Aps-C sensors are different on Canon. They are a bit smaller, that’s why crop on Canon Aps C camaras is 1.6x and not 1.5x. Maybe that is the reason why the ZV e10 is better in low light.
If the problem is the availability of lenses for the R50, here is the solution: just buy a Canon EF to Canon RF adapter... With this adapter, you will have a much larger number of lenses available compared to the availability of Lenses for the Sony E system. You can also mount all the R series lenses on the Canon R50. I think just being able to shoot a 10-bit video on the Canon R50 already makes it twice as good as the Sony ZV-E10. I have the Sony ZV-E10 and I also have a Canon R7. Greetings!!!
Such a great video with lots of useful information. I was searching for another camera which could compete with the zv-e10. This video made me choose zv-e10 over the r50. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for such an amazing Comparison video, I appriciate the mention of release dates of both the camera and how well the pros and cons have been highlighted. Amazing video
Amazing Video. Clear and very direct to the point. For me, as a Videographer, the Zve-10 wins with Unlimited Video Shooting Time, same situation definitely happened to me.
The EVF is so so so important. The simplicity of the R50 also super important especially for someone who will not remember all the confusing menu options of the Sony. The R50 is more like a professional point and shoot. Most people looking at these priced cameras aren’t looking for an array of lenses to switch all the time. The R50 is so light and tiny that a selfie stick will get you the distance needed for stabilized vlogging with the kit lens. This seems perfect for someone who simply wants an EDC camera. If it’s too complicated then you will simply not bring it which is why the R50 is the perfect choice.
Canon also has the R10 and the R7 for the crop bodies. So this makes a total of 3. Not bad. But their FF is now much cheaper than it use to be with the brand new R8 being $1500 and the R and RP still for sale as well even cheaper.
I arrived late but… ZV-E10 performed better because Sony has the smallest distance between the sensor and the lens mount. I believe its called flange distance. The shorter flange distance makes light travel more directly to the sensor, therefore making the image look less noisy
@@thefilmalliance I choosed ZV-E10, because i thik is better for me. Because the microphone and the auto focus mostly. And I would like to use it more for video. But if I wanted a camera more focused on photos, but that also gave me a video function. I would probably go with the canon r50.
I have watched several videos camparing canon R50 and Sony ZV-E10 , over all sony is better but i can not get over the quality and colors of canon! They look so much better than sony! Is there a way to fix this problem on sony cameras? Also i have noticed that in normal light canon cameras have a much less noise than sony!!
Great comparison! I own a Sony zve10 and have been the fence on getting the canon R50 however after buying a Sony 50mm f1.8 lens, I am sticking to my Sony.
It’s surprising to see such a limited selection of lenses shown for the Canon R50 while showcasing a vast lineup for the Sony ZV-E10. Canon actually has a great variety of options for RF-mount cameras, both native and third-party. For example, the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8 is available for only around €650, and there’s no comparable telephoto zoom at this price point for the Sony ZV-E10’s E-mount. Canon users also have access to third-party options from brands like Sigma, Tamron, and Viltrox. Sigma offers lenses like the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN (around €450) and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN (around €400), both providing high quality and competitive prices. Tamron has its own line of zooms, such as the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD, which costs around €800 due to its constant f/2.8 aperture and built-in image stabilization, making it excellent for low light and video work. Viltrox also supports the RF mount, offering affordable prime lenses like the Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 RF for around €380 and the Viltrox 50mm f/1.8 RF for around €250, which provide excellent value for portrait and general photography. Given these options, the Canon ecosystem offers plenty of versatility and competitive pricing, and the lens selection is actually quite rich and affordable for RF-mount cameras, making this comparison seem quite incomplete.
Which lenses do you use for the R50? I’m planning on buying the R50 and I want to take pictures for my brand (fashion). What you’ll you recommend? Thanks in advance💕
If you purchase the Canon EF-EOS R adapter, which is quite affordable, you can mount any EF-S lenses to the R50. This significantly expands the range of compatible lenses. Therefore, I disagree with the notion of a limited lens selection.
After a ton of research I got the ZV-E10 just because it was the only camera available at my local store and I didn't want to wait any longer to shoot. Best Camera I've ever used! Power Zoom button, Digital Zoom without losing 4k, all the ports, charging and stream with usb. Colors on my Canon RP are better, but overall this Canon-Stuff feels like Garbage compared.
I’ve seen so many of these videos and they talk about everything EXCEPT the image quality with the kit lens vs a newer digit camera phone. I got the rebelt7 some years ago and returned it because my iPhone 10 got crisper better photos.

