Dave Grohl is hands down without a doubt the greatest drummer to ever play guitar.
+Wade Wilson He just says fuck it and plays everything
+Wade Wilson Make that the best drummer to ever become a frontman.
+Wade Wilson I thought you liked listening to Shoop by Salt-n-Pepa Wade?
+Wade Wilson
Absolutely.
Josh Homme liked it, and Queens of The Stone Age too!! ;)
RIP Taylor, I had the honor to see you perform live twice… you will be missed 😢
I sharted in my pants....twice.
I saw them only once on the All my Life tour…I’ve seen Van Halen 16 times live and Eddie is God but that one and only Foo show I was at is still the Greatest Live show I’ve ever been to…
I was waiting for my first show in Milan... so sad...💔
I had the honor to work with him
(Angry Baldi) HEY YOU. NO MORE REST IN PEACE. BUT TAYLOR HAWKINS IS A BORN!!! >:(
Producer: Do you guys want a music video or lyric video?
Foos: Yes.
I like this, it's easier to follow the lyrics the first time around
🤣
Ua
ohh yearrh it's funny
And Rick Nielsen
Taylor is the best drummer in the world
Was😭
@@becsbrooking8317He is the best forever even he is gone now😢
I'm pretty sure that when Dave got older he will be considered a rock legend, just like Lemmy. Personally I think he already is. Epic guy, epic band.
+Ana Duarte True that !
His contribution to rock with foo fighters, in my opinion, is bigger then whit Nirvana. And, just the fact of him be on those two fucking legend bands, is something BIG. Really big.
add TCV, Probot and the Sound City ensemble and he's fucking HUGE.
+CLA82529 don't forget QotSA
He's practically one already.
So... that's Holy Diver right?
Ride The Tiger!
I knew I couldn't have been the only one who thought that lol
Yup, with a dash of "Call Me When You're Sober" at 3:18. Sprinkled throughout with with misc Sabbath riffs.
Nope, Holy Diver has really great singing.
actually i think it's a mix of Holy Diver with Victim of Changes by Judas Priest.
R.I.P Taylor uno de mis bateristas favoritos ❤️
Re teso
Still can't believe it!!
ele eh o meu idolo, me inspiro mt nelo tanto na habilidade da bateria quando na personalidade
Es sierto mi baterista favorito D:
❤️
Dave went from losing the frontman of his band and selling home-recorded cassettes to creating an iconic band. He became something from nothing
Im #100 like, viva México viva David, the foo han marcado mi vida desde su principio. Gracias!!!
If starting from Nirvana is nothing, then I'd love to start from nothing
he still spots for other bands that need a drummer now and then. what gets me is he pretty much does everything by ear. that makes for a great producer too. he had a few lessons, got the guitar figured out a little, then just ran with it, then he learned to play drums by watching and listening to Rush tracks. not sure about his singing, but he went from keeping the beat to being the heart and still helping out other bands. Dave is, if nothing else, one hell of a guy.
If you watch the Sonic highway CD this song is definitely about Buddy Guy.... With some lyrics about the Chicago punk scene thrown in.
@@calebpope4664 well he did help make nirvana so ig he became something from nothing then lost the something and made it again
I listened to nirvana and then foo fighters growing up, my dad loved their music too. My dad passed away 3 years ago. . He was kind of an amateur astronomer, and obsessed with ufo's. He explained to me what foo fighters were. Just strengthens the connection between this music and my memory of my dad. Keep on keepin' on guys. Much love from MN!
F
I’m sorry for loss I’ve gone through a lot of personal battles and this band is absolutely hands down Awsome!!!!!!!
sorry for your loss. Love you little one.
Minnesota for the win!! I bet you really love the song the sky is a neighborhood?
@@wait...what... aww thanks It's still hard but gotta keep going
It's weird, but, I think this is my favorite Foo Fighters song ever. Just because of how Raw and how Real it is. This is Dave's song, about his life, and he's pouring his entire soul into this rocking song. It's everything a Foo Fighters song should be; Loud guitars, loud fucking chorus, heavy riff, and heavy climax. Perfection.
