  • What is the best, brightest compact weapon light? Streamlight's new TLR-7 HL-X is an impressive performer, besting the TLR-7A, Foxtrot2R, and even coming close to the TLR-1 and with a reduced size. Not to mention, the rechargeable battery! Holsters for the TLR-7 HL-X are of course, ready on our site. This may be the best new light on the market.

    • @CallsignWulf
      @CallsignWulf 12 дней назад

      @@WerkzHolsters Fun thing about the PX4, unlike the Beretta 92. You can convert a safety/decock model to G/decocker only, just by taking a detent out of the lever assembly. Instead of needing a whole new piece like the 92's, I did that to mine back when I had one.
      Also thanks for making what I hope is a no compromise solution for a sidecar/mag caddy style holster setup for a Canik MC9 (now I just need to get the gun to be reliable). Everywhere else was some brand I haven't seen before, or had versions with NO LIGHT. Which means no-go for me. I had no idea your mag carrier, at least on that specific model, attaches to the holster, just what I was looking for. Seems like larger gun holsters don't have this though? Plans to expand that feature to them in the future?
      Just caught up with the Q&A video, got my answer there.

    I think Streamlight is slowly updating all their older lights with higher output (both lumens and candela) they seem to have started with the rifle lights with the Protac 2.0 and then the HL-X pro (the better of the two lights definitely) and then the rail mount HL and now the TLR7 HL-X, I'd be VERY surprised if we don't see an updated TLR1 HL-X very soon.
    Comparing the older protac Railmount HL-X with the pro, they're externally identical (aside from the updated tailcap which is backwards compatible by the way), but the LED emitter has been changed (and it presumably is just a much higher performance LED emitter with not a ton of other changes) they both offer 1000lumens, but the new Pro model has basically double the candela of the older model.
    With companies like modlight and surefire (and cloud defensive if they ever release their EPL series of lights) releasing much higher candela pistol lights streamlight has been getting left behind in recent years. I know personally (I have a lot of family members in multiple "local" police departments) many police departments have shed their older TLR1-HL lights in favor of modlite or surefire pistol lights, so I'd bet streamlight has been feeling the loss of sales lately. The only saving grace for streamlight with many departments is that EVERY holster company makes holsters for the TLR1-HL because it has been one of the top "go-to" lights for so long.
    A TLR1 HL-X with 1200-1500lm and 35,000+ candela would be a worthy upgrade if it remained at the typical streamlight price point and retained the expected streamlight durability.
    Love your content, anytime i see an interesting new weapon light release my first thought is ALWAYS "what do Werkz have to say about this new light?"

    • @WerkzHolsters
      @WerkzHolsters  27 дней назад +3

      Excellent breakdown and commentary. I agree Streamlight has slowly been upgrading things, and it's encouraging to see them make the TLR-7 HL-X really perform. I'll be interested to see if you're right on the TLR-1 HL-X. If it happens, we'll drop everything to get a review out in a timely fashion.

      @@WerkzHolsters your channel and a couple others have turned me into a full blown flashlight nerd (in terms of operation and specs, I still don't do much tinkering myself)
      It's also led to growing "irritation" (not truly upset just kinda miffed) that so many lights that are branded or marketed as "tactical" have so many features crammed into them that they're no longer tactical.
      In my opinion a tactical light should have an extremely simple single or double mode UI for use under duress, as high of an output as it can sustain for a reasonable amount of time, and high IP rating, preferably totally waterproof (within reason)
      Finding a light that is both very high performance but also very simple seems to be nearly impossible, every company that makes "high performance" lights seems to be trying to cram 7 different brightness levels and 4 different strobe modes and other pointless (for tactical usage) features into their lights.

    I just got the TLR7 HLX and compared it to the X300U, X300T, TLR7a, TLR 1 and TLR1 HL. I'm thoroughly impressed by this light as it's almost as powerful as the TLR1 HL. I love that it takes the rechargeable batteries as well as cr123a batteries.
    Even with the cr123a, the TLR7 HLX vastly outperformed the 7a it replaced and was similar to the original TLR1.
    I swapped the HLX face cap onto the 7a and saw an improvement so much i pre ordered one for the 7a I'll be putting on my back up edc.

      I don't think the pl350C is worth looking at with the TLR7 HLX being similar performance at half the cost.

      @@freneticfanatic biggest pros for the modlite is the fullsize head option and for those who already have the body, as-well as using a more common (and probably cheaper) battery.
      Of course having multiple PL350s and several more rifle wmls from them, I can't really make an argument for the C against the HLX lol. I personally like the switches more on the 7 and I find them as a company more tolerable with better customer service. And like you said, the cost sells itself, even if I have to stock yet another proprietary battery.
      Need to give the new surefire another glance as-well to see how it competes.

    I was told by Customer service that they did not make a holster for the HL-X or do you think they did carry one for my particular setup? Do Werkz do custom holsters?

    Make an IWB left hand appendix holster for a Hellcat PRO with this new TLR-7 HL-X and I'll buy two. I have two of your holsters already for Hellcat PRO with a TLR-7 Sub.
    EDIT: Make some left hand appendix options for Wather PDP compact 4 inch with a Surefire X300 and this new TLR-7 HL-X and I'll buy those as well.

      The G43x MOS rail is not the right size for the TLR-7 (non-sub) lights. We have to wait for a Sub version to come out...

      Dude it will not blind you unless you are just dumb. I have tested “blinding myself” with a cloud defensive rein 3.0 which is almost 100k candela by shining it on a white wall. And guess what I was still able to see just fine. Stop spewing fudd lore

      @@freneticfanatic it’s a rifle light. I guess if your rail is long enough, one could use the shorter version then I would probably have a holster made by one of the 1000s of kydex holster makers.

      The comments on this video seem to reflect your opinion, and many are speculating the TLR-1 could get an update in the future. If Streamlight does release an upgraded TLR-1, we'll bend over backwards to get it reviewed quickly!