I mainly shoot flower n foliage photos as a hobby. I prefer the electronic view finder on the Canon R50 over the Sony ZV-E10. But I am actually saving up for the Canon R100. I currently own and use a Canon 5D Mark III, and a Canon Rebel T7. The R100 will be my first mirrorless camera and my first brand new camera as I have purchased as all my previous mentioned camera's I bought used.
If your going to remain in the Canon eco-system. I’d strongly recommend saving a little more and instead pick up the R50 or the R10. The R100 is a really stripped down M50, it works good but there’s a better option for just a little more. The R50 or R10 would be much more worthwhile purchase, you can still pick up an adapter and use your current collection of glass to use with the camera. As an M50 owner, I just wanted to let you know what it is your getting with an R100.

@@cashmoney2159 this is just my perspective, but the Sony ZV-E10 and the Nikon Z30 would be hands down better picks than the R100 as camera choices. But I'd give the edge to the Sony ZV-E10, for the wider selection of glass available today. Compared to the R100, you can't lose if you go with either Sony or Nikon. Just go with whichever is the better priced. If you choose the R100 due to cost, please I encourage that you just save a little more for a better over all camera.

Good points. Although you can get an RF to EF mount adapter for $99. Which opens up the door to a lot more lenses and some cheaper lenses. From what I've seen, the RF-EF adapter works very well with the RF mount. So, there is that. Personally, I've been thinking about an "extra" camera for just shooting RUclips videos and quick vlogs. And the Canon R50 and the Sony ZV-E10 fall into that category quite well. But, to be honest, I've been holding out because the new ZV-E1 by Sony looks pretty dope. Great comparison as usual. Keep up the great content. Cheers.
@@Cyphon True. Although I didn't mention it, I have been thinking of the ZV-E1 as a camera to upgrade to as opposed to a camera for RUclips or vlogging. I'm still thinking of the Canon R50 as a YT camera, and because Canon has some of the best skin tones in the business.
Excellent comparison! In this part of the world where I am living now, canon cameras are popular but Sony has already captured the market. Canon R50 is an excellent choice but it is not available here. I finally made a decision to buy one, but, I will import it from Australia.
Sony does better in low light because Canon's APS-C sensor is smaller than Sony's, Nikon's, Pentax etc. They do have the same names - APS-C - but Canon's... for whatever reason... is smaller
The ZV-E10 seems to be more what I need and based on your video seems like its the one. The more research I do the more I want to just jump on the FX30 cause then I can stick with that for much longer time as it will be more pro and take me further. I do weddings as I just started 2 months ago and did 5 weddings with my iphone 11 and a gimble. Fx30 is what i really want but double the price than the zve10 so its such a battle but it would be my very first camera. So hard to choose as I have watched many of your videos and others to figure out what makes most sense and if i should just take the leap and get the fx30. Definitely more drawn to Sony for a few reasons.
If you are a flash photographer. Are you aware the R50 hotshoe does not have the 5 pins to work with Canon, Yongnuo, Godox EX 5 pin flashes - triggers? You need to purchase an extra adapter AD-E1 which by the way is not too much available in the market.
Yes, the 'Canon problem'. Very nice bodies generally speaking, but lenses are a problem. Particularly for APS-C. The R50 pretty much requires use of EF-S lenses with the adapter to have anything close to a viable lineup, particularly in wider FLs used for video. I have the R7 primarily as a birding camera and so am interested in the R50 as a backup/hybrid/video body. I strongly suspect that the 'Film Alliance' audience would be better served by the Sony in most cases, though.
Why isn’t there a point and shoot camera with an APS C sensor, and a retractable zoom lens, like a sony zv 1 but with an APS C sized sensor? I looked everywhere but i havent see of such a roduct
The thing that sets the Sony apart for me is the stabilisation using Catalyst Browse after the fact. It's just soo good. Also the lenses. Cannon just doesn't really care about APS-C. Sony has more choice and faster glass from both itself and third parties.
Your review of the Canon R50 missed some key advantages of this camera, especially regarding lenses and focusing features that make it a highly versatile and budget-friendly choice over comparable models. First, with the Canon R50, you’re not limited to Canon's lenses alone. It’s compatible with a variety of lenses from third-party brands like Sigma, Tamron, Samyang, and Viltrox, providing significantly more flexibility than you've mentioned. For example, you can get a 100-400mm telephoto lens for just around $650, which is an exceptional value for achieving long focal lengths, without sacrificing optical quality. Additionally, the Canon R50 has standout features like focus bracketing, which allows for both front and back focus points in a single shot-ideal for achieving sharp images across multiple focal planes, especially in macro and landscape photography. Its viewfinder also enables precise manual focus, helping you capture accurate details in low-light conditions where autofocus may struggle. Plus, the built-in flash adds convenience, removing the need to carry extra gear in various shooting scenarios. In short, when you consider the range of affordable telephoto and prime lenses available (which you missed), along with advanced focusing and easy-to-use features, menus, grip, 10 bit color, and mostly that annoying image crop at Sony, the Canon R50 presents a compelling choice for both new photographers and enthusiasts on a budget, especially compared to options from Sony at this price point. So, your review was biased and a bit erroneous (lenses options).

