    I am 92 yrs old, I grew up listenning Fritz Crizler, Jasha Heifez and then David Oisttrakh.And after listening Augustin Hadelich for couple of times I believe that he is perfect just like them. I cannot find a proper word to describe his virtuosity.. Gokce Ergun.

      I'm 83 now. My late father was the first recordinng artist in India for Odeon records and agent in Bombay for HMV and I too grew up listening to both European and Hindustani classics. I remember another violinist of that genre, Kreisler and a little known Polish pianist called Benito Michaelangeli. They were ALL great.

      I heard David Oisttrakh for the first time from my father's vinyl ... L V Beethoven violin concerto and now I can say that Hadelich is his true successor. I hope you are in good health, Mr. Ergun.

    I'm 87 years old and I had the privilege of seeing Yehudi Menuhin play in 1967 in my city... I'm also a musician and I taught for 68 years. Today I am already weakened and I am not able to play paganini... but I learned valuable lessons with his Caprichos and today I only listen to good violinists such as this beautiful young man.

    Nothing short of extraordinary! I agree with all the comments below - a modern-day Kreisler. Hadelich owns the concerto. He brings the flair of bygone years and modern day perfection together in a breathtaking performance. Fun to watch the bedazzled expression on the faces of the string section and the admiration from the other parts of the orchestra. The cadenza is a special treat all on its own. Few have commented on the match between the soloist and the orchestra. Jader Bignamini is a highly empathetic and brilliant conductor, bringing out the best in the Detroit Symphony. The conducting of the orchestral part of the Paganini #1 is often blunt, but not here. What an awesome performance.

    I had to muster great force of will to resist from listening to the entire performance. I just heard the first two pages of the solo violin part and no more. I didn’t want to spoil it for myself because I will be attending Mr Hadelich’s performance of this very same concerto with The Florida Orchestra in St. Petersburg next month. But the little I heard has convinced me that this is the best and most beautiful interpretation of the Paganini Concerto I’ve heard in my life since Shmuel Ashkenazi’s recording on Deutsche Grammaphon from decades ago when I was a teenager. I just love his refreshingly original and innovative approach to this often-played piece. He emphasizes the singing, Bel Canto character rather than the “look at my dazzling technique” approach that most fiddlers prefer. Mr. Hadelich is the Numero Uno among today’s great violinists, in my opinion, and I’m so grateful he’s coming down to Florida soon. Thank you!! 🙏🏻🎻

    • @edifyguy
      @edifyguy 3 года назад +7

      @@florindacar8659 Now there's an interesting idea. Showcasing local musical instruments. As a violinist, I have to tell you that there's some risk to a performer who does this. The relationship between a violinist and his own instrument is extremely close. A performer on an unfamiliar instrument will be limited by not knowing exactly how it will respond, thus being forced to choose between trying things which may not work well on the instrument, or taking a very conservative approach which would be relatively bland.
      The only way this would work well would be if the performer could practice in advance with the instruments so that they could develop an understanding of its "quirks and features." If that were done, this could be a fabulous way to give some additional cultural value to musical instruments not presently being played.

    This is one of the best Paganini Concerto No. 1 performances I have ever heard. Techniques ,to him, are no longer something to impress the audience but the integral part of his being. His fingers effortlessly flied on the fingerboard, producing notes that were as pure and sweet as the honey that instantly melted in your ears. The last time I had such excitement was when I listened to Shlomo Mintz played the same concerto using Paganini’s own violin “El Cannone”. Bravo👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉

    As a rule I make it a habit never to speak in absolutes. Never! But, this is absolutely the finest recording of this piece that I have heard in many years in my opinion. Augustin's performance offers us, the listeners, every single note to savor as it's own delicacy for however long the note merits. In this way he reminds me of Szeryng's recording of the Bach Sonatas and Partitas. Both are in complete command of their instrument - precision without harshness, warmth without schmaltz and speed without reckless abandon around the many ups and downs and turns and bends required to deliver a truly virtuous performance of very demanding music. We should all keep in mind that the efforts of the conductor, Jader Bignamini, and the Detroit Symphony were just as masterful and deserving of equal appreciation for this beautiful work of art. God Bless them all.

    On one level it is just great to hear a performance of this piece which understands that everything Paganini wrote was, above all, lyrical, and - a few obvious lollipops and flashy variations aside - not merely an opportunity to bash the way through a load of violinistic gymnastics (the contemporary newspaper reviews most often report the rapt attention which Paganini's singing tone aroused and commanded of his audience, and not the mere flashiness of his playing). On another level, if Nathan Milstein was the Aristocrat of the Violin, then Mr Hadelich is surely his rightful successor. There's my tuppence-worth ♫

    I was interested to learn he plays on Szeryng's delGesu. When I was a student in Pittsburgh in the early 60's Sidney Harth invited Szeryng to play a recital for us. He was in Pgh. to play with the Symphony. He walk into our small recital hall, opened up his DOUBLE violin case and showed us his Strad and his Guarneri del Gesu and it's likely the same one Hadelich plays here. He then played a Bach Sonata. There's no more worthy heir to this magnificent violin. You hear every single note played perfectly. What a joy to hear and watch this phenomenal player.
