No offer is ever too low, the only offer that’s too low is the offer that never comes. She can refuse every offer she wants but stop complaining about money where others kill for. There was a time she would go on stage for 100,- to show her skills, now 500k is low balling. when you put things in perspective you see how unreal these people are. You think a couple of jokes are worth a couple of houses? I don’t think so, they only way she can justify a salary like that is when she produces everything herself. Including the show, taking the risk etc etc.

(Not saying Mo'nique is an item but her skill/talent is a commodity in this instance). I agree no offer is "too low". Another thing i was thinking about is, racism can never be the reason, only a problem that needs to be solved. The minute people tell you it was because of rascism, they basically gave up trying! (i hope what i ment comes across, english is not my native language)
Alex Timmermans I think harmful ideologies play a role in every human interaction there is. It's an unfortunate side effect of our human nature. However, I believe we can prevail in many situations when we accept that we can only control our own behavior. It's frustrating. It's hard. But it's true. I'm thankful for my mentors and role models that help me navigate and learn certain things and hoping I'll be able to pass some of that on to others. Thanks again!

Google where Monique is appearing and the venue holds about 500 people and she isn't selling it out. Amy Schumer sold out Madison Square Gardens which holds 20K. Do the math.
While she has very valid points, and Netflix’ initial offer was low, Monique and her management have poorly represented her position. A savvy manager would have been able to negotiate the deal with Netflix to get slightly more up front AND paid on the backend as a % of revenues. Rock a cute 30-45 minute special then get the real coins on the second go round. Unfortunately, Netflix isn’t hurting. She is- and no one is going to boycott Netflix over her mess. Monique needs to know her audience. The people she’s trying to rally to boycott Netflix probably have never made $500K in a lifetime let alone for one gig. That’s going to be an uphill battle, sis. People need their Netflix and chill- ain’t nobody got time for her tantrum disguised as a political statement.

Monique always delivers. She's never had a flop. She's branded and very well seasoned comedian. She would have ended up making Netflix millions and she would have only gotten paid 500k. The same way she did for precious. She did the right thing. She never argued about her pay for precious because that's what she said she agreed to but it was never stated in her contract that she had to advertise for free. That's why Black Hollywood would never respect us as Black entertainers because of comments like these above. She's you all's Black sister. Don't just not support because Netflix benefits you. Great job!... here is my take on it: I listened to Monique's complete reasoning for asking for a higher pay, i agree with her in principle. I'm not sure if you heard her reasoning for asking for more and subsequently, the boycott. But, you should give it a chance if you have not. I must say...i love Monique's details, comparisons, and even her reason for standing. I think we "Americans" and we "Black People"should listen without allowing our personal feelings towards her, and those who have fearful hearts to be open and take in the total sum of the situation and proceed from there. I will go back and rewatch her appeal due to your comment. I respect those that are boycotting or agree with the boycott. However, I do believe we as community need to continue to grow and learn to leverage our knowledge and skills more effectively in business. This will come over time. I'm a male, and totally support Monique. Why is it greedy when a black woman is standing strong on her worth? I'm sick of society looking down on black women. Even our own look down upon black women compared to how we see other women of different races. My mom had always told me and my two brothers, that us boys had one strike against us because we were black, and not to have a second strike by being uneducated. Because she felt as a black woman, she already had two strikes against her because she was black and a woman. Black women are still fighting their place in the US, while a black male and white woman were treated with a similar worth. More importantly, a white man is considered worth more than everyone. Just imagine what a white male comedian is getting offered. So, when people keep going along that black woman aren't beautiful, intelligent, nor worthy of equal pay are totally bullshitters. And all of you that keep stating that Monique is being greedy is also the problem, embracing the notion that black women are less than and should be treated as less, is a shame. Smdh.
