Square Enix lately, has been doing not to well with title like Forspoken and Babylon's fall.
I guess it's a combination of investor's greed, lack of fan insight and trying to get an audience that never is satisfied.
It seems there are a minority in China that has bought into the feminist movement. Snowbreak, a gacha shooter that went into a more fanservice direction, supposedly removed all male illustrations in a attempt to deter such players. Thankfully, I doubt the movement would be supported by businesses and politicians as the US did. China already faces a declining birthrate, the feminist movement would only make it worse.
Japan on the other hand is closely tied to the US, while I don't see a woke movement in the Japanese populace, I see American credit card companies attempting to push this onto Japanese game sites that deal with R18 stuff like DLsite. As for Square Enix, I think they were pushed into DEI by Sony Interactive Entertainment, a division of the America arm of Sony that deal with Playstation. Now that they've distanced themselves from Playstation, we can hope they'll distance themselves from DEI as well.
China is a superpower of the East. There is literally no reason for them to listen to the west for any matters.
I'm really rooting for this project to proceed. I have delighted in the animation coming out of China. I would love to see more Chinese stories in video games, made by Chinese people, mostly aimed at a Chinese audience, but available to me too.

Whadda ya mean "sometimes we need a good game?" That should be all the time. As for having diversity in a game? Not to sound old, but growing up in the 90s and early 2000, we had a lot of games that carried "diverse characters" and were still fun to play like Streets of Rage 1-3, Zero Tolerance(which was a lesser known Doom/Wolfenstein Clone), Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Twisted Metal, and Jet Set Radio to name a few.
These DEI consultants are acting like diversity in games is new, because that's because they haven't been gaming for 30+ years like some of us. So really, they're trying to fix something that isn't broken, and for what? Validation and clout, not to "make the industry better."
Games that will improve the industry at this point are games like Stellar Blade and Black Myth Wukong, and it's no surprise that they're made by Asians. Hell if anything it's history repeating itself just with China and Korea at the helm instead of Japan, but who's to say Japan ain't far behind?
@@DemonicRemptionHeyo man, sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant that instead of focusing on quotas, game devs should be focused on making a good game having better gameplay elements, good story and most of all imo, Replayability, a game they would love to work on. I can understand that having a good game every single time would be awesome but wouldn't it be better if games innovated in new areas, like for example kingmakers for the seamless switch from third person to RTS, and Helldivers for an actual live service with the major order thingy.(I haven't played it yet but you get what I mean). Also I would like to add another title or a group to the two games you've mentioned, the indie gaming scene that has been boosted during this time. They've have contributed alot to the industry as a whole. And even Palworld was a knockout success ( even tho it's early access)
As for Japan, they've got alot of companies working on awesome games fam, also Nintendo Japan my man.

Prototype 1, Assassin's creed unity, freedom fighters, just to name a few. All these games have become cult classics and have created their own special audience

Sorry, the fault is mine. I tend to think people will understand me if I'm blunt and to the point. I forget how sometimes I need to be specific to the topic discussed.
Because you're right that devs need to focus on making a good game, having good gameplay elements and a good story, and replayability. What I was trying to convey was "back in my day" that was the norm. We had games that had good gameplay, replayability, and good stories. And many like the games I listed in my prior comment naturally had "diverse" characters.
Like I said, these people like Anita Sarkissean, Zoey Quinn, and consultants like Sweet Baby Inc., and Black Girl Gamers are trying to fix something that isn't broken. But like I also conveyed, they're doing it for validation and clout, not to make the industry better.
As for the indie scene? We gotta fight like Hell to make sure games like Palworld, HellDivers, Stellar Blade, and Black Myth Wukong are allowed to exist. Because the sad reality about these clout chasers is their slaves to the very system they claim to fight against. Which is why their efforts seem more regressive than progressive. And they're gonna do whatever they can to try and keep their place at the top of the mountain. Which is commendable since the entertainment industry is a competitive one. But when their tactics are insulting and bullying consumers for not buying their product, they're doing it wrong.
Black Myth Wukong is a game worth buying. So tired of woke ideals from California getting into everything

Yes.the same here, I didn’t have sense of piracy or original when I was young. But played a lot of games. And it had influenced almost the whole generation, now we are adults and have money to pay the original ones.

The reason why I'm okay with Piracy is because fans generally have limited budget of money. The Anime and Video Game industry has ONLY been profiting and their profits has ONLY increased.
This means we give plenty of money to them. I may have pirated anime and games, but I've paid SOOOOO much money for them for physical copies too, to the point any asian parent would disown me (exaggeration but you get the point).
And Piracy can save old games for history.
I'm scared to think of how the game would have been vandalized by SBI had the developers given in to their demands.

