Great points on squaring up “before” adding adding borders .. come across this issue many times being wavy or wonky or just simply “unable” to FMQ it 👍🏼
also tip: Cut your borders for both sides the exact same length. (your top and bottom the same length and then both sides the same length.) its best to get the length of your border by measuring across the middle. Then, fold your border in half and fold your quilt in half. Mark where the center of whatever side you're working on and pin the center of the border strip to the middle of the quilt side. Then pin the end of the strip to the end of the quilt and the beginning of the strip to the beginning of the side. After the middle, top and end of your strip is pinned then you finish pining the border. By doing that, your basically making your quilt fit the border on both sides which will make your quilt lie flat rather then wavy like the quilt in the video. Best of Luck!
It looks to me like the person who made the original top stretched the border when ironing it. Often, the "wavy" borders are caused more via poor ironing than poor measuring/sewing, if a person stretches the border fabric while ironing (either when ironing before attaching or ironing after attaching or both) then it stretches the fabric out of shape and into that bow shape. Always PRESS, vs. rubbing the iron and never tug or stretch while ironing. Starching fabric helps tremendously as well. Share with your clients about proper ironing, and that will help them.
I found your information helpful, especially about squaring up the quilt top. Using rulers can be a mystery if a beginner like myself - so, I felt there wasn't enough detail about how to use the ruler to square up the quilt top. When a quilt top is pieced and ready for bordering, I'd hate to make a ruler placement mistake. Otherwise, I was greatly helped by your video.
Good advice, and for those who like me never learned the proper way to put on borders (and that also includes borders around a motif or block), here is a great video on that and preventing bubbles and ruffles in your quilt tops: ruclips.net/video/paIq1tkEy4A/видео.html

Used this process for a doll quilt, fairly new to quilting, it was a disaster
Oh my gosh this is terrifying. Must say this has put me off sewing for others. Yikes
