Great video. You have presented a lot of practical, real world advice. Long ago, I had the opportunity to save the life of a motorcyclist who had just been in an accident. He had a punctured femoral artery, which was rapidly spurting a lot of blood. At that time, I did NOT have a tourniquet, so I had to hold my thumb against his wound, which was surely much more painful for the victim than a tourniquet would have been but it bought him enough time for the paramedics to arrive. Nowadays, I DO carry a tourniquet, chest seal, bleed stop and a few other trauma items everywhere. I recommend that everyone get advanced first aid training. It could be your own loved one whom you save!
I saved a fellow Marine who tried to self delete with a tourniquet. They taught me how to make one from our belts, my training kicked in instantly and I ended up saving his life. God gave me the strength to give him another chance. Semper Fidelis Warriors.
I had to read twice. I thought the fellow Marine was using a tourniquet. I now see that you did. Jokes aside, good on you and I pray he's doing better.
I’m a motorcycle rider and I did the Stop the Bleed training. It’s very critical to know what to do when someone needs it. Great advice! I also have a Ruger SP101 and I had a one hour training almost 8 years ago. No way I’ll know how to properly use it now. I keep telling my husband that I have to go for more classes and he says that I don’t need to do that. Well you just gave me the “push” to go for it. Calling tomorrow to schedule a few classes! Thank you 🙏🏻
It’s great to see like minded individuals sharing simple EDC gear preferences, regardless of discipline. We are in the same house, just different rooms. Stay safe brothers and sisters.
Also former swat (part time team) and it's funny how similar things are I carry! Added flex tie to my kit immediately because he's 100% right. One additional thing if I may, a whistle might be a good idea
“Know how to use it “ is always great advice. My family always makes fun of me when I get something new because I “play with it” a lot before I think I need it. I like to know what it will do and just as important what it won’t do. I need to have realistic expectations of what I have when need it whatever it is.
I love this show. Just a bunch of really good men telling their life experiences that have all played a roll in protecting our country and its people. I can’t put in words how much respect and admiration I have for all of these great people
We are storyteller species. Like nothing in the universe. To deny or pervert that is to become domesticated and contaminated species, less human than humane or thought full. IMHO.
I love this channel. Excellent work Shawn and Team. Ty all for your service, and ty for having all these servicemen and incredible people on your show.
Great episode Shawn. As a recently retired SWAT operator and firearms instructor, I loved the message Blake was putting out there regarding staying proficient with whatever tool you're carrying. TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN. Thank you
Went to a Stop The Bleed class. I’m grateful for the knowledge. I hate the idea of being stuck in fear, and unprepared at a time of crisis instead of being able to move with the knowledge I’ve learned. Buck & Does, San Antonio, Texas.
... "before we get started... can i say a prayer?" i LOVE that God seems to weave between each conversation with every guest. God Bless you all for testifying to His great calling amongst all of you soldiers. i appreciate you, Sean!
Sig is awesome. I have several. Their customer service is great. Anytime I have an issue or need something they take care of me. Enjoyed the interview with this fine man.😊
Together with my son, I follow your show and am deeply impressed by all your interviews. This interview touched me personally and was impressed by the life story of this amazing man. Your way of interviewing is super because you genuinely value people and also inspire them. I live in the Netherlands, but regularly visit Texas where my son now lives with his wife. After my education at the Green Berets, I joined the police force, where I worked for 23 years. I am now writing a book about my time in the police and will be released next year.... Thank Ya'll for your service and God Bless Ya'll....
I haven’t bought the flex cuffs…yet. But I have now received my own Nomadic Watch fresh from Belfast! My wife purchased for my BD and said that Peter was so responsive & honored to hear this was the one watch I wanted for my 50th.
I asked a cop friend of mine what he fears most when dealing with violent people and he said, without a doubt, knives. He said that someone with a knife that knows how to conceal it and use it is far more dangerous than someone with a gun. Since then I've been taking fighting knife training classes.
About training….I ran a patrol dog/ Explosives dog…and the number one comment was how do you make him behave so well …my response was training everyday. i would tell people that all it takes is 5 minutes a day for a house pet to be well behaved and the excuses I got about how they don’t have 5 minutes a days were ridiculous….great show first time viewer….subbed
This has become my favorite podcast. It has the most interesting guests, Shawn's question what I would like to ask sometimes and his calmness are somehow soothing on me. Love from Germany! WHERE ARE YOU ALL FROM???
Glad to know Blake is nearby. I live in Moore Co, right next door. Fantastic interviews and great setting for your podcast. Low-key but highly informative and I really enjoy. Thanks a lot.