The majority of gamers in the west are quite tired of the forced ideology warping beloved characters and stories to satisfy one group of people.
Thankfully the internet exists and it’s much easier to gather information from all sorts of places, including people such as yourself by way of just sharing your honest opinion.
The movie “Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons” is one of my all time favorites and I can’t wait to see what this game does with those characters.

I've watched so many Chinese movies/series about Wukong when I was a kid, Thai dubbed. None of the Marvels or DC characters can compare to Wukong. I have been wishing for this game since I was a kid and finally my wish has been answered! I just hope the game translate well into English.
I just hope they include the humor form Journey to the West in the game. It's what makes me love the characters so much. Monkey D Luffy from One piece is essentially a version of the Monkey King and I love the unintended chaos they both create just by living their own true selves.
try watching the god of highschool anime or read the manga if you are more interested in his story. The story isnt as accurate but there are many things they try to keep accurate to the original story like how he is born from stone or how he got penalized by the gods and his wandershipin his former life.

A note on grammar. At 6:41, you said, "women live without no men," -- the correct way to put this is either, "without any men" or "with no men." "Without" and "no" are both negatives, so when you use double negatives, they cancel each other out.
You may hear people saying, "without no men," but that is informal or colloquial speech. As a language-learner, I assumed you would want to practice speaking with proper grammar first (before you learn how to break the rules.)

I also like games such as Until Dawn, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the Resident Evil remakes. I'm not brain washed about woke things. That is for angry children and men who hate women and minorities. I do not like the female characters 'uglification' but I'm not going to go mad about it. If it's too bad I won't buy it. The Star Wars character doesn't look too bad, but she could be a little prettier.
It's interesting to see China's perspective on these subjects, it's very hard to research about anything regarding China online so i don't really know how things are there and how much censorship actually is but i do see that China is slowly starting to produce more interesting media, i wonder if eventually China will have a very popular and huge market in the moerrn entertaiment like Japan and South Korea.
Black Myth Wukong definitively looks like an amazing game and it proves that there is a movement to sabotage any game that doesn't kneels down to Sweet Baby Inc./DEI stuff which is show by media attacking the game after the developers rightfully denied following their agenda, and honestly, it's hilarious how the people who are fighting for diversity and inclusivity are trying to impose their political agenda on another cultures by trying to bribe a Chinese company to put it in a game where it's all about an iconic figure of Chinese culture, the old American Imperialism but under a new clothing of social justice...

DEI influence picks certain groups as preferable, so it's really the opposite of real inclusion. Their influence flattens characters to their gender, preferences, and skin color.
Another problem is that people hired only because they look and act a certain way are often really bad at their work. Hiring 'diverse people' takes time because just looking different is not enough when talent is required. So gamers are pushing back against inclusion because it kills art and innovation and pushes talented people even further away.
Media say people are tired of suerheroes, but for real, people are tired of the message. Good luck on the videos, additional perspective is always welcome!

I was 10 when I read 'Monkey subdues the White-Bone Demon' (the German version though). Now, in my late 50s, I still have that book. Wukong had single-handedly beaten all the superheroes I knew.

I've been watching the development of Wukong for 3 years and I can't wait to play it. It is absolutely a AAA game and I hope that developers in China avoid the woke disaster that is going on in the western gaming industry.
Trust me most people hate the "pc" thing and sweet baby related issues at least in the gaming sphere.

5:04 I think you remember this part incorrectly . Sun Wukong doesn't have 72 forms , but 72 magics which he learned from his first mentor 須菩提祖師/Patriarch Bodhi , and transformation into many forms is only one of those magics .
Aside from that i agree with you and most people , nobody needs America's Political Correctness in a Chinese game about Chinese Mythology , or any games from anywhere . Support this game by all means and ignore all the sweet baby crap those woke lunatics say .
The thing i look forward the most in this game is the 4 Monkeys of Chaos that was referenced in the Journey to the West novel by the great Buddha . 2 of which already knew are Sun Wukong and 6-eared Monkey , so the other 2 would be a great addition to expand the story .

Journey to the West is already full of diversity and inclusion - we have Wukong (monkey) Zhu Bajie (pig) Monk Tang (buddhist) Ox Demon King (cow?) and Princess Iron Fan is a strong female character. Unless maybe they want Chris Tucker to play the role of Wukong, that would be an interesting take and I might even watch/play it...I think