wow blown away by your video and the detailed bio. Thank you! I will indeed subscribe and I look forward to learning from you.
Awesome, thank you!
This is soooo good!! The cameras are great, but I think I’d rather buy a film alliance course on editing!!

Green! Canon has better quality but the Sony better selection and better priced lenses! Oh my which way should I go for vlogging?😮😮😮😮😮
@davidpoo6 11:24 😮🎉I hope you found one!
I just bought the 50 and 😮i am trying to learn how it works
Lol the Johnny Harris video style parody at the beginning (that is what you were going for, right?) literally started laughing at my desk
Aps-C sensors are different on Canon. They are a bit smaller, that’s why crop on Canon Aps C camaras is 1.6x and not 1.5x. Maybe that is the reason why the ZV e10 is better in low light.
You are smarter than me. Thank you for replying to that question. It makes total sense. I was confused.
No crop
but, AF on R50 way much better
no i think sony is better in low light because the image is less contrasty
No one talked about iso and dynamic ranges @@diegoskt5

Excellent review ❤
After watching soooo many, this is the best versus report.
Thanks for the really detailed review! I bought the R50 even though it has less lenses. I work around that buying an EF to RF adapter 😊
It’s such mind blowing comparison video . Keep it up for a good work 🎉
Wow! Such much great details
And research! As a beginner, this was a bit hard for me to follow. But I still took so much from it! Thank you 🎉
Fantastic video mate! The Canon has an RF 16mm f2.8 for vlogging but you’re right about the lens selection. It’s limited
Oh thanks for letting me know. Wait, do you have the R50?
@@thefilmalliance nah I got the R10 😊 great camera but also has its limitations. Will be buying the R8 to get the full frame option as well 😁
If the problem is the availability of lenses for the R50, here is the solution: just buy a Canon EF to Canon RF adapter...
People are so worried anout specs. in the right hands any camera can produce stunning content.
Such a great video with lots of useful information. I was searching for another camera which could compete with the zv-e10. This video made me choose zv-e10 over the r50. Thank you for your help.
Planning to buy r50 for photography. Hope you will create a tutorial for how to choose best lenses and their use cases and hopefully editing too. Great comparison video. Greetings from Philippines.❤
Hi, did you get the r50? How are you getting on with it?
I'm on the same boat ❤
Perfect video i have been struggling to decide on my first camera for my youtube channel

