Nikon Z5 sending it back with REGRETS :-(
I'm sending my Nikon Z5 camera back after a week of use. I'm regretting doing so, but I will see in the feature if I'll decide for Nikon ZF or buy it back at a price were I can justify what I don't like about Nikon Z5 camera.

You are completely right with IBIS. I also own Leica M240/M10. If Leica implements IBIS for the M12, I will buy. IBIS is the only requirement I have for a possible M12.
Cheers Tudor, it’s Sean in Atlanta! My friend, you and I think very much alike on a lot of matters! I just sold my Z5 to KEH, here in Atlanta, because I decided that my Olympus EM5 MIII had superior image quality, was easier to carry, and a camera system that I have loved since the first day I took up photography a few years ago. Isn’t that strange? The auto focus in lowlight was a major contributor, as was the size, and especially with the 24-200 lens on it. I enjoyed this video and it did make me laugh! We really do think alike! Sean
That's too bad about the z5 Tudor. I was thinking that the last update fixed this problem. I did hear that there are a few settings that make a big difference: 1. Custom setting a11 - low light AF set to on. 2. Setting G4 - AF speed set to +5 and G5 - set to 1. Others have also said try not using AF-C but AF-S instead. I imagine you have tried these things though. Did you try Auto area AF and matrix metering? Also, the lenses make a HUGE difference. Adaptive lenses with third party glass can be problematic. I use the 50 f/1.8s and 28mm f/2 with no issues. For birding, I did have to change some autofocus settings a good bit because I am using Tamron 150-500mm and the Zf is not truly designed as a wildlife camera, but it's working, no problem. Lastly, look for Ralph Mayhew + Nikon Z5: "It's even better now". Starting on 4:45 offers another perspective when he reviews the firmware updates. Around 10:20 he does a low light test. I wish you could have picked up the Zf. I'm over the moon about this camera and more so, the AF-C with manual lenses! I'm using older SLR lenses and the results are beautiful! I have only been using it with personal work but will start trying it on the streets. Anyway, thank you for sharing another video.
I wonder if Nikon can fix the AF with a firmware update. That Z5 has such a good form factor for full frame camera.
Thanks Tudor. You need to add a Sony A7cii. The Sony A7c having terrific autofocus but believe or not this even steps it up. Owning the A7c and A 7c II I am all set. Withe the Tony 40mm f2.5g it doesn’t get better leaving my Fuji x100v image wise and autofocus wise in the dust
Instead I've bought this and I'm very happy with it ruclips.net/video/L1_9P5rPkEM/видео.htmlsi=ztib_TAX1CO4o4Gt
Similar findings here and I really wanted to like the Z5. I bought it with a 50mm 1.8 S, sold it after a few months because of the autofocus performance. I was already turning a blind eye on the Fuji autofocus 😀
Yes :))
I downgraded my XT5 for the XT50 because of weight, size and better feeling. I will use it professional for my travel photography together with te X100F. For many years I used the XT20 with the X100F.
What if you replaced the XC lens with the best Fujifilm lens, the 16mm F1.4?
There's really no need for a zoom with the crop ability of a 40 megapickle camera.
The exposure on you is at least a half stop too bright.
Hello Tudor! I would like to ask you, which firmware you have on your XT50? You have said, that you don’t want to update the firmware because it might have an autofocus that’s not as good as it is now. I have ordered an XT50 today and I will probably get it tomorrow. Your video encouraged me to test the XT50 and check if it is better than my X100VI.
I've been disappointed with the X-T50. I reselled it after 2 weeks of use. Not what I expected. May be I should have kept it if it were, let's say, $300 less. I prefer my X-T30 II with a new lens added to my gear.
And for the ones who are in a budget, Xt1 is a great alternative. It still takes great photos even if it is 10 years old. The weight is the same, it is weather sealed (if you have appropriate glass) and just slightly bigger body. And if you want more modern gear, an advice... buy all your gear used! Your wallet will be happy! :-)
Although you should keep in mind that AF is archaic in comparison.
Most of the photographers tell that X T 5 fujifilms new firmware is not good for fixing AF problems. Did you see the same AF problem on this camera ? Thank you !
Personally I feel the AF is better, also the custom zone AF is changing the equation a lot in the favour of X-T50. For the moment I'm very satisfied with it.
