Glad Canon FINALLY fixed the issues that the M50 had! 📸 Which camera would you rather have??
Thanks for this review. I understand that the comparison was for video, but as a hybrid camera, I would miss the viewfinder on the Sony when taking pictures.
My wife also really likes having a viewfinder because she takes pictures. I’ve always used the rear screen for pictures so I don’t notice a difference, and I like the smaller form factor of it (since I travel a lot).
You forgot to talk about 10 bit images from canon. For me is too important feature for filmmaking
Getting a camera for its 10-bit capability over 8-bit isn’t really worth it to me. Most people don’t even know what that does/means, and unless you’re doing serious color grading for a movie, it’s not going to matter in most cases.
canon has noise reduction in their cameras and you have to tune it if you want it high or low.
the canon r50 has 10bit HDR pq video which is better than log for grading
the sony zve10 crops in 4k30p, the canon r50 does not crop in 4k30p which is good.
the smooth dolly zoom without losing focus is because the new canon cameras and lenses have focus breathing compensation
canon screens are much more usable outdoors as they are brighter and clearer.
for video only they are close with an edge to the sony zve10, with access to wide angle lenses with good aperture that are small.
for a hybrid user photo and video the canon r50 is the right choice as you get viewfinder which is essential for photography outdoors in the sun, and inbuilt flash, a better screen.
👍
Thanks bro ❤
Thanks for this.
I will buy R50, because of crop, viewfinder and screen, and because you can find an awsome tele lenses, RF 100-400 USM mm at 600 $.
And now I can find Tamron and Sigma for Canon.
@@inlumina_punctro good choice
👍
I can’t decide which one is better for me. Will shoot short video interviews on expos, so the audio is important as well, but also food photography.
I like the ZV-E10. Doesn’t really matter what kind of videos. Both cameras have external audio ports so you can use mics.
the R50 HAVE HDR PQ for log profile, and that is something that improves dynamic range
👍
I will buy R50, because of no crop thing, viewfinder and brighter screen, and because you can find an awsome tele lenses, RF 100-400 USM mm at 600 $.

I’ve got a 5 and 3 year old. Kids constantly on the move 😊 great info on both! I feel like I should be leaning toward the Sony? My daughter is in gymnastics, dance and tee-ball. Lots of fast movements but plenty of light normally. I’d like to be able to do videos on and off and could run into longer captures in between regular photos here and there. What would be quicker with me switching so much? Thank you again for all the detail in your video!
As far as switching between the two, I don’t think one is better than the other. It’s a simple click of a switch, but the Sony does have A LOT of customization available. And you can make separate customized buttons for when in photo mode vs video mode.
Hey great video I'm trying to get into sports videography. I want to catch that cinematic look, what cameras do you think would be the best choice?😊
The “cinematic look” doesn’t come from a certain camera. It’s more from good lenses & lighting. But it’ll depend on what your budget is?
Ok thank you for the information. I think I'm leaning towards the zv-e10
Its a good beginner cam.
I am not a pro in filmmaking or photography. I want a camera for filming, preferably more cinematic look out of the box, with very basic color correction. Auto focus, stabilization, auto exposure is important. which will be better? Sony or Canon?
I think Sony still has better video features than Canon.
But if you get the camera with the kit lens, it’s gonna be a lot more difficult to get that “cinematic” look out of camera because that comes a lot more from the type of lenses you use (among other factors like lighting, framing, camera movement).
Honestly they look very similar to me. Colors may be slightly different but Canon has definitely stepped up their game as far as clearer video is concerned
Glad to hear you say that. People always get stuck on “color science” or Canon, but really that’s the processing that’s done by the camera. If you film a canon and Sony camera with a log setting and do the coloring the same, they’ll look nearly identical.
@@CamberFilmSchool I use a Sony a6400 for video and the Canon looks very similar video wise in my opinion. They've definitely gotten better.
For sure!
Thank you! That was helpful! I've started a RUclips channel and filming on the rooftop with my iPhone 14Pro. It doesn't matter which time of the day I have - something is always wrong with contrast and exposure 😔 I am totally not happy with my video quality. So considering to buy a camera
Where is the sun relative to you when shooting your videos? In front, behind, or side? And are you using any apps to control the video so that you can keep it from using auto exposure changes?
@@CamberFilmSchool usually sun on my right side, behind the fence, or in front of me, also behind the fence in the morning (coz it is too bright for my eyes when it shows up). And nope, I'm not using any apps, just trying to correct a bit exposure manually in the phone before filming
@dianafitmoves you may want to try using an app like filmic pro. The problem with using the iPhone camera app is that you can touch where you want on the screen to initially get the exposure how you want, but after you start a video and move around in the frame, it’s going to mess up the exposure metering and probably end up in a way you won’t like.
