See, I use guides when I play Elden Ring, too. The only difference is that I'm not calling myself the "best gamer in the country" or a "hardcore gamer". Nothing wrong with playing a game anyway you want, but you forgo that the minute you stream for an audience. At that point, it's not your playthrough anymore, Phil.
Notice how he only upgraded three weapons: the flame sword he used to cheese hands, the rapier he used to cheese one boss, and the halberd he has used for 40 hours almost never changes? Total coincidence.
Genuinely surprised actually that he didn't run and get hoarstomp or moonveil. Its weird when Phil uses guides because the internet will tell you how obvious that bleed builds are the easiest form of a physical build to go with atm besides maybe spamming stomp. If DSP wanted to cheese the game in a smart way he should've just went and got the moonveil. Bosses don't dodge its weapon art. It does hunks and hunks when upgraded and scales well. Its relatively low startup and low risk. It does more poise/stagger damage then alot of big weapon R2s from said blasts that take not too much FP.
@@edwardedward842 Can't put hoarstomp on any of the OP weapons he looked up and moonveil doesn't fit his build. I've played full dex, dex/arcane, and full strength builds. Bleed builds are good but not that good unless you use some of the exploits it has. I'd say strength is the best. You get the most stagger which is OP in this game and you also get access to the best shields which are also very good in this game. Bleed builds make your dps higher on a lot of bosses but it doesn't work on some of the harder bosses and you need a good shield for the hardest boss. The best part is strength builds are way more stat-efficient so you can build more hp and endurance which are very good in this game (a 50 vig/50 endurance/50 strength build is totally possible by endgame and is very strong).

"The boss won't let me heal" Yes, the AI actually takes advantage of when you heal because its smart, the lesson to learn here is to be smarter and heal when you're safe
I love the fact that in ten years, some random will come across random clips of phil playing in these ugly ass vests and hats and genuinely think that this dude was a wheelchair that dressed like this to play games. That mixed with his complaining is such a perfect balance.

he's trying to put that into his narrative so he can "claim" "this is my first blind play-through but check out how good I am", Sure you are Phil hahaha

He always seems on the verge of tears when he complains about the bosses or a tree or a wall or a jar of shit on the floor that prevents him from moving
What I find most hilarious about this is that he still doesn't understand how lock on works after all these years. He assumes that just because he's locked on the game will auto correct all his swings.
Phil: "The key to this boss is to dodge and learning its attacks" Also Phil: *Does the same mistakes 70 times on a row, panic rolls non-stop, stays 10 meters away from the boss at all times despite using a melee-focused build, spams and wonders why he got punished* "I DID NOTHING WRONG, I DID EVERYTHING CORRECT!"
Why does he care if people say he uses a guide? I've been doing that since day one since I don't have 10 hours a day to play. Doesn't make me any less of a gamer.
using guides isn't a bad thing. but the way he acts about using them is. Of course he has used a guide in every fromsoft game he has played but pretends he has "discovered" things by accident. his ego wont allow it.
You can certainly use guides, however remember that if you do you actually lose much of the fun of a blind run. Furthermore Phil is a content creator PRETENDING to do a blind let's play, so what he does is literally cheating. Mind you this is what he has always done since the beginning playing Fromsoft games. At the first sign of some challenge he immediately resort to either overlevelling or being handheld/watching guides. The problem with Phil is always the same: he doesn't play games for the fun or challenge of it but just because he can make money out of them, hence from his point of view any waste of time is a loss of money (and he even says so repeatedly himself if you listen closely).
I can give him a break on using guides for this one; it’s a big game with a lot of stuff that’s easy to miss. I personally gave up on the “no guides” mentality after about 4 hours of no progress because I have better things to do than mindlessly wander around staring at a horse’s ass. What I cannot give him a break on is his shitty attitude after 14 years.

