DSP is still severely skill deficient either way though.

It is your punish for getting critically hit while on horseback. Jump attacks are good against humanoid enemies, even omens if you're two handing an upgraded heavy weapon, but phil uses it against dragons and giant snakes, as if he's going to break their poise before the boss barbecues his ass.
Jump attacks can also be good against bosses, because they can help you hit the head of the opponent more easily which sometimes does more damage (like in this case) and sometimes even does more stagger damage so you get a riposte earlier. So jump attacks are usually a good way if you have enough time for the recovery afterwards. Of course, you can also just use the weapon art since it would hit the head as well.
Jump attacks especially with greatweapons that have a long windup for a power attack are also really good as they are executed fast, do about 80% the damage of a fully charged power attack and usually cost less stamina. Downside is they are more likely to miss if not timed or aimed right.

That would be exactly what happened with Niall. One try, he was very happy with himself. Much fun, I would imagine. At his level with that weapon he was essentially bullying the poor guy.
How the fuck is he this far into the game and he still doesn't realize that the horse can get you stunlocked because you can't dodge out of stagger frames and if you get knocked off of it you are stunned for like 4 seconds which is death 90% of the time. It's specifically designed this way so that you don't just try to cheese every open world boss with the horse. You're supposed to only use it for mobility fights like against dragons, you're not supposed to just sit on your horse staying in melee range against an enemy you mindlessly whack.

I beat the game at level 150 and I honestly feel like I was overleveled at least a little, AND my build wasn't optimized but I still tore shit up. I pray DSP doesn't go much higher than that, but he probably will

In the endgame and still relying on circling the enemy on horseback mashing R1 and jump attack spam. Every death is because he was 'stunlocked' because that's the word everyone started using on Twitter. What a robust and unique streamer.
It's legitimately impressive how he consistently has an excuse for every. single. hit. Not a single point of damage is his fault. Never once does he say "whoops I screwed that dodge up" or "shit, I backed myself into the wall", it's ALWAYS the game's fault.
4:15 you read my mind. I said out loud at the same time "Then stop using the horse..." Figuring out to not use the horse for boss encounters is something you learn relatively early into the game. Roughly 10-20 hours maybe. For those who don't know, keep in mind that the game is about 100 hours long.
The horse is actually really good in combat if you don't lock on. Takes a bit of practice but it allows you to quickly jump in get a few hits in and then ride away before the enemy can even hit you. The problem with the horse is just IF you lock on you quickly go in circles around the boss and they can track you. Which is usually a death sentence. But if you know how to use them, the horse it the easiest way to defeat bosses. Not necessarily the fastest way since you are taking a bit more time riding in and out of range, but it is by far the easiest way when it's possible.
I cannot believe how bad he is at this game. How can someone play games for a living and be so terrible at them? His complaints are hilarious too. It’s like he would only be happy with a boss if they just stood there and let him kill them.

13:34 is peak DSP. Has barely more than half health after getting hit multiple times, gets hit by another strong attack afterwards and complaints about losing all of his health in one attack. It’s hard to believe that someone might actually be this braindead.
Especially since the stats it provides get less impactful as you gain more and more stats by leveling yet the dmg penalty becomes even more severe as the dmg output of the enemies gradually ramps up.

He’s using the most broken weapon in the game with a Weapon Art that pretty much fully heals you while doing massive AoE damage…. but because he’s seemingly glued to Torrent he can’t (ab)use it.

@@kuyaaa_ he does that often. I get it, some designs are reused quite a bit, but how many bosses and mini-bosses are there? Hundreds? He wants all of them to have their own fully unique designs and movesets? It's already an insane amount of unique boss and enemy types. Nearly all of the variations you'll find will have some unique twist to them, like a certain element or one or two extra moves you didn't expect. Like with the camera, he just complains and doesn't think about what the solutions might entail.

I don't understand why he insists on fighting on horseback. It's fucking awful in this game for 90% of fights where you can use Torrent. Perhaps the first Tree Sentinel fight it's *okay* to use Torrent. Everything else it's just far better to fight on foot and keep an eye on their attacks instead of focusing on steering the horse. One thing Phil doesn't do is watch the bosses attack patterns at all. Am I alone in this or does everyone else count the combos on bosses for first-time encounters? I notice Phil doesn't do this at all and go for heals/attacks when it's completely unsafe to do this and he gets punished, then complains about it. When it's his own damn fault for not paying attention and just mindlessly wailing on the boss. He's gonna have a hell of a time with Malenia I honestly think he'll rage quit it lmao.