+greenday103921guns Actually this song is written about Buddy Guy
The song he wrote about himself was Feast and Famine
Taylor, you rocked every time you sat at your drum set. The world has lost a true legend full of enthusiasm, humour and zest for life. We miss you already. Thoughts are with the band, your family and friends 😢
I've never understood why this album is loathed by a lot of music critics. I loved it when it was released and still do.
I really wish that Dave becomes appreciated as a rock ledge do one day... I know FF fans already appreciate how much of not just a guitarist/vocalist he is, but from being a drummer previously, a songwriter, a director, and all round creative genius. I mean playing every single instrument on a full album himself, I doubt many other artists can say that. I know his fans already see him like that and he loves his fans no matter what, but Dave is honestly this generations musical God and I’d love for other artists to see him like that, the ones that don’t already ❤️
Molly MacDonald to be honest both Dave and Kurt’s music has helped me get thru so much in my life. When I was a teenager and angry at the world, and everything around me and also having depression Kurt’s music helped me thru those times and now Daves music is helping me come out of a major rut in my life.
He's a Cool guy, definitely my favorite musician.
I’m 57 and I love these guys!! Dude rocks with energy, love of all music and the fans!! One of the best!!!
I have appreciated Dave Grohl and the rest of the of foo fighters since I was 4years old and went to see him when I was 5 and Dave Grohl has been my favourite singer and foo fighters as my favourite band
@@richterbelmont97 sure, he's great!
Dave: "Hey guys, what's the best part of any given Foo Fighters song?"
Band: "The bridge?"
Dave: "We're going to make a song that's only bridge, and it's gonna blow everyone's shit right out the door!"
oh
jajajajajajajaja XDDDD
***** it's the part just before the chorus :)
Guillermo Rodríguez Isn't it also more the "special" part often placed between the second chorus and third verse? Like a basic song usually goes verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus or something.
Guillermo Rodríguez No that's the prechorus, bridge is the part after the second chorus usually, that's different from the verse/chorus/into/outro.
In an alternate universe, _this_ was the #1 song of the year, and not.. whatever it actually was; I don't even remember.
the Foos most underrated gem. SONIC HIGHWAYS. Coupled with the documentary it is a music lovers treat. RIP HAWKMAN
Easily
First time I heard Sonic Highways I actually didn't like it, but after listening to it a few times it eventually became my favourite Foo Fighters album. The songs are fantastic, and I love that every song has relation to certain cities in America, it makes for an interesting, amazing album.
Yes
+Caedo same
+Caedo That makes two of us!
+Caedo Wasting Light is much better o/
Celso Souza I loved Wasting Light too, it's a fantastic album in every right, but in my opinion Sonic Highways trumps Wasting Light easy.
1:30 a little holy diver
More than a little , but it sound cool so... why not ?!!
xD
same
Not just a little! hahah it is Holy diver!
watch the doco they did about the album, they explain it on there
What a great groove. Slow, but intense build up! Also, love the dio inspiration with the holy diver! "Fuck it all, I CAME FROM NOTHING!" This song proves why the foo fighters are one of the greatest rock bands to ever grace our stages and studios!
more than an inspiration.

too all the people bitching about "They ripped off holy diver", if you remember, they are making each song in a different city, the point is to get inspiration and also a sense of what music was made in that particular city in the song, so basically, putting in that riff was the hole point, because Dio was huge, i think they are smart enough to know they were playing a similar riff to holy diver, considering they are professional musicians :)
Dave was Dio's neighbor for years as well.
It's only small part of that riff. Maybe they bought it. Who knows...
XBebopo Didn't know that :)
Dave Grohl is probably the most badass individual to ever walk the face of this planet.