I would also carry a few containers of super glue...can be better and faster than stitches. My Father was SWAT when I was 10-18 so I got to be the class dummy and do all the training plus ride alongs and be a part of a great private security team. lived in japan for a few years and studied the sword and the blade making process, did BUDS at 34 years old and 275lbs, spent 4 years in prison(for a crime I did not commit/Navy and law enforcement corruption CAN be real ;) ) and 2 years of it in a fire camp as a CDC certified wildland firefighter....and most of what has actually saved lives for me, including two of my children and a CDC fire captain, I learned from my grandfather's cattle ranch as a child. I really like the emphasis on the life saving everyday carry stuff in this video! It's easy to hurt people...but I've been surprised how few people know how to save people! Its kind of funny, but of all my training I've had in the last 40 years, I have ACTUALLY saved a handful of lives! But to be honest, I've actually only had to defend my family from emergency accidents, so far nobody has ever attacked us. No martial arts strike, gun or knife will get that piece of gristle out of your child's throat at the restaurant or help your teenage son breathe again when a baseball crushes his trachea, or stop the bleeding of an artery after a car crash, or wake them up after a severe heat stroke...and believe me, watching your 6 year old slowly choke to death is a hell of a lot more scary than ANY fight I've been in.
Not to be that guy, but Jesus also said "Don't be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray in public. Go into your room, close the door and pray". Mat 6
18:10 As a 21+ year and counting cop, and firearms instructor, the biggest thing I see civilians screwing up is knowing use of force laws. I don’t know how many civilians say something like “if I had my gun I would have shot them” or something to that effect. Well buddy, then based on what you told me you would be going to jail. I just had a guy tonight tell me that he would have pulled his gun on a guy hitting his car with his fist. SMH.
As a 20 yr plus street cop in a sanctuary city, I could write a book on what people say. I absolutely hate it when a mom with her small child walks over to me and says, “if you don’t be good, that cop is going to lock you up!”. My reply goes like this, “no son I won’t lock you up. You’re only 6 years old. But what I will do is walk y’all across the street to child social services and get your mommy here some classes on how to parent. I have six kids I don’t threaten my kids with a cop arresting them. It’s called being a parent.! Then I high five the kid and say. “Be a good boy, and you can be a good cop like me someday! “. Nothing like trying to scare your kid with police. Setting the hook to hate cops at an early age.
@@sgteduardo2146I never thought about it that way. I have a friend her kid is scared of police idk why she doesn't know why maybe he saw something that scared him at a really early age and he's not that old he's like 4-5 yrs old and I been trying to get into law enforcement and now I'm wondering if he'll be scared of me if he ever sees me in a uniform cus he likes me rn 😂
Not very refined or pretty but I fell in love with the solar G-Shock model. Not very pretty but I can just throw it on my wrist and basically forget it. It basically takes care of itself. First by automatically charging itself to automatically resetting the time at midnite every day. Heck, I don’t even have to manually illuminate the dial when I need it. Just a simple twist of my wrist and she lights up. I have been wearing the same watch problem free for 5 years and have another brand new one just waiting to replace my all blacked out model if and/or when it ever starts giving me problems but so far so good. It’s kind of a beast in that it still looks as ‘good’ as it did the day I first strapped it on despite the fact that I am in construction and I have never been what you would consider ‘careful’ or ‘gentle’ with it even having to dig asphalt out of the clasp a time or two, lol! Even tho I take my phone everywhere I think I’d be lost without one on my wrist. The very little time I have spent not wearing it, I felt naked and unprepared without it on my wrist. Still do
This dude definitely opened my eyes with that quote. "When you're laying on the ground, the cool factor is gone. You're not cool anymore. You're dying." I didn't get my pistol for the cool factor but when I look at it, I definitely don't train with it like I should.

I love that he isn’t afraid to admit some situations are just easier to barter out of. In no way do I believe this dude would just fold in any situation but being clear headed enough and humble enough to know when to engage or not engage what a beautiful balance of strength and intelligence.

He seems like a genuinely nice bloke! Keep up the great work Shawn, appreciate you.
I consider your show one of my MUST WATCH broadcasts. Thank you.

My stop the bleed course I took was free. A lot of the shooting/training classes I’ve taken have only been 100 to 150 dollars. Worth every penny

Keep these type of videos coming EDC pocket Dumps are awesome !
A man that loves to pray openly is a bold, strong, faithful man.

@ yes, I hate when parents say crap like that. Stay safe Brother
@@sgteduardo2146I never thought about it that way. Had to rewind when he was talking about the Nomadic watches from Belfast as I’m watching this in Northern Ireland. Very cool. Great as always Shawn.
