letting the guy talk about his beauty. :)
Wow he's got so much room!!
I have such an appreciation for truck drivers. Last month my spouse and I went on our maiden voyage in our Airstream from Maryland to Texas and back. We stopped at several truck stops along the way. Wow, what an eye opener. God bless all the long distance truck drivers.
Stan seems like a great guy and it was a treat to see what he has put together for himself, I’m impressed.
This guy is so cool! Love his optimism and creativity!!!! He's a free man!
Seems like a very kind little ol man, bless him Lord keep this humbled guy safe out there on the road.❤️😊
Johnny Blaze sorry had no idea you were just joking 🙃💋
Les Claypool god bless
This is awesome. my daddy a retired lifer Navy/ Air Force went into trucking long haul and he was a bad ass trucker made a lot of money he owned two semis and they weren't as big as this beauty! Thank you for truckers for all you do bringing our food, etc to our nearby stores! YOU ALL are very much appreciated! God bless you all and your families I know the cost ! Safe travels and peace!
"Toasty as a bug back here" 😂😂😂😂
Button I believe he's said toasty as a button..
This man is living in a truck bigger than my living room.
I love this guy, and I can see why he's so proud of that truck. If I were doing that job and staying in it for weeks on end, this would be a dream come true. Its beautiful and he seems super nice and down to earth. I enjoyed watching this.
Stan crashed it. Check out his channel Sasnak.
Bless our Truckers! Without them we would not be able to live our comfort lives. Beginning with food, ending with Luxury Goods 🥰😉 I just love this buildout. Stan! You the Man 🥰😉😉 . Icecream? Very important stuff *lol* Basis FOOD *lol* Great video, enjoyed it a lot.
