What if you were to tune each note in the piano in the order of a song? Like if you do a chromatic scale through every key each would play the note of a song in correct order
The tuning and mechanical stuff is awesome and the reason I keep coming back, but I have to admit that the most impressive thing is how you keep a straight face with the piano tutors. That and how you can still find tutors who aren’t familiar with your shenaniganery.
I got an idea (but it might not be easy to do): exchange the thick and thin strings and tune the piano so that the high notes are on the left and the low notes on the right. Ask someone to play it. When he says something about it, say it's a lefthanded piano.
Bless this first woman's heart. I just gotta say that's a very digital pianists thing to say "your piano is broken" as opposed to just "it's really REALLY out of tune". XD Piano tuning is a heck of a process though, I can't imagine how long it took you to do that.
@@aaronbrown8377 Is there away a piano can accidentally get tuned that way? I can't think of a mechanical failure that would result in all E's...a bit like saying you dropped a cup and it reassembled itself into a perfect unbroken sphere.

I love how he asks one of the most stupid beginner questions one can ask and she answers it with the most legitimate answer "There is actually no difference... They are just more keys that way and they are different notes"
I'm not an expert, but I've studied music time ago and I know that the black keys are in that specific places because they represent the semitones For example: Between Mi (E) and Fa (F) there is only one semitone, while between Sol (G) and La (A) there is a tone, so we have a black key (Sol# or La♭) Thanks to this change, we can have all the keys one semitone different I know probably all of you know this, but if you don't know anything about music (like me), this sounds interesting
@@djinnxx7050 Exactly. It’s good to ask questions because it helps you learn. Those who don’t ask questions when they need help are the real stupid people.
@@silversunset No. If someone fails to ask a question when they need help, that doesn't make them stupid in the slightest. They may have some degree of social anxiety, feel as if asking would make them appear stupid to others, or are just content to figure it out for themselves no matter how difficult something is. Among other reasons. I believe you and OP need to have a bit of a rethink. I mean, you're both teetering dangerously upon the edge of irony.
4:42 her reaction to you playing all of them at once is so sweet and genuine, instead of being annoyed that your piano is "broken" she's having fun with it too and enjoying this strange encounter. Makes me smile so much

I love how the first teacher casually knew you were playing E just by hearing it. I wonder if that was perfect or relative pitch on her part. She was so sweet and cute!
Perfect pitch, a rare thing. Rick Beato has an episode on why it's impossible for adults to acquire perfect pitch (it's connected to language acquisition) So most likely that teacher's music education began when she was really young
I have perfect pitch since I was a child and it seemed so easy and natural to me. It is hard to understand why it is so difficult for others. But I'm not a professional musician or anything so it is useless to me
@@ryanl5817 well, exactly, you were a child. It is a skill that can only be acquired at a young age, in the same way as speech. You have to be trained to recognize the sounds as the name of the pitch in order to attach that name to that sound. A lot like recognizing and naming colors. Can't name them if them you aren't taught the name.
Just an idea: tune every key on the piano just a little higher than the previous one, so they sound the same if you play a scale but the first and last notes are completely different. Love your videos!
As a guitar player, bass takes zero skill soooo. If you hand any guitar player a bass they can play it very well even if they never played bass. If you hand a bass player a guitar and they've never played guitar before they are going to sound like shit lmao
@@handsomelarsandhisfabulousjars ??? it was a joke… also playing the bass does take a lot of skill. The bass (i’m assuming he’s talking about the double bass) is actually one of the most important stringed instruments in the orchestra. They not only have the job of keeping tempo for the orchestra, but also they are the lowest pitched instrument so it is the easiest to hear. The entire orchestra usually uses the bass as a point of reference when playing pieces, especially complicated ones. And your comparison is strange. What makes you think a bass player can’t play a guitar but not vice versa? Both the guitar and the bass require skill. Do you think bass players get accepted into prestigious orchestras just from owning a bass? It requires several hours a week of practice to master any instrument, including the bass. Just because you feel superior for playing the guitar doesn’t mean you are.
@@mirandaarias1119 I didn't say bass wasn't important musically I said it's easier than normal guitar, what do I base that on? Firsthand experience, I have done the exact experiment I described in my earlier comment with my guitarist and bassist friends and the ones who ONLY played bass couldn't play guitar very well meanwhile my friends who play guitar only including myself picked up the bass technique very easily. Bassists like to think they have so much more "soul" or "groove" than guitarists but that's only because almost anyone can play something that sounds good on bass right away even if it's just E's and G's it still sounds good but it's a lot harder to play something that sounds good on guitar without a decent amount of practice.
@@handsomelarsandhisfabulousjars I have never played guitar - but play piano - if you have never played piano - lets do this same test and I will try guitar and you piano - I will win.

Not quite 😁, a piano can untune itself if it's not cared for properly. Location of where a piano is at when it's tuned up is important , if it's tuned in one location then moved somewhere else then the tuning would sound a bit off and the climate where the piano is at will also affect it a whole lot.
@@josephbennett3482 You didn't get the joke. In the video, the lady asked the story of his piano. He answered that he bought it from a guy, there was this van and the piano was inside of it. Then the lady replied that maybe the piano got out of tune from moving it into his home. Timestamp: 4:05

I got an idea (but it might not be easy to do): exchange the thick and thin strings and tune the piano so that the high notes are on the left and the low notes on the right. Ask someone to play it. When he says something about it, say it's a lefthanded piano.

If your piano is so out of tune every note is E, I'd assume it's broken.

I love how he asks one of the most stupid beginner questions one can ask and she answers it with the most legitimate answer "There is actually no difference... They are just more keys that way and they are different notes"
I'm not an expert, but I've studied music time ago and I know that the black keys are in that specific places because they represent the semitones
For example:
Between Mi (E) and Fa (F) there is only one semitone, while between Sol (G) and La (A) there is a tone, so we have a black key (Sol# or La♭)
Thanks to this change, we can have all the keys one semitone different
I know probably all of you know this, but if you don't know anything about music (like me), this sounds interesting
There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers.

If you learn at least a couple hours of piano it’s not that difficult to tell the notes apart. But yeah it’s not the easiest thing to do.
@@cheddarsunchipsyes8144 recognizing notes out of nowhere without a reference doesn't happen in a couple hours. I've been playing piano for 20 years.
Perfect pitch, a rare thing. Rick Beato has an episode on why it's impossible for adults to acquire perfect pitch (it's connected to language acquisition)
So most likely that teacher's music education began when she was really young
I have perfect pitch since I was a child and it seemed so easy and natural to me. It is hard to understand why it is so difficult for others. But I'm not a professional musician or anything so it is useless to me
@@ryanl5817 well, exactly, you were a child. It is a skill that can only be acquired at a young age, in the same way as speech. You have to be trained to recognize the sounds as the name of the pitch in order to attach that name to that sound. A lot like recognizing and naming colors. Can't name them if them you aren't taught the name.

As a bassplayer I feel insulted when you tell me only playing E feels uninspired!
As a guitar player, bass takes zero skill soooo. If you hand any guitar player a bass they can play it very well even if they never played bass. If you hand a bass player a guitar and they've never played guitar before they are going to sound like shit lmao
@@handsomelarsandhisfabulousjars my friend, shut up
@@handsomelarsandhisfabulousjars ??? it was a joke… also playing the bass does take a lot of skill.

When you move your piano to your home it automatically tunes itself perfectly to E
Not quite 😁, a piano can untune itself if it's not cared for properly. Location of where a piano is at when it's tuned up is important , if it's tuned in one location then moved somewhere else then the tuning would sound a bit off and the climate where the piano is at will also affect it a whole lot.
