      This. Their development cycle on bodies looks well set now and imagine the R5ii out soon and R1 following after that. But lenses, my oh my. So slow! RF-S zooms no where to be seen along with middle tier RF (they used to have gold decals on EF)

    For me it's the R7. Having full frame just isn't as big of a deal as it use to be anymore. The only stat the R8 has over the R7 is the full frame. For me I never shoot over 2k ISO, and I know how to work the lenses on a "crop". Depending on your needs the choice shall vary 👍🏽

    If Canon opens up the RF mount for third party lens makers and mount adapter makers, I'm getting an R8 but if not then I'll just go Blackmagic for video and Fuji for photography. I sold all my shares of Canon when they sent the letter out to the lens manufacturers. I've been using Canon since 2005 but that move was a losing one.

    Waiting for Sony to hit back and looks are subjective and fx30 has more flexible creative options than ghs52 I reckon, because it still has more lens selections, but true low light isn't so good and I agree rf lenses too pricy

    Why? Good question. These are fine "fill in the gaps" cameras that you release AFTER you have a full line of both affordable and professional lenses. Unless Canon has just decided that most people are just going to use old EF lenses anyway.

      Many Canon lenses have a build in and very capabel IS (all the RF lenses have 5 levels of stabilisation). So not that much need for an IBIS on the lower end bodies since the non stabilised lenses are typically in the > 1500€ price range and not what the average R8 customer buys

    Great video but there is something that I quite don't understand and I apologize for what I'm about to say next. I do really have the impression that must youtubers are trying to justify what it is not a good enough product. I'm talking about the R8. Is this supposed to be a mid tier camera in the R segment? No IBIS, no shutter protection to the sensor when changing lenses, smaller battery size, so less autonomy to go out and shoot, oh yes you buy more batteries and that' s it, really? They put 6FPS en electronic first curtain in the R8 and 12 in the R50, really? Oh ok you have the 40 FPS in electronic, yes but a tiny buffer, not to mention what happens when you try to shoot indoors with flickering lights. I can understand the fact of only one card, I can understand a "lower" electronic view finder like in the R7 (witch is totally fine for me), I can understand the lack of proper weather sealing even the buffer size I can understand. Do you really believe that putting IBIS, more FPS (e.g. 10), bigger battery will make the camera much more expensive? the R7 has it. Oh yes is an APSC rather than a FF. Come on we are all smarter than that! So to make the long story short! If someone jumps to point me out that I got it wrong, that the R8 is more a replacement of the RP rather than a replacement of the R, then, hands down, I will 100% agree that the R8 is a fantastic product.

    • @abdelsadinodio7841
      @abdelsadinodio7841 Год назад

      @G A I fully agree with you , but if we take into account the naming convention of the R* system I think there is not going to be a truly replacement of the R. Let us hope that I'm wrong, but I still no see a truly mid tier FF body in the R system yet. In my humble opinion Canon tried to replace both (RP and R) with the R8. Again, let us hope that I'm wrong.

    • @abdelsadinodio7841
      @abdelsadinodio7841 Год назад

      @G A The problem I see here is that Canon's autofocus has become so good that trying to silde a new body in between the R6/mkII and the R8 (in this case) without shooting themselves in the foot will certainly become a real challenge for them 🤔. In my opinion, they should have ramped this camera a little more (lp6n* battery, ibis, maybe a less capable one up to 4 stops of compensation; but better than nothing, same buffer; but 10FPS in mechanical mode, maybe up to 30 FPS ES, curtain protection to the sensor when changing lenses same video specs and a price range in between 1799 and 2000) would have made more sense.

      More Megapixel on the tiny sensor means a lousy high ISO capability and a very high demands on the lenses. Same as the 90D where the sensor came from - quite a few that upgraded from the 80D downgraded again.
      And the tiny sensor has other problems compared to a full frame as well (bigger DoF etc). Animals peepers are a minority, Canon should have kept the pint sized sensors and the jammering majority to EOS M or DSLR

    They fit where Canon lure unsuspecting consumers in at Bestbuy, who thought they bought a cheap brand name camera, but then are hampered by taking shitty pictures on the SHITTY canon kit lens, and stuck because there are no other cheap lens options, so 18-45 piece of crap, 16mm piece of crap becomes their only daily lenses.