Lemmy Kilmister is dead now but he still has that title
but dave is close ^^

Lyrics:
Watch the video
The part where he yells fuck it all I came from nothing just rattles me so good
Dave is intense. That is what makes him great. He is punk, he is pop, he is classical... he is simply the very best. He is far better than Zep and the Beatles, but today's culture does not get it. We are so priviledged to have him now. Go see him live often. These days will not be here forever.
He’s the vanguard of rock
This part and that guitar solo make me want to run through a brick wall
It's therapy to me
I "too" came from nothing!
Can never get enough of FOO FIGHTERS... Dave is one of the most amazing artist in such a long time .....
Lovingevery minuteofit69 he’s actually a longest drummer and vocal for along time
My Favorite Foo Fighters song, and one of my favorites by anyone, ever ...
Best Part? When Guest Guitarist Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick comes in after the second verse and the chorus and rips through those Power Chords starting at 2:56 ... Fantastic
The riff that starts at 1:29 reminds me of Holy Diver.
+nnathangrahamm wow you are right
+nnathangrahamm Its intentional i believe, tribute album :p
YEEEESSS
I think you meant to say, "HOLY DIVA!!!"
+nnathangrahamm I said this the first time I heard this song, and everyone looked at me like I was insane. P.S. no disrespect to Dio or anything, but KSE covered that song so much better than the original.
This song just keeps getting better with every listen. Damn...I'm so in love with these guys.
Earlier I rocked ever long. Twice. And it was better yet again. Damn good band.
That's Rick Neilson from Cheap Trick. Not only can you see him in the shadows but you can hear him. Love it !
this album is so criminally underrated, it's insane
My Dad got me into this band, which consequently got me into Nirvana, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Pierce the Veil and Bring me the Horizon. Thank you so much Dad; I owe you one

ME TOO!
its got a real nice beatles vibe to it in the verses

Producer: How many guitars do you want in this song?
Dave: Yes
I like to imagine that every time the Foo's release something, Kurt looks down at them and says "Not bad kid."
I just got to say I think Dave Grohl a better musician than Kurt Cobain ever was ,don’t get me wrong .. i’m old and I know all about Nirvana.. they’re not even in the same spectrum in my mind
Joe Keithley I agree. Kurt is an legendary artist. Dave is a working musician.
Well put sir. We saw Foo last year in Phoenix where we live I have footage on my phone .with a sickest show I’ve ever been to man. and they sound exactly same they’re so tight .. It sucks wait for this Covid they were going to start tour here again I was going to go.. oh well glad I had the chance .
Yal the is GROOVY AF
@@joekeithley1809 they're both incomparable, Dave's had incredible writing although recent albums have been meh. Kurt could write a song like no one else, and I feel if he was still alive he'd never have a bad album

+ezakiah smith They have no sense of good music...
Not everyone has to agree on everything. As a foos fan since 95 I was highly disappointed with the whole album and this single.
+ezakiah smith they might just disagree with the ripp-off.
You know....DIO's song.
Though I am a fan of your silly videos like "Learn to Fly" and "Walk", it's rather refreshing to see a video like this, which is effectively just seven guys rocking out and having the time of their fucking lives.
..Absolutely tho simple there is subtle progression through out the video to link with the song.. The lights moving towards them as the tempo builds.. Just an impressive all round product from them...
Rest in Peace Taylor Hawkins, Truly a great musician who was gone too soon, May you rest in peace
I'm going to miss him so much! Taylor was one of the best drummers ever! R.I.P Taylor
Hello there, How are you doing today? It’s nice connecting with you here.
*20 years after forming*
*still makes kickass music*
In my humble opinion this is the most aggressive and the best Foo Fighter song I've ever heard. The plug noise in the solo was perfect, and the guitar tone was fucking beautiful. It really bit just right.
Lyrics were incredible
I would like to see what you guys would do if this song was the stylistic frame work for a whole album. Just an entire album of the heaviest Foo possible.. A Vulgar Display of Foo?
