I'm overwhelmed by your responses and positive feedback! I was afraid that the channel was "dead" and nobody would care about this video. Thank you so much for coming back, for watching and sharing your thoughts and feelings about this camera!
I want to focus on full-time content creation, I want to inspire people to get out there and capture moments in time, to create memories. Life is difficult and very fragile, so do the thing that makes you happy, what fulfills your soul.
For those of you wondering, I started a Patreon page, hopefully, this will help me get one step closer to becoming a full-time content creator and dedicate myself to making videos like this one. www.patreon.com/jorge_perez

      Dear Jorge,
Your video is always inspirational and high quality.
I was influenced by you to pick up xpro1 and then xpro2 and xpro3….but gear is only starting point, you enlighten me eyes to find beauty around my life.
I suggest you start those “short video” 15 seconds one as trailer and then lead audience to your full content.
I understand your full content is very informative and will not possible packed into those TikTok style shorts….but break them down with highlights moment.”
I been subscribed your channel since your first video.
Unfortunately your top quality video been well buried by millions other videos. Mostly not good as your one.
It is sad, but you need strategy to reach more audience and link them back your full content….
Good news, your high quality video still shining after years and years.

I recently picked up an x-pro 1 and it's one of the best decisions i've ever made. It's small, easy to use, has personality, looks incredible, is comfortable and fun to use. It's a camera I have on me at all times because I really just want to have it with me. It makes me happy just looking at it. Get a camera YOU want to carry with you, and one that makes life easier and more exciting

We’re seeing a lot of RUclipsrs extolling the virtues of these older camera systems, and for very good reason. We hit a great sweet spot of camera design and image quality years ago. What we are seeing from manufacturers now are incremental increases in specs that may or may not be necessary. I still own and shoot the X-Pro1 and it’s hands down one of the best cameras I’ve owned. I keep toying with the idea of getting the X-Pro2 but only if I find it at a steal price. I’ve recently been using the original Canon 5D Classic and 5Dii and they’re amazing cameras. I’ve never been a DSLR shooter before, but now I see why people rave about these camera. The point I’m making is, image quality and camera use was and is subjective, and you don’t need the newest or greatest gear to achieve it.

I love the philosophy of this video and couldn't agree more. My two favorite cameras are my X-Pro1 and Canon 5D (the original one!) because they just work. They have great color and grain and both cameras just make me feel like a better photographer. I started my Fujifilm journey about 10 years ago with the X100T. After decades of film photography, and a few years with some of the first digital cameras, the X100T gave me back the spirit I had lost throughout the years. And then I met you on RUclips, loved your approach and shared your idea of photography. I then acquired an X-PRO1 because I wanted to use multiple focal lengths, loved it again, and finally got an X-PRO2 which, like you, I think is the perfect one. I still use the X100T, and with the X-PRO2 they are to me the perfect "team". One or the other is always with me. Nice to watch you back Jorge !

Fantastic jump in quality with this new video. Thanks for doing this. One question though…when X-Pro2 is enough, why owning X-Pro3? I sold mine today and planing on only using my 1 and 2. They are truly awesome and I only think I see myself getting the 4 next year if it comes with ibis for the shutter improvement in very low light. And you are so right about the fact that Fujifilm needs to offer more aspect ratios. Anyways, let’s enjoy the moment with what we have 😊

    • @Jorge-Perez
      @Jorge-Perez  Год назад +5

Thanks, Niko! I appreciate the kind words! 🙏🏼
Good question! I find that the xpro3 is just a bit faster and more reliable when it comes to focusing. I personally prefer the hidden screen, but in terms of pure value and cost, the xpro2 is the way to go here.
I still love the xpro1 and the images I get from that. So in an ideal world, you would have multiple cameras and choose which one to use depending on your mindset and mood that day lol.
But the reality is that I prefer people to get started and go with something that is "good enough" than wasting their time and life away waiting for the perfect camera, which will most certainly never come.

I bought my X-Pro2 when the X-Pro3 was announced, got one of the last new-in-the-box samples when everyone was gushing over the 3, and never felt that I had a "lesser" camera.
The one important thing for me as an older user when comparing the X-Pro2 and X-Pro1 is that the 2 incorporated a stepless built in dioptor correction, which is a must have for me. It's been decades since I could see through a finder without correction. The X-Pro1 requires external screw in dioptor correction which mean locating them and then hoping your vision does not vary time to time.... no thanks.
I will never sell my X-Pro2.

