@@abentleymedia I want to come back to photography after 6 years of brake and saw R50 and want to ask if it's enough for long exposure photos, low light photos, and things like rally and car meets. I watched a lot of videos about R50, and I can't decide.
Dude this video is crazy good with really really high quality, when did you start this channel and videography, this channel is hea underrated for the quality
I just bought the R50 and agree completely about the quality of this camera. I don’t like zoom lenses, but with the 16/2.8 (25.6mm equiv), 28/2.8 pancake (44.8mm equiv) and 50/1.8 (80mm equiv) the R50 makes for a very compact and capable travel kit. I have mine set to shoot in RAW plus highest quality JPEG set to monochrome with orange filter effect and high contrast and get absolutely stunning results.
That’s great!! Thank you for the lenses too! I’ve never actually used those, so that’s good to know! That’s amazing! Thank you so much for sharing! This is inspiring! :)

Well done! Being a decades long Canon shooter I just bought a R50! Will pair it with the 18-150mm lens so i rarely would change lenses....Really enjoyed you showing the AUTO creative capabilities and in camera features. Many users will be able to get fun pictures as easy as an iPhone with more details, etc. Simply amazing in such a budget camera and add in the astounding AF and it's a fabulous value. Thanks for the review!
Thank you and congrats on the purchase! It should pair if you get the adapter that’s also in the description (unless the 18-150 is already RF) It’s true! Canon did well at making that a reality! Thank you for your kind words and tuning in! I hope to see you around! :)
@@abentleymedia the Canon RF-S 18-150mm is a R sensor lens and likely all most shooters would need. Also a bit "faster" f-stop at 18mm (f3.5) and obviously longer focal length equal to about 240mm on a full frame camera. I used EF-S lens with my Canon APS-C dSLR cameras and the 18-135mm eded up being a favorite. The RF-S 18-150mm would eliminate switching lenses all the time for me at least which is important (again to me.)
Man, I'm just getting into photography and was super unsure about which camera to pick. The R50 was one of my options, and your video helped me decide on it. Just bought it and can't wait to use it. Thanks for the help and great content!
Excellent review Andrew. I haven’t purchased a camera in a long time, and now I’m retired, I’m seriously thinking about this R50. I’ve blitzed through countless reviews and I must say this final review is the icing on the cake. Cheers.
Like others have mentioned this video is such amazing quality with all the effects you've used etc. Looking forward to seeing more. By far the most informative video I've came across for this camera, covering many features people usually overlook. I picked up mine on Black Friday and have been shooting only in manual but after watching this I'm going to experiment with some of the auto creative modes.
Thank you! That really means a lot! :) I’m glad I could cover most of it! There’s still more that I even learned about this camera now! Nice!! I love to hear it!! Also, fun little discovery I made, if you’re in manual mode you can still use the creative filters! All you have to do is hit Q to pull up the quick menu on screen and it should be in the bottom right as an option. You can select that and then even control how strong you want each filter! THEN you also have control over the settings instead of being fully auto! :) I’d love to hear about your results! :)
@abentleymedia_ ahh okay thanks for the tip I'll check it out. Quite good for when your taking photos on holiday or something that you don't want to spend ages editing.
I have replaced my M50 with the R50 after almost four years. I was flipping posts about the R50 camera late last night and I know everyone has an opinion about things they like or are able to effort. I love your video about the R50 camera you have explained everything without being biased that I was not able to suggest to some many people that were questioning the R50 camera. I’m currently working on a review for the a6400! I’d say the r50 will certainly have more newer features, less rolling shutter, and 10-bit color for video. Other than that, the a6400 is definitely a tried and true classic. I would say that if you could afford it, it would be better to do the a6700 over the a6400, and I would probably recommend the r50 over the a6400 since I believe it’s starting to become more outdated

Every review I watched focused a lot on the video aspect of this camera and I thought it wasn’t for me being a street photographer but you proved me me wrong and changed my opinion on it.