In Australia for only a fraction more you can buy the X-T5. The X-T50 doesn’t make sense for the price.
Size and weight is the difference for me. The X-T5 feels chunky in comparison.
@@JackBurton-qp4hc in 2019 I had a SD card failure while in Florence on my X-T2 but being duel card slots I at least had my backup. So dual card slots is near the top of must haves for me.

I have a small rig button that is very good but also hyperyons buttons are good too lyp.ro/hyperion
No weather sealing is unforgivable.
And single card slot!
@@palamj2 less bothered about that but it might matter to some, in the UK it rains most of time and is just lazy from Fuji.
Weather sealing is one of the differentiators between models. It is not lazy, it is intentional.
@@JackBurton-qp4hc on a £1300 body only camera without weather sealing, no thanks, poor value.
@@willgreig8912 If weather sealing it of primary concern then get the XT-5. That is the point.
What lense would you recommend for the lumix gx9?
Lumix 15mm f1.7 and Olympus small primes like 45mm f1.7.
@@Tudor_Mateescu awesome I’ll take a look! First time camera buyer here so pretty new to it haha. I saw someone recommended the lumix g 20mm f/1.7 - any thoughts on that?
@@DayDreamer4011 it's a very good lens but it focuses a little bit slower. I still recommend it if you are ok with the AF.
@@Tudor_Mateescu awesome thanks a ton!
@@Tudor_Mateescu Getting the Lumix GX9 for £460 second hand just need the lens and I am set! 🚀
As a XH2s user for windsurf, I am often at the sea and I receive sometimes waves and rain on the camera and I had never a problem with the WR of Fujifilm, you can thrust in the power of the fuji WR 😜👍
WOW, very cool. That is assuring. Thanks for sharing! :D
I'm new to the fujifilm world and I'm fascinated by this debate. First of all, my thinking isn't "The T5 is just $300 more get that". But for me it's more like "the T50 is almost the same camera for $300 less so just get that". The size difference is HUGE for me and I can't believe I have such a powerful camera in such a small form-factor. For the price difference you can get an extra lens that can greatly expand your photography. Secondly, the comparisons with the X-T5 are misguided. The X-T50 is meant to be an alternative to the super-hyped x100VI. Fujifilm even says so on their official video. It's cheaper than the X100VI, it's even Smaller than the X100VI, AND you can grow more with this camera than the X100VI since you can upgrade lenses. It's beautiful, and the film dial is SO FUN for someone like me that is interested in fujifilm for its legendary simulations. And I must repeat again: The SIZE is really awesome! I can use this as a street camera in NYC where I live, I can bring it to a restaurant or a club and take flash photos of friends without looking like a paparazzi. And then I can take it on travel adventures and take stunning landscape shots in Norway and France and Italy. I am about to go on a safari trip in Africa in Novemeber and, while I will have my Canon R5 for serious shots, I am excited to test the T50's performance in such an environment. I am particularly interested in using the digital teleconverter on the 40mp sensor to get some extra range with smaller lenses.
I value your opinions so am glad to hear you have come to these conclusions regarding the x-t50, because I like the small size of my x-t30 and want to feel that the smaller cameras aren’t cut-rate knock-offs of the x-t5 etc. but instead are thoughtfully designed to serve their audience. And btw your photos are gorgeous !
Thank you
If you have only one camera don't buy this. X-E5 coming soon
I'm thinking to exchange my XT5 for this one or wait for the rumoured XM5 to get even smaller. I don't use all the features of the XT5 for my shooting style. The only thing I don't like on XT50 is the price and maybe the old battery but it's not deal breaker. For the film dial, people complain but neither te XE and X100 lines have an left dial and people use the drive button without problems. Same thing if you don't like 40megapixels, use the medium jpeg file size or Heif. On the FILM dial place to C, I heard that you can assign the back dial to select your customs recipes...
Buying into GAS?
@@DA-yd2nydon’t you realize, the more cameras you have the better your photographs.
@@DA-yd2ny Always! Even at the grocery, I have Food Acquisition Syndrome 🤣. With cameras, if one comes in, one go out, I only keep 2 at the same time. I got a really good deal on marketplace for my XT5, I really like it, but I realize that I want to downsize my equipment for my style of shooting. ✌
I didn't know about the Eye tracking update how does that work
It's working like on Nikon Z6II. You set a custom vertical zone, a line of 5 squares - and it will look for the eye just where you point the zone not on the entire image. So it's working faster and precise - it's not hunting or searching all over the place. This setting is working just with custom zones - and you have 3 of them. I will show in another video a broll with it.
