When we talk about the high-end Fuji lenses (18, 23, 33, also 90 and 200 mm lm wr, 16-55 2.8 lm wr, 56mm 1.2 wr, 50 mm 1.0), I really don't see why would anyone say fuji isn't there compared to ff lenses. These lenses are comparable with high end ff lenses, because optically those fujinon lenses are exceptional. The 18 mm f1.4 lm wr can compete with the leica q lens. The depth of field is obviously not a problem, too, because on the aps-c you can achieve shallow dof with longer lenses or ultrafast options like 50 1.0 or 56 1.2. However I agree with your wife who said as you mentioned in another video that even for portrait photography you don't need to take pictures wide open. The pursuit for bokeh has nothing to do with good photography.
Was sick of waiting for the x-pro 4 so I got the ZF instead. Thought it was a mistake at first but I've now fallen completely in love with it. I can't even take my xt5 seriously anymore as it feels like a toy. I enjoy the xpro shooting experience but the xpro 4 would have to be something special (which I think it will be) for me to switch back.
Hiya, are you more happy with the images coming out of the ZF? I’ve been eyeballing that camera for a while now and considering a switch from xt5 as well.
@@ozuidema it really took some getting used to (a bout a week). The film Sims are not great nor the in camera editing experience but once you find your way around the camera you feel like a more accomplished shooter. And yes I really feel the images are better, more grown up, if that makes sense. And they edit like a dream. The zoom focus is a genius touch too. First you'll hate it, then you'll love it.
@@soulopticc thanks. The thing I’d miss the most, probably, is my lenses with aperture rings and aperture markings.
@@ozuidema yes the auto lenes are an issue in that respect. I tend to use vintage manual lenes mostly but the if we are honest the aperture dials on the camera are far more practical than having them on the lens it just doesn't look as good 😉
Love your wishlist for the XPro4, and I think you explain very well why some of us love the XPro line so much!
Fact is, other than the optical and hybrid viewfinder, the X-T5 can do pretty much everything _right now_ that a hypothetical X-Pro4 could do. That's if the X-Pro4 is anything like the X100VI and include the same 40mp sensor and IBIS.
I really enjoy your talks about photography equipment in general and the experience you have taken with other systems. I chose to get back into photography with the Fujifilm system back in 2017, xe2s and 35f2. Great colors straight in camera, I cut my teeth back in the day shooting Nikon F3 and AIS or later AFD lenses shot manual focus. The thing that I hated about the xe2s was the so slow way to choose where to focus , no joy stick. I was used to picking either a focus point or distance manually and recomposing, very quickly and without thought. Then Fujifilm came out with the xpro3!!!! YES a really great view finder sharp bright in ev and a wonderful ov ( still learning all the tricks with the sub screen for manual focus, now that Voigtlander has connected lenses. The evolution of the auto focus with a nice joy stick a great improvement. The thing that has sparked my enthusiasm about photography again is the layout of the xpro3, please do not try to sell Fujifilm on abandoning the hidden screen. This will make the xpro4 just like all the other cameras, a big light up box, when you just want some solitude and peace while composing images.
Some great images there, Tudor! Agree that the new 1.4 lenses are pretty (too?) big, which is why I’ve been holding on to my “first gen” 1.4 lenses (23 and 35mm), so far. Although they do not fully resolve the 40mp of my xt5.
This was interesting, up to a point. I find the 'big brands' ranges all a bit bewildering, so many models that have this or can do this or that. I understand they are in the business of selling things but it gets more than a bit GAS. Almost any modern camera can take a (very) good picture with a decent lens attached. The photographer is what makes the real difference and personally I'm still working on that and probably will forever. We need to keep our eyes on the prize - simply enjoy taking good pictures.
I was disappointed when Fujifilm delayed releasing an Xpro4 (or even a '3s' to replace my badly damaged XPro3 . But what is worse, XT5's are hard to find, unless you are willing to buy a new kit lens. They are probably diverting all of their 40 MP sensors to China to deal with the X100VI backlog. It is becoming difficult for me to stick with Fujifilm now because they have become purveyors of 'Vapor Hardware.'
The improvement in auto focus in the X-Pro2 over the X-Pro1 was enough for me to buy the X-Pro2.
There were no significant improvements in the X-Pro3 to entice me to buy it as an upgrade to my X-Pro2.
In fact, other than the addition of true rangefinder manual focusing, I am unable to imagine what improvements the X-Pro4 would have to have to entice me to upgrade my X-Pro2.
I get it, but I dont like the idea of the new 40mp trend and bigger lenses, moreover without focus clutch and distance scale on the lens. I love fuji bodies paired with ttartisan and 7artisans lenses. they seem to have some kind of partnership, because they suit perfectly imo, both in usability and rendering. I use them for everything not just street. I'm shooting a documentary project in a very dark bar, so most of the time Im wide open at 1.2, and with practice it becomes even better than the af of my canon r5 l lenses combo. But Im lazy sometimes and want to use af, so I just received my 23 f1.4 r last week, didnt even consider the new version, its too big, and I love the clutch and distance markings on the lens itself. I read everywhere online bad things regarding af on this one. I dont know... unless they are refering to eye tracking (something I never use), the af is even better than the new 35 f2. In fact, its the most important thing when I use af gear for me, and I dont feel its behing the top tier of canon and works great... and i thought I was peaky about af 😂

I don’t think the next X Pro will not be known as a XPro 4, as the number 4 is considered bad luck in Japan (I think the number pronounced sounds like the word for death!) so it will probably be XPro5? Still happy with my X pro 1’s but will grab one of the new ones should they be released.

I am confused by the video title and is click-baity. It made me think Fuji had released the X-Pro 4 but that is not happening in 2024. And you didn't talk about the X-Pro 4. Just lenses. Anyway, I like your channel.
