    Yeah you tell’m Kev! …. Im not even an XPRO lover particularly but you got my juices flowing 🤣. Great content to the video 👍. All hail that 16mp sensor… still cherish my original x70 - please Fuji … listen to this man, he is still a great ambassador for your products, he should be moved upstairs as an advisor/director - it works in football 😉

    X-pro2 user here. I agree, an Xpro4 is an important component of a Fuji lineup moving forward. It's not their biggest selling line, but imo it - and the X100 - is their defining product as a manufacturer. It tells the world how Fuji sees itself. And they are just plain great to use.

    All Fuji has to do is put the new battery, new 40mp sensor, IBIS, and a slightly higher res set of screens in the X-pro 4 and it will sell like hotcakes- esp. given all the X100VI hype. Such a horrible business decision to not have done this yet!

    • @glitch9471
      @glitch9471 5 месяцев назад +2

      No you have to look at it from a economy and philosophy standpoint ; the Pro series was never the best selling lineup from Fuji even it has a cult following (myself included) and just cramming in all the features from the X-T line will turn the X-Pro into something it never was - like all the other generic cameras.

    Couldn't agree more. I'm new to the X-Pro3 and absolutely loving it. The only reason I went with a pre owned X-Pro3 was because I couldn't wait for the X-Pro4....

    Heartily agree with you Kev. I’m a long time X-Pro 2 user and I love the tactile experience that using it brings to my photography. I like the X-E range too but there’s something special about the X-Pro cameras. I really hope Fujifilm don’t give up on them.

    I agree Kevin. Hope they do end up making one. I think they could market it as when you're ready to "graduate" from the X100. I feel like the x100 has sold so well, I see those people as potential buyers of an Xpro4.

    Here here Kevin. Thank you for this considered and forthright appeal. What are they thinking? I still use and love my X-Pro 2 cameras for all my work, including professional work. They are amazing in every respect. You’re spot on about the viewfinder. And why don’t they just get rid of the video and make it a purely photography camera? We should start bc a petition! Thanks again

    I agree with you Kevin, it's definitely time for an X Pro 4. As a devoted X Pro 3 user I'd really like IBIS, the back display screen restored like the X Pro 2 had and a slightly larger grip on the right. I've just got my X100 VI and I"m interested to see whether it's going to be my go-to camera and replace my X Pro 3 in that respect. Still debating whether to sell my XT 4 as it sits in the bag a lot of the time now. Keep producing the great videos, Kevin. Cheers.

    Hey Kevin~ I agree with you. I started with the X-Pro1 in 2012 and have always preferred it. I use the XT5, XE4 and X100V for weddings, but I’d get two X-Pro4 bodies if it ever comes out. (I’ll also be first in line for a digital XPAN). There is also a market for a real rangefinder like an M11, but that’s a completely different story…

    X-Pro2 User here. I would love to see a matt black or dark grey X-Pro4. In my eyes they messed it up with the "3". The display idea was interesting, but not radical enough. I would love to see a Leica MD style X-Pro camera. I would ditch the flippable screen and just integrate a magentic display cover with for a static display. They should ignore those flippable screen screamers. 24MP are enough, but IBIS would be really nice.

    What I’d like an X-Pro4 to have;
    - Larger OVF/EVF with dual magnification brought back, same magnification factors as X-Pro2
    - Better serviceability, i.e. user replaceable rubber eyepiece, it’s Pro after all
    - Cleaner design with nods to X100 VI, remove branding on top plate
    - Clarity without blackouts
    - Better and more suitable management of custom film recipes, separate from C profiles
    - Digital Tele Converter with primes, incl correct frame lines in OVF
    - ISO dial with clutch (X100VI style)
    - HDMI output
    - Even though i prefer X-Pro3 display for hip shooting, because its so polarizing, simply make it available with two types of display;
    a) X-Pro3 style display, but better build quality, thinner, and with narrower bezels, sub display flush with panel.
    b) X100VI or X-T5 traditional style

    I'd like some brass on the top & bottom plates. Purely an aesthetic issue - as the camera ages and is used, that 'brassing' that we used to see on cameras after a few years of use and abuse was just so much nice than the silver colour that we get now (assuming your digital camera gets used for long enough before the next model takes its place).

