Yo Jeremy, you’re one of the best content, creators on RUclips keep up the great work brother! Say do you have promo codes for sea of life, wallets, and ridge wallets?
Way back, say 20 years ago, while serving in the Marine Corps, I purchased a Surefire ZR2 combat. 65 lumens with an hour run time. It had an optional lamp upgrade for 120 lumens with under 30 min battery life. Today I carry a $35 Streamlight that produces 115 lumens and uses a single AAA battery.
Streamlight makes good stuff I use them as a mechanic. I have one pocket light ive owned for 4 years and gets used constantly, still won’t quit. And I just got their magnetic light that’s excellent.
My favorite outdoors EDC knife is a 440C SS bellied drop point (6 1/2" fixed blade cutting edge) with an 1/4" thick spine. It can literally chop a tree, filet a fish, and hack straight through a deer leg in one swing. This was quenched using dry ice in a proprietary method then tempered. G10 handles and full grain sheath lined with kydex. My black smith charges $100 for each one. My EDC for work is a Cold Steel Ti lite 6. IF I need to use it for...stuff I want to make damn sure it can...touch stuff and be deployed as I'm drawing it out (quicker than any flicker as you have to draw then deploy, I deploy on the draw). Just modify the pocket catch to grab better for deployment (dremel and a conical grinder). $165. It's my opinion that after ~$300 or so you're just paying for name (snob factor). There is NOTHING a $1,300 pocket knife can do that a well made $300 knife can. Function over fashion in this arena, now don't get me wrong. I love my Padron and Davidoff cigars, my Macallan 25. I'll pay for quality in a heart beat. But I refuse to pay for solely snob factor.
I gotta say, as someone who's spent the past couple weeks on a quest to find the perfect flashlight I was so relieved to find somebody who's not pushing the olight i3t garbage... I just received the streamlight microstream as a gift and it has been phenomenal, so I was super happy to see them get some love in this video, you my friend have earned a new subscriber! #budgetbanger #bandana
yo LEGO, did you ever think that so many people rep the i3T because it's a great flashlight? affordable, battery operated, and decent lumen output. whatcha' need 1000+ lumens for an EDC flashlight anyways?
@@mattmcneill3669 hey man, everybody's needs are different, so I'm glad it works great for you. Personally I think $20 is a waste of money for something that's only gonna last 20 minutes on high before I have to replace the battery. But that's my opinion and what works for my needs
Great stuff brother, I have switched over to stream light on my new rifle build. Nothing wrong with the surefires on my older gear , but as you’ve pointed out the stream light does the same job at a fraction of the cost. I carry a micro stream with usb rechargeable for EDC.
I’m so glad you carry a bandana for edc I carry one in my back pocket daily just like any other piece of edc they are so so useful and I thought I was alone on carrying one
I've been using the stream light wedge for nearly a year now. Excellent light. I'm a sublet vendor in the collision industry. I use it for general inspection and full on dash pulls. It'll hold a charge for 2 weeks before I have to throw it on a charger for 6-7 hours on a weekend night. My only gripe, immediately take the clip off and loctite (blue or red) the small machine screws. They tend to come loose. It took me a couple tightening sessions to finally just loctite them and I haven't had to do it since.
The utility knife game has totally changed. Civivi is obviously a great budget knife, CJRB/Artisan Cutlery is great, Sativian has surprisingly gotten better (K110 Bohler steel flipper for $29.99 is crazy cool, with better action and ergonomics than some of my personal high end knives) Off Grid has some incredibly heavy duty overbuilt knives, I mean I’m sure if you’re watching this video this is all nothing new to you, but just in case someone is new to EDC just know options for a great folding knife is damn near endless. But also keep in mind what was said in the beginning, if you don’t mind spending the extra couple dollars on your gear you’ll probably end up having to put that piece of kit in your last will and testament because it will outlast you. Anyways everyone be well! 🇺🇸
"Pretty cool little light with a feature I don't think i've seen on any other light", I thought you were about to say "it comes equiped with a bottle opener" 💀
As an EDC watch I guess the Casio is a fine watch. I'm kind of an old school guy myself. I prefer mechanical or self winding watches for myself, which I don't have as my timex self winder was damaged by my grandson and I can't afford to replace at the moment. My logic is IF the SHTF I will not have unlimited access to replacement batteries but a mechanical watch with a waterproof rating should suffice. I really enjoy your videos. Rock on.
Not only informative, but your videos are highly entertaining. I am subscribing to your channel. Looking forward to watching more of your videos, thank you 🙏
I am making Altoids stationary kit. Please suggest - 1) Liquid glue which can be used repeatedly 2) Transparent tape which can be cut without scissors 3) Compact slim stapler
I’ve got the murdered out version (and maybe a few other colorways) but it is soooo hard to read. I picked up the GAB2100-1A and use that as my “I don’t wear expensive watches around here” option. Good for travel too since it sync’s to a phoneme app via Bluetooth and jumps to the new time zone faster than I remember to.