@@abentleymedia is there anything that you recommend. I like the focus bracketing feature in the r50 and my main thing is event photography and sports photography.
Honestly, either camera will work for the photography that you’re doing. However, I have a lot of friends that use the R6 and rely on it. Both cameras are very similar in specs, but I have personally never used them so I can’t make a well-informed suggestion. I will say, if you do have the budget for the R6 or the R7 I would definitely go with either of those since you will get better specs out of it. So if you want to shoot video for sports, specifically, I would go for the R6 or R7. I hope that helps!
Thank you haha I’m glad the video could help!! Thank you for the kind words and for tuning in! Happy shooting with the camera and I hope to see you around! :)
Great video. I'm waiting until 2025 to choose a system to going mirrorless. I still have my Nikon and Canon DSLRs, and I had Sony APSC mirrorless and Nikon Z50 / Z30 in the past. Each system have their advantages and shortcomings. For a person who uses the camera just for fun Canon APSC it's a good alternative, you can get the kit lens, the cheap telezoom, the 50mm 1.8, the 16mm and the EF adapter for the cheap. You don't need to mess with the weird way Canon have to set the white balance or the lack of C-log2. For a more advance uses cases then Sony is a good alternative, even Fuji or Nikon if the Z6III is up to par. Canon become too much pricier when you factor the more advanced lenses. With Sony or Fuji you can get very good cheap pro quality lenses from Viltrox, Sigma, Tamron and others.
Thank you! That’s not a bad idea, they’re constantly improving! I can agree that there are benefits and downsides to each system for sure. It all truly comes down to personal preference :) Thank you for the comment and tuning in!

I've owned an r50 for over a month and had no idea it did all of this. I pretty much exclusively shot in manual or Av. I've been very happy with my R50 and the rf-s 18-150. Top notch AF and professional level image quality 😊
I watched the whole and expected you to have atleast 100k subs. Crazy that you have less than 500. Glad to be part of your first 500 subs. Can’t wait to see what is coming.

I am using R8 after selling my Canon R10. R10 was an awesome camera but lacked the necessary lenses, especially for Vlog Prime with a fast aperture and overall zoom lens. Now I need a second camera. R50 could be perfect if it has a good kit lens. The M50 had a great kit lens. I wish Canon would redesign or change their worse 18-45m F4.5-6.3 kit lens.
The r10 is awesome! You can always just purchase the newer kit lens, it’s compatible with the r10! I’d say the r50’s Kit lens is the best one I’ve seen yet from Canon
@ghalibsworld it has much better auto focus and even the glass has been improved for sharper images Unfortunately that’ll be most Kit lenses that get blind after afternoon. If you want a lens with a good focal length and is a faster aperture, I’d look at this lens: amzn.to/3SEXeRl It’s one of my favorite lenses that I’ve used!
Great video !! Fantastic editing and effects also !! I haul cars in an enclosed trailer most if not everything that goes in my trailer are exotics and classics. This camera would be perfect to take some pictures of cars !
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Oh wow that’s such a cool job!! I hope to be able to see some photos when you take them! Thank you for tuning in! :)
It doesn’t? I personally haven’t noticed that it doesn’t have autofocus in 4K. The only time I don’t have autofocus is actually because of the lens that I use from time to time since the lens doesn’t have autofocus
I love my R50, but I don’t use any of the modes except for aperture priority and occasionally manual. I am a 40+ year advanced amateur with an R5 as my primary camera. I bought the R50 as a second body and pocket camera (RF28/2.8 makes it seriously tiny), but I actually use it more than my R5.
This video was exceptional! Great quality , great information. Thank you for this detailed video. I was stuck choosing between the Sony zve10 and this R50 , and now my mind has been made up. Canon R50 for the win 🎉👌 Just subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos 👍
I have RP + 24-240 (my main camera) and an R50 + 100-400 (for occasional extra reach). Only issue I have is the R50 is that it is so small I'm accidentally activating the buttons near the right hand grip. Annoying but, as an occasional second body, a compromise price v quality I'll accept. Maybe over time I'll work out how to grip it to avoid the issue.
That’s very fair haha it’s definitely one of the smallest canon DSLRs I’ve seen and I can definitely understand that haha That’s great to hear about the RP as your main though! Thank you for tuning in and sharing! I hope to see you around! :)
Thank you for the question! If you’re able to afford the r10, I would go for the r10 since it will be able to last you longer with the better video specs that are more standard nowadays with 4K 60fps! :)
Hey Andrew great content 💯 , what will be your recommendation between canon EOS r50 vs sony zv e10 vs sony a6400 ? I am looking for a hybrid camera which can be good in both photography and videography.
Hey! Thank you so much! I’m happy you tuned in! :) I’d recommend the r50 solely for the video capabilities being slight better than the other two with 10-bit color depth whereas the a6400 has 8-bit, same with the zv e10 (even though it shoots slog3, the 8-bit renders this useless pretty much) Photo wise, the zv e10 might be a little better with autofocus but they’re all SUPER close in specs when it comes to photos I hope this helps! :)

