I live in Mississippi,USA. I’m 57yrs old. I first saw this video about six months ago. When I saw it , it made me think that if everyone on earth came together in harmony like this group of very diverse and talented musicians,if for just one day, can you imagine how much of a impact it would have on basically everything.. where I live,at the moment, our lives are fixing to be in a total uproar. We are being flooded with refugees from all over the earth. Also we are poisoned with corrupt politicians, and greedy big businesses ,and our street crimes are fixing to skyrocket. I had to look up this video to have my little fantasy one more time. I read some of the comments and realized it affected lots of people from all around the world, just like it did for me. God bless and keep all of you and your loved ones, now and all the days we have left.
There is nothing that brings people together more than song. As my son was growing up here in Montreal CA. we would travel around by the metro system and it would always be a highlight of the day if there were a musician preforming, something we would always stop and watch.
The story is that when “Ode to Joy” was first performed, the Great Master was watching but was totally deaf. He was watching the choir and had to be gently turned around to see the wild applause that greeted his greatest masterpiece.
The little girl wasn't "surprised", she was part of the act. But what a way to bring in such a wonderful rendition of "Ode to Joy". It truly is one of those pieces that always make you feel good.
I just thought it was *REALLY* convenient that she played a song the whole orchestra and chorus was prepared to play at the drop of a dime... /s was coming here to say the same thing. She was part of the performance.
"This should be one of humanity's anthems!" It really should be! And it should not be abused anymore by EU politicians! Let it become the anthem of all people that want to be united in peace Wherever they come from or whoever they may be!
Humans are meant to come together and do amazing things. Not destroy eachother. I cried watching this and I didn't even notice the tears on my face until I felt a drop hit my lap.

I once heard a little six year girl in kindergarten playing the Ode to Joy melody on a little xylophone, and playing it correctly. I ran around the corner to find out who was playing and nearly cried it was such a beautiful sight. When I walked in on her practicing she was shy and stopped. But the beauty of a child playing Ode to Joy all on their own will always warm my heart.

I have seen this before, but it still brought tears to my eyes, and even though I know that this was not spontaneous, this had to all be staged, by the end I still have tears running down my cheeks. Ludwig van Beethoven would have loved to have known that two centuries later, his music still moves people to tears and inspires millions, filling our hearts with joy. Side note: Beethoven was the first major composer to use the human voice as an instrument within a symphony. Utilizing an orchestra bigger than any other at the time, and with a length of well over an hour, longer than any other symphonic work, Beethoven's 9th Symphony was a major turning point in the history of music. Beethoven inspired composers to begin breaking the "rules of composition", and to begin exploring the use of different instruments, unconventional orchestration, large assemblies, and to incorporate deep, extreme emotion in music that would soar to great heights. Music would never be the same. During World War I, German POWs introduced Beethoven to their Japanese captors, and Japanese orchestras began to perform his works. After World War II, Japanese orchestras began performing Beethoven's 9th symphony, hoping to bring in enough paying audience members to help fund rebuilding and reconstruction of the nation. Since then, it has become a Japanese tradition to perform Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the end of every year. On Christmas Day 1989, conductor Leonard Bernstein conducted a performance to celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Iyt was staged but most of the people were just there, it was one of those flash mobs, there's one in the USA that does things like this in random places and it's very cool because the people just walking around, shopping, or whatever had no clue and then all of a sudden the event happens and you can tell people that werent in on the act are totally taken by surprise
Now that is really cool, the bit about the POWs! I think I remember that the Ninth was composed after Beethoven started to go deaf? A true masterpiece!
Which only shows that classical music transcends generations and will still remain forever. It is the duty of the older generation to teach to the next generation the beauty and magic of the classics.
Ode to Joy is right! People gathering together to produce something so beautiful and emotionally connective just proves that music is a truly binding force in the universe. This brought youthful tears to my eyes.

