A better solution than weak speakers that others can hear too would be bone conduction, ideal as the frames touch just the right part of the head. When they get this improvement and when images can be projected inside the lenses to replace device screens, I'm in!
I thought this too but after getting a pair I’m now convinced that bone conduction (like the bose glasses) would have been inferior-the speakers on these definitely sound loud and good enough. A lot of people (with an iPhone) complaining about volume seemingly forgot to disable the “reduce loud audio” option in settings

This is one of the best thing of the century on my opinion. On my last vacation I used my glasses 95% of the time and the phone 5% to capture moments. It replaced my Airpods, GoPro and phone to take videos.
I'll be very interested when glasses include a heads-up display and lenses adjust to light level. Very glad to see Meta teaming up with Ray Ban to bring something like this to market.
It's getting close to being something I'd consider buying. The fact you can get prescription lenses fitted is a big plus, and the fact they look like ordinary glasses but I can't see me buying them until they get mixed reality sorted on these things. When that happens, I'm in!
@@neighborhoodtrollmy guess is that these glasses are coming out now because they already have the tech for mixed reality but they need a few more years to polish it. And these glasses are to help adopt people to that new platform.

I think they are 1-2 years away from more practical and being able to integrate our own LLM's in them . And 2 -3 years away from having a slicker design longer battery, better cam, better processing, 3-5 years away from a mass lifestyle shift.
I probably agree with you. To be honest I really wasn’t expecting them to be just as good as they currently are. Definitely feels like living in the future a bit.
I actually want these. They look good and seem useful...too bad about it being tied to Meta. I might get them if they are jail broken to get rid of the Meta stuff. I just want a good enough camera/Mic and Bluetooth connectivity on a pair of Ray -Bans.
@@MarcusCreatesI bloody love that, or if they’d make these so you could connect to my Apple Watch so I can leave my phone behind. I do daily dog walks on the beach and only carry my phone in case I see something photo worthy. That and the ai assistant sound great, super handy in the workshop when my hands are busy. Great review, thanks. 👍
I am in the same boat. I have my own AI self host infrastructure. My core of mobile apps have connected to my own services for years. I am not optimistic. I have waited over a decade for a decent open source smart watch.. oh and an E-ink reader as well. There are always shortcomings when jail breaking and much to be desired. Maybe now is the time we will see fully open hardware kits created by a community. We no longer need corporate cloud services for speech recognition and basic alexa / siri tasks. An open source crowd fund initiative might actually deliver. The timing is right.
New to the channel, and great video! Really nicely formatted, prepared, and presented. I tried out these sunglasses and ended up loving them enough to buy a second pair in prescription-definitely one of my favorite tech products to recently come out (especially when the multimodal AI finishes public beta testing shortly). I will say I was dying laughing when you described “having meta in my head” at 9:10 😭
I see an issue already- most people’s nose sweats when plastic glasses are on and with the connection piece being under the nose area of the glasses that moisture will cause corrosion and problems with that area.
Hahaha. Hadn’t thought of it like that but it’s definitely the less of two evils. I’m not heads down distracted while my kids are living their lives in front of me.
These glasses are becoming really interesting and over time I foresee it becoming mainstream as the adoption rate increase due to technology advancements. Are they also compatible with Android? I would love to see audio GPS route navigation integrated into these glasses, that would assist reaching destinations without being distracted using Google maps on my phone.
I think my biggest issue with this is people taking them into spaces like bathrooms and changing rooms, because even with the light, they are still more discrete than having your phone out
