I just saw this and I appreciate your candor. I appreciate listening to people that love the comic industry. From both a collectors and dealer point of view. Thank you for spending the time.
You seem to have gotten some "haters" in the comments sections of these videos, but I just wanted you to know that I appreciate you taking the time to post these videos. It is an altruistic act, not narcissism, as some seem to think. Taking the time to inform others like this, usually for free, is rare in a youtuber. Nice to have your knowledge base and experience informing your advice for us as well. Thanks for these videos, I look forward to watching the rest.
I have always been an EC & 1950s horror comic fan.10 years ago I purchased a copy of Haunt Of Fear 25 GCG Graded 5.0, I still have it. Graham Ingles was one of my favorite artists for EC.
Camera-dude should of zoomed in on the All Star comic somewhere around 3:00-4:00 mark. It's frustrating to not get a clear glimpse at this remarkable restoring. From that distance and inside the slab, the comic looks so fine that it seems almost unbelievable that it's been restored that well from the trashed bought-condition Eadie describes!
Go to Hero Restoration to see detailed before and after photos of the All Star #3. Go to restoration examples and then click continue reading to see more shots of the book. It was trashed and Mike DeChellis is a wizard !
I have a question for your opinion. I have a full set of the new Godzilla #1's dealer incentive covers (81 covers). I have each of them signed by 2 of the 3 artists. There was only 500 of each cover made for each store. to my knowledge there are only 3 full sets of now. myself, Matt Frank (cover artist) and one other person he knows. What is the best way to keep this set in awesome shape? I was thinking of doing CGC just so in 40 years I could pass the set to my yet to be born kid.
The part where you discuss the book from William Gaines' collection, you didn't mention anything about CGC's "Pedigree" designation on their submission form. Is that where the pedigree designation would be used? To certify that a particular book came from a particular collection? I'm not sure how that works on their submission form, so any insight you have is appreciated.
Yes , that is where you note your understanding of the provenance of a pedigree book . CGC only gives the designation to collections that have been pre determined by them as pedigrees . You can not claim a pedigree title for your own collection unless it is recognized by CGC . There are strict conditions that must be met to qualify and very few collections make the cut . Go to comicpedigrees.com to see the list of accepted pedigree collections and their individual stories . Matt Nelson , of CCS , the restoration/conservation arm of CGC , and various graders at CGC , are the preeminent experts on pedigrees . Case in point , we purchased a raw Young Allies #11 that had been sold by Metropolis as a Chicago copy . It came back from CGC as a Larson . I double checked with CGC to make sure there was no mistake . They double checked , probably with Matt , and verified it . I trust their ruling over Metropolis . Check for our next set of videos coming in a week or two : you will be delighted in our step up in production quality . Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching . Peace
I have a book and I don't remember how I bought it, It was signed by Jim Lee, Scott Williams, Chris Claremont and Bob Harras. It did not come with a Certificate of Authenticity, its part of my Unncany X-men. What can I do?
I have about a dozen PGX books that I would like to resubmit to CGC. There valued at around 50.00 to 200.00, nothing to significant, I was wondering if I could send the books to you, and have you resubmit them to CGC for me. If you do this service how much will you charge me to have this done. I've bought a couple of CGC books from you on E-BAY and I know your a reputable dealer. Thank you !!!
There are dealers that pass on their 20% CGC dealer discount to customers that submit thru them . I do not understand HOW they can afford to do this or WHY they would do this . Pre screening for grade , checking the census , pricing for FMV , selecting service tiers , considering fast tracking , filling out the invoice ( detailing items being sent , computing return postage and insurance , pre doing all the accounting/billing work for CGC ) , properly packaging each separate book , properly boxing the books for registered mail , the cost of delivery to CGC , delivering the box to the carrier and finally receiving it back from CGC , are all a HUGH cost of time and use of experience that is in no way compensated by the 20% CGC discount . I suspect that some of those dealers might gouge on the shipping charges or even charge the $5 per invoice charge as a per item charge in order to get something for their time and effort . We do not pass on the 20% dealer discount to our customers that submit thru us . We are not set up to effectively take shipped in books for CGC . We only take in walked in books where we can examine the books and personally advise the owner of the feasibility of CGCing . If you can bring your books to us and pick them up when they come in , we welcome your business . Furthermore we only end up submitting once we have a short box box full of comics and that means only 4 to 6 subbed lots a year . On top of long CGC return times , you would additionally have our submission lag time . Finally , I do not trust or even like dealing in PGX books ;.I believe my concerns with PGX are echoed by most prominent and respected dealers .PGX has a long and continued history of scandals , controversies , conflict of interests and outright thievery . CGC has not been without the first 3 charges but they are not the outright thieves that the 3 names associated with PGX are : Ryan Elliot , Terence Leder , Daniel Patterson . Check out justafanboy.com and the TMNT scandal for a start . The majority of PGX books that I have handled and/ or cracked , were considerably over graded by CGC standards . Additionally their restoration detection is a joke . I would not advise having PGX regraded as GCG . Leave them as is and get rid of them ASAP . Thanks for your comments.
Robert Ingrao ...They're clearly sealed. If you can cough on something in a plastic container you must have some kind of acid spit or something. Get that checked.

Interesting to see how they rebuild or reprint an old comic back to life. Of course the comic is worthless but better than nothing . Peace . Great video
Even in 2021 I'm learning so much from this video.
I'm new to the comic book collecting hobby and this has been so insightful :)