Ode To Joy and Happy Birthday To You will be the other 3 songs I hope become thematic during my remains stay here in this fabulous town in Upstate NY.
I’m trying to imagine how I’d have felt having this happen whilst I’d simply wandered into the square. Moving to watch in video, it must have been incredibly emotional to be present. What a beautiful gift from the little girl and her friends in the orchestra.
Music like this is life changing. Passion like this has a weight to it and I’ve been moved to tears. I love the smiles and fun of it all. I hope she remembers that for the rest of her life.
Amazing spontanaiety of the people of Nuremberg joining in song to the Ode to Joy, beginning with a plastic flute, followed by the street bass celloist, an orchestra converging together, so beautifully charming, filling our hearts with joy.
one of the things that can make people come together is music. a passion to make us partake and listen. no matter the genre, a good music will always make people come together. no matter the race, age, nationality. and it's not just music of course. there are a lot of things we take for granted. simple joys of life that we overlook but can't live without.
Music like this breaks down language barriers and attracts all people of different races and cultures. What a great way to bring one and all together. The season is the reason!
This was so absolutely heartwarming and at a time when I feel not only my country but the world seems to become so fragmented and detached, this was very healing for my soul. Well done! I would love to see more of this around the world. We are all connected and this just makes one feel just that. Thank you. Made my day today. Margo Peyton
If you look at the history of the world, it is now the least fragmented and detached it has ever been. There has been no other time in the world’s history that the people as a whole are more connected. But with that comes a deluge of information of everything going on in the world both heartfelt and heartbreaking. As humans that are so fragile in our existence, we tend to focus and remember the heart breaking as a form of survival mechanism. So this is really the connectivity paradox. The more you are connected the more you feel disconnected.
I saw this video a couple years ago and it still brings tears to my eyes, and I watched it twice last night before bed and another time this morning. This is for me, the greatest and most uplifting piece of music ever written. Thank you Herr von Beethoven. This warms my heart and lifts my spirits every time it's played in my hearing.
There’s something really cool about flash mobs. Yes they rehearse it ahead of time but everyone around them has no idea what’s going on. It makes everything stop hustling around and spend just a few moments in the present, experiencing something beautiful with the people around them. I’ve always thought it would be cool to be a part of something like this or even to see it in person. Beautiful!
I started crying as the Cellist first joined the kid - and till the end of the video - you can understand my condition of emotional outburst. This is the power of music. Much love from Assam, India.
We need to follow the lead of this little girl shyly playing her recorder, followed by the celloist, an orchestra, and chorus. Wouldn't it be wonderful if our world could set aside their differences, gather together in peace and harmony to create beautiful music together?

and it's not just music of course. there are a lot of things we take for granted. simple joys of life that we overlook but can't live without.
❤
I could listen to this all day. Perfect example of how harmonious strangers can be when we can come together without any predjudous.
Truly creat music always seems to sound better when it's impromptu. Specially classical.
Music brings us all together and this is proof.
These Nuremberg folks played and sang beautifully. I do hope I get to be present for a flash mob one of these days…
Beethoven's 9th Symphony is simply the most beautiful music ever written ❤ 😢♥
Music like this breaks down language barriers and attracts all people of different races and cultures. What a great way to bring one and all together. The season is the reason!
This was so absolutely heartwarming and at a time when I feel not only my country but the world seems to become so fragmented and detached, this was very healing for my soul. Well done! I would love to see more of this around the world. We are all connected and this just makes one feel just that. Thank you. Made my day today.

@@charlesgoodis6302 They were expressing how they felt. Why did you have to analyze them?
Excellent, really excellent! Kudos to the musicians and the videographers
While living in Germany and Belgium we witnessed these events at least twice . So much fun and just amazing to see …love it!
No distortion of guitars or pounding drums just Beethoven at his finest played by excellent musicians
Good music is good music, whether Beethoven or Metallica or...
@@Kimoto504 Agreed !! !
There were drums.
This is truly what music aspires to be , both to the listener as well as to the musicians themselves....SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!
Wonderfully performed! Loved the size of the appreciative audience!
This has to be one of my top 3 favorite performances of this. Beautiful.
Beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful
The music was so beautiful that people came from all over the world just to listen!
I started crying as the Cellist first joined the kid - and till the end of the video - you can understand my condition of emotional outburst.
This is the power of music.
Much love from
Assam, India.
Hadn't seen this particular one yet, but this is one of my favorite pieces .... and I absolutely LOVE "flashmobs!" This was great!!!!!!!!!!!!
The simple challenge of one young girl brings joy to an entire town. I hope she remembers the power of that..
We need to follow the lead of this little girl shyly playing her recorder, followed by the celloist, an orchestra, and chorus. Wouldn't it be wonderful if our world could set aside their differences, gather together in peace and harmony to create beautiful music together?
Napisz to oligarchom i głupim politykom ale im ciagle mało kasy na jachty wille, wodke-alkohole i na narkotyki. Tyle na temat ,a najgorsi politycy staruchy bo życie im sie konczy! !!!😐😐😐
Beautiful progression. Divine music. Beethoven would be so proud of such formidable artists and participants.
It brought tears to my eyes 🥲
Me too.
Wow! That's So Incredibly Awesome and Sweet!!❤❤❤
Brings tears to my eyes
Absolutely beautiful. What an outstanding surprise to have a full orchestra performing this