@@CamberFilmSchool I've heard about Filmic Pro app, but didn't try it(( I'm waiting in my Sony Zv10 😂 will compare! Thank you for your advices✨
@dianafitmoves you’ll definitely like the quality of the Sony better! 😉
Both great cameras for the cost, i just hate Canon limited the RF mount lens options and recording time.
I hear ya on that one! Those RF lenses are expensive with not a whole lot of third party lenses available yet.
@@CamberFilmSchool Hey, I'm new to this ... I wonder if that will change in the future, either prices will get lower for existing lenses or Canon will allow third party companies to make lenses for this camera? thanks.
It’s not that other companies have to be “allowed” to make them, they just haven’t yet because it’s a newer system. The only way canon lens prices go down is when newer mark 2/3 versions come out and the originals get cheaper. If you’re doing video, Sony is the way to go.
@@CamberFilmSchool thanks, I'm leaning towards Sony, but I've come across comments where people are complaining about its autofocus, how good or bad do you think it is and can it be turned off?
@nikanikasept what camera are people saying has bad autofocus? I haven’t had a single Sony camera in the last 5 years with bad autofocus. And yes, autofocus can be turned off on pretty much any camera.
I'm still can't decide between the Zv-e10 and R 50, because R50 has 10-bit video but Zv-e10 has a lot of color profiles. I'm really looking forward to learn color grading and was hoping if r50 is worth it since it doesn't provide c-log and i personally think the Cinestyle feels like a gimmick.
i have a sony zv1 which also has alot of color profiles but in reality you would never use most of them only the log. the canon cinestyles and most of sony color profiles are equally gimmicks. comparing these both, its a tough choice, i would rather spring for the r10 or r8. then you get 4k60p in both. i have the canon r10, which has a viewfinder and i actually use the viewfinder for video which i didnt expect, because outdoor in the sun, these cameras screen are not the best. the zve10 screen is the worst tho.
@@truthseeker6804 yeah zv screen is very cheap. and currently I'm a little tight on the budget. since you have some experience, what do you think is better when it comes to color grading capabilities?
-the r50 with 10 bit with HDR PQ
-or zv e10 with 8 bit but log profiles?
@@MagnumSpydyrIN what are you using the camera for mainly?
@@truthseeker6804 I plan to create mini cinematic videos and short films.
@@MagnumSpydyrIN i would be fair to both.
cinematic videos are mostly in slow motion, so you would need 60p or 120p, both dont do 4k60p, so you would be in 1080p and sony zve10 1080p is horrible, r50 1080p is better.
but zve10 log would provide slightly more dynamic range, than hdr but hdr pq is almost like a finished worked and its 10bit.
The canon digital in camera stabilization crops in a tiny amount 1.1x, the sony zve10 crops in 1.4x, and the digital stabilization isnt as good. but the sony has the ability to use catalyst browse which is a software stabilization on computer, takes alot of time to export video, but provides the smoothest video with adjustable crop.
for what you want, i would go for the canon r50. mainly because, the sony 1080p isnt as good, and the crop is extreme. i would recommend if you can, wait for sony zve10 v2, which is coming in some months time and uses the a6700 sensor, which provides 4k60 and 4k120p, which would be more useful for cinematic videos. if you cant wait, then honestly its between the r50 and r10 which has 4k60p.
if you were only doing streaming or if you only needed 4k24p, then the zve10 would be fine.
Hi man, great comparison thanks!
I want to film in studio guitar and singing covers for RUclips and other social media networks, which camera is best for that in terms of video quality, better colours, etc..?
It depends on what your budget is.
Hey, i like wanna buy a camera just for my hobby and likong towards photography. I won't buy any lens any near future.
Having viewfinder in canon , I'm thinking to buy it. Whatd you suggest. Sony zv e10 or canon r50. Travelling, basic daily life photography
If you like the viewfinder then the R50 probably be a good choice.
Kudos to the Pregnant Camera Woman Also Congradulations good sir.
Thx!
Are these test done with 4k? Does the autofocus slow down with 4k vs 1080?
Yea they’re done with 4K. The AF works the same on both 4K & FHD on both these cameras. I was pointing out in the video that the 4K AF on the M50 is terrible, but it does work fine on FHD on that camera.
@CamberFilmSchool the auto focus is different on r50 in 4k it doesn't use dual pixels auto focus you have to be in 1080p actually. That's why there is focus hunting on the r50 in 4k which what you are filming at use phase detection autopgocus which is not as good on the canon.
Still works WAY better in 4K than the M50 did.
Which camera is better for shooting video for RUclips in a studio Canon R10 or Sony ZF-E10-Mark II?
I think the Sony cameras have better video features.
for online class recording in studio, which camera is better ?