An interesting next step. I integrated an Apple Watch into my life a few years ago and find that I don't reach for my phone as much. It helps manage notifications and allows me to access my calendar etc at a glance. Sounds like to glasses could be a good way to go. I do find that I'm charging something regularly. Also, I keep a 10,000 Ma battery close now.
Great presentation, Marcus. What's your guess on these glasses recording at 4K with landscape option? For one's own safety in a crowd at night, can the little white light be turned off or covered with a black dot?
The only thing I don't understand how they missed are the speakers. They should not exist. This is the perfect device to have bone induction integrated to the back of the arms. It would make the product way more discreet and elegant.
Not enough to spend money on, really. It would've been cool if it had AR capabilities to show notifications and directions on your lens. Also, translation and "what am I looking at" features would be cool. It lacks features to make it appealing, it's just a pair of glasses with a camera and a headset. They need more than that.
I have been interested in a smart glass wearable for some time now. It seems like they've finally reached a point where they can be useful in some everyday tasks for me. Even though I don't wear regular glasses, I might try the sunglass version. The Ai integration is the major selling point to me.
I think people like myself will want our own open source LLM's in them instead of Meta's. Being able to train it what you do everyday who you speak with, how to improve could be beneficial to life and individuals would be able to sell or license their own data if they want like Trons discs - wait did i just create another new type company ? 🤔
What would a game changer is if it can replace the lens on demand like with Oakley Holbrook frames which Rayban also owns. Bose frames does the same. This will help me switch between prescription and sunglasses
To add…features like stabilizer for video recording that will be good for outdoor activities so i can ditch my go pro and gymbal accessories .Btw, I asked if I can use my RB meta glasses for running, unfortunately they don’t recommend it.
This is truly integrative tech. With so many people immersed in smartphones and beyond, having the ease of wearing a discrete camera and personal assistant in one's glasses is pretty slick. Your habitual routine with the glasses which you often extend to other glasses reminds me of my treating a previous laptop like a touchscreen. Technology changes us, both individually and collectively. I see why you like them, and I'm a geezer.🙂
He's not consuming as much social media content and getting sucked into a bunch of stuff he doesn't intend to do when he first picks up the phone. The point is that the glasses are keeping him in his real life instead of directing his attention to the phone's screen.
As an artist and maker, there’s a lot I like about the idea of a wearable POV camera. I would love to be able to record my process in landscape mode, and I would love to be able to record videos longer than 60 seconds of what I’m doing. I do like the idea of having POV videos of making things without having to set up an overhead shot (and without needing to keep my head out of the shot while I work). I don’t think the tech is quite there yet, but it seems promising for what I’d want to use it for. Other reviewers have talked about the need to adjust the angle of their head to accommodate for the camera being only on one side, and that might create postural problems in addition to the stiffness and back issues that come from sitting in one place and making stuff for hours on end, so that’s another drawback for me. Thank you for describing what you like about these glasses. I can see how reducing the impulse to bury your face in your phone could help in regards to being more present with the people and life that’s happening around you. Separating the camera/talking on the phone/listening-to-audiobooks functions of a smartphone from the parts that demand my visual attention would be helpful for me as well, as someone who wants to spend more time creating and less time consuming what others have created. That said, thank you for creating this video!
I've used HUD glasses for exercise for years, these are a natural extension of that approach. Not a fan of Facebook and won't be leaning in for a product that is all about your information for them to sell.

