this song was played in my grandpas funeral and every time i hear it i can memorize him walking next to his garden and giving me one of his sunflowers he had you see he had a bee farm and his house was filled with flowers and everytime the bees got enough pollin he will ring a little bell and all the bees will go back and make the honey..for me it was magical. I just have that one image of him thats all i only been with him once and i feel like i known him for years

I first fell in love with Clair de lune when I fell in love with a girl, it then became my heart break song. Then lullaby. This has been my go to place a lot iny life.. happy or sad so in a way became the soundtrack to my life and its ups and downs. Thank you David and Frieda for playing it so beautifully.

Only him and Heifetz I believe that has no sense of nervous when they play. That has something to do with the character other than the ability to play the violin.

I am shaken. This piece is here performed with so much intensity and tenderness that words would never be able to describe. It's fabulous and played with extraordinary mastery and talent. It's played with a heart and an extremely deep warmth. We can already feel that it's not interpreted only to impress people, but rather to make us hear a soul that's screaming at full lungs and that's hitting us all right away. We can only be touched by the notes so carefully well played and can't help listening with our feelings. It's a short and wonderful journey, one of the most sincere interpretations I heard in my life. Greetings to this talent few people can have, to this gift.

I admire many great violinists but David Oïstrakh's sound always strikes a special feeling inside me words would hardly describe.
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life.
Again, I thank RUclips for bringing exisite sublimness to my life. My father, in a phone conversation with me, talked about music, he was 85. Classiscal music came up, and he mentioined Claire De Lune as his favorite piece. He owened a stereo, and albums, but had come to the point where he couldn't operate it anymore - not that he would try to burden me with that worry. As we chatted, I pulled this up and he listened on the extenstion. Beautiful moment between father, music, and daughter.

I didn't know how much I wanted to hear this exceptional piano piece with a violin until I heard it. It just added a whole new dimension and goddamn, it amplified the emotions that the song portrays.

There are a lot of people that they don’t understand this music. Okay. However David Oistrakh is one the best if only the biggest virtuoso violinist ever and we have respect him.
I eard the piano version and was like "wow it's beautiful"
but the violin version... mom.. it's so heart breaking.. I keep listening to it since yesterday and I'm still crying.

I don't normally like classical music...but I am choosing songs for my wedding...out of all the songs I have listened to, this is the one that touches me...so beautiful it makes me want to cry.
In this world, we must always allow and respect the freedom of opinion. Someone might simply hate this piece, because their spouse dropped dead while it was being played or that person may have gotten a rejection letter from the Curtis Institute of Music while this was playing. We all have our reasons to like or dislike anything. I never try to convince others to like what I like. That is being a bully. As a matter of fact, you might think I am odd, I go to about 100 live concerts and recitals each year, alone. I like going alone, because I do not care about the opinions of others.------ I adore this piece and agree with Ray Chen that this is a lovely transcription of this piano work----and a great performance.
I believe that classical music performances on RUclips represent humankind at its finest: gifted musicians spending a lifetime mastering their instrument, coming together to coordinate their understanding of a masterwork(s) and then through the miracle of technology, making it available for all of us to see and hear, for free.

my Grandmother Marilyn was the light of my life. She had tk sacrifice a career as a concert pianist to raise her children and grandchildren who were aboandoned by their fathers. She always played this song for me and when I lost her in 2016 my world crumbled. she taught us that music is a direct expression of the soul. Love you Nanny. Rest in Glory

I feel the same way about pianists. Nobody today has the fire that pianists like gyorgy cziffra or josef lhevinne etc had, no one comes close no matter how technically brilliant they may be.

David Oistrakh is and was one of the greatest violinist ever in 400 years of any violinist, and he played Debussy's Clair de lune flawlessly...I cannot imagine anyone with any music in them to dislike this particular performance...it shows the ignorance of 272 people...really sad!