I’d still go for the Sony.
hello, I'm torn between two cameras and I need your help. Canon EOS R50? Or Sony Alpha ZV-E10L? What will I use it for? I will shoot both day and evening during camping shoots, I will also shoot videos with DJI RS 3 Mini so that there is no shake, I will also shoot drinks and food in cafes, I will buy it for my work. I don't know which one will be more useful to me.
I prefer Sony cameras to Canon. Most of them have better video features. And after shooting with the R50, I like using the ZV-E10 better as well.
Sir, I am planning to create documentary-style videos that include content about foods, traditional secrets, and interviews with people. Additionally, I need to capture high-quality photos. Given that I am not a beginner and have used the Nikon D5600 DSLR for the past four years, could you please suggest a camera that would be suitable for these purposes? Sir please give reply.
Sir, before watching this video, my preference was the Sony a6100Y. Is that a good choice for the features I mentioned? Could you provide a corrected or better version of this?
What is your budget for camera/lens/audio?
@@CamberFilmSchool Sir, my total budget for all of these is 100,000 Indian rupees. I don't know its value in dollars.
@@CamberFilmSchool sir please give a reply. 🥹
I’d go with the ZV-E10 and a Sony ECM-B10 mic.
Im really just trying to figure out if I need to buy a new camera. can i record 4k@ 24fps on my Canon M50 and just put it on a 30fps timeline?
Why do you want a 30 fps timeline?
@@CamberFilmSchool Because Camtasia Studio doesn't let you create a 24fps timeline. it does have a 25fps option. IDK why its like That... Do you think I should just use 25fps timeline? Also, because that AF issue, should i just shoot 1080p and upscale it to 4k with Davinci?
@BleepingWorld if you shoot in 1080 then just edit and export as 1080. Upscaling it to 4K isn’t going to make it better, and it may actually decrease the quality because you’re stretching out your footage.
@@CamberFilmSchool stretching? thats the first time ive heard that. Have you used Davinci AI super scale?
@BleepingWorld I guess expanding would be a better turn. 4K is 4 times the size of 1080p. So you’re literally stretching the image 4x in order to scale it to 4K.
For both photography and videography which one better
It depends on if you want an EVF for taking pictures. I think the ZV-E10 is better for video, and I use the touchscreen for photos. But some people like looking into the little EVF for pictures. Both cameras will give you the same photo quality though.
Hey bro which camera is better for hypred user , mostly for photos
I prefer the ZV-E10. However, if having an EVF is important to you, then go for the Canon.
@@CamberFilmSchoolwhat about 8bit in zve10
You likely won’t notice any difference between. 8-bit & 10-bit. And even then, only if you’re shooting RAW which neither of these cameras can do.
Sony ZV-E10 mark 2 vs Canon R50 for for content greator
I’d go with Sony.
@@CamberFilmSchool what about sony or iphone 16 pro max
@Mi-Azar you’re going to get better quality out of an interchangeable lens camera than a cell phone.
Which would be better for videos only and filming outdoors activities?
I’d go with the ZV-E10. It has better video features, but the type of camera doesn’t really matter for outdoor activities. You’ll want to get some ND filters for your lens for that.
What about Nikon z30 ?
What’s its max bitrate?
It's only for Sony Camera promotion contract
😂 I wish! I pay for ALL my Sony products just like I paid for ALL my Canon products I used to use.
Which one produces better quality photos- Canon R50 or Sony ZV-E10?
They’re likely pretty much the same. The lens you use is going to make WAY more of a difference than the camera.
R50 is best in Street photography and landscape with rf35mm F1.8
Which one will be best for photography??? R50 or ZV-E10
Depends on whether you like having a EVF. Either camera will give you similar results. It’s the lens that’ll make a bigger difference.
R50 is the best in Street and landscape photos with rf35mm f1.8
Why is that?
ZV-E10 PROS
long recording time
lot of lenses out there and with a good price
R50 PROS
newer so is most recent technology
better color science (for me HDR PQ LOG is amazing! it give you very natural colors, for me is superior than CLOG)
both are 6k cameras but the r50 really looks sharper, probably because the CPU is just better, at the end is newer technology
Cheaper, just like newer technology you get more for less money
NOT SURE PROS R50
in the comparison you did you can see better dynamic range in the r50, you can notice better details in the clouds but this can be just because there is different exposure settings on both cameras
my advice go for newer technology unless you need to record sports events or podcasts, then go for sony
One of the biggest annoyances to me with Canon cameras is that they still don't let you change the metering mode when in video mode (unless there was a recent software update). And the "color science" thing has always made me laugh. If you're going to go with whatever is straight out of camera then I guess that can make a difference, but that's basically just the camera color correcting/grading your footage for you when filming. If you shoot in C-LOG or S-LOG, you should be getting pretty much the same thing that you'll then be grading yourself.
In the end, if you know what you're doing, you can make either camera look good.