Thanks Marcus for reviewing this, I have question, probably stupid one. I am just concerned about health related issues of glasses on long run. As it is so close to your brain, and eyes, and important organs, anything to worry about electromagnetic radiation from the glass?
We looked at these in vision express, didn’t give any personal details to the shop, this morning I have this video on my YouTude, thanks META, love you tracking movements 🎉, the glasses were great too, not too heavy, looking like a great birthday present 🎉🎉🎉
I’m late to this party, having recently started researching so called smart and AR glasses. ..I don’t think these have enough features and usability to suit my needs. Also I’ve hibernated my meta account. Because of my concerns about privacy. I don’t mind meta having my information, what I do object to is the sharing or selling of my information and data . So like these glasses I’m not quite there yet ..
I've owned these for a month or so now. Used them a lot and even received compliments on the way they look. It's helped me shoot video when I'm doing photography as well as when I'm recording when I'm walking my dogs and other silly videos for FB stories. these are great, though they are not perfect.
These glasses need to have a constant connection to your phone to use all the features, so going without your phone would seriously reduce the ability of these glasses to a camera, would they not!
As I said, it’s not a perfect system. I still bring my phone with me. But it reduces the number of times I pull it out and sets of the addictive phone loop.
I see, so leaving the phone at home and using cellular Apple Watch would not be possible? I thought the photos and videos get stored on the glasses and you can upload them to your phone later
Love your content Marcus! Kind of a strange question, but what is the green shirt you're wearing in this video? I really like it! Thanks for all the videos and happy new year!
I use it for a year now. Here are the issues: 1. Facebook: I hate and do not use FB, I only get to the point of pairing it to my phone. 2 Battery, if use for conversation, it only lasts around 2 hrs or less in total. 3. Volume: if you can hear it, so are people around you.
I would say the only negative is I can only record up to 1 minute in length; however, the Meta Ray Ban Smart Glasses are nice especially being able to obtain 'prescription' glasses. I am addicted to mine as well. I do utilize mine for listening to music, work calls (via bluetooth) and receiving calls on the go especially while driving via double tab to pick up the call and double tab to end the call. Great video. Thanks!
Great video, did you order to match your optometrist script? I have the rayban stories and love them and wondering if it’s worth the upgrade for just the AI
I did get my prescription. And they’re great. The video quality is way better than the Stories. And they’re just faster all round. I’d say give them a go.
Great video Marcus! I think it’s great that these save you from taking out your phone to capture moments that often happen to fast to be captured with with a phone.
Great review, waiting on mine to e delivered, first time on your channel, I paused the first b roll and said, wait a minute thats O Callaghans strand! Needless to say subscribed now! 👍
Great review! I travel a lot and was looking to get an action camera for that reason but this seems like a viable option. Is there be an option to take longer videos? Or is 60 seconds the limit?
If you cant scroll and watch stuff whats the point? Thats 95% of whats being done on a phone.. who wants to barely hear a phone call or film in 2k for 60 seconds😂😂😂
Discussing the speakers (4:30-ish) - I'm surprised this kit not use bone conduction instead of speakers. I use Aftershokz Aeropex, brilliant for what I need. Also, until I listened to you I didn't realise how little I use my phone! I'm a luddite by comparison.🙂
Excellent video! Do the glasses require you to subscribe to the 4 version, or will the 3 version suffice? Or does meta have their own AI integrated into the glasses?
Over 80% of the world use Android phones. So do these glasses support this OS? Can you project images on the lenses? Can the lenses be tinted? This basic information would be helpful to viewers.
My point exactly. It's too easy to hack with a simple black sticker. People are nuts for being so gullible and not understanding what they are getting into. They are already having troubles thinking for themselves, soon it will become completely impossible for them.
Integrated is a bit of stretch. It will ping in Facebook meta server and answer back. It would have to have been useful to see the latency of Llama answers without edit. I query chatgpt from my Apple Watch.
This is so fantastic, I definitely would want sunglasses and it will make all be more concious of their privacy. Like dressing rooms ETC, I think it's so beneficial to have hands free in different situations and also all that you mentioned. The fact you need your phone on you isn't really a downfall as we don't really go many places without one, however it would be cool to have a separate option for those that want a camera and video without phone but that would probably be 5 years away, were these are here now.
I made a prototype from some Chinese glasses with a camera and I have managed to control them without touching them or saying a single word. What's more, you can look at me with them on and I'll give you $100 if you guess when l'm taking photos or videos of you. I am doing some things to get a superior prototype and launch them on the market through crowdfunding, but I am going slowly since I have never launched any other product. The control system using cephalic-facial gestures can be incorporated into any glasses, including Ray-Ban | Goal. The sensors that I incorporate are 3 and they do not consume any additional energy to function, in addition, I also made a system for them to charge them while you use them without it being noticed and it has turned out as I expected. The glasses still look identical, you don't notice anything additional when you wear them.
Just understand that should you lose your case you will have to go through the insurance to get another pair because the charger or any charging system for the glasses arent sold separately and that sucks
I have single sided deafness. For many years they’ve offered a cross over glasses…speaker on the deaf ear side with wiring run through the frame of the glasses w a speaker on the good ear side. Always considered getting them and wondering if something like this would work
I purchased a two-years ago version and had to buy my first iPhone to work with it. I just used them for music and manual video/photo capture. I’ve been thinking about getting a new pair as I have the first pair away.
Depends what your needs/wants are. I rather use AirPods Pro for some things, (music and phone calls). My go to for a phone replacement though is my cellular Apple Watch Ultra.
This is exactly what I needed. I was wondering if you could get prescription lenses instead of the sunglasses. These would be a welcome upgrade from the Razer Anzus I currently use.
So maybe like the apple earbuds leak that can sense brainwaves, the glasses could have hardware in an arm or something to monitor simple brainwaves for simple controls and maybe it could lead to the glasses sensing a lot and being able to use the glasses with mind control capabilities similar to how a game can be operated or how the ai senses words through brainwaves or images. Could be used in gaming as well to develop a dope controller that uses the same technique to make a person move in a game or a robot.
My question is, .. what are the privacy laws in place prior to the release of these? As well, is this the next step to reading=knowing/controling minds? Asking for a friend....
In the video you say they only shoot in portrait mode, but the shots of you outside show the video in landscape mode. How are you doing this? Which video editing software are you using to stretch the video from portrait to landscape? Do you think Meta will add landscape/wideview video recording in future updates? Thank you in advance and looking forward to your thoughts.