Every review I watched focused a lot on the video aspect of this camera and I thought it wasn’t for me being a street photographer but you proved me me wrong and changed my opinion on it.
Oh wow that’s great to hear! I’m glad I could help! Thank you for tuning in! I hope to see you around! :)
Bro you are worth more than 100K subs. Wishing you all the best and see you there very soon.

Thank you soo much for this video I’m upgrading my rebel t7 and I am torn between the r50 , r6, and r7. Really just looking to upgrade and not sure what to get. I’m truly grateful for your review. Keep making videos. I’ve watched this videos five times in the past two days. Very informative.
You’re welcome!! Ooo those are all great choices!
I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you so much for tuning in! It means a lot and I’m glad the video could help! :)
@@abentleymediayes it does TREMENDOUSLY!!!
Okay good I’m glad!! Happy shooting! :)
Thank god i stumble on your videos! Very easy to understand and im sold with my choices to buy this camera as a beginner

This is the best review of this camera just yet!
Thank you so much that means a lot! Thank you for tuning in too!
It all truly comes down to personal preference :)
Thank you for the comment and tuning in!
This was so helpful! I just purchased the R50 with the 2 lens kit from Canon. I’m a complete beginner and there’s so much to learn! I can’t wait 😆
I’m so happy to hear it helped! That’s so exciting! You’re gonna have a blast with this camera! Happy learning and thank you for tuning in! :)
Hey, I was watching to learn about the R50 and noticed you are in the triangle. I'm in NC too. I'm a puppeteer and film maker. Nice to find your videos!
Hey that’s awesome! What a cool combo to be in! Heck yeah! I’m happy you found them! If you’re near the triangle, there’s a filmmakers meetup you should come to! Hit me up on instagram I’d love to connect!
Dude....really nice overview. Been looking at the R50 for a bit and will say your breakdown was one of the more in-depth I've watched. Well done. Oh and hey from down the road in Raleigh.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it and glad you tuned in and commented! :) it’s great to have you here!
Oh no way! That’s awesome!
Deserve hundred of thousand subscribers!!! Editing of your was the best!
Thank you so much that means a lot! And thank you for tuning in! I hope to see you around :)
I've owned an r50 for over a month and had no idea it did all of this. I pretty much exclusively shot in manual or Av. I've been very happy with my R50 and the rf-s 18-150. Top notch AF and professional level image quality 😊
I can completely relate there haha that’s amazing though! Also good to know about the 18-150! Thank you so much for tuning in and your comment! :)
I watched the whole and expected you to have atleast 100k subs. Crazy that you have less than 500. Glad to be part of your first 500 subs. Can’t wait to see what is coming.
Thank you so much that means a lot! I’m happy to have you here too! :)

