      I have seen and heard plenty people complaining about the cold in van’s!!!
      It’s awful!! Dripping water on the van’s walls turning into ice..
      So what you have decided is perfect!! But only if you prepare your van to keep you warm and toasty.. if a frozen climate come .. well what is perfect for winter is the same for summer hot days.. insolation is main question!!

    In most pet stores you can buy pine pellet kitty litter. The brand name is "Feline Pine" but there are generic brands available too depending on the store. My cat is 13 years old and I have been using it since he was a baby. It is very true that when it gets wet it breaks down into sawdust and has little smell. Plus it lasts longer as the sawdust dries out and unlike clay litter, it doesn't get lumpy and stay wet. I'm glad someone finally talked about it.

    Note: if you want to use stainless steel with magnets, you need type 430, not 304 (food grade). 430 is cheaper, so that's good. If you buy a st. stl. sheet, first test it with a magnet to be sure it works the way you expect.

    After watching Dee's interview I've anxiously been waiting for Marie to be interviewed. Your rig is well thought out, Marie! Well done! I picked up a couple of ideas for my van. You brought up a good safety point and I think it applies for both men and women. Use your brain and "gut feeling" when you arrive at a potential camp site. If something doesn't seem right don't hesitate to leave. I ran into a situation in San Diego and it took only minutes to assess that, hey, it's time to leave. Apparently, arrests were made at the camp site...I discovered in talking with others who elected to stay. The area was located in a beautiful area next to inlets.

    I use the compressed wood pellets in my squatty potty in my tiny camper for both numbers. LOL. For #2, I sprinkle a little more pellets over the deposit to dehydrate the solid, as well as deodorize it. I remove the biodegradable bags every morning, and deposit it in a Diaper Genie, controls odor as well as stores the bags until I can get to a large trash container. Once I build out my short bus I will be using a self made compost toilet, with the pellets in the jug for the liquids, so no spills. Nice build, looks nice and comfy!

Just bought myself Ram Promaster City and getting ready to furnish it (keeping it simple, more like a no build build) and heading south for the winter for the first time after dreaming about it for five or more years. I did the same thing as her going back and forth in my mind about what to get. Fuel efficiency (with gas prices such as they are) won out over space.

    • @GinaKayLandis
      @GinaKayLandis 2 года назад +5

      I loved this video and her build - and you have a Ram Promaster City!! Yay! I have opted for a Ram Promaster 1500 high top because I will use it for business as well as camping (no stationary bed, just a classy cushioned ottoman that I will add a topper to - that way business clients won't be freaked out!). With the pandemic, my options for meeting clients in coffeeshops became nil - and the pandemic is technically still going on. If we have a shutdown again, I will have my mobile office for writing contracts instead of being perched on a park bench with stormclouds rolling in!
      Best to you on your venture into adventuring! Might see you out on the road! 😊

    I luv seeing you laugh Bob and seeing your smile. Great tour, great van, i luv that lil connect too. I cannot decide what van to buy. I agree why not start small, see if you like it, figure what's important and your needs are first before spending lots of money! I think I will do the same

    I moved to a Transit, medium high and long because of mobility issues. Before I was in a truck bed shell and before a Jeep Patriot. Always a no build build. I love these sizes for ease of parking anywhere. A lot of Canadian places don't let RVs park on the street but I've never had an issue. happy travels.

    What a nice lady. And I love a world history teacher who travels. Her students were very fortunate. Beautiful camper home. I should have listened to you bob, we bought a class A and now we want to sell it and convert a van or a small bus. Love her beautiful home and she is so deserving of retirement. Hope she continues to enjoy her travels and has a great visit with her children. Thank you Bob ! Your a good man ! Leslye

    One of the BEST videos I have see about living in the outdoors! Great perspective. I have been struggling about whether I stay full-time in my truck camper, or make other choices. Thank you for saying it doesn’t have to be all or nothing! And thank you for saying we need to do what is right for us…not (necessarily) what we see others doing. Love the van - great ideas in it.
