*Everything you said about being a paperboy is wrong, and it’s the worst job ever. You do have a boss. You can’t work whenever you want, papers must be delivered by 6am. There’s no bikes all car. You must work every day, you can’t call out. You have to pick up papers by 3-4 am. You make anywhere from 130-250 a week depending on how many papers you have( literally like $7 an hour). You do get tips added onto that but only like 15% of people do that. And unless you are in a rich neighborhood your only getting $1-$4 a month per house that tips. If someone calls in and says their paper was late or not delivered you get docked $1-$2.50. And worst part is they take out no taxes because your an independent contractor. So come tax time you have to pay $1500-2000 per route. And some papers (like the one I worked at) you have to deliver to their doorstep. So every house you have to get out and run (walking will make you late) up to the house and back. So your spending 1-2 hours running every night, plus however long your driving. There is only one reason you should ever take this job. And that’s Christmas tips. You can get $800->$2000 in tips. Pick up a route in November (there are literally always routes open) around thanksgiving you put bulk Christmas postcards in with the paper with printed out little thank you messages and your name and address on it. Then checks just start pouring in. But don’t do it unless you get a rich town. Otherwise tips included your making 13 an hour.)*

4:51 This is why I don't buy those e-bike kits anymore lol. "It's always something." I bought 3 kits they all died within 1 week or 6 months. I bought a RadPower RadRover and it lasted 2 years before the LCD panel died, preventing the bike from turning on. Well THAT was fun! Cyrusher bikes usually turn out ok, but apparently support is not the best. The kit bike ran pretty well, but direct drive will be slower off the line than a 5x gear reduction motor if power levels are similar. A friend of mine has a 3T direct drive motor from an Onyx on his custom bike, and it will pull the front wheel off the ground at 30mph! Craig's battery is a Unit Pack Power, which is a good company. Three of my seven batteries are from them, and they all perform well. You can 3D print battery brackets that are surprisingly strong. Thanks for the video!

