@@Drachenschnauze Probably not, his rendition of this piece is recorded and quite laid back regarding technical terms. It seems old Pablo was playing music for fun, not for perfection.
I agree he is a marvel of a performer, but when you are as advanced in age as I am, you’ve heard so many violinists perform this beautiful composition. Never compare artists or play them against each other. Just enjoy their God given talent. It’s hours and hours of hard work to get to this level of ability.
That finishing sequence is absurd. There are a lot of other fantastic violin players that more than do this piece justice. But those last measures here... Augustin is on another level.
He is an incredible musican - much more than "only" one of the best or best violinist. His musicality and technical precision are so "natural", individual and impressive - i think that makes him so special.
Idk if anyone can be called "the best" but he is always consistently veeeeeery good. I prefer individual pieces by others, but he is always in the top 3 (imo) for almost any piece I've heard him play. Masssssive respects
Augustin, your playing may be the best I've ever heard. Your intonation is astounding, and I don't think your techical facility will ever be exceeded. Breathtaking, sensitive, sincere, and humble. You have been through some terrible things. Like Perlman's polio, your burn injuries seem to have brought out something warm and almost divine. You are a blessing to mankind. God bless you.
There is a depth of soul that only comes through hardship. People ask if there *is* a God, why He allows horrible things to happen to good people. This is my answer. I had a period of great suffering that felt like punishment but now I realize why it had to happen... and I'm no virtuoso. It's called the Refiner's Fire, and Augustin is pure gold. Not only as a musician, but from what I've seen it's as a human being as well.
@@elizabethf8078 I recall Perlman saying that after his polio he realized he had no other way but the violin. He's a big strong guy, maybe he wanted to be an athlete, but then his choices vanished.
I doubt Itzhak or Augustin would agree that their respective impediments brought anything to their music. Its just hard work honesty towards your own product. No fake grandeur or fake humility. You play, you listen, you fix. For years and years. And in the last inch... the talent makes the difference. Some people can achieve 99%, but only a few can do 100%. That said. I cry every time I listen to Augustin. I am so humbled by his mastery I want to hide in a corner and never touch the instrument again. My heart and brain want this sound, but my hands can not produce it. Not in a million years. My playing is a pale shadow of real violin playing. But at least I was alive to hear these masters play. I have to be thankful for that.
This interpretation is simply breathtaking, there are no words to describe how great his playing is. But I just want to point out how great piano accompanist is following him, it's like he feels every note Augustin will play and just blends into it. Incredible combination of two talents.
I just stumbled on him a few days ago after seeing miss Mississippi butcher zapateado. In the comments, someone mentioned him and I checked him out and fell in love!
Wow, so much of this piece is about the rubato, and so few violinists really seem to get that. This one is perfect. The agressive yet tender Gypsy character comes alive. Wonderful!
Wow!!! I have heard every major and minor artist play this - Francescatti, Heifetz, Elman, Stern, Josefowicz, Bell, Oistrakh, Markov, Lendvay, Panfili, Grumiaux, Nadien, Zukerman, Rabin, Kogan, Zalai, Midori, etc., etc., etc. - and I am absolutely certain it cannot be played any better.
@@generalsnicky3219 beat me up to it. Ithzak Perlman is more balanced and his intonation is just flawless, but Hadelich is way more powerful. I like this one better because Augustin's playing just catches you and inmerses you into a different world; his rendition is just more soulful to me. There are currently some great violinists but this man brings something EXTRA to the stage. Don't know what you call it. Genius isn't quite enough somehow. . .
Это просто великолепно! Эти музыканты сначала вывернули мне всю душу наизнанку, а потом заставили плясать от счастья! Просто потрясающие! И скрипач, и пианист - идеальный дуэт! Спасибо!
We are a musical family. Both my daughters play piano my son is a violinist my husband plays piano and I did back in the day. We had tickets to hear Augustin play but because of the pandemic show was canceled. My son is a total perlman fan and we saw him recently and I just love Augustin. I don't know just the way he plays and the emotion it just gets to me. I hope to hear him play live.
Pensaba en mi vida que ya había visto todo ........después de verte ejecutar con tan pasión.........pienso .....ahora sí....ya no hay nada más GRANDE.... increíble
Yes, and it's not by Sarasate...he, well, "borrowed" it... ruclips.net/video/IWzsp2v13Bw/видео.html It's a composition by Elemér Szentirmay, a song called „Csak egy szép lány van a világon“. www.henle.de/blog/de/2013/08/19/geklaute-melodien-%E2%80%93-sarasates-%E2%80%9Ezigeunerweisen%E2%80%9C-unter-plagiatsverdacht/ What I find remarkable is, that Sarasates gypsy airs have no relationship to the music of the spanish Calés...that it's only based on ungarian folkmusic which was played by ungarian roma.
I was supposed to go see him live one weekend but I got stuck in a different state for work unfortunately I missed that golden opportunity to see him play in Jersey I'm so bummed out I hope there will be another chance
This music is alive! I am so impressed by the ability to play with such technique and heart at the same time. His other music from different eras is just as exciting. I am truly grateful!

Un violinista completo, absolutamente top, sucesor de los grandes, Heifetz, Oistrach, Francescatti, Milstein, Szering, Grimiaux, Rabin u Perlman, el tiene técnicamente un poco de todos, pero un personalidad propia.
His left hand pizzicato at 7:00 is just too clean. When others play it, the difference left hand pizzicato and spiccato is very audible, but when here it's almost indistinguishable

I love Akira’s accompaniment. He helps Augustine shine.
I can see Pablo looking on rolling his mustache in approval saying "Well another one finally got it right!"!! Bravo sir!!
Yes haha
Yes
Were he so critical?
@@Drachenschnauze Probably not, his rendition of this piece is recorded and quite laid back regarding technical terms. It seems old Pablo was playing music for fun, not for perfection.
In many scores it's actually written that Sarasate incouraged different interpretations and styles to best emulate the so called 'gipsy music'.
No one can make those clear high notes sing like this man.
Indeed, I believe you need a flawless technique and a very fine Instrument for that

Passionate while not heavy-handed. So many mistake passion for steamrolling. Perfect as usual, Augustin.. And from 7:00 on I was in tears.
My favorite violinist. His Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso is just perfect.
Literally tho
Absolutely. I used to think Perlman had my favorite interpretation, but his is better imo.
Wow, I love that super-sharp staccato!! Excellent performance (as is usual for Augustin!!)!!
Same here! I’ve never heard anything quite as super sharp at speed. 😲