I went to the caves underleveled as fk and I knew straight away DSP would hate it. He did not disappoint, somehow though he had a harder time with his build than I did with my basic long sword and scythe which bounces off them
7:50 he expected the enemy to make a specific move in response of the jump-attack. Newsflash Phil: this isn't fighting game and AI don't abide to framedata.
I remember back in the day phil would need to use the bathroom when he's having problems with a game and come back and the game would be a walk in the park.
Tbf I think taking a 10 minute break from getting your ass kicked is usually a recipe for success. It seems common enough that returning after some time, be it a few minutes or day, is enough time for the player to digest what they learned and the git gud. You can do that, but it would take very long and is very inefficient. You certainly will not get "showered" with runes doing that. There are far better ways of getting OP early that are arguably faster but certainly not lazy. It's also not just about runes. Not exactly a gripe IMO, the game gives you tons of freedom. Later game enemies and bosses will still givenyou a tough fight, though.
@@loubloom1941 The exploring will net a lot of runes as long pick up things and clear caves/tombs/mines and slicing down a giant/dragon/packs of vulgar militiamen or similar on your way to something takes little to no effort and is a few thousand runes here and there for just passing by and it all adds up.

“Of course he has insane range, like every boss in this game!” Well, yeah, Phil, he’s literally using telekinesis to hit you with his sword. Also, no wonder his audience doesn’t like the way he plays, who would? No originality, no creativity, just whatever he can use to cheese the game and get that money goal up as fast as possible. All because Godrick made him look like a fool, which he is. And he cannot handle that fact.
To be somewhat fair, the Bell Bearing Hunter is kinda ridiculous with his outright denial of many playstyles with his massive range and combos that go on forever. Still doesn't detract from Phil's suckage.
The funny thing is, Godrick has some of the most predictable attacks that are so easy to dodge once you learn them. That tells you a lot about good ole dave here huh
@@vahlok1426 I think the only truly bs one is the one in Caelid, at 30 vig, rl 140, and like 38% phys absorption, he would still chunk me for 1/3+ health on quick attacks, and his combos were brutal if he caught you out once, not to mention his ranged vader sword swing can be a 4+ combo. I still am learning about streaming myself but isn't there like either bots or a function that takes the name a amount of tip/super chat/etc so the streamer doesn't have to?
Playing games is a business?
@@ickyfist What do you mean by ‘hardest boss’? The consensus is Malenia is the hardest boss and I agree, and using a shield there is a horrible idea because she heals on hit, so even a great shield will get you nowhere.

More than any previous Fromsoft game, Elden Ring punishes player habits:
Mistimed rolls/Roll spam - enemies oft attack in patterns which catch you when I-frames cease
Backing off - many enemies keep up the pressure
Healing - enemies, particularly Crucible Knights, have at least one fast attack which covers a lot of ground
Altogether, the game hammers Phil despite his abundance of cheese
You definitely have to learn if an enemy punishes aggressive behaviors or defensive behaviors. Rarely do they do both. Except the black night assassin in the catacombs, fuck that guy.
"How can an enemy from down there snipe me perfectly?" it's almost like they're wizards and they're casting spells or something and Attention span isn't defined by how long you can sit somewhere staring at a wall without anything happening

Gaming isn’t your job, but it is Piggy’s. That’s why it would be shameful for him to admit it.

I'm not sure why using guides is so bad, I mean Moist Critical used guides on his playthrough for finding bosses and for Rani's questline.
Haha, how can he be this weak? One of my gripes with Elden Ring is that you get so overpowered too easily with all the souls (runes) the game showers upon you for simply exploring and lazily killing enemies from atop your horse as you ride past them trying to get anywhere.
It doesn't matter if you get overpowered easily when you're suck at game anyway.
Yeah I agree. Im like 110 hours in, about to finish the capital at like level 125 and I feel way too high level. Exploring really beefs you up big time. My only counter balance up to this point was having low vigor (mohg at 28 vigor was wild 😂).
I actually have to go out of my way to not use my runes to level up. I never farmed souls or anything, just happened from trying to crawl into every nook and cranny in the game.
The hotboxes on this game are super fair and accurate btw, one of the best on all from soft games.
