I’m confused in choosing between these two camera I always go back and forth. Does Sony have better lens options? Should I take that into consideration? Any camera I pick will be with me for a long long time. Which should I choose
Sony has by far the better selection and that is very important. Canon has actually zero lenses for this camera besides the kit lens. So you’re forced to buy a adapter and use a lens from the EF mount. This camera could be excellent if there were lenses available, but there are not, so you will either have to wait for lenses to be made by canon or go with Sony. I think Sony is the way to go right now.
You are the best unique content creator I've ever seen, besides of benign so subjective when reviewing and always using examples to make everything clear we wish you the best form Iraq🌷🌷🌷🌷
after seeing much of your videos on the canon r10 and Zv-e10 I think I'll stay with the latter, although I have the batteries of the R10 and some canon lenses, after several disagreements with canon simple things are always left for their more expensive cameras something that does not happen with sony or fuji or any other, even so I keep my canon m5 for photography, a canon camera is never a waste for photography, but in video it does not perform for simple jobs without giving a lot of battle. Thanks for your analysis, they are really good and very entertaining.
The Canon is better for photos and a better user experience and you haven’t used either camera. Sony is the better ecosystem but if you aren’t buying lenses - I guess that won’t matter. Without nice lenses though - you may find your results not satisfactory in the long run
only shooting Emirate will enable you to change white balance in post properly. 10-but is nice for colour grading, but you will still see poor results of your white balance is off
I got one r10 for 650 bucks kit lens included... And having ef lenses is just a matter of getting the adaptor .... Speedbooster makes the 1.6 crop less big and gives you an extra stop of light...
What lens do you think is good for the r10? ...... is it hard getting lens for the r10?..... I just start getting into camera....so i don't know anything.....can you please help me out!?
Unfortunately - there aren't a lot of lenses available besides the lens that comes with the camera. I think your best bet is the full frame 16mm 2.8 RF, the 35mm 1.8 RF and the 50mm 1.8. Other than that - you can buy an adapter from Canon and buy some EF lenses.
You are the only one who made many videos for zve10… Thank you so much..! I was actually trying to compare eos r10 and zv e10 last night… To be honest I couldn’t find any videos.. Now When I opened YT you showed up with great content! I am definitely going to buy zv-e10 however, I am totally new to photography so I am not sure how to choose lens…. This is going to be my 1st camera…. My only concern now is should I stick to kit lens or should I buy 3rd party lens…. ? Any suggestions would be really helpful…. Thanks again for what you do!
skip the kit lens and get the Sigma 18-50 2.8 for general travel and video and get the sigma 56 1.4 for the candid wedding shots. it will give you that super blurry background for head and shoulder shots. That’s my starting recommendation for you. That will cover you for a lot.
Thank for Your videos. I subscribed for great content. I have one more question ⁉️ When I use only modes in cameras without color grading later, Can I have colors in Sony almost so good as in Cannon?
Thanks for the great comparison! I always enjoy your videos. I’m leaning towards the ZV-e10. I have a Cannon G7x but would like to get a camera that can do more without breaking the bank.
I think Sony A6400 will be a better and more accurate comparison with Canon R10. They are almost equally priced and have almost similar specifications. Will like to see a comparison between the two. From the surface, it looks like we finally have the A6400 killer in the market.
if it had some lenses - for sure. electric stabilization, 10bit hdr, faster burst rate, better screen. but unfortunately the lenses aren’t there. The zv-10 has advantages for video Vs the a6400 because it has estabilization, flip out screen and better colour science.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I just got Sony A6400 a couple of months ago. Please reassure me how I didn't make a bad call. Because ever since I came to know about the new Canon R10, I'm dying from inside. 😭
Great (indirect) Panny review, both rock for video! Trying not to spend money on another camera, but this comparison between the Sony and Canon is making it very hard. Love Canon, but not allowing third party lenses has turned me off. The ZV E10 and a sigma lens is studio gold! Maybe the Viltrox 13 or ?? for vlogging.
