Hi Helen! I’m starting a new job and will be moving to Minneapolis in 2 months. Can you send me the links of the apartments you looked at? Melanie9nicole@yahoo.com
@M Nicole Hey so, I posted some links in the description for your reference. I couldn't find alot of the original ones I looked at unfortunately. I used Zillow for my search. I was able to go on there and save the apartments I wanted to look at once I was in town and call around to find out more information. I would highly suggest the site, especially for "out of towners" so that you can hit the ground running when you arrive. Hope this helps!
Welcome to Minnesota! I live in St. Cloud area but I have family in the cities :) Hope everything is working out for you here and I look forward to updates :) I think you made the best choice for an apartment. That skywalk is so nice in the winter you'll really appreciate it.
I would have picked #1 too. Can’t beat $931 on the skyway! Old places are cool. How are you liking living downtown? Can I ask what area of downtown? I’ve had a few downtown Mpls apartments when I lived in the city but none on the skyway. Such a bonus that you can just walk to work, come home for lunch! What a money saver! Who needs a car downtown when there there is Uber, Lyft, Turo, Zipcar, etc. loving the Murphy bed option! Kind of perfect for 1 person. Hopefully you’re still loving Minneapolis!
Hey ! I do love living down town!!! I don’t save much because....I love food and Minneapolis has given me so many great vegetarian options (that’s my own fault though because as you mentioned you can definitely save money). I won’t say exactly where I live (you seem nice but the internet is full of not nice people) but it’s very worth it to be close to everything. I highly recommend it. Thank you !!!
Welcome to MN....Enjoy these last few weeks before the dreaded winter starts. It isn't as bad as you may think it's gonna be. Just gotta get MN tough. Il ive in southern MN.
@Mitchell Macleod well, im about a year late responding to your comment and I apologize. Planning to come back to the Tube in 2022. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Welcome to Minnesota. I hope you like it here you just have to get used to the cold.takes some time to get used to it.i am from the twin cities area so if you have any questions or wanna know about things to do or anything else about the twin cities area leave me a message.
Thanks for sharing Helen. I just moved up here so I’ve been looking for an apartment. Do you still live downtown Minneapolis? How do you like it? What is the best area to live in? As I’m concerned about the crime? Dunno which areas to check out or avoid.
Hello again, so I no longer live downtown. The places to live here are going to depend largely on space. If you’re okay with a studio or 1 bd/1 ba you may be able to be more flexible. Right now, 1bd/1ba is trending towards about $1500 before utilities and parking on the low end. There are so many areas to look at but St. Louis Park is one popular spot. Good luck !
Hey! In my case they did want to see proof of employment. That can be pay stubs or an offer letter. If you want to search early. I would recommend selecting places where they have a virtual tour option so you can see the place. Additionally, you could try to reserve a place based on the job you have in your current state. Keep in mind that deposit is often a commitment to rent! This is unique in my experience so don’t put a deposit unless you have selected that apartment. I hope that’s helpful!

I’m looking at apartments now, hoping to move there from the uk
How would we start our search on apt searching if we still live out of state? Do we have to have a job there first before they let us rent an Apt?

I love in Texas and it’s getting way too expensive… I want to move in 60 days.
Hey what company or website did you use to see and eventually get the apartment?
Hey, I just googled different complexes and called individually to see them. I didn’t use a company. Thanks for watching!
@@HelenBelenShow alright thanks
wow 180-300 dollars to park in your own damn apartment?? parking should come with it.

You will want to move to anoka county it's safer. Or edina MN. You better spend more than a $1000 for a one bedroom.
If you're in North Minneapolis get out.