Yea, you guys have my attention but if you did an album like this song, you would steal my soul.
I couldn't agree more man.
+IPushHard Pretender is also quite aggressive.
+IPushHard Yeah I got the Pantera reference
the first 2 albums of the foo fighters were the best ones.

lol Ive been getting some comments on my comment... Came by to say thanks ended up playing the video again... and DAM if that solo doesn't get me every time. I could seriously slice that short piece and just loop it for an hour!
Glad that so many feel same on this!
Maybe they even see a RUclips comment sometimes and are sharpening their picks like battle axes for just such an album?
Why not? They have owned everything else already. May as well have some more fun and kick the dam wall down. Then watch all the industry ears perk up again!
ahhh well, we can dream.
Thanks

We miss you Taylor.
Shoulda won the grammy
I said the exact same thing. The guys that got it were decent but foo fighters was way better
+Scotty Cena Not really, Muse won a award for Best Rock Album and that's rock even though some songs were a bit in the poppy side.
+Michael Swanton Just an over-rated paper-weight, anyways....real musicians & fans don't care about those dumb awards or that joke known as the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame"
It should have. Alabama shakes is not even fucking rock. I'm so pissed off
Sonic highways and drones are both 7/10 albums but both bands can do much better, but that's just me
1:29 Already heard that riff... Holy diver ?!
No.
it's obviously a shameless ripoff.
boberson33 Lol, "No."? Did you ever listened Dio - Holy Diver? :)
There is no shame in borrowing a riff, they didn't copy the whole damn thing, in fact you can hear a lot of similar riffs in music, with so much music out these days, stuff is bound to be similar
Khp13sU-L
it's the exact same riff, only shorter.
It's gonna be a long time before I can listen to any Foo's song without crying, a very long time
Hi I Recommend a Song Called 'Don't Lie to Me' by Robert Nix
Descanse em Paz, meu héroi Taylor 😔😔
3:05 Thats quite a Cheap Trick to throw Rick Nielsen in there with out telling anybody.
I was wondering how far down the comments I would have to go before someone noticed it. Old school cool.
@Leila Rose Asselin Where can I find that?
@Leila Rose Asselin He was also part of the Sound City documentary that Grohl did. And was on the Real to Reel album that went with it
I had to rewind it I thought I was tripping
So it was him. Saw the checkers and thought "wait, what, is that?" Cool!!!
The Dio type riff is cool. Wow! Also an appearance of Rick Nielsen
Yes! When i first heard this song i instantly remembered that holy diver riff
I just love how this song builds up constantly. It has a great tension that just seems to explode.
How a man can come back again.. Again and again.... This is how
You know what amazes me about These Guys? Is that they don't take this as serious a normal Rock band would. That's one of the many reasons why this band is so great and so popular. Before being anything else, they like being themselves and enjoy playing music just for fun instead of doin' it just for money. Who would name their band "Foo Fighters" and still be fuckin awesome?
This song is wonderful, and i hope the rest of the album is just as good.
Probably the only good rock band around still making music today. Respect to the foo fighters.
QotSA? Royal Blood?

Nothing but respect. My anthem for a long time.
I've listened to this song a couple of times now, but just now I realised how powerful and beautiful Dave's lyrics are.
The guy is simply a legend, and so as the legacy this band will leave for us
Oh fuck, I see you guys complaining on EVERY big band that finally comes with a new song... And it's always the same bullshit "they were better" "i prefer the old style" "they will never make another song like x and y again". Guys, this is the Foo Fighters we all know/love, all the elements are here. I don't get the point. Yeah, the harmony is simple, we can predict the next chords of this song, but I don't care, this isn't what matters, this is what FF is, they never did nothing beyooond this... every music nowadays is a bunch of recycled ideas to create something new... kind of. Or you guys are tired of this kind of music or you guys think you understand some shit of music and expected them to surprise you playing some revolutionary multiscalevirtuosytclyfuckingsolosmasteroftechniques... THIS song rocks, dave is a fucking great frontman/singer/screamer and that's it :D
Yeap, if it is easy make good songs, why people can t do it ? :) I still love all the songs of FF :) and i a m a kind of musician too, and the most simple chords are the fucking best
Couldn't have said it any better.