I can take dirt trails to and from work so I avoid traffic and when i do interact with it i can filter through the shoulder of the road. All in all if you have the ability to try it you should. Even if its just a few weeks of the year it's saved me 100s on gas while still getting me to work just as fast as a car when you count traffic For what he paid for the 1700 bike off Amazon he could have spent 300 more and got a radpower bike or an aventon or any good brand of bike. I like all E bikes just a point to hand out that a little more would've given you alot more
In my state, anything over 20mph and under 30mph throttled two wheeler fall under the "small motercycle catagory" not a bicycle catagory. So yeah technically illegal without a driver's license and plate. Under 20 -> bike. Over 30 -> motercycle. Ugg reading road rules.
I really like the idea of a fat tyre bike as ONE of my bikes, but not if it is my only option. Around my area they would be fantastic for the mixed conditions. I am so envious of the options you get in America. Here the power and type limitations make most of this impossible. We need more up to date regulations for E-bikes.
I live in **THE** place fat tire bikes were designed for. Quite literally. My closest trail system is quite literally where the fat tire bike was refined at. They're sandy river trails next door to the company (QBP/Quality Bike Products/Surly/Salsa) that popularized fat bikes, and since it's Minnesota, they also had ample access to snow. I don't own a fat bike. They're toys. I ride practical bikes. Fat bikes are the thing to buy as a 3rd or 4th bike. I'd absolutely love to screw around with one on the trails....if I owned a car to drive it to and from the trailhead. No way in hell I'm going to put up with riding one on the road.
@@DonOblivious I use a fat tire to commute 27 miles round trip to work. I'm 6'4" 230 lbs. I need a beefy bike and my Fucare Gemini fits the bill. I was going to go mid drive on the Trek but the hub motor needs less maintenance and I don't have to worry about chain issues. Each one has a place and price.
10:19 From my experience, the readout on the battery level is always inaccurate. My old battery for 2 years still reads 1 red bar but the LCD control panel on the bike shows it's fully charged, and I can get to work and back home no problem, so the LCD is not wrong either.
Just check the battery voltage if your display is able to show it to you. I know roughly exactly what percentage my battery is at all times and the bar on the screen doesn't make any sense it shows 1 bar at 48v when that's more like 40% on a 52v battery.
Just a little bit of "trivia" here: The latest Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 that was passed, which included tax rebates for electric vehicles, did not include the E-BIKE Act. 😞 Which would have given people a 30% tax rebate on an e-bike purchase. That means you would actually be given $600 for a $2000 e-bike purchase. It was a missed opportunity to significantly advance the "Green agenda" by tapping into the poor and lower class demographic in trading in their cars for an e-bike. Not to mention it would have strengthened our aluminum industry, which is now firing tons of people due to recession...
I gotta say guys. As someone who works in the Bicycle Industry now for 15 years, (also current rebuilding a 2002 R6) and as someone who has built and worked on many Cyrushers, I cringed at every time Sean said anything Positive about that bike. Ive had batteries spontaneously go up in flames in my shop. Ive seen those forks fall apart while working on the bike and the motor is notorious for cracking. Not to mention when Craig said the Bafang motor was the top of the line, I just about spit my drink out. 😂🤣. I ride an Ebike myself (Pivot Shuttle) and my motor alone runs $2000. My battery is about $1300. You should do a challenge of getting real ebikes form a bike shop. Get a cheap and expensive ebike from a bike shop. NOT AMAZON. 🤣😁. Love your videos gents and i swear im not a Karen cry at your video. Just a Cyclist crying at your video. 🤣♥
your pro perspective is appreciated, but people will struggle to even find a bike shop in all but places where cars are generally cost more/are prohibited... making the video about whats available on amazon does make sense when thats where a major chunk of online viewers would test the waters on.
what specs are the parts of your bike? im interested in hearing what is really considered a top-of-the-line motor, battery, and the rest. thanks for the info if you do get back to me!
@@Sinkktothebeat Well, My bike is running the Shimano ep8 motor and Shimano’s 725wh battery. There are only a few “high end” motors out there that you will find on high end ebikes. That being said, the Shimano is going to be the most common because is it notoriously reliable. Makes good power and it efficient. I get about 5.5 to 6 hours of hard riding on the mountain trails. Now my motor is what’s called a center driven motor which means it’s actually integrated with the crankset. The bike that Sean road in the video is a hub driven motor and as far as hub motors go, it is one of the better options out there but that’s not saying much. Hub motors have a problem with breaking their bearings, cracking the case, popping or breaking spokes and damaging the rim. It’s kind of funny on timing because one of these cyrushers came in to my shop yesterday with a spoke that was just dangling. Turns out he broke the flange on the hub motor. Now, all that being said, I cant say that these “high end” motors don’t have issues but it is rare and they are backed up with a really good warranty.
