As you can see he relies heavily on the same safe and spammy attacks, otherwise he is too incompetent to time his dodges correctly. Also, we think he is simply using methods by other people, so essentially he is not playing the game as much as he is pretending to play Elden Ring.

To be fair, giant enemies like these are better fought without a lock-on because you have more control over seeing your surroundings, and it fucks with the camera when they move around (like locking onto a stupid ass dragonfly that flies in goddamn circles...but way more deadly :P). That, and you're mostly going to be underneath them wailing at their ankles anyway unless you're a mage build.

Aside from the visual tells, many players also rely on sound cues when their vision is obscured in some way. Not Phil. If he can't see it, then it doesn't exist.

He even complains and says his hp is too low. I beat the game with less hp than he already has at this point and he's like barely past the halfway point. So overleveled and using a mega-crutch of a build and still thinks he's getting hit too hard. I also love the start of the video where he's like, "Oh shit they patched out the exploit I was going to use to beat this guy...guess I have to actually fight him now."

For me; mainly cuz those 2 big gargoyles huddle next to each other and they have weapons with scary reach.
DS2 despite their wonky hitbox you can kinda spread them apart.

You know, some people are not cut out to play souls games and this guy is absolutely one of them. He just sucks.
He seems like the kind of guy that when he walks in the door at an event and people see him, they roll their eyes and start figuring out how to leave in order to avoid him. He is that incredibly annoying guy that you try to avoid at all costs.
In a couple days Phil will claim in his pre stream that he beat this boss with no problem and he wasn't hard at all.

Every boss that constantly pushes Phil's shit in he says "This boss isn't even hard!" and then goes on to explain how the problem is every other thing except him and his low IQ, bad reflexes and inability to adapt.
Ahh yes, if I could dodge the enemies attacks I too would never get hit at all. If I could avoid edges of cliffs I would never fall at all. If I could avoid water I would never drown at all. If I could avoid invaders I would never get invaded at all.
It's kind of amazing how he's made it this far considering he's barely grasped the mechanics and still doesn't understand how to play his build.

his refusal to lock on to the boss. the fact that he is for some reason purposely fighting the boss on the staircase. his supposed understanding of the fight yet inability to execute any sort of strategy that might be mildly effective. it's truly fascinating

jumping in combat costs stamina so it’s probably within ones best interest to not use it so much during combat as there aren’t that many attacks to jump over anyways..also phil doesn’t seem to pay attention to what move is being queued up when hes mashing buttons out of stamina and dies for it then gets annoyed….damn