Ty Tudor your channel is one of the greats... this detail you mentioned no one ever talked about. Im telling you are the goat... NOOOW
How do you like the Pergear lens on the xt50? I was thinking of grabbing that one for the price.
It's a fun lens... for sure can't be the only one but for the IQ, aperture and size it's great. Here is my video review here ruclips.net/video/gBMY1GtDYEY/видео.html and here the blog review with images: tudormateescu.com/pergear-25mm-f1-7-review-on-fujifilm-x-t5-and-x-t30-ii/
@Tudor_Mateescu thank you! At the moment my lenses are the new 16 to 50 kit lens and the x mount 30mm 2.8 micro. I love that lens. But was looking at something that had this slimmer profile. Thanks again for the response and the great content
just sold my xe3 and waiting for xe5..afraid you are gonna me buy this xt 50😯
I started to be a big fan of the x-t50 line up :))
The noise within its ISO ranges is very very high. Otherwise I would have considered it seriously. I am looking for a camera where the noise performance is good and a smaller interchangeable lens camera. I either use flash for photography indoors or no flash and higher iso outside street photography. Really atrocious noise performance. I have not used the camera but I know its the same sensor as the XH2 and XT5, I have checked their noise performance on photons to photons website. It would ruin the photos at higher ISO. I would have been happier if they had left the camera at 24 megapixels and instead worked on noise suppression. And I don't mean software within suppressing noise but instead the camera natively producing lower noise level raw files. I honestly don't care about the film simulations, I don't use them, I understand most Fujifilm users think of them as a great thing, that is good. Personally I just want a camera producing high raw quality files. I know I am in a minority, but just my personal thoughts.
I have a Ricoh GR III which has a 24 mp sensor, and the X-T5 sensor does a better job, even though the GR III is pretty amazing.
@@kalistratov_photos Very interesting, i might try to check the files online somewhere. Just from the data on the Photons to photons website, it is showing very very high noise, especially for a modern sensor. But maybe the real world results are not so bad. I will need to check. Thank you for letting me here.
@@dalvinderbasi3495 you might overestimate the importance of noise for the real world use. I would care about the iso only for portrait work. And the x-t5 has the lowest iso for that - 125. When I shoot street, I go with f11-16 and ss 1/500-1/1000. You can imagine the iso numbers with that, but the images work just fine! When I shoot wildlife with the 150-600 lens, and I have to stop down to f11-16 to keep more than 1 bird in focus, the iso numbers get really high, and denoising it with DXO PureRaw completely fixes it. In fact, the DXO is just an advanced sensor reader rather than an Ai tool, and it works like magic.
@@kalistratov_photos Yes Pure Raw from Exo is fantastic. It is just another expense, also extra work. But it is interesting how you mentioned the noise is better than the Ricoh GR iii
@@dalvinderbasi3495 I didn't say that. I didn't make any precise comparison of the noise level. I just like files from the x-t5 more, they have more detail and they're more "3D". I think it's the resolution which has its role. I agree with the reviewers who say that 40mp isn't so important, but it's definitely a very very nice thing to have.
Ayyy Tudor, you're an excellent salesman! Like you, I love small cameras. I have small hands and for street photography I need the camera to "go away"... dissolve with my eye. The Ricoh GR gave me sweet images at the beginning but the camera's issues with dust and the retractable lens over time was too much for me. I wasn't into snap focus either. Great little camera for a small niche, but no longer for me. Enter the x-t30ii and I have created nice images over the years but I'm outgrowing it. It's such a good little camera though that I've been holding off on the x-t50. I don't use film recipes - I cannot get away from shooting raw... and I don't want 40 megapixels all the time. However, you gave some really good points here and maybe this is going to be the replacement for my Fuji x-t30ii. I'll let you know in a future comment.
Thank you 😁🙏 X-T50 is really a great camera, it's easy to be praised...
the film dial in combination with custom setting are interesting. The custom settings can be made to work with many of the recepies this is an interesting touch to it. some examples c1 flat portra like c2 day light C3 3200 kelvin C4 high contrast c5 low contrast c6 much grain c7 4x5 aspect ratio
WOW, thank you very much for these ideas!
