I wish ford would make a v8 ecoboost with more displacement and start putting them in the super duty line of trucks. The 3.5s seem to tow pretty good so a v8 ought to be a beast.

      This is my problem. I got a 1984 Chevy c20 with a 350 but I have a 1977 International Scout II I’m keeping original. This C20 is my daily. I want to vastly increase efficiency without sacrificing performance either. I’ve played around with 2.7 turbo from the 2019+ trucks, a 2.8 duramax from the 2016+ Colorado/Canyon, even a Buck 3800 from a late 90’s Camaro. But none of them sound good! I care too much about that I guess but still..
      I really need to find an alternative. I refuse to give up the trucks and really want to make it efficient and won’t give up trying

    • @pureprotein9597
      @pureprotein9597 2 года назад +2

      @@calebwhite1454 u can push a fairly efficient 300hp from a 4.3 I believe and it’s got the same bore as ur 350 ;) just two less cylinders. Have you looked into them. It’s not too efficient. But it’s efficient enough. Efficiency depends on how you drive it tho tbh. In my Honda Civic if I beat on it, it cuts the fuel economy to almost half its capabilities if I baby it 😂

    That is excessively loud but I love the turbo sounds! People hate on these trucks for how they sound I feel these people are just old school. V8s are dying, welcome to the new era. This has more power than anything in 80s/90s stock. I'm surprised how much room the bullnose has though. Why do we need the bigger vehicles of today when this size should work for everyone.

    • @zorans5200

      Really?.. it has more power then a 5.0L cobra Mustang turbo??
      Or any turbo V8 for that matter... This is a low compression V6 engine with two small turbos.. you honestly think that in the 80's and 90's they didn't have this kind of power in V8's?? What are you smoking?

    It sounds like a strangled sports car motor. Which it effectively is - the engine also used in the Ford GT, but detuned for torque.
    How reliable is the Ecoboost - assuming proper maintenance? An owner I met had one in his work truck, he was on his second Ecoboost truck, and he said that they lasted quite a bit better than his former truck, a Chevy with an LS. It just seems counter-intuitive that pushing the hell out of a small engine lasts better than letting a big engine loaf.

    • @Synic08
      @Synic08 2 года назад

      I think if you beat the hell out of it at all times, Weight wise, the v8 is better, but the v8 is harder on itself over time just cruising vs any turbo

      LS/new LT GM V8s and the Chrysler 5.7/6.4 Hemis last longer if you beat on them or get cylinder deactivation turned off.

      I have an 2011 SHO with the 3.5 ecoboost in it and it has been a very reliable engine. It has been re-tuned for the last 40k miles - and has seen probably 150 drag strip passes, 12-14 autocross events, and goes on at least two "cruises" a year where I beat on it pretty hard. The only issues to date that I have had (it currently has ~85k miles on it) have been a faulty oil pressure sender (10 minute job, 15 dollar part) and I did injectors on it (the '10-12 model years have a known issue with the stock injectors.) other than that it has never went wrong and I have been quite happy with the car. I figure over ten years of regular abuse that is a more than acceptable reliability. I did the injectors myself (wasn't too hard) and that cost me an afternoon and about ~600 in parts.
      As far as how it sounds - I have the stock exhaust on it - and removed the rear two mufflers and the car sounds pretty good. Sounds way better than the truck in this video - but lets be real - 90% of anything straight piped sounds like garbage.

    • @Baribrotzer
      @Baribrotzer 2 года назад

      @@theangrymarmot8336 Sounds good - although, granted, you're using it as a performance car engine in a performance car, not as a truck engine in a truck. You're hauling about half-a-ton less weight than a truck to start with, not typically pulling a trailer with a small bulldozer or a big ATV that adds another ton or two, and you don't ask any more of it than that it deliver when you put your foot in it. In other words, you're playing to exactly the strength of a smallish turbo engine - short bursts at full-throttle, and allowed to rev - rather than long periods at 3/4 of full-power, and maybe expected to lug like a diesel.
