I have the same bike. Had a problem with loud noise coming from the rear hub/wheel right out of the box. Contacted Hyper and their customer service handled it in very good fashion sending me a new wheel. Products are often only as good as their customer service and they hit a home run with me. I'm satisfied with the bike's build quality, paint and rugged, stirdy handling. I only wish it came with some frame mounting bosses for accessories and an optional suspension front fork.
Walmart’s now charging $698. and I also snagged this for $398. What a bargain! Someone on eBay selling plug and play throttle kit for Hyper Eride bikes for $300. The upgrade is almost as much as the bike. I would buy it for $150-200. Not worth $300. Nice review BTW.
I got my Hyper e-ride cruiser about 18mos ago for $599 thru Amazon and I'm still very happy with the performance albeit 250w is weak and I'm 225lbs 6'1" but I have gone up to 20mi without draining the battery - not too shabby. Upgrades are needed for cheap seat, vbrakes are marginal at best, road tires are thin prone to punctures, cheap peddles, grips, gooseneck, etc... Added a basket and lights and I'm saving gas and getting exercise without needing to walk bike up hills - I love it!
I got the bike down to 50lbs +/- by stripping off the fenders, chain guard, etc. I weigh 225lbs and often have groceries in the basket but it's no sweat for the cruiser model.

Can the fenders be taken off easy?
Yes, just a few screws, honestly they get dented easily and rub the tires, so I took them off.
I need longer range. Add a battery? Solar panel?
I bought three extra batteries and put them in a bag on my rack.
I get 20mi without draining the batteries & I'm 225lbs...
