- Here’s an update regarding my 10 months in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There are three things I like and three things I don’t like about the city so far.
So sorry it took a me so long to post an update ! Life, ya know. But here are three things I like about Minneapolis and three things I don’t like. If you live in Minneapolis or had live there, please comment your likes and dislikes below...a lot of people are considering relocating to the city and I think it would be helpful. Thanks !
I will be visiting Minneapolis in the middle of November. Do you have any favorite restaurant options?
yanceyboi1 Sure ,
Pizza Luce
The Lowry
Revival
J. Selby
Hope you get a chance to try a few of these options 🤗
@@HelenBelenShow I appreciate you taking time to answer my question. Thank You
Lol, you sound like me with the making friends; I will be moving there soon and not looking forward but looking forward to meeting individuals. My husband is also in your field of work and I would love if you could share your story/journey of the job market there "for him". Thanks
@Mercedes Frank Sorry for taking so long to respond ! Definitely planning to be more active on my channel in 2022! So I’ll add that to my lists of things to talk about ! I appreciate you watching and commenting.
im moving to minneapolis soon, im excited
I’m told it’s hard for “outsiders” to really get close to people from here. It’s not that people don’t like you it’s just that they tend to just remain really close with people they grew up with..or something like that.
Cameran Powers Yes! Now this is hard to pinpoint because many cities are this way and making friends as you get older is harder in general but even native Minnesotans admit this. Thanks for the comment !
I’m a native Minnesotan, however I don’t live there anymore but I can confirm this is a thing.
@MNforyou. Oh it’s a thing. People tend to stick around family and kids they went to grammar school with. Still people are polite and accommodating, just don’t ask to go ice fishing with someone you met 3 mos ago.
you definitely right im from mpls & ive had the same group of friends for 17 years so we not gon trust no new person easily
Minnesotans are as cold as the winters.
I’m visiting Minneapolis this weekend staying downtown.
Any good coffee shops I should try out?
What’s the go to social place to eat?
One of the things about taxes...we have excellent healthcare/social services as well as infrastructure and education. (There's those Nordic values in action.) We have very high property taxes, but we also have incredibly good public schools, which is a massive value in action for Minnesotans.
(I'm a green card Minnesotan too...moved here in 2007 and so far have really loved it here.)
Absolutely, there are certainly trade offs! Thanks for commenting and watching !
It’s a great place to live and work. I’ve been here more than 1/2 of my life now and I like it a lot. Native Minnesotans tend to not be accommodating to outsiders.
It’s a Northern Europe thing, and a lot of folks move to Mpls/STP, live here for a few years and move away. All in all aside from the weather (which is absolute shit for 5 mos out of the year), its a nice place to live.
Great video btw. If you want to communicate via email or whatever, drop me a line.
I would be happy to discuss more about Mpls.
Thanks for making these vids! I'm thinking about moving there, but still doing research
You’re a Welcome! I have a few requests so I hope to post some more soon 🤗
I just came from visiting Minneapolis this past weekend. It was my third time visiting. It’s a contender for when I move out of Mississippi, but that cold weather scares me (although I think I’m getting use to MN’s mild coldness), and idk if I can drive in that ice and snow.
I feel like you kinda adjust to the weather or at least organize your life to where it’s not that unbearable lol
I want to be more social in 2020 also haha I live in mn and used to live in minneapolis and miss it so ive been enjoying your minneapolis vidoes :)
Extra places to go:
Mall of America
Duluth and Silver Bay
Great small town Rochester Stillwater
Bonus: cross the river/border to Wisconsin and see Willow River State park and the small town and Afton state park
Thanks for those suggestions !
Just moved here in July. Cool so far, but winter is coming lol
Helen Belen i use to live in an town name belen.i use to live in Minnesota as an child iam planning on moving to small town for job opportunities..
hi! i loved your original and this updated video! i have a question about what type of people you’ve seen around minneapolis and the metro area. i am a black woman and my fiancée is white and we have biracial child. we were looking to move to minneapolis , from georgia, in the near future. long story short, i was wondering if you see alot or very few interracial couples? thanks!
Hey sorry for the delayed response ! Thank you for watching my videos. To answer your question I see a lot of interracial couples here. I’ll be honest and relay that I’ve seen more non-white men with white women than vice versa but it is not unusual and I have not heard of any high profile harassment events as of late. I hope that helps ! 🤗🤗♥️
Hi Helen, I am planning to move back and enjoy your channel. Would love to connect!
Well Helen, I'm Michael, Moving to Minneapolis in March and I'm from Cleveland, Ohio raised in Atlanta, Ga for most of my life I need a social circle super cool and Gay!!! So that's a double bonus. I'm liking the Bloomington area myself its just so expensive.
Hey Michael! Lol glad you’re enjoying it here so far (and yes it can be pretty expensive here smh) . Thanks for commenting!
Is it is a true that people in Minneapolis are not so social ? Something like people in Seattle?
2020 plans to get out more… you have my sympathy
High taxes because of the government services
Mpls. is a place to grind it out.