Shhhhhhh that's the next generation 😂I hear ther working on one of those shake generation batteries 🔋 wireless charger, only for some reason solar wasn't thought of either just copper ball suppository with 3 extra self lube rubber boots 1 ribbed 😅
Weird.
I would prefer bone conduction as well. I don't like the idea of others potentially hearing what's being said to me, or even hearing if I'm just listening to a podcast or audio book.
@@bluethunder90They're very inaudible to others unless listening at loud volumes. Middle volume and below no one can hear much.
The presenter came across as authentic and helpful - this coming from someone first checking these glasses out. Appreciate the video.
Thanks buddy. Doing my best here. 😊
He largely did. He agreed the sound is pretty rubbish and you need pods to hear people 4:42 , people can hear them when it is quiet 4:50 Disagree about the AI which is poor as it works only 50% of time. Try asking to translate a word into French or another language. IMPORTANT - AI does not work outside the US on these glasses.
Battery?? I don't think he covered the fact that the battery lasts about 2 hours with general use, and as little as 1 hour or less if you were out listening to music and taking some video/photos.
I would suggest waiting 1 or 2 more year for the next model(s) which should improve these things, or when Headphones integrate the same technology, namely taking images

Makes sense. They’re super cool though.
He Said "intergrated" in a few years this guy is getting chipped and Will recommend this to you
mixed reality with that ordinary glass design wont come until 2050...theres simply no technology that can make it happen.
@@neighborhoodtrollmy guess is that these glasses are coming out now because they already have the tech for mixed reality but they need a few more years to polish it. And these glasses are to help adopt people to that new platform.
No need to be saucy, because in a few years after that it will be CHIPPED or OUT, no bank account, no LEGAL employment (contracting or otherwise) maybe only ARMY wet work in some back lands....
Definitely feels like living in the future a bit.
their end goal with these is to integrate AR capabilities as well; think Tony Starks AR glasses in Spider Man.
I actually want these. They look good and seem useful...too bad about it being tied to Meta. I might get them if they are jail broken to get rid of the Meta stuff. I just want a good enough camera/Mic and Bluetooth connectivity on a pair of Ray -Bans.
I’m sure this is just the beginning. Give it 12 months and there will be an Apple and Google version.

@@MarcusCreates it's hilarious that this comes as a relief to some "oh thank god, I trust the other two so much more"
New to the channel, and great video! Really nicely formatted, prepared, and presented. I tried out these sunglasses and ended up loving them enough to buy a second pair in prescription-definitely one of my favorite tech products to recently come out (especially when the multimodal AI finishes public beta testing shortly). I will say I was dying laughing when you described “having meta in my head” at 9:10 😭
I adore the combination of stylish leather and glowing button
I see an issue already- most people’s nose sweats when plastic glasses are on and with the connection piece being under the nose area of the glasses that moisture will cause corrosion and problems with that area.
Now you’re addicted to your glasses
Hahaha. Hadn’t thought of it like that but it’s definitely the less of two evils. I’m not heads down distracted while my kids are living their lives in front of me.
at least he makes eye contact with people now..
Nice video Thank you ! 6:34 How did you take these Horizontal videos with the Ray-Ban Meta, please? :o
This type of long-form review is what I'm here for. I was looking for something like this for the Meta Ray Bans. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing!
It does fell like it was a miss
... and if you have to have your phone on you, you could pair your earbuds for a much better listening experience.
@@prodigy_xd but you need you phone for earbuds as well... the glasses are for a different experience
Not enough to spend money on, really. It would've been cool if it had AR capabilities to show notifications and directions on your lens. Also, translation and "what am I looking at" features would be cool. It lacks features to make it appealing, it's just a pair of glasses with a camera and a headset. They need more than that.
Does it play background music for you whenever you talk? Because apparently it's important to have.
I have been interested in a smart glass wearable for some time now. It seems like they've finally reached a point where they can be useful in some everyday tasks for me. Even though I don't wear regular glasses, I might try the sunglass version. The Ai integration is the major selling point to me.
I totally agree!

That would be cool
To add…features like stabilizer for video recording that will be good for outdoor activities so i can ditch my go pro and gymbal accessories .Btw, I asked if I can use my RB meta glasses for running, unfortunately they don’t recommend it.
That would probably done digitally as it is too small to have an actual gyroscopic device.@@BeetRoot-n8n
Strapping a phone to your face isnt breaking your phone addiction, its taking you deeper into it.
Fair 😂
Whaaaaat! How did you get it to not film vertically!?!?
I changed the orientation in post. You can do it on your phone. Simples. 😊

So you zoomed in and cut out the top and bottom?
I thought he just held the glasses sideways
I prefer the older versions pic/vid format myself and the bonus is they are older and half the price used.
so you broke your smart phone addiction for another addiction???
It seems like he’s breaking his social media addiction
I've used HUD glasses for exercise for years, these are a natural extension of that approach. Not a fan of Facebook and won't be leaning in for a product that is all about your information for them to sell.