G-Shock collector here 😂. Kept all mine since a Baby-G when I was 11. Missus had a fit and HATES the Frogman. She bought me a CasiOak last year and I'm just starting to appreciate the silhouette.
Streamlight Microstrean USB, Civivi Elementum Button Lock 2 or Knafs Lander, and Open Sea Leather Houbie Mini Kangaroo. The budget stuff has become my main carry because I just like the designs. Thank you for introducing me to Open Sea Leather man
I have a rather balanced knife collection with my cheapest being the Ontario Rat 2 that I bought for around $30 up to my nicest knife being a $1,300 Rockstead Higo II. For the money, my favorite knife is the Renegade Provisions God of Mischief, but my favorite budget knife is definitely the Tempest Pinion. I never did handle a QSP Penguin, but that would probably be the next budget knife I would purchase. The rest of my EDC game is W E A K.
@@CharlesLockyer it’s fine for the money. I use a SpyderCo Gayle Bradley II as my workhorse and it really holds up to a beating. I would consider the Rat 2 is appropriate for light duty EDC.
I know I am 8 months late to this video, but I appreciate it. I went ahead and ordered the Casioak because I have been looking for a watch that fits the "business" side of my life without having to wear a smartwatch or my "after hours" GShock. Overall great advice on a lot of EDC.
Jeremy, Hey I have two great budget carries, 1. The Kubey Flash, 2. The Civivi Asticus! I know there's tons out there, and my all time favorite is The Spyderco Amalgam this knife didn't get the justice it deserves in my opinion! Anyway wish you the best!
Streamlight may not be considered “high end” but as a mechanic I use a streamlight stinger day and day out. I beat the shit out of it. I love streamlight. Super tough lights.
Streamlight MICROstream or the MACROstreams are wonderful, been carrying the microstream for years now, very worth the little space it takes up in your pocket. I really like the Wedge, but not having the tailcap button is kinda a bummer and is what is keeping me from buying it
Honestly, I've been questioning the bottle opener on EVERYTHING. I just use my seatbelt buckle... and in one of my old trucks, I just used the door catch loop. Kind of a pet peeve of mine... just like thumb studs (so lazy).
My dad calls me ghetto but I pretty much exclusively edc a utility knife. I’ve got a couple good folders and a good fixed blade for when I’m camping/hiking but going to work or whatever I’ve got a Milwaukee fastback. I never have to sharpen it and it’s comfortable to hold and carry
The ultimate "wear-and-forget" watch is still the Casio Oceanus S100. JDM watch, titanium case & bracelet, solar powered, syncs with atomic clock radio signal, sapphire crystal, lume that lasts through the night, date window you can actually read from a distance, and because of all that titanium it's super-light. It's basically a "somewhat dressy" G-Shock since the internal components are literally from the G-Shock analog dial line. Oh yeah, and you can switch time zones in seconds with it much faster than any other watch. Best watch for travel no matter the terrain. Next best would be a G-Shock 5100 square. Gerber pry is what i carry all day every day. The flat head and the pry bar get used just as much as the blade. Used and abused. Had it for 2 plus years
Jeremy have an idea for you. You should do a coffee mat for countertops with one of your designs. A good coffee mat is hard to find much less something that looks badass!
I use a streamlight wedge on a daily basis for work as a mechanic and edc. I've used it several times in the woods as I live next to them, and it absolutely insane how strong that little thing is. Completely recommend the streamlight wedge, just don't use the turbo mode too long as it can and will melt out the plastic over the light itself
I love the Gerber Prybrid. I loved it so much I bought another one as a back up. I use mines almost everyday. Honestly its what caught my eyes on your thumbnail. loved the vid btw. aloha from Hawaii
Mr. Siers, you will make a perfect drinking & smoking mate for Mum & Dad. You are well spoken with an excellent sense of humour. Also we feel that you would enjoy Dad's 28 year old Chivas. Yeah...Neo is The Man. We love Tackleberry..!! By the way it's a Torch not flashlight mate. Great show as always mate. Also mum wants to know when do we see the lovely Mrs. Siers next? The Streamlight stylus isnt the first 360 light. The old school 2 AA mini maglight is made to unscrew the top and use it as a stand so it's like an electric candle sitting on a table.
I used to be the same way. But over the years I have streamlined my everyday carry to more of a minimalist carry. I don’t even carry a big knife anymore.
When it comes to watches, Casio is a ridiculously reliable brand that won’t break the bank. I know the one I wear isn’t exactly budget friendly, but at around $300, my Casio Pathfinder has lasted me 12 years so far with no signs of quitting. It’s practically invisible, always accurate, and has so many bells and whistles that there’s still a few I don’t understand. I’m wearing this until it somehow stops working, and if I can’t get it fixed, I’ll probably buy another one.
Even if you're gear snobbing, it's good to have budget friendly stuff to loan, or when you might need to do some type of shit that you wouldn't want to risk your nice gear.
Casio Duro ($60 + -) is about as far up the Casio food chain as you need to go to have an excellent watch and their digitals are all very cool for less than half that.