>this is what FF is, they never did nothing beyooond this...
Thanks for summing up everything that's wrong with the Foo Fighters.
Apple/ /Green Its better a band to stay and be something like the same, but with a bit of change, than a band that change his style. If you want to see band with different styles then go listen to metallica.
Damn right!
In tears writing this comment, thinking about the single time I got to see these guys play in 2018. I am so grateful - we will never forget you Taylor. I can't imagine how the guys must feel, I'm still so shocked.
Hello there, How are you doing today? It’s nice connecting with you here.
Don’t know why but this song gives me a sense of reassurance and comfort when I’m licking my wounds after life gives me a setback or two. Maybe it’s musical arrangement, buildup of the verses or something but it just gives you that juice to keep going you know. Refusing to give into setbacks life tends to hand your way. “Something from nothing”
Hi I recommend a song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Perfect way to start off this morning!
Fuck It All I Came From Nothing

Jesus… this song is 7 years old. I remember when this ALBUM came out. Time flies.
The beginning beat is so fire, and the song has so many layers. This has to be my favorite by them
Watch the documentary guys. The lyrics will mean so much more.
***** On HBO Fridays at 11:00 Eastern Time. It's an 8 episode mini-series.
You're right about that, great lyrics. The first episode was great.
Skin and Bones + In The Flesh + I Should Have Known + Holy Diver = This FUCKING Masterpiece!!! Thank you!
can't stop thinking about this tragedy, he wil be missed forever
Only just starting to get into Foo Fighters. I love their songs. So talented, great tunes.
Good music never dies. I am constantly finding new groups and songs from eras and genres I've never heard of before and liking
So amazing these guys can keep on crafting rock masterpieces like this after 20 years. Wow!
Dave Grohl
Yeah, 'cause Dave would say that, lol. And they did get some help from Dio on this one.
I know it's your opinion and that's cool but I couldn't disagree more. Most Foo Fighters stuff is too safe. Doesn't take enough risks. In my opinion the only rock masterpiece he wrote was Everlong. Everything else is too safe to make a lasting impression. Just my view though. Rock is pretty much dead at this point. Nobody makes good rock music anymore.
I hear ya. To me it seems like it's starting to make a comeback, ie The Black Keys, Dead Sara, Wolf Alice, etc. Hopefully it will gain steam with more rock being produced and not being made bland or just not getting heard because of record label bureaucracy.
ThePsvan Yeah I hope so. I've listened to the Black Keys and I think they're alright. I'll have to listen to Wolf Alice and Dead Sara.
lasoogneypubes What about Green Day?
1,875 people were something but are now nothing.
RIP Taylor Hawkins
Beautiful music.
Dave Ghrol voice is simply sublime.
I've never been a Foo Fighters fab, but I watched the entire Sonic Highways documentary on HBO and found a great respect for David Grohl. Plus, I have to admit this song kicks ass. And this is coming from a Slayer fan
Most people argue this song is a huge clusterfuck of sounds and that lyrics don't make any sense, but after watching Sonic Highways Chicago episode, the whole lyrics make so much sense and the sound as well. Everything comes from what's come before, the Muddy Water reference, it's all so meaningful. It might not be a super rock hit everyone was waiting for, but in the end this is one of the most meaningful ones, the creation of this record is a composition of the music and feelings of an entire city, that is just fucking brilliant. And also Rick Nielsen is in it which is freaking amazing! You go Foo Fighters I can't wait for the next city covered in Sonic Highways.
When he screams: “I came from nothing” it gives me the chills. Amazing musical storyteller. YOU GOTTA READ HIS BOOK!!!