Thanks Marcus for reviewing this, I have question, probably stupid one. I am just concerned about health related issues of glasses on long run. As it is so close to your brain, and eyes, and important organs, anything to worry about electromagnetic radiation from the glass?
Someone please tell me whether if the LLM runs locally or only via your phone?

Question: Do you know the radiation exposure of the glasses compared to the ear buds?

It's helped me shoot video when I'm doing photography as well as when I'm recording when I'm walking my dogs and other silly videos for FB stories. these are great, though they are not perfect.
What would you change?
These glasses need to have a constant connection to your phone to use all the features, so going without your phone would seriously reduce the ability of these glasses to a camera, would they not!
As I said, it’s not a perfect system. I still bring my phone with me. But it reduces the number of times I pull it out and sets of the addictive phone loop.
I see, so leaving the phone at home and using cellular Apple Watch would not be possible?
I thought the photos and videos get stored on the glasses and you can upload them to your phone later
@@Lun4rVisi8n this is a valid point. Marcus - have you tried using only cellular watch+ the glasses?

Not a strange question. I’m flattered. It’s an overshirt by Barbour. I’m a huge fan of the brand.
META has censored private chats between friends. Who in their right mind would give them one cent today? Have we learnt nothing from the past 3 years?
lol
I use it for a year now. Here are the issues: 1. Facebook: I hate and do not use FB, I only get to the point of pairing it to my phone. 2 Battery, if use for conversation, it only lasts around 2 hrs or less in total. 3. Volume: if you can hear it, so are people around you.
The very second he said “Meta” my heart sank. No thanks
Thanks!

Hahaha
Discussing the speakers (4:30-ish) - I'm surprised this kit not use bone conduction instead of speakers. I use Aftershokz Aeropex, brilliant for what I need.
Also, until I listened to you I didn't realise how little I use my phone! I'm a luddite by comparison.🙂
The WHOLE REASON I want these, is to secretly record. A little black tape should take care of that.
🤓
They already thought of that lol. It won't let you start recording if it senses the light is covered 😂
Yes. No. Yes. 😊
The problem is the RF and Bluetooth signals on your head 24/7 is not good for you. 😅 but still pretty cool. I’d black out the camera led day one.
My point exactly. It's too easy to hack with a simple black sticker. People are nuts for being so gullible and not understanding what they are getting into. They are already having troubles thinking for themselves, soon it will become completely impossible for them.
Hopefully there's a setting in the app to toggle the light on/off.

I happened to find the first 4 minutes helpful. Do you go to every RUclips video and comment what the video isn’t?

It’s lightning quick. As in no real noticeable delay.

Toss your phone. I did it 8 years ago. Just do it and don't look back. Mankind didn't have phones for hundreds of thousands of years and we did fine.
As if the world isn't already insane enough with the phones. The next step toward human madness.
Undoubtedly
It shoots only on portrait mode? That makes them completely useless for most recoding, too bad..
I do not want meta on my face lol
Your face booked
Does the smart glasses have the capacity to analyse text, and have the LLAMA reply with explanation?
Great vid. Any way of connecting them just to Apple Watch? So wouldn’t need to bring your phone? If you have cellular that is
Afraid not. They need to connect to a Meta View app on your android or iPhone.
Thank you for the review.
Can you set the 1 minute video to take continuously for an hour or so??
Thank you! Getting my pair next week and your video was very helpful in getting me set-up.
Does the device also record sound? Ps what brand of over shirt are you wearing? Really like the big pocket!
Depends what your needs/wants are. I rather use AirPods Pro for some things, (music and phone calls). My go to for a phone replacement though is my cellular Apple Watch Ultra.
where are all the pictures and videos that you take saved?? Automatically to the mobile or??
They are synced with a Meta Ray-Ban app. You have the option to save them to your iPhone photos (which I do).
I m waiting for this smart glasses to be able to watch video and text message . This helps people having problems memorise list of stuff and notes.
Not sure, if the cameras are necessary. Would best to have a radar or lidar.
They tend to be expensive. Can they be repair in the future or they just disposable?