My favorite part is when he said the death rite bird hit him with an insta kill move at full health when he wasn’t at full health and he was hit twice.
Bird does an attack that leaves a very noticeable flame trail behind. DSP goes and stands on top of the flame where the flame staggers and deals damage. Bird then swings at him and knocks him off his horse. DSP: "HE DIDN- HE'S NOT ATTACKING! WHAT IS HITTING ME? THERE IS NO ATTACK OUT! NICE FUCKING HITBOX YOU DUMB PIECE OF SHIT!" Jump attacks are good against humanoid enemies, even omens if you're two handing an upgraded heavy weapon, but phil uses it against dragons and giant snakes, as if he's going to break their poise before the boss barbecues his ass.
But... He doing different "build".
Jump attacks can also be good against bosses, because they can help you hit the head of the opponent more easily which sometimes does more damage (like in this case) and sometimes even does more stagger damage so you get a riposte earlier. So jump attacks are usually a good way if you have enough time for the recovery afterwards. Of course, you can also just use the weapon art since it would hit the head as well.
Jump attacks especially with greatweapons that have a long windup for a power attack are also really good as they are executed fast, do about 80% the damage of a fully charged power attack and usually cost less stamina. Downside is they are more likely to miss if not timed or aimed right.

How the fuck is he this far into the game and he still doesn't realize that the horse can get you stunlocked because you can't dodge out of stagger frames and if you get knocked off of it you are stunned for like 4 seconds which is death 90% of the time.
It's specifically designed this way so that you don't just try to cheese every open world boss with the horse. You're supposed to only use it for mobility fights like against dragons, you're not supposed to just sit on your horse staying in melee range against an enemy you mindlessly whack.

I beat the game at level 150 and I honestly feel like I was overleveled at least a little, AND my build wasn't optimized but I still tore shit up. I pray DSP doesn't go much higher than that, but he probably will

Their damage is definitely overtuned. No other boss or enemy in endgame two shots you in the other games.

4:15 you read my mind. I said out loud at the same time "Then stop using the horse..." Figuring out to not use the horse for boss encounters is something you learn relatively early into the game. Roughly 10-20 hours maybe. For those who don't know, keep in mind that the game is about 100 hours long.
Exactly, there are very few boss fights where the horse gives an advantage. Most the time it's a huge disadvantage to fight bosses on horseback.
For some bosses, for other the horse does help.
The dragons are a good example that the horse is a must

The horse is actually really good in combat if you don't lock on. Takes a bit of practice but it allows you to quickly jump in get a few hits in and then ride away before the enemy can even hit you. The problem with the horse is just IF you lock on you quickly go in circles around the boss and they can track you. Which is usually a death sentence. But if you know how to use them, the horse it the easiest way to defeat bosses. Not necessarily the fastest way since you are taking a bit more time riding in and out of range, but it is by far the easiest way when it's possible.

@@kuyaaa_ he does that often. I get it, some designs are reused quite a bit, but how many bosses and mini-bosses are there? Hundreds? He wants all of them to have their own fully unique designs and movesets? It's already an insane amount of unique boss and enemy types. Nearly all of the variations you'll find will have some unique twist to them, like a certain element or one or two extra moves you didn't expect. Like with the camera, he just complains and doesn't think about what the solutions might entail.

I don't understand why he insists on fighting on horseback. It's fucking awful in this game for 90% of fights where you can use Torrent. Perhaps the first Tree Sentinel fight it's *okay* to use Torrent. Everything else it's just far better to fight on foot and keep an eye on their attacks instead of focusing on steering the horse.
One thing Phil doesn't do is watch the bosses attack patterns at all. Am I alone in this or does everyone else count the combos on bosses for first-time encounters? I notice Phil doesn't do this at all and go for heals/attacks when it's completely unsafe to do this and he gets punished, then complains about it. When it's his own damn fault for not paying attention and just mindlessly wailing on the boss.
He's gonna have a hell of a time with Malenia I honestly think he'll rage quit it lmao.

My favorite part is when he said the death rite bird hit him with an insta kill move at full health when he wasn’t at full health and he was hit twice.
Bird does an attack that leaves a very noticeable flame trail behind.
DSP goes and stands on top of the flame where the flame staggers and deals damage.
Bird then swings at him and knocks him off his horse.
DSP: "HE DIDN- HE'S NOT ATTACKING! WHAT IS HITTING ME? THERE IS NO ATTACK OUT! NICE FUCKING HITBOX YOU DUMB PIECE OF SHIT!"

I fucking love how his usual tactic of "JUMP R2 EVERY ENEMY" is not viable when it takes him 3 seconds to land the hit, and groups of enemies won't let him.
I wouldn’t tolerate this crybaby attitude from my 8 year old so the fact that this 40 year old “man” does this unironically is genuinely shocking. Seriously, who never disciplined their kid once growing up? This is what you create.
Example A: 13:36 he genuinely had an emotional moment that he couldn’t control. This is literally one phase away from tears.
The more annoying part is that he's 100% wrong too. He was already missing 1/3 his health and still survived the first hit and only died seconds later when rolled backwards into the fire like the dent head he is