Thank you for such an amazing Comparison video, I appriciate the mention of release dates of both the camera and how well the pros and cons have been highlighted. Amazing video
Thank you for that
Thank you so much, now I'm going for the R50.
Great choice, it's a fantastic camera.
Your reviews are amazing! Thank you
Yes, its cool how we are all in the same boat learning as we go. Thanks for the comment.
Amazing Video. Clear and very direct to the point. For me, as a Videographer, the Zve-10 wins with Unlimited Video Shooting Time, same situation definitely happened to me.
wow super great video. Love the comparison run down and animation.
Thanks!
You’ve really hit the nail on the head with all of that. I agree, this R50 is going to be the camera for a lot of people. Thanks Bob
You are amazing and so helpful, professional! Thanks so much for the analysis . R50 locked

Hey Gary, Its cool how we are all in the same boat learning as we go.
I got ZV-E10 and it has been an amazing camera for me!
That’s great, me as well
Excellent comparison. I'm glad Sony and canon haven't given up on APS-C sensor cameras .
Yes I can’t agree more. Thank you for all of the encouragement.

Canon also has the R10 and the R7 for the crop bodies. So this makes a total of 3. Not bad. But their FF is now much cheaper than it use to be with the brand new R8 being $1500 and the R and RP still for sale as well even cheaper.
Thanks for this video! Great comparison!
Glad you liked it!
Which one should I get for taking online classes live & recorded? Please suggest me. Thank you from Bangladesh.
Think the R50 for stills and EV10 for vlogging , streaming . Spent today testing both
Yes I agree, thanks for sharing your experience
I arrived late but…
ZV-E10 performed better because Sony has the smallest distance between the sensor and the lens mount.
I believe its called flange distance. The shorter flange distance makes light travel more directly to the sensor, therefore making the image look less noisy
WOW how did you learn all of that? Your knowledge is incredible!
Thank you
Impresionado con la calidad de tu contenido, la verdad. hay youtubers de 1 millon de seguidores que no tienen ni la mitad de calidad que tus vídeos. 👏
That's nice of you thanks. What camera did you end up liking more?
@@thefilmalliance I choosed ZV-E10, because i thik is better for me. Because the microphone and the auto focus mostly. And I would like to use it more for video. But if I wanted a camera more focused on photos, but that also gave me a video function. I would probably go with the canon r50.
Great video - both excellent cameras.
Thanks, yes they are. Definitely a hard decision between the two.
For me it was an easy choice beacause I already own a Canon 60D with 5-6 lenses, so an R50 WITH an adapter för EF/EF-S lenses was the best choice.
Thank you. Which camera did you end up going with?
I can see your efforts behind the scenes 😊❤
thanks for clearning my confusion
This deserves million views come on, new subscriber here watching from Philippines, your videos are amazing and you put so much effort on all your videos ❤loveyaaaahhh
I'll pick the R50 because if you want a hybrid camera R50 plus the viewfinder on the Sony isn't all that great in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing, do you have it?
@@thefilmalliance yeah, I'm currently renting a R50 at the moment
@@plhilmar1bro in India R50 is 200$ more expensive than a R100, i thought R50 is a higher variant lol thanks for the recommendation. Btw I need a camera for shooting indoor Podcasts so tell me which amongst sony Zev 10 , R100 and Nikon Z30 would be a better pick?
@@cashmoney2159 this is just my perspective, but the Sony ZV-E10 and the Nikon Z30 would be hands down better picks than the R100 as camera choices. But I'd give the edge to the Sony ZV-E10, for the wider selection of glass available today. Compared to the R100, you can't lose if you go with either Sony or Nikon. Just go with whichever is the better priced. If you choose the R100 due to cost, please I encourage that you just save a little more for a better over all camera.
@@plhilmar1 okay and do you know anything about the resale value of a Sony cam or a Nikon one? Will Sony receive a premium in the used marketplace?
@@cashmoney2159 I know that in the states the Sony cameras tend to hold their value relatively well on the second hand market. To be honest, I don’t follow the second hand market too much, so my info on that is very limited.
Thanks! You gave some very important details that no one else has done! I am torn. I like the Canon r50 better overall and even with less lenses I may still do that... or hold off.