It really shows, when you consider that the very first foo fighters album was played solely by dave grohl. No band, no bass player, no drummer, no guitarist, just dave. Such immense talent cannot ever actually be described, and I love the foo fighters, have loved em ever since I first listened to my hero way back in 1997 when I was 9 years old. That song defined my life. This band has defined my whole life.
just bought this album, fuck yeah
I gotta say, that is the coolest music video ever, simple and artistic.
I love how they "payed tribute" to the main riff from Holy Diver in this song.
One of Dave's all time favourite.
Dave screaming "All Rise!" provided such a cathartic release for many. Nothing like it.
You don't have to be a fan to like at least one song of the Foo Fighters.
I just watched the making of this song. It has many layers, now I can appreciate the details a little more.
This song is so underated. This is just as epic as All my Life, the pretender
It’s all great, but the drums at 1:32 are forever engrained in my head. So smooth. RIP
I can understand why even Foo Fighters fans are hating on this song, saying its boring, that the lyrics are bad, that is isn't classic anymore, that the mix is bad.
I thought all that myself. But it's been a while since they've released anything new. I just think it takes time to get used to it, when I heard the new KOL album the first time I was like "what is this piece of sh*t I am listening to?" But I listened to it over and over and ended up loving and understating why the changes.
I know the same will happen with Sonic Highways, it's a little strange at first, but once the album comes out and I get to hear it beginning to end, I know I will love it. It happened to me with Wasting Light, strange first, but then I absolutely loved it.
Just give it time. Foo Fighters is the greatest rock band today
They're coming up with a great record. Which I personally think it'll be more enjoyed and understood by actual musicians, more than the people that just want/like to listen to "hits/radio friendly" songs only, which are CLEARLY the ones hating on this song right now talking sh*t through comments.
I agree... except for the fact I already think this song and The Feast and the Famine are great. High expectations for Sonic Highways
I think the songwriting's exemplary tho. I mean, the song's just purely honest, and as for the bad mixing and all, they must understand that Foo recorded the songs on this record at different studios, so the mixing will definitely be different. It's the essence of the Sonic Highways project. Or maybe it's just me. Haha
It’s a good song but one of the riffs was ripped of from holy diver by dio
FUCK IT ALL I CAME FROM NOTHING!!!
that part gave me chills
Andrew Kendall thats what she said
unkle ace 😂😂😂
ynwa
aymen ob Oh yeah! my favourite part
Not only a great song but to have Rick Neilson playing on it makes it even better
Their lyrics are second to none
I don't care what anyone says i can hear a natural progression in Mr Dave's music and him maturing also! People just saying this is all power chords is stoopid! If you don't like it that is fair enough but why would you want a band to stay the same for ever? The arctic monkeys are another great example of watching a band mature and grow! The thing that i LOVE about the Foo Fighters is that there is no bullshit just love of what they do! Wasting light is my favorite album because i heard a leap in the product they have been creating, it went from great to one of the best rock albums of all time! Now please don't take that as gospel just my opinion! If they can top it for me my ears will gasm! I WILL EARGASM! Cheers you sexy music bastards :D
just one song too and its old foo style people saying this suck are obviously people who have not heard the first 2 albumns
Adam Green
you heard the second track? really good to!
Incredible song! I fell in love after just one listening.
I've finally found this song after 5 years and still sounds amazing
I hope your still licensing it a year later
Where did you lose it?
This damned song...pulls me out of dark places every time I listen to it. So great.
me too
Foo Fighters is by far one of the few bands that just kept getting better with time.
Nothing more true, nothing tighter, no music better than that of a Foo Fighter.
No matter what mood I'm in, this song just PUMPS me up... and I listen to Deathcore primarily. I feel like I'm in the video jamming out with them, and then once that like "fuck it all, I came from nothing" happens it's head bang time. Such a good song, such a good band. RIP Taylor.
Such a great song, rest in peace Taylor.
