As higher candela lights hit the market more and more, Streamlight is evolving the popular TLR 7 X with more candela and lumen output. Here we have the Streamlight TLR 7 HL X (high lumen) that runs on 1 SLB9 battery to see targets further with a hotter spot like a Streamlight TLR 1 HL.
High candela lights are used to lit up targets far away with as much as 100 meters to 150 meters as the standard. It's like adding rifle light capability to a handgun for target identification.

Even with a cr125 batter giving 500 lumens, the hl lense cap makes more candela than the standard. Candela is light distance and that is done by the reflector housing

I think alot has to do with the reflector shape and coating. And then the battery power boosts the throw. But I'm not an light engineer.