Thank you for this in depth review. For me it is a deal breaker that the display turns black on Canon R10 when adding extra monitor. I intend to capture from the HDMI output and use the camera for streaming. Seems like the Sony ZV-E10 is the better option in that use case.
One more Canon con: Canon do not allow 3rd party lenses. RF-S lenses are just remake of the EF-M lenses. Don't expect high quality large aperture RF-S lenses any time soon. I got these from Mark Weimers.
Hi Mark, I am torn between the ZV-E10 and the R10 (SURPRISE haha) I am looking to upgrade to a camera which shoots 4k, right now I have been shooting 1080p 30fps on the Canon M50 ii and upscaling. I just sold the M50 ii and need to replace it. I have always been with Canon and the lack of lenses is a frustration but not the end of the world with the adapter. I have a travel vlog so wide lens is important, as is stabilsation, although I do stabilise in post. I was thinking zv e10 with the Sony 11mm or Canon r10 with 10-18mm (and adapter until a native lens comes out) but cannot decide which is better investment for now and upgrade pathway. You know as soon as I decide and buy Canon will announce and release the R100 as a competitor for the zv e10 haha. I know you lean towards the ZV E10, but if we said I was okay to make do with a non native lens for now...to remove that concern, which would you be choosing?
I think if you liked the M50, the r10 would probably be the way to go. You’ll have a much better version of the M50 basically. It’s a really great camera as long as you can get the lenses you want. And Canon has a great upgrade path available too
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I’m not wedded to Canon, just familiar with it. I keep hearing Sony is better for video/vlogging. Since I’d be buying a new camera and lens I’m happy to go down the best path available to be honest as I wouldn’t have any existing equipment to push me either way.
Hello, I'm from Brazil, and I have a question for you? Please. You showed in the video that when filming in fast motion, the Rolling shutter is very evident in 4K; does it also happen when recording in full HD? I bought the Canon R10.
which one to choose from sony e10 vs nikon z30 vs canon r10 vs upcoming r50? primarily for landscape photography and zoom kit lens capabilities; type c is must for me, any other recommendations are welcomed.. please help
And size and weight! Canon delivered a great product but it's clearly bigger and weights slightly more: 429 g (15.1 oz) vs 364 g (12.8 oz) by Sony. For me, this an important issue.
I stopped using S&Q in ZVE10 and started slowing down 120 fps in Davinci. Looks way better. Is it normal for this footage to look dark? I’m guessing less light coming in? I used 1/240 shutter speed and 2.8 aperture. I cranked up ISO a little to 800. Just curious. S&Q looked way worse
HI Mark, loving your channel. I'm been streaming lately, I want to improve my image, which of these 2 cameras would you recommend. It will be used for indoors only. Thanks!
Could we please have comparison between canon r50 va r10? I am thinking of buying my first ever camera and poor user interface on Sony is something I wont cope with. So going for canon with 50 mm prime. I am mostly looking to learn photography, may get some videos here and there. Please suggest which one should i get? Thanks.

Great video. I'm new and ordered an R10, but I'm not sure anymore if I'm getting the right camera (so many youtube videos pro and con). I'm taking an overseas trip and want to have the right camera for photography and video for architectural structures and portraits indoors and outdoors. Is the R10 the right choice for the job? Or should I be looking at something different. The R10 is within my budget so any recommendations must meet it's price range. Please help. Thank you
The R10 is a great camera and one of the best available at that price. The only issue is finding lenses you like because there are not many options unless you buy an adapter and use the EF glass
Where do you think the m50 mark ii sits? Does it even compare to the 2? I got an M50 maybe 8 months ago and have used it semi-regularly, the main reason is the limited lens support. I'm consider selling it for a zv e10 or another mirrorless for that reason alone.