@@abentleymedia do you like 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 ? In which way it is good? After afternoon it is almost blind or forced to use 12800 or higher ISO.
@ghalibsworld it has much better auto focus and even the glass has been improved for sharper images
Unfortunately that’ll be most Kit lenses that get blind after afternoon. If you want a lens with a good focal length and is a faster aperture, I’d look at this lens:
amzn.to/3SEXeRl
It’s one of my favorite lenses that I’ve used!
That HDR mode looks useful, because there are a lot of times where the background is brighter, or the shadows are too severe.
It definitely is! It’s nice that cameras are incorporating this in camera nowadays!
Thank you for tuning in! :)
The only thing I don't like about it it doesn't have auto focus when shooting in 4K. I wanted to use his camera for a podcast.
It doesn’t? I personally haven’t noticed that it doesn’t have autofocus in 4K. The only time I don’t have autofocus is actually because of the lens that I use from time to time since the lens doesn’t have autofocus
best review i've seen in youtube! very detailed! nice! :)
Thank you so much! That means a lot! Thank you for tuning in! :)
I am subbing for sure, your vids are extremely enjoyable and straight to the point!

This is the best video for Canon R50 ! Wish you get to work with Canon in future 🎉
Thank you so much that means a lot! Thank you for tuning in! I certainly hope I get to work with Canon in the future!! :)
Those are great modes to use and that’s really incredible how you use it more than the r5! Thank you for sharing and tuning in! :)
this video is amazing, great job. hope you make more
Thank you so much! I definitely will be! I hope you tune in more! :)

I just bought one. Thinking to pair it with a 24-105mm L f4 (through an adapter).
Congrats on the purchase! That’s a great idea! You’re going to make some incredible things! :)
Debating between sonyzve10 and r50, any thoughts on which is better for video?
I would go with the r50 since you can get 10-but color and the zve10 can only shoot 8-bit
Really well done video. Great job!
Thank you so much! And thank you for tuning in! :)
This video was exceptional! Great quality , great information. Thank you for this detailed video. I was stuck choosing between the Sony zve10 and this R50 , and now my mind has been made up.
Canon R50 for the win 🎉👌

i’m looking into upgrading to a R50 for 4k video - just curious what the file size is for a 4k 30 minute video? thx
Oh man, I’m not entirely sure tbh! I think some of my 7 minute clips are roughly 15gb since I shoot in the HDR PQ mode!
@@abentleymedia thanks
You’re welcome! Thank YOU! :)
Hi! Thank you for this amazing review! Quick question, is the kit lens enough to take great photos? Thank you!
Thank YOU for tuning in! :)
It absolutely is! I’d say it’s one of the best kit lenses I’ve used!
@@abentleymediathanks for the quick response. Really appreciate it. Now, I'm convinced! R50 it is! ❤️ thank you, more power to you!
Of course!!
That’s great!! I’m super happy to hear that for you!!
Thank you for the kind words and comment! I hope you enjoy the R50!
That’s very fair haha it’s definitely one of the smallest canon DSLRs I’ve seen and I can definitely understand that haha
That’s great to hear about the RP as your main though! Thank you for tuning in and sharing! I hope to see you around! :)
Just want to ask a question. I'm going to buy mine first camera. I have two choices r10 or r50😮, which one i should pick?
Thank you for the question! If you’re able to afford the r10, I would go for the r10 since it will be able to last you longer with the better video specs that are more standard nowadays with 4K 60fps! :)
Excellent. You know what you are saying. Keep up.
Thank you! I greatly appreciate it! Thank you for tuning in and I hope to see you around!
Keep up the good job. One must be objective in one's opinion. I am a very senior semi professional photographer.
Thank you! That’s very true, it’s a refreshing point of view to take!
Hey that’s great I’m glad to hear that though!
Great review. I bought my R50 because of this video. 😊
Thank you so much! That’s great! Happy shooting and thank you for tuning in! :)
Hey Andrew great content 💯 , what will be your recommendation between canon EOS r50 vs sony zv e10 vs sony a6400 ? I am looking for a hybrid camera which can be good in both photography and videography.
Hey! Thank you so much! I’m happy you tuned in! :)
I’d recommend the r50 solely for the video capabilities being slight better than the other two with 10-bit color depth whereas the a6400 has 8-bit, same with the zv e10 (even though it shoots slog3, the 8-bit renders this useless pretty much)
Photo wise, the zv e10 might be a little better with autofocus but they’re all SUPER close in specs when it comes to photos
I hope this helps! :)
