You have to master the craft of “seamless integration”. It is a fine art I have practiced for years of slowly introducing my hidden equipment piece meal over long periods of time, effectively gaslighting my wife that I always had them and she is only just noticing them. I disagree personally. I have found when I had just one or two bodies with a small selection of lenses, I was more focused in being creative with my tools, I was not worrying about what I should carry. Mastering that one camera I could do anything. It was when I started collecting many more camera gear is when my mojo started going away. Yes I got great results but my passion of going out to create was fading because I was obsessed with getting new gear. Now that I have so much and not shooting as much, I am looking to sell off many and only keep what I know I need and want because I found that I am not using all that gear that I "thought" I needed. G.A.S. suckered me in pretty good and I just want to stick with one or two bodies and just upgrade my lenses and go back to the time where everything I need is in one camera bag.
I'm the opposite. One camera-one-lens-one-one-year gave me better images, made me a better photographer and brought my love for photography. More than 20 years of photography, alot of gear etc has given me. I walked more, traveled more, photographed more, met more people, saw more new things. I put my money on travels instead of gear since I rather see the world than stay at home. A new country, city give me alot more inspiration than new gear. I never look back at the gear I used to have but I do look back at all the fantastic adventures and images I got from travelling from the money I saved from not buying new cameras.
I also have had many Cameras and Lenses, I still have a lot of Cameras and Lenses, I sold some this year. But now I only use two 60 megapixels full frame Cameras and 13 prime Lenses. Using 60 megapixels Cameras is like have two or more Cameras in one Camera, I sometimes use the Cameras in APSC mode and still have 26 megapixel which I can crop from, so I end up with what is equal to MTF or smaller, it is very versatile to use 60 megapixels Cameras !
I often buy gear from second hand sites...use it for 6 months...then re sell it ...often losing NO money Life is short Also, if the camera gets used for 1000 hours then it's a cheap hobby per hour I agree We need to stop ✋️ saying don't buy this
@svenstreet I very rarely buy new camera gear the immediate impacted by New gear is that it is literally halves in value the moment you buy so I look around for good secondhand gear. That way when you do sell it you're not losing too much money.
After watching so many different RUclips channels reviews about cameras and lenses I have accumulated so many cameras and lenses that I can buy a new Mercedes 😂 but I only ever use one camera about twice a year even when I shoot every week 😮
Clarification: mm is millimeters NOT "Meters." Mispronunciation brings confusion to many; especially, to newbies. Technical aspects and vocabulary must be used clearly and concisely. If the basics of photography - namely, technicalities, composition, and the creative process along with the principles of art are considered properly and accordingly, shooters will not have or encounter issues with the joy of photography and the usage of camera gear, lenses, and accessories; They should expect and experience from decent to good results. Photography has a learning curve that cannot be overcome by buying new gear. There are advantages and disadvantages for everything. Another point is knowledge and experience, you accomplish that by doing research, reading, studying, trying techniques, exposing and understanding other arts, and sciences too. New gear is not magic. Technology and camera gear, contrary to facts, it is not a sparking plug for the creative process or a solution to resolve daily personal problems, individual moods, or mental health issues. Slow down buddy. Chill out. Relax!
