@H K haha. You know this shouldn’t be funny but one day my older brother (who use to be my biggest bully said) “look at you now, I made you strong” and it really stuck. I’m glad I was bullied and fucked with by him, because I have risen from the victim (bullied) to one of the strong. Nobody bullies me anymore. My personal initiative and my desire to be strong is what got me out of that situation. God bless the strong. I couldn’t imagine the man I’d be if I didn’t go through what I have. Situational awareness is everything. Outside of Tampa I pulled into a gas station and getting out of the car realized I was on the edge of the ghetto. The boys loitering there were not churchgoers. My family was in the car and the high stakes made the situation serious. I went into high-alert and put my head on a swivel and noticed a “man” making a beeline for me from behind the pump. He looked exactly like you’re imagining. I jumped into my car and locked the door as he reached for the handle and yanked on it. Then I took off. If I hadn’t been actively scanning I never would have seen him coming. I had no training, it was a natural reaction, probably defensive prey instinct. I wasn’t prey that day, thankfully.

Good points. I prefer 3-4 o’clock carry simply because I am in my vehicle a lot and I can draw from there even with my seatbelt on. Also, the importance of your phone - not just to call for help, being able to put it on speaker with 911 while you deal with something/someone waiting for the cops, but taking pics of a suspicious person, vehcile, etc to share with LE if necessary, mapping, looking stuff up, etc but like you guys said never lose your SA. I also use the heck out of my non-weapon light because I seem to drop things under the seats of my truck and everywhere else you can imagine. The less time I am searching under my seat, the more time my head is up and on a swivel. Good stuff guys!

They are so consumed with their phones and tiktok and facebook. It's a good way to get hurt or killed. One thing to add, is your hearing. You can get alot of information from paying attention to the sounds around you too. Pay attention to what you are hearing. your hearing will actually get sharper by practicing this. Great video guys. I am not 21 yet, so I don't carry a firearm, however, I do still have some basic EDC that I carry. on terms of knives, I carry a Kershaw Cyro II. It's a small pocket knife with assisted opening. It's legal in all 50 states, and if you know what you're doing, I've snuck it through multiple TSA's before. They're pretty easy to find if you have a scheels store nearby. Wallet: currently I use just a leather pouch, but I would love to get a ridge wallet, or something similar to what Alex has. Flashlight: I have a mechanics Pen light that I got off a tool truck a while back when I was working at a Dealership. It's super bright, rechargable, and reliable. My one thing with it is that it's pretty long as far as flashlights go. My ideal setup, would keep the Kershaw, get a shorter Flashlight (preferably from the same brand). Glock 17 mounted on the pelvis, and a Ridge wallet. I will say however, there have been times when for one reason or another, I have not had gear, and simply having situational awareness saved my life

Surprised there is no mention of OC spray. The application of the hot sauce fills the same role as the taser, easier to carry, deploy effectively against multiple threats, inexpensive many benefits without the proximity and difficulties of a taser or stun gun.

    • @IronInfidel

OC spray is definitely an option. In my personal experience, I do not like OC spray for a few reasons. Delayed onset of effects (about 10-30 seconds), it does not stop people with a high threshold for pain and there is almost always cross contamination. I'm not saying it is a bad option, but I personally prefer taser for those reasons (tasers have flaws aswell).

I understand the desire to have consistency with technique, but there are plenty of body stacking crime fighters who AIWB when off duty. If the difference of clearing a cover garment isn't going to fuck you up, then the difference in holster placement won't either. There's more differences involved in going back and forth between driving automatic and manual vehicles.
Mike Pannone talks about this subject. He suggests what he calls " Starting up a program." It's simply a matter of getting some good deliberate dry reps with whatever carry position you're going to be rocking that day, before you head out into the wild. If you do it right, and mentally focus on the position/technique change, then you're not going to forget and accidentally go for your gun in the wrong carry position.