There are a few lenses available that are good. The Sigma trio 16mm, 30mm and 56mm are the best in my opinion. But yes, the M50ii is part of the M-Mount and Canon seems to have ended that line. The M50ii can produce photos with similar quality to the Zv-E10 and R10, but the video features are much much better on the zv-e10 and R10
thank you for this video! I am deciding between the two still... The biggest factor I'm unsure of is the image stabilization. every review video I've watched for Sony ZV-E10 talks about it and some have questioned why they market it as a vlog camera when it's not great for vlogging when walking around talk to the camera. You mention Catalyst Browse. Is that free and could it also be used for the Cannon R10 if needed or only Sony products?
Catalyst browse is free and only for specific Sony cameras like the zv-e10. Check out my video on catalyst browse - I provide a free download sample of my footage so you can see how it worked on your computer
Thats fair mate, i do more drone footage and video for local stunt riders and drift crews and i want a cheapish set up that i can mount to my honda grom for on road videos 😅
You and me both, i just got a sony 6400 with all the bells and wissles and the ronan sc2 is the gimble im looking at using its just down to a good price stedyarm that isnt $800
Hey would like your opinion, i just bought a very lightly used canon r10 for $700 usd (a great price) but i like the zve10 a lot. This is my 1st camera and i plan to shoot videos mostly,( travels, birthdays, family reunions etc.) may get into photography also. Which camera is best in this situation canon r10 or sony zve10?
The r10 can be great but there are not a lot of lenses available. If you can get some good lenses (they will have to be full frame lenses) then it can be an outstanding camera for you
I think the Canon R7 is fantastic and probably the canon camera I would buy if I could find a few more lenses. Currently, because I do a lot of social media and interviews, I like fast wide lenses, and the R7 doesn’t have those. Fuji makes some really compelling options, but the autofocus isn’t as good. So if you can find the lenses you need with the R7 - it’s excellent. But I still can’t really recommend it for most until it gets some lenses in the lineup or you already own some EF lenses that you can adapt.
I have shortlisted R10 and Zv10 i need hybrid camera but first priority will be photography 60% .iam not going to invest on lenses if iam not considering the lens availability which you will recommend me to buy.
I’m just so happy to use my Sony ZV-E10. The 4K video quality is good and it’s not so bad for photography even no EVF. I got used to it after a month. I really want Viltrox 13mm f1.4 lens for it but I can’t afford it. I might get the Sigma 16mm f1.4 used lens for $285. I’m debating now, oh wait! I spent the money on iPhone 14 pro max. Damn! iPhone 14 pro max got me hard this time.
I finally got the money to buy my first camera for shooting and taking automotive photography, but I'm caught up between the ZVE-10 and the R10, the only thing that's holding me from getting the ZVE 10 is the soft 1080, I've heard that the R10 has sharper 1080, is it really that smooth?
Awesome comparison! I'm Guessing you're the only one to compare these two atm. I'm really digging the ibis in the Canon! Never was a fan of the catalyst browse, whatever lol. As far as walking/vlog style videos, I think I would prefer my iPhone 13 pro actually lol. But for any other style videos, I'm definitely liking the quality/look of the Canon. Biggest issues right now sadly, is they stopped allowing 3rd parties to make lenses for their rf mount. And considering they have barely any lenses for their crop sensor rf mount, they have really shot themselves in the perverbial foot, so to speak, on that one. Whereas Sony has now, the largest lens selection for their crop sensor AND full frame systems. So that to me becomes the hugest, scale tipping factor. Am I right?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis yup! Such a dumb move on Canons part. I have a feeling this will detrimentally hurt their sales. 3rd party lens companies LITERALLY saved Sonys ass, and now they're the kings of the camera world and have since developed their own amazing glass selection. Who would a saw that coming?! Canon is literally going the opposite direction!