    I am with you here Kevin. I pre-ordered an X-Pro2 the moment I saw Lok Cheung showing one on RUclips. I could not wait to get it and I loved it. I still have it and although I now have a lot of Fuji cameras, X-T and X-H models, my X-Pro2 is my go-to for London street photography. I have been desperately waiting for news of the X-Pro4 and if, and when it is announced, my order will go in on the same day. Great video, Kevin.

    I have a beat up X-Pro2 that was used for many years by a wedding photographer (and it has the scars to show it). No idea how many frames it's taken but it is still going strong and it's my favorite camera to use. Its one of those cameras that as soon as you pick it up you want to put it to your eye and make photos, it's a joy to use. I don't get this same feeling with XT cameras, though interestingly I do get it with my x70. My ideal X-Pro4 would be simliar to yours, an X-Pro2 body with processor spec bump, and Lumix real time LUT type of system for stills.

    I’ve been using the x-pro2 since many years for all kind of photography (mostly travel documentary, street and many weddings) and it is now the only digital camera I own. It‘s not just about the image quality and the versability. It‘a about how it feels in my hands, about the feeling I get each time I put it near my eye. I‘ve passed it now to my son (17) and he loves using it. And pls, Fujifilm, give us the X-pro4! This is as close as one can get to an Leica feeling without spending ridiculous $ 5‘000+ for a camera body.

    I want to see an X-Pro 4 with all the specs of my X-T5 especially the IBIS, sensor, EVF and battery but with a solid X-pro build and ergonomics and an even more photography focused interface. Release it with an 18mm f/2 mark 2 LM WR and you’re going to have a winner in my opinion.

    My first X was an X-E2 in 2014. Bought the X-E3 in 2017 after a watery accident with the former. Wanted to buy the X-Pro2 at the time, but stupidly thought the price difference was too much. And the X-E3 was literally brand new. Promised myself I would buy an X-Pro4 when that would come. I use my cameras for a long time, so gathered that the X-Pro3 would come too soon. But here we are, I’ve been ready for an X-Pro4 for a couple of years but where is it?

    Great video and comments. I am afraid Fujifilm will put that 40MP sensor in the next X-Pro if for no other reason for economy of manufacturing and that will be sad. I rented the X-Pro3 and found the flip down screen to be frustrating. For me, just going back to the flat LCD rear screen of the X-Pro2 would be an improvement. I agree the X-Pro4 is long overdue and it would be a terrible shame to do away with the X-Pro line.

    • @JustinWatson23
      @JustinWatson23 8 месяцев назад +1

      They almost certainly will IMO, use the 40 MP sensor. I'd say there is no chance of any other sensor but the 40 MP sensor. I do love my X-T5 and X-H2S, but am always tempted by the X-pro line.

    I have the X-Pro1 and can only speak from that point of view. I think that just making the camera as fast to use as one of the classic rangefinders is the holy grail. Fast, fast, fast and made to work in a zone focus style that Leica M6 flourishes in would make me buy.

  • @paultaylorphotography9499
    @paultaylorphotography9499 9 месяцев назад

    I used the original X100 through the T and into the F, loved them all. I gave the F to my old dad who wanted a smaller kit. I planned to replace it with the V, no chance couldn't get one anywhere I then dropped on a well priced X-Pro2, loved it to bits, then so went crazy and bought the Q2, no regrets at all, but the XP2 was mothballed. Then I decided to modify the X-Pro2 to shoot black and white IR, the X-Pro2 is now a constant in my bag. Not sure the X-Pro4 would temp me but as I have more money than sense, fast running outta money tho', never say never.

    Let's hope for that X-PRo4 Kevin! And I agree, keep the hybrid viewfinder, upgrade the autofocus, and keep the style and layout untouched. It doesn't even need IBIS! I still shoot all my work with two X-Pro3s (X100VI on it's way) and love the cameras. After almost 4 years with them I understand the camera so well now, love how I can shoot high ISO and it looks gorgeous. Also considering an X-T5 for the interim, but really really hoping for that X-Pro4.

    Same here. Still using two X-Pro2s for wedding photography. Tried the X-Ts but did not like them from a shooting experience. I am bound to the rangefinder style (they could imho drop the hybrid viewfinder). With the X-Pro 3 I really liked the feeling but the back screen was unusable for me in the professional context. Also the lagging/quirky shutter button was sadly annoying. So I am here still waiting for the X-Pro 4 ❤

    I would want so very little in an Xpro4.
    OVF that can project frame lines for the 18mm again (also we need an updated 18mm cron).
    AF acquisition from the OVF like the X100VI.
    A tilting back screen I can shoot off of like the EX4 screen.
    The titanium models had a lovely finish but the fit never impressed me. Gaps along the OVF, etc. Keep the formfactor character, just find a way of tightening up things. Less seems and screws, etc.