Saying that you don't need a license for an e-bike is not always correct. To not need a license for one you have to make sure it fits in the legal guidelines for a class 2 e-bike, then within local laws. Like where I am its 750w and 20mph max to be legal without one. Were also allowed a throttle here, but a lot of places won't allow this.
I'm pretty sure their more for looks than actually providing some sorta protection, I mean I've seen them do nothing for people way more than I've seen them actually save a life
This video showed up on recommended and I watched it, enjoyed it, freaked out when I saw you on granite run drive, then watched you ride past my house LOL!
Fun video! Sean, have you tried the battery check button when the battery switch is on? Mine will only read that way. Interesting to see you both take the opposite approach to riding electric bikes.
For a person who is seriously overweight an electric bike can be their best option to start exercising. Rider still gets about 60% of the exercise of a regular bike. You can buy a Radrover for the same $. They are located in Seattle, have thousands of bike sales and honor their warranty. Also, Craigs motor is only On/off. No gearing whatsoever. The other is a Geared Hub. Way more torque.
I would argue the opposite actually if they reprogrammed Craigs controller. I have the same brand and looks the same size motor. I pop wheelies electric only. I don't know how much torque you want more than that.
@@Blox117 The geared hub has more torque. I own bikes with each of these motors. I live in Colorado springs at 7000'. The geared hub blows away the old "magic pan" style motor on hills. Gears beat no gears every time. Of course the mid drive motor kills anything that is at the rear wheel. Why? Because you now have the gearing of the complete drive train. That is why every expensive (5-10K) electric mountain bike has a mid drive motor. Glad you like your bike but don't mislead people.
I have used dozens of the Voila Mart conversion kits and was surprised the see him lose at the drag race I got a top speed between 30 to 40 mph with most builds depending on the battery used, and I was wondering did you disconnect the 750w blue wire ? doing so makes the kit run at 1000w and much faster. I found for the money you can build a great Ebike for less than $800 using their kit and a bike you have already But the heart of the build is your battery if he had used a Hailong 48v 20ah 1600w Panasonic triangle battery, the other fellow would had been in the dress.
Craig, you should put some gears on the back wheel with the rear derailleur it will save your back wheel in the long run most of those rear end motorized come with a set of gears on them so you can still change like the bicycle and still have the back wheel
actually own the kit craig got lol (if its the 48v 1000w version) the power modes are only for the pedal assist and would get up to 35mph when pedaling hard, got it like two years ago for $300 controller+hub and $250 for the battery on amazon
That was a great video lots of fun and a good review. I bought my bike on Amazon in February 2022. I tell you is very disappointing at first I had to upgrade just about everything except for the motor controller and battery. The brakes would not stop you they were dangerously weak. I got no support at all from the manufacturer.I did this to save money but you know the saying you get what you pay for. It is now a good bike but it’s because I was willing to upgrade it customize it to my specifications. I’m also a mechanic so it was no problem installing gutter and proper equipment. If I had to do it all over again I would go to a bike shop, where I would get support if needed.
Overall performance was pretty similar between the two. Try the most expensive pre-built vs the most expensive DIY/individual components. A 72v DIY e-bike will smoke anything off the shelf.
@nathanmcleay1791 he's right. A Complete 48v 750w ebike vs a 48v 1000w hub motor kit? One of these things is not like the other. It's certainly not comparing the most powerful kit vs the least. As prices vary between sellers, buying the most expensive product is not going to guarantee better performance.
For their next challenge, Sean and Craig have a hunting challenge. Sean will be using the newest shotgun from Browning and to even things up, Craig gets 3 time tested weapons; a rock, a string, and a stick.
I've had to get more stitches from my paper route, than any other job I've had. Including 4 years of landscaping. I jumped every ditch and curb I saw, while carrying 30 pounds of newspapers.
What was unfair was one guy's bike came in box, while the other guy's was just parts he had to put on a bike. It would have been more fair for both to have either full bikes or just kits.
It wasn’t that it was the rotation of the wheel. It was just going to spin the wrong way if he had the polarity set normally. Reversing the polarity made it so the power was reversed and so the rotation was too. The gears were just going to be on the wrong side if he had the polarity normal
Craig bike would be faster you have to go into sw900 parameters and adjust top speed , you can change many things there the kph to mph, Look up sw900 settings on RUclips
It's actually the other way around. If you don't plug the charger into the wall and turn it on first you get a spark more often than not because of the huge voltage gap.
Hey, I bought an Amazon E bike two weeks ago, had EXACTLY the same issue with the battery charging indicator, doesn't work. They gave me a $70 credit to use on Amazon store purchases. The battery actually works, just that stupid indicator light is broken. must be the same company making these.