For the most part you will not see rolling shutter problems with a gimbal, unless you are travelling fast (in a car let's say) or if you are filming fast objects (cyclists for example)
I have a huge request. Please don't forget 1080p 60fps while recording this type of videos, ok? There are really a lot of people who care about faster recordings in which 4k 25fps simply won't work. And I'd love to see how the hardware performs at 1080p and 50 or 60 fps. Because the prices of equipment recording in 4k 60fps without crop are very high.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ok thank u veru much. Last queation :D Fuji x-s10 or Eos R10 in 1080p 60fps :) I mean the detail of the recording, the amount of details. Overall, which one gives a nicer recording
Hi Mark! Thank you so much for this review. I've been recommended these two as I start out in the film production world. Which would you recommend? I LOVE the Black Magic Cinema 4K however I'm not there yet 😅
I would do the Sony because they really lean into video. So many great lenses and now with the FX30 are showing how serious they are about APS-C for film-making
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you for this! I've been. struggling to find a store that even has the Sony ZV-E10. Any other cameras you would suggest to someone like myself dipping their feet in cinematography
Next time, can I ask u for ZV E10 vs Lumix GX80/85 Cuz Lumix GX85 it's super cheap, around 400 USD, can record 4K and Ibis, but idk about image quality vs ZV E10
rolling shutter is a limitation of the processor and sensor. So it won’t be able to be fixed. so the best thing to do is use it on a tripod, gimbal or stabilize the footage in Catalyst browse. you won’t see much if any rolling shutter in those situations. As you see in my videos, if your movements aren’t jerks and you’re not filming fast objects like race cars, rolling shutter doesn’t have to be a problem. also, shooting in 1080 eliminates rolling shutter.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you for comprehensive answer. I think think to buy this camera and buy a gimbal as well. Highly likely DJI Ronin SC. But as I see in many tests, geometry distortion can be visible, so that's why I think to use 1080p. Given I watch films in 1080p. But one moment I worry, will be some problems with picture in 1080p or not. On RUclips I see some problems with picture / color in dark zones. But I don't see this problems in 4k on RUclips or in 1080p before upload.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis about fixing rolling shutter I mean to install more powerful processor. It could be a new camera, but hopefully not much more expensive. Given this rolling shutter is the only one big issue I see in Sony ZV-E10.
so in my opinion the best overall lens is the 18-50 sigma 2.8. great all purpose zoom lens. Getting the Sigma 1.4 trio is also a great ideas. The 16mm 1.4, the 30mm 1.4 and the 56mm 1.4. If you want super wide, the Sony 11 is fantastic. After that - you have everything really except for a telephoto. And Tamron makes some great ones

This camera could be excellent if there were lenses available, but there are not, so you will either have to wait for lenses to be made by canon or go with Sony. I think Sony is the way to go right now.
You are the best unique content creator I've ever seen, besides of benign so subjective when reviewing and always using examples to make everything clear
we wish you the best form Iraq🌷🌷🌷🌷
Thanks - I really appreciate that!!
after seeing much of your videos on the canon r10 and Zv-e10 I think I'll stay with the latter, although I have the batteries of the R10 and some canon lenses, after several disagreements with canon simple things are always left for their more expensive cameras something that does not happen with sony or fuji or any other, even so I keep my canon m5 for photography, a canon camera is never a waste for photography, but in video it does not perform for simple jobs without giving a lot of battle.
Thanks for your analysis, they are really good and very entertaining.
Thanks - glad the vids helped!!
Do a comparison between Canon R10 vs Sony ZV-E10 M2K
Nicely explained 👌 which do you recommend between R10 and Zv10 if iam not bothered about canons lens availability?
The Canon is better for photos and a better user experience and you haven’t used either camera. Sony is the better ecosystem but if you aren’t buying lenses - I guess that won’t matter. Without nice lenses though - you may find your results not satisfactory in the long run
About WB for video, R10 you can shoot 10bit and post you can change better.
only shooting Emirate will enable you to change white balance in post properly.
Your your videos are very helpful! Thank you!after your review I bought zv-e10 and 15mm 1.4 sony lens! This is just an incredible combo!
It really is!!
Thanks again for what you do!
what do you want to shoot?
I am interested to do travel photos, videos also wedding candid shots and clips!
skip the kit lens and get the Sigma 18-50 2.8 for general travel and video and get the sigma 56 1.4 for the candid wedding shots. it will give you that super blurry background for head and shoulder shots. That’s my starting recommendation for you. That will cover you for a lot.