  • @stephenelliott7071
    @stephenelliott7071 9 месяцев назад

    I completely agree. The X-Pro line are so much more distreet, rather than having a faux mirror 'hump' that is central. The rangefinder style X-Pro system means you can more easily see the subject and framing through the viewfinder too because the viewfinder is at the edge of the camera (rather than a camera in your face, and that's all the subject sees too). Cost will be a major factor with that expensive hybrid optical/digital system. Controversially I'd like to see a digital only VF. Is the X-Pro system really able to deliver a good optical experience? Not really IMO. For wider or longer lenses than the 23mm lens the VF is very compromised.

    I wondered a lot about what could make an xpro4 a better experience then the previous models ? 2 crazy suggestions :
    1st) Imagine a built diffusion filter, using a similar mechanism to the built in NDs in the X100 series
    2nd)Imagine if they made manual focus lenses that are relatively the size as the F/2 series of primes , and in theory sens they don’t have a motor they might even be able to make them faster !!!

    You named it Kevin. After some excursions out to the xpro3 and XT4 and 5. I have to say that the Xtrans3 is one of the best sensors Fuji made until yet. I downgraded my setup back to the Xpro2 and the x100f. So same sensors for all of my work. And I never regret it. The autofocus is still okay for my work. I just need to clean up my xpro2 sensors 😅

    I would very much look forward for a new XPro. I have been shooting weddings accross Europe for a decade with XPro1 cameras. I have owned 8 of them, and I'm using the last two brand new camera bodies I own. Since they stopped repairing those old beautiful and stunning cameras* I desperately need an update.
    I believe what I would need in an XPro4 is the feeling I never got when testing the Pro2 and Pro3. There's something very special having a Pro1 in hand that the two latest editions didn't get to me. It's beyond the image quality and differences that I've also tested and not been a big fan of, it's the connection with the camera. A tool dedicated to photography, raw, efficient, and so simplistic it makes it the best camera ever to me.
    * After contacting Fuji Fr & global, if anyone know anyone servicing XPro1 ... I'd be the happiest person.

    I sold off my Fuji bodies and 14 Fuji lenses when Fuji abandoned the X-Pro ( I also had the H1) and switched to Leica, first the Q2, and then M11 and 4 lenses and recently added the Q3. Fuji lost me due to how they treated the X-Pro (I had the 1 and the 2 but did not want the weird pro3 screen) and I will never look back at this point. My brother did the same thing he had the X-Pro3, X-Pro2 and 8 lenses; he is also gone full Leica.

    I like the Range finder style, I would not mind ditching the optical viewfinder and offering the best EVF available. Definitely range finder style is my preference.

    In total agreement with your statement!
    The only thing I’d love is IBIS but then it’s not a deal breaker. It’s the reason I switched from Canon and fell in love with Fujifilm’s tools.
    Now an update to the GFX 50R would be even more wonderful… why the 100s needs to be updated, I do not know.

    I enjoyed this video very much. I have the X-Pro 1 still t this day. The technical advances Fuji has made since it's release are worthy of a XP4 however, the original sensor is to this day my favorite. Even in this video they are preferred to my eye at least. I am wondering what your recopy was for the B&W images in the beginning of this video, would you share?

    They ought to drop the hybrid viewfinder and basically do an X100 with the 40 meg sensor and an x mount. Nothing very difficult about that!

  • @xjuanx92

    I too am curious what the Pro 4 will bring in the future. As a Leica film shooter and dominant OVF, manual focus and right eye shooter, and part time auto focus shooter. This has been the digital camera for me since the XPro 1. That being said, I can't say I agree with alot of the features you would like to see. I feel like the current line of Fuji cameras has your needs, and the needs of the majority of today's photographer. Why have an OVF camera with DSLR and video camera features in a mirrorless body? I can't say there's a go to market strategy for that, however I would like to see the opposite. Remove the rear LCD all together, Ild like to see the optical magnifier from the XPro2 back in, while also keeping the corner focus pop up somehow. IS can be interesting, but not a deal breaker, new battery and card system would be nice as well. In other words, bring something to the table that doesn't exist with the rest of the Fuji line up. I would argue, to bring back the XE series at a lower cost for those that don't care for the OVF, it pains me to see XPro users that 99% of the time use the EVF and the rear screen like an iPhone (and yes there's alot of them out there. I see you). I don't have Fuji's analytics to understand the market that each model covers, but having a model that's outside the current line up would expand their customer base. Otherwise it seems like another XT series with an EVF on the left side of the body. How many users are out there for that type features, requiring that level of R&D, marketing and manufacturing costs and would yield profit for the company? At the end of the day, Fuji is needs to make money.