I have been looking at many tutorials comparing cameras and in my conclusion I recommend to purchase a camera brand that you can effort and one that you have been familiar with. I’m a Canon user and I’m happy to be able to purchase the R50 camera that has replaced my old M50😅😊😊
I won’t lie I’m looking for Sony alternatives but something Sony will always have over a lot of cameras is how good it does in low light
Cheers.
Yes the new Zve1 does sound cool. Which one did you choose between the 2? Thanks so much for the encouragement?
well that's a huge price difference lmao because a ZV-e10 will do you great for about $800 with a proper lens while a zv-e1 is almost 3x that price
That’s 3 times the cost
@@Cyphon True. Although I didn't mention it, I have been thinking of the ZV-E1 as a camera to upgrade to as opposed to a camera for RUclips or vlogging. I'm still thinking of the Canon R50 as a YT camera, and because Canon has some of the best skin tones in the business.
Excellent comparison! In this part of the world where I am living now, canon cameras are popular but Sony has already captured the market. Canon R50 is an excellent choice but it is not available here. I finally made a decision to buy one, but, I will import it from Australia.
That is so exciting. Please tell me what you think about it when you get it. How long will it take to ship?
Which is better at photography?
And is the lens that came with the camera enough to take pictures please reply and thank you
R50 would be better for photography IMO. And for your second question, yes for the R50 and no for ZVE10.
@@thefilmallianceWhich is better at photographing pictures and not video ❤
Nobody can’t go wrong with the colors on canon, , for me. Canon on photos and sony for videos. Are u agree?
Sony does better in low light because Canon's APS-C sensor is smaller than Sony's, Nikon's, Pentax etc. They do have the same names - APS-C - but Canon's... for whatever reason... is smaller
Ahaa thank you for this
Im going with the R50 cause I dont care that much about video. This video was very helpfull!
Good choice!
this video deserves more likes
Thanks so much. That is very nice.
Exactly the video i needed! Was literally gonna search for this and it popped up for me haha.
That's funny. So what did you decide on?
Canon color 👍👍👍,
I now have a zv e 10, but I prefer the colors from the R50.
Yes the R50 colors are great. Would you ever consider picking one up?
what do you think if you already have zv e 10?, whether to throw zv e 10 and take R 50?,
Well, do you have any Sony lenses?
No, I don't have a Sony lens.
I personally would go with R50. What do you think?
If you are a flash photographer. Are you aware the R50 hotshoe does not have the 5 pins to work with Canon, Yongnuo, Godox EX 5 pin flashes - triggers? You need to purchase an extra adapter AD-E1 which by the way is not too much available in the market.
Commenting for the algorithm, great quality vid

Which two cameras would you like to see compared next?
8:54 aren't Sony aps c sensor bigger since the crop factor is x1.5 instead of 1.6?
You are correct. It is slightly bigger. What camera did you end up liking more?
Yes, the 'Canon problem'. Very nice bodies generally speaking, but lenses are a problem. Particularly for APS-C. The R50 pretty much requires use of EF-S lenses with the adapter to have anything close to a viable lineup, particularly in wider FLs used for video. I have the R7 primarily as a birding camera and so am interested in the R50 as a backup/hybrid/video body. I strongly suspect that the 'Film Alliance' audience would be better served by the Sony in most cases, though.
Yes, I noticed that too. All of my followers are hard Sony fans so I dont think that I will be switching over anytime soon.
This is 100% false
Why isn’t there a point and shoot camera with an APS C sensor, and a retractable zoom lens, like a sony zv 1 but with an APS C sized sensor? I looked everywhere but i havent see of such a roduct

Hey there, I did one, have you seen it?
@@thefilmalliance yes I later saw that. You prefer E10 II cz better specs and newer release, so the price bump is justified.
Thanks for your response.

Do they both have a built-in flash?