Well, I watched this piece of art twice. Your words made me touched. I was confused when I saw everybody discuss about specs rather than their works. This kind of discussion seems like people cannot take better photos unless they obtain a camera with better specs. Some of them made excuses for their lack of creativity and laziness of photography by accusing their equips. The discussion of photography was changed into a racing car performance competition. So I quit these discussions and picked up a mint X Pro 3. I bring my camera everyday, everywhere, from Beijing's frozen winter to Shandong Province's mountain, then back to Tokyo's spring field. I thought I have no particular goal for my career named as photographer, but I enjoy moments I captured memories.

Your story and review is spot on! I just wish my photos were half as good as yours. I mainly use my X-Pro2 with manual primes (Pentax SMC Takumars between 28mm and 55mm), and the combination of the OVF and ERF is really great. And my favourite XF lens is the 35/1.4 as well. The rendering suits really well with my style of photos (city walks).
I only taped gorilla tape over the diopter dial, because otherwise it kept rotating too easily. But that's a very minor nuisance indeed.

I joined the Fuji-World in 2012 with the X-Pro1 and upgraded to the X-Pro2 in 2016. I still have the X-Pro1 and I will not give it away, as it brought me closer to my hobby of photography. I skipped the X-Pro3 as the new capabilities did not convince me. Minor increase of resolution, a better Autofocus (which is not an issue for the work I am doing), but a worse OVF. So I am still riding with my X-Pro2 and it's still a great camera. So I will wait for another year to maybe get a major update for the X-Pro4. But for 2024, the X-Pro2 will still be my baby!

  • @matthieuzglurg6015
    @matthieuzglurg6015 Год назад +2

Damn, it sure have been a while!
The X-Pro 2 is one of those cameras that I honestly think will stand the test of time (technically, 7 years and kicking, this is for sure a good start), more so than the X-Pro 3, and for a few reasons.
The first one is obviously the sensor. I have that sensor in my X-T2, and for the last 2 years it's really been delivering some awesome performance. I do video as well, and it's nice video backup camera, the fact that they didn't give the X-Pro 2 all the upgrades they put in the X-T2 via firmware is a real shame (4K recording, F-Log profile etc), cause that sensor + processor combo is really able to put out some work for video.
Second is the build quality. Not kncking the other X-Pro down, but they lack things : The X-Pro 3 will have its ribbon cable for the screen fail at some point, there have been sooo many complaints about it but Fujifilm never bothered to fix the issue. The Rear sub LCD is the first to go generally, and that really sucks. X-Pro 1 isn't sealed. The X-Pro 2, with its fixed (super sharp!) back screen and fully sealed body is by far the most rugged X-Pro camera they've released.
Third is I guess the better feature set and abilities when it comes to controls and ergonomics. Compared to the X-Pro1, it has an additional front dial, ISO sub dial and a joystick (not mentionning everything else that is more customize-able, and much faster thanks to updated specs). The X-Pro3 lacks the magnification window that was in the X-Pro 1 and 2 that allowed for a narrower angle of view in the OVF to use with longer lenses. It also lacks a D-pad which forces you to dig into menus more often (Fuji's replacement for a lack of D-Pad, the touch swipe gestures, are not of any use here since the screen is closed by default).
All of this to say that if there was an X-Pro camera that I'd buy, it would 100% be the X-Pro 2. Only thing keeping me from buying one right now is that I still use my X-T2 often as a B-cam alongside my Nikon Z6 for video, and that besides video the used price is prohibitive : cheapest X-Pro 2 near me right now is 850€, for what is in essence a cosmetic variation of the X-T2 I already own (which I'm fine with, as far as the viewfinder goes).

Oddly as of late I have been photographing people and the 50mm f2 is getting some heavy use. You got me thinking about some of my wide angle scenic shots taken on my 16mm f2.8 and using a more panoramic crop. I have got a shot from Saskatchewan that would emphasises the "Living Skies" idea more with new green growth and a couple of oil pumps in the far background, which in a way reminds me of a Chinese art exhibition I saw many years ago at the Vancouver Museum. One of the killer features of the X-Pro series is the hybrid viewfinder and interchangeable lenses For me the X-Pro 2 is enough, but I would consider changing to a X-Pro 4 if it ever comes to market, just because of the IBIS as I prefer to shot with with available light, fortunately for my hands are still very steady at 75 years.

Interesting perspective, the flexible screen is definitely a benefit for some people, but I think the Xpro series is mainly for people that really really like using a rangefinder style viewfinder. We'll see what happens with the Xpro4 and where Fujifilm takes it!