    Totally share your passion for the Xpro series. It's just a piece of art using the camera all around. Don't care about the specs, it's all about the emotional factor with pictures for me. All cameras today are more than good enough to take great photos, but to have a camera that looks and feels great to use is basically everything and all that matters!

    I still have an X-Pro1 and X-Pro2. I passed on the X-Pro3 as it did not appeal to me. I had an X-T1 at one time, but my daughter has it now... it never appealed to me. I know it would never happen, but I would like the original 16mp X-Pro1 XTRANS sensor in an X-Pro2 body with a faster processor (faster AF/image processing/bigger buffer). Also a USB-C port to modern it up.

    A case well made for continuing the X-Pro line of cameras. Some of the groundwork for a putative X-Pro 4 must surely already have been done with the X100VI.

    X-Pro2 user here and what I'd like to see in the X-Pro4. A compact high power rechargeable handgrip, 26 or 40MP sensor doesn't matter, a real flip screen, better optical and digital viewfinder, IBIS, faster and accurate autofocus, no sticky fingerprint finish and the same ergo as XP2. Most importantly, discard or limit the video function.

    Thank you for this video. I’ve always gravitated towards interchangeable lens cameras which has driven my love over the X-Pro and X-E bodies and not the X100. Owned the version 1 and 2 but did switch to the X-E family because I tended to rely more on the EVF. That said I’d love to see what Fuji could do with an X-Pro4. Until then I’ve added Sony’s compact C bodies the A7CII and A7CR at Full Frame and 33 and 61 Mpixels. Can Fuji make an X-Pro4 to compete with these. I hope so. Take care.

    I want that new bigger battery. Between that and the things you mentioned above, I would pay right now. I actually would love to see them keep the different finishes and colors. I thought that was so cool. The dura silver is so beautiful, but I love all of them. Maybe bring back the different magnifications that the x-pro2 had as well. Fingers crossed!

    I think at the end of the video, you hit on the crux of the issue. I have an X-Pro 3 (and a broken X-Pro2 that I accidentally destroyed) that I love and use frequently. How can it be improved upon? For what I use it for, it's damn near perfect. I don't need more resolution, the autofocus is good enough for street and city photography, IBIS might be useful in certain circumstances but mostly it's fine just as it is. I believe Fujifilm has said that they will update the X-Pro 3 when they have something meaningful to offer, but they may well be struggling to figure out what that would be.

    Enjoyed watching your video. iam mainly xt shooter with some x100v/f use. I have owned most xt variants except xt3 currently use xt5. I am not exclusively fujifilm coming into digital from minolta background. I've owned and still use olympus. it's about which each camera brings that joy that look the em1 mkii and xt2 have a special place.

    Your point about how they can improve the X-Pro line resonates with me especially in conjunction with the escalating cost of Fuji new releases, ( not unique to Fuji I know but relevant to me ). I'm a stills only hobbyist and my perfect condition used X-Pro2 Graphite edition cost me just over GBP 500 before used prices on all models went crazy. I cannot see a world in which a likely GBP 2,000 XPro4 is going to offer such an improved overall feature set useful to me that justifies 4 times the expenditure to upgrade. The same scenario applies with my X-E3, X100F & X-H1 and the models that have superceded them. I follow Fuji's camera developments with interest but I think for me gear wise there is more probably more value to my photography in filling out my lens line up with some great value propositions like the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 and 75mm f1.2.

      @kevin_mullins  8 месяцев назад +1

      I hear you. And I always say "if the gear you have now is good enough, then don't change". And you are right, prices have gone up across the board for everything in the industry annoyingly.

      The XP3 is fine. I used it for many many weddings. However, it's simply not as good as the newer cameras and I can get better and faster work done with them. I just don't enjoy using the DSLR style cameras as much - hence the wait for an XP4 goes on.