@@Tudor_Mateescu personally i have started to set up my camera more like this recently I have come to the realization that there is no reason for me to have any recipe since im a raw shooter and some recipes adds an small extra step in my editing removing the effect that the recipe have on the rawfile meta data ofen leading to WB and tint values beeing off. Therefore my custum settings are tailord to look less stylized but still look great when i have tp pull an jpge to my phone.
I have had my X-T50 for just over a month and love it. I had the X-S20 but felt frustrated with the flip screen and AF. I am glad I made the switch. This camera has better AF and I love the tilt screen compared to the flip. Also I love the digital zoom. Use it way more than I expected. A firmware update was just released, but now I am afraid to upgrade it. Has anyone tried the new firmware?
how is the AF performance when you compare with X T 50
X-t50 is better
Amazing video! Quick question, as someone about to jump into Fujifilm and forgetting the price, which would you recommend ? X-t50 or X-t5?
Definitely Fujifilm X-T50 I would chose just for the improvet AF - see my latest video.
WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is THE WORST vid of this kind, I have ever seen !!!!!!!! You talk Shit about the ZF and how bad the Camera n Lenses are,,,, AND YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE (ZF camera),, OR EXAMPLES (made by the ZF) !!!!!!!!! You Talk Shit about a camera and show Crappy examples from fuji n sony !!!!!!! WTF (Your photographs are Quite PEDESTRIAN At Best, I looked at Your IG) (RUclips has set the bar too LOW) :( :( :(
as a former Fuji users for 15 years, I say Fuji is done! from the day Fuji deliberately create fake "production shortage" to create its camera's hype. also, the quality of built is dropping constantly. I was looking to buy a X-T5 and surprised at its cheap feeling. All and all, I bought a Q3 and never regret a bit since. A brand that use its consumer's royalty to make money is the worst kind of all sellers! SAYONARA Fuji!!!
Now, Fujifilm India has revealed the price of x100vi in India and it's too high. On paper it say's 1600 US dollars - And that does not translate to ~1.35 Lakhs but 1.8 Lakhs (i.e; ~45K more) . With this pricing, seriously, it does not make any sense at all. X100v initially was just 1.2 Lakhs . X100vi's 33% hike in pricing is just odd. I'm very much decided now, not to go for it. I rather will increase budget a little and get some compact full frame - That's a wise decision.
Thank you, very interesting, very beautiful pictures and bokeh.
Which would you recommend, for amateur general photography, between the xt50 and the xs20?
X-s20 is for video and vlogging. If you don't need to be in front of the camera I would go with x-t50.
@@Tudor_Mateescu Very interesting. I just wasn't sure I needed 40 mpg and feared it would take up a lot more file space.
What is the difference between a film recipe and a film simulation?
Film simulation are standard profiles from Fujifilm. Film recipes are custom made image quality settings made by community as me, others and the well known fujixweekly.com
if Fuji had an updated XF23mm F2, I would get the XT50. But for 35mm equivalent shooters, the XF23mm f1.4R is s;ighty too big for the XT50, and the new primes are too big. The small xf23mm f2 isn't as good as the 23mmf2 optics in the X100V and VI
Yes, but I would risk it with the 23mm f1.4 wr. The 18mm f1.4 is staying so nice on x-t50... I'll do a video about it...
I wish this had weather sealing. It would buy it in a heart beat
XT50 and a fast prime
Yesss
after months of research, I have purchased a used, "good condition" G9 body instead of any mirrorless Canon, Nikon, Fuji etc. For $590 plus tax, it will be the only camera that I have to take to Europe for a month in Budapest. I expect that I will buy an extra battery pack and a used 8 to 25 zoom lens for architecture in Budapest.
Yup, but the x-t20 was better dan the x-100f and so on
Can you share what kind of of a shutter button you are using please?
This one is from small rig cage, but I use the ones from here very good too lyp.ro/hyperion

That 15-45 is a great lens !
Yes!
question: that kitlens 15-45> is that eating a lot of batteries because of the motorzoom??
No, it seems ok.
For comfort and quality the Leica camera is by far the best
A7r3 is less expensive and can be set to any of these suggestions