@@IQWhiteBearhonestly Chinese batteries get a bad rep, there are companies that actually make good ones the issue is people hoping to get realllly cheap ones and think it’s gonna be safe. I’d say never spend less than $200 for a 48v battery, and never spend less than $500 for 52v, $700 for 72v.
first I bought a Lectric XP 2 fr 999.99. ITs ok, but Im too big for it. Then I got NBpower 2000 watt hub motor (around 400) and 52 v 20 amp battery from Unit pac power (also around 400). Bought a used Jamis Durango 20 inch mtb for 100.00 off of fb marketplace and now cruise with no worries. Then I see they now have 5000 watt cyc mid drive for 1200 and am thinking of building that one on the Jamis.

Craig is amazing , and such a good sport !
4:51 This is why I don't buy those e-bike kits anymore lol. "It's always something." I bought 3 kits they all died within 1 week or 6 months.
I bought a RadPower RadRover and it lasted 2 years before the LCD panel died, preventing the bike from turning on. Which might have been an easy fix if I could have figured out how to isolate the problem. Instead it took a total of 2 MONTHS to fix the issue, because every new part takes about 2 weeks to ship. Really bad. It's over a week for them to even get to your order because they just sit in queue with nobody working on it, or they only process and ship in batches once a week rather than individual orders.
1 minute into the challenge Sean is talking to the camera about NINJAS & Craig is quietly inventorying his parts.
That's because Sean knows the age/maturity of his audience and panders like a pro. I mean, who doesn't want to be a ninja more than an inventory guy in a dress?!

I have the same Voilamart motor. Literally can not live without it. I have the 48V 1000W model that gets me a tops of 32MPH on flat road. I have never peddled it. It has never failed to get me where I need to go and back. I'd say it's the best thing I ever bought. I can weigh my bike down with easily an extra 50 or 60 pounds and it does not struggle hauling me, the cheap heavy battery I got for it and the extra weight. I spent about $450 on it, the battery and a cheap bike to put it on. The only advantage the other bike had was with the fat tires.
I added that same kit to my ebike to make it dual drive and it works fantastic.Mine will go 35 mph but I keep my tires infalted near the max so it makes a diffrence on speed.I have one year and over 1k on the setup and no problems yet.

@@chrisvilavelha I just did 111 miles--I pedal 90% of the time---and had half he battery left on the 14 ah and 75% left on the 20h--I have well over 100 mile range--but I have 2 batteries--48v 20 ah and a 48v 14 ah--and 2 motors.Even when it was stock i did 50 miles and still had half the battery left--but I pedal a lot of the time and use the motors for hills and trails.I also keep my tire pressure high which greatly increses the range.Takes about 4 hours to charge either battery.I have never even come close to draining any the batteries and usually get several days of riding before i have to charge any of them.BTW when i pedal I am doing it with the assist on 3 so not only do I get great range--but I am getting mild long and light comfortable cardio and get to enjoy biking now because I am not exhausted.
@@chrisvilavelha My battery was a cheap blue box Cao MM battery. 48V 1000W 10AH. I can get about 15 miles on one charge, in the best conditions, long flat road and coasting when I can, or going down a hill where I can. When fully depleted it takes about 5 hours to fully charge it.

As always, love your videos!! Especially the comparison ones!
You need to pump up the forks for them to work properly and the brakes need to be bed in
I love Craig's voice in the drive through!!
I'm a semi daily Ebike commuter and i got a radrover 5. It's a good daily rider and unless it's snowing i dont mind the weather either. I can take dirt trails to and from work so I avoid traffic and when i do interact with it i can filter through the shoulder of the road. All in all if you have the ability to try it you should. Even if its just a few weeks of the year it's saved me 100s on gas while still getting me to work just as fast as a car when you count traffic
For what he paid for the 1700 bike off Amazon he could have spent 300 more and got a radpower bike or an aventon or any good brand of bike. I like all E bikes just a point to hand out that a little more would've given you alot more
I know he paid 1700 for the most expensive bike, but I never herd what he paid for the cheaper bike?