The prices of older Fujifilm cameras will outstrip the new models if they keep going at the current rate! I sold my X100V (another excellent camera) about a year ago and with the crazy price I got, bought an X-Pro2 and some lenses. There was nothing at all wrong with the X100V, but I wanted a second interchangeable lens body to go with the X-T5 that I use for all those faster moving objects like birds, dogs, children, performers, protesters, etc. The X-Pro2 is a wonderful camera, and the one I enjoy using more than any other (other than the X-T5 I regularly use the very eccentric but lovely Sigma SD Quattro and its Foveon APS-C sensor). I rarely, but occasionally, use the optical VF on the X-Pro2. Otherwise it's just the form factor in general that is great to use with AF or manual focus lenses, mostly manual. And it is a beautiful camera to behold - that's undeniable.

  • @forneverarrow

The X-Pro series are the most "photographic" cameras Fuji ever made in digital era. In the age of hybrid cameras (i don't shoot video btw) the inclusion of a range finder and the analog controls are a spiritual relief for "purists" that don't have the money for a Leica M system. Even though i am using a Sony (i like their zoom lenses more), i thing that Fuji cameras are more inspiring. If they release an X Pro 4 i will possibly buy one!
As for the megapixels, you are absolutely true. I have both a 24mp apsc and a 24mp FF. I have print many A3+ size photos on fine art paper and are looking perfectly sharp (sometimes the apsc photos are even sharper because of the higher pixel density).

@@Jorge-Perez Before I answer, I failed to mention that I was so impressed by your technical and artistic sensibilities in this latest project. Excellent video. It held my attention the whole way through. Glad you’re back Jorge. Now to answer your question: I sold all my gear (xh1, xpro 2, Fuji 70-300, Fuji 16-80 f4, fujicron 35f2, 23f2 and 50f2) in order to downsize and bought the xt3, and two faster fuji lenses 33 f1.4 and 18 f1.4 because i was absolutely frozen with way too many options. I couldn’t decide what to bring on my trips and photo walks. But now that I have this new kit i feel like i’ve given up the portability i had with the xpro 2 and the fujicron lenses. I almost feel like I down graded even though the specs say otherwise. Like you said, the idea is to practice your craft and smaller and lighter gear make this more appealing. Nevertheless, my all consuming job and family make going out and taking photos extremely challenging, but when I do i hope that i’ll love my xt3 and new lenses. From my past use of the xt3 i will tell you that autofocus is noticeably faster and more accurate. Btw, I see you have the xpro 3. Is this a camera that you think is a major upgrade from the xpro2?

Thank you for this inspiring review 🙌🏻 I was confused between xpro 2 and xpro 3 but now I am sure xpro2 is enough.. specially that I am going to upgrade my canon 7DmII that I don’t have fun to carry with me anymore duto the size and weight. Although I still love my sigma 35mm 1.4 lens for canon and I am absolutely amazed that fuji has this same spec lens 🎉

  • @sssf55

I disagree with the X-pro 2 being the most intentional or photographer centric camera in the lineup. The X-pro 3 is the true "photographer" camera. Having used all 3, the X-pro 3 has the absolute best shooting experience and build quality. While the X-pro 1 hands down has the best color reproduction (a one of a kind camera). I don't really get the sudden popularity of the X-pro2. While its a great camera, its definitely the weakest in the lineup. I think its mostly people who want an x-pro 3 without having to deal with the closed back screen.

I get it, but have you tried it yourself? The placement of the buttons, the sooc pics of x-trans III and the better price + the better durability (screen issues of the 3) makes the 2 the overall greater pic imo. It is not always about the better specs. It should feel right shooting it. I had both an this made the decision easy. Of course you can have the opposite experience. Good light and all the best. Great if you are happy with No. 3 😊

    • @vaultdweller966

@@nikofox890 I used the x100f and xe-3 a lot before "upgrading" to x100v and x-pro3, but honestly the difference in image quality with the x-trans 4 sensor is negligeable to me. I couldn't guess the sensor just by looking at some photos, and I believe almost nobody could and it's all mostly placebo effect (I understand you disagree 🙂). But anyway, I was just surprised that the author of the video didn't even explain why he chose the x-pro2 over the 3. I haven't used anything else than my x-pro3 for months, I just love everything about it. I believe the choice of the x-pro2 is more about nostalgia than anything, but I wanted to hear some arguments.