Thank for Your videos. I subscribed for great content. I have one more question ⁉️ When I use only modes in cameras without color grading later, Can I have colors in Sony almost so good as in Cannon?
many people like the Sony colours as much as the canons in the newer Sony cameras. I really like the Sony colours even without color grading
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank You very much for fast reply. Your channel rocks👍
It was a really detailed review, but after all this explanation, I have only one budget for which decision is made.
Sounds like a plan!!
"I'm a professional, I'm a professional idiot" made my day XD
It's funny because it's true
Thank you for this in depth review. For me it is a deal breaker that the display turns black on Canon R10 when adding extra monitor. I intend to capture from the HDMI output and use the camera for streaming. Seems like the Sony ZV-E10 is the better option in that use case.
One more Canon con: Canon do not allow 3rd party lenses. RF-S lenses are just remake of the EF-M lenses. Don't expect high quality large aperture RF-S lenses any time soon. I got these from Mark Weimers.
yes - Mark is a friend of mine and I have to agree with him also.
Go for R10. Believe me.
Love these videos
Hello, I'm from Brazil, and I have a question for you? Please. You showed in the video that when filming in fast motion, the Rolling shutter
is very evident in 4K; does it also happen when recording in full HD? I bought the Canon R10.
it will be better in 1080 for sure
which one to choose from sony e10 vs nikon z30 vs canon r10 vs upcoming r50? primarily for landscape photography and zoom kit lens capabilities; type c is must for me, any other recommendations are welcomed.. please help
Can anyone explain to me what a leeminglut is and what the hlg3 means next to the kit lens on the manual studio zve10 test?
the LeemingLUT is a LUT you buy to apply to your footage (it gives you accurate colours). the hlg3 is the picture profile.
And size and weight! Canon delivered a great product but it's clearly bigger and weights slightly more: 429 g (15.1 oz) vs 364 g (12.8 oz) by Sony. For me, this an important issue.
tis true. Good point, Smaller cam for gimbals too - especially with the new tiny Sony lenses
Man, your sub count is flying!!!! Looks very good to my eyes watching My favorite Camera reviewer's gorgeous face is ruling...
haha. Thanks. Trying over here 🤣
I stopped using S&Q in ZVE10 and started slowing down 120 fps in Davinci. Looks way better. Is it normal for this footage to look dark? I’m guessing less light coming in? I used 1/240 shutter speed and 2.8 aperture. I cranked up ISO a little to 800. Just curious. S&Q looked way worse
Where do you get your music for your videos? I remember you mentioned it. Starts with Art? RUclips audio library is leaving me uninspired.
in the description of the video it’s there - Artlist. I also use Epidemic Sound, but Artlist mostly
HI Mark, loving your channel. I'm been streaming lately, I want to improve my image, which of these 2 cameras would you recommend. It will be used for indoors only. Thanks!
I think the zv-e10 is better for video and streaming

Hi Mark, can you do a review on Sony AX43A vs ZV-e10/R10? Thank you more power to your channel.
hi thank you for the review, I'd like to ask does ZV-E10 really can't record more than 15 minutes straight when it shuts down for overheating?
With the internal temp set to high - the zv-e10 can record for hours. I do it all the time
Thank you@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I read on B&H site that it overheats and simply shuts down.
Mark which is best Nikon z30 or sony zv-e10 for reels and shorts videos
Could we please have comparison between canon r50 va r10? I am thinking of buying my first ever camera and poor user interface on Sony is something I wont cope with. So going for canon with 50 mm prime. I am mostly looking to learn photography, may get some videos here and there. Please suggest which one should i get? Thanks.
Go with the R10 - the R50 autofocus struggles a bit.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks a ton for your help. Really appreciate it.
Hi Mark, so which is the best for photography?
