  • Yesterday Once More was released in 1973. Wow, I can't believe it's been almost 50 years!
    It's "still shine" and "so fine" as the lyrics say✨
    The lyrics are really just about this song itself. How nostalgic, heart-warming this song is💕
    Actually, I got a request to play Carpenters' song by my friend who loves Carpenters! So excited to have a request🙌
    By the way, I had my YAMAHA YUS5 tuned for the first time after it came to my home. The piano technician told me that the sound was out of tune although I didn't realize that.😅 No wonder since YAMAHA YUS5 was shipped across the Pacific Ocean from Japan all the way to the U.S!
    Hope you enjoy the video♡

    This fantastic Arrangement was by Hiroko Kokubu, jazz pianist. I added some changes on it.

    It is a very nice arrangement. You play so good too. Sounds like Carpenter is simply and slowly singing word by word. The accompaniment is exactly the way it did. I love it.

      Thank you so much for noticing such details! I put effort to mimic Carpenters' and made some little changes based on the wonderful arrangement music sheet by Japanese jazz pianist, Hiroko Kokubu!

    beautiful sound you have! I really enjoy your recordings, you have a very nice microphone. by the way, are you happy with the yamaha yus5? would you buy it again? I'm curious how big is your room, do you find the volume being too loud / hurting your ears etc? looking forward to hearing more pieces from you :) congratz!

      Thank you! I’m so happy with YUS5 and would buy it again unless I live in a single home. The area with my YUS5 is probably about 300sf. The larger sound as compared to my previous piano surprised me at the beginning and made me feel as if I was playing in a small concert room. Concerning my neighbors, I let them know about my new bigger sound piano and placed some soundproofing mats on the carpet. I’d be careful to close the windows while playing. The big sound of YUS5 never annoys us because of its great sound-quality! Hope my perspectives above are helpful!

    Very beautiful.
    Allow me one question. Was it recorded with the same microphone and placed in the same place as in Intermezzo A Major Op118 No.2 by Brahms?

    • @healingpianosandiego
      @healingpianosandiego  2 года назад

      Thank you, Samuel! Yes, they were recorded with the same microphone. However, the big difference between my “Intermezzo” and “Yesterday Once More” is that the latter one was recorded right after tuning while “Intermezzo” was recorded before tuning. In addition, I took “Intermezzo” from a little higher position and just next to my shoulder. The weather also attributed to the difference of the sounds??

    • @Samuel-vx1jg
      @Samuel-vx1jg 2 года назад

      @@healingpianosandiego Well, only two weeks passed between one recording and another, as I see on RUclips; the weather would be more or less the same, I think. However the tuning greatly improved the sound; the difference in sound quality between the two pieces is so great that they seem to have been played on two different pianos.
      By the way, which piano do you like to play the most and why? On the acoustic YUS5, or on the digital Clavinova CL-130 that you play for example on the Ave Maria by J.S. Bach / Gounod?
      I think the second part of the question, determining why, is difficult to answer.

    • @healingpianosandiego
      @healingpianosandiego  2 года назад

      I see. Because this piano was brand-new and came from Japan on the surface and prone to be out of tune, I realized tuning often at the beginning was crucial. I had tuning every three months twice. Also, It's hard to choose one of the two pianos. Clavinova CL-130 has various kinds of instrumental sounds and let me have so much fun when playing pop songs while YUS5 enables me to practice for fingers and improve my performance for classical pieces. I think it depends on what you pursue after all. Thanks for your thoughtful questions!

      Thanks to you for your kind answers about pianos. Your YUS5 sounds great, and you play it great. It's nice to hear you.
      How did you come to decide on that model? Were you able to compare its sound with that of other Yamaha verticals, for example with the U3 or the SU7?
      It seems to me that Yamaha sells two more series here in Europe than in the U.S. the SE and the SU7.
      I don't know if you had a chance to compare the YUS5 with other Yamaha.
      Although what is essential for a person to enjoy a piano depends perhaps more on the person itself, on the capacity for surrender and openness to musical experience, than on the quality of the piano.

    • @healingpianosandiego
      @healingpianosandiego  2 года назад

      I had no opportunity to try U3 nor SU7. I was thinking only about YUS5 from the beginning because of my piano teacher’s recommendation. I tried just a few other YAMAHA upright pianos in the shop by chance and it led me to fall in love with YUS5. Good luck for your piano search!