The key to building a good ebike is crime. Even in the states anything over 750 watts is a motorcycle according to federal law.
I hope they do more e-bike videos!
The newspaper delivery part of the video was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh guys
Stoked on this video, a lot of us have crossed over to Mountain bikes from motorcycles for our "health" and the new e-bikes are amazing!
Awesome episode today.. Hope you'll make more adventure oriented episodes soon coz we all love adventure. Nice time ™️
You guys are nuts and a ton of fun to watch. Keep up the goofy work.
I assume that charger is a standard 2 Ampere charger so that battery need at least 6 hours to charge up from zero to 100!
I have put around 4000 miles on my volimart 1000w kit. Pretty reliable apart from the freewheel
My freewheel also went dodgy on the same kit around 2500 miles. I wasn't pedalling anyway so I just removed the chain and shifting system.
Working off the couch….that’s awesome 😆
BA>FANG.. ok why not¿¿¿¿¿
Yeah, because like I can afford to spend $3,300 on a bike.
You seem to come over as anti-Amazon, nothing more.
what specs are the parts of your bike? im interested in hearing what is really considered a top-of-the-line motor, battery, and the rest. thanks for the info if you do get back to me!
4:51 the way he said what up Craig was like. I was watching Friday after the next Craig and day-day . Good movie.

Bicycle helmets are rated at max 20mph, if I recall correctly.
I am sure they are ineffective at head and face trauma, at any speed, except walking while on carpet, in a house, while wearing elbow-pads.
I'm pretty sure their more for looks than actually providing some sorta protection, I mean I've seen them do nothing for people way more than I've seen them actually save a life
@notfiveo Yes i have the wicked E bike 60 V 20 ah for 1,999$. Goes 39 mph!!!

Interesting to see you both take the opposite approach to riding electric bikes.
I don’t think I have. Good tip
6:11 that far right screen gives me anxiety...
I don't know how much torque you want more than that.
actually the hub motor produces more torque because it has a lower KV ratio. geared motors are inferior and cheaper.
hub motor: more torque than any combustard failgen or geared drive
@@Blox117 The geared hub has more torque. I own bikes with each of these motors. I live in Colorado springs at 7000'. The geared hub blows away the old "magic pan" style motor on hills. Gears beat no gears every time. Of course the mid drive motor kills anything that is at the rear wheel. Why? Because you now have the gearing of the complete drive train. That is why every expensive (5-10K) electric mountain bike has a mid drive motor.
Glad you like your bike but don't mislead people.
@@finerbiner sorry bud, you were misled. perhaps you should do a little more reading before commenting
I found for the money you can build a great Ebike for less than $800 using their kit and a bike you have already But the heart of the build is your battery if he had used a Hailong 48v 20ah 1600w Panasonic triangle battery, the other fellow would had been in the dress.

actually own the kit craig got lol (if its the 48v 1000w version) the power modes are only for the pedal assist and would get up to 35mph when pedaling hard, got it like two years ago for $300 controller+hub and $250 for the battery on amazon
With the battery you have to have the key turned on the lock like you would on the bike to see the amount of charge.
Hmm, an episode full of chuckles, who knew!?! Lol! Thanx, I was truly entertained...!
If I had to do it all over again I would go to a bike shop, where I would get support if needed.
commentary from craig’s side would’ve been awesome. maybe for the next video?
Overall performance was pretty similar between the two. Try the most expensive pre-built vs the most expensive DIY/individual components. A 72v DIY e-bike will smoke anything off the shelf.
What kind of tip speed do they have? And do they have good torque for hills?

His Moo Moo looks like a Wal*Mart vest 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣
What Craig doesn’t realize is that the chain wasn’t reversed but the bike was just upside down😂
It wasn’t that it was the rotation of the wheel. It was just going to spin the wrong way if he had the polarity set normally. Reversing the polarity made it so the power was reversed and so the rotation was too. The gears were just going to be on the wrong side if he had the polarity normal
100% reminded of a show on the history channel lol. nicely done, hope i can be this creative someday

You should always plug the charger into the battery, before you plug the charger into the outlet. No chance of damage to the battery that way
It's actually the other way around. If you don't plug the charger into the wall and turn it on first you get a spark more often than not because of the huge voltage gap.