I am a beginner and willing to purchase a camera. Which one would be better between cannon r10 and Sony zv-e10? Please suggest 🙏

haha - can’t stop talking about myself 🤣
what about the support for Magic Lantern on the r50?

Wanted to buy my first camrra but im confused. What do you suggest mark.Im into both photography and videography.Zve-10 or R10
The r10 would be good if you are ok with the kit lens. Canon does not have many lenses for the R10
Never disappoints asked for the video got it😍
I try 🤣
thank you for this video!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks will do!

If you can get some good lenses (they will have to be full frame lenses) then it can be an outstanding camera for you
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you the advice and helping a beginner make the right decision. For sure subscribed!
How do you think the R7 compares to similar cameras in its class? Do you think your recommendation changes at that price point
Thanks!! Great review 😊
I have shortlisted R10 and Zv10 i need hybrid camera but first priority will be photography 60% .iam not going to invest on lenses if iam not considering the lens availability which you will recommend me to buy.
I will be choosing body+18-150 lens which sony is costing more than canon.
The Canon will likely suit you better - evf for photos is nice - easier to use as well
Thank you. I appreciate your response.
Damn iPhone!!
I finally got the money to buy my first camera for shooting and taking automotive photography, but I'm caught up between the ZVE-10 and the R10, the only thing that's holding me from getting the ZVE 10 is the soft 1080, I've heard that the R10 has sharper 1080, is it really that smooth?
since I really want to shoot with the Viltrox trio or sigma trio, because it's cheap and great image quality, and the RFS line up is disappointing
I am also looking for photography and ocassional videography, which one you suggest now.which camera you bought finally.
Please suggest best lenses to shot video's on Sony EV 10... for you tube channel/ short films sir..🤚🤚
Sigma 16mm 1.4 and Sigma 30mm 1.4 👍
Another great video I will keep my new Sony zv e10. Although I hate the rolling shutter problem..
Have you done a comparison of the sony and Panasonic
I have some Panasonic in there yes.
Great work and put alot of effert to make it.
I would say sony is clear winner with picture quality, in my openion.
Am I right?
it is a huge factor for me certainly. I can’t find any lenses I want to use on the Canon APS-C and that’s why I currently don’t own one.
Sorry I was actually writing this while watching and, ofcourse you covered the lens issue at the end 👍🏽
Watching an informative video and hearing "Im a professional ...idiot" is priceless :) Thanks, Mark.
I speak the truth
Will buying gimbal will solve roller shutter issue with Sony zv E 10
For the most part you will not see rolling shutter problems with a gimbal, unless you are travelling fast (in a car let's say) or if you are filming fast objects (cyclists for example)
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis which gimbal do you suggest with Sony ZV-E10, I was looking Moza Mini P Max
I have a huge request. Please don't forget 1080p 60fps while recording this type of videos, ok? There are really a lot of people who care about faster recordings in which 4k 25fps simply won't work. And I'd love to see how the hardware performs at 1080p and 50 or 60 fps. Because the prices of equipment recording in 4k 60fps without crop are very high.
the r10 will be a better bet in this case. the 1080 on the Sony’s is not the best
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ok thank u veru much. Last queation :D Fuji x-s10 or Eos R10 in 1080p 60fps :) I mean the detail of the recording, the amount of details. Overall, which one gives a nicer recording
The lens issues is for real. I sold my RP for a Sony (either the a7c or ZV-E10) still debating.
Yes the lens thing is a big deal.
At the price range of the canon R10 what camera would you recommend to get? (Zve10 included)

Hi Mark! Thank you so much for this review. I've been recommended these two as I start out in the film production world. Which would you recommend? I LOVE the Black Magic Cinema 4K however I'm not there yet 😅

No news - but they don’t tell me anything 🤣
Where do you get the leaming lut from?
LeemingLUTpro.com
Do you know when Sony will fix rolling shutter in zv-e10?
rolling shutter is a limitation of the processor and sensor.
Sony A6100 + Viltrox 23mm f1.4. That's it! Perfect for studio and street!
