My vote would be on the Nikon Z30 as it has digital IS with less crop than the Sony. The 4K Flat graded profile of Nikon Z30 looks good compared to Sony and Canon in your samples. In the end, who buys this, depends on what lenses a person might already own or brand loyalty. Both Sony and Nikon are close and have great colors. Sounds like just a better user experience with the Z30 having full functioning touchscreen, while the Z is limited to focus touch. If long video in 4K is important without overheating over 30 min., the Sony wins, but 30 min. for 4K for Nikon Z30 is often fine, or go with 2 hours record with full HD 1920. These cameras are apples to oranges on some features, but still close in function. The Nikon has a better high res. back LCD which also makes for great user experience. I would go with Nikon z30, but both cameras are priced similarly with kit lens. Tough choice for new users though if someone is not brand loyal. Oddly the Sony looks better for outdoor shots but the Nikon (or Nikpon (4:04) as you had it in one section) does better inside. Both very useable though. The feel of a camera does make a huge difference when you are using it and the Sony just doesn't have that satisfying feel to it compared to my Canon. If the Nikon has a similar feel to it, as I suspect, then that would probably have been the camera that I bought. But the Sony was released first and that's what I bought.

OMG - The rolling shutter on the Sony is horrible. That being said, as an Nikon Z6II owner, Nikon doesn´t seem to care much about their DX-lens line-up. But you can attach any Z-lens to the Z30 and therefore start building a Z FX line-up and upgrade to fullframe later.

@@howyag7914 It need more test but from what it seems the 4K not fine on theses cameras seems to be the same as the one canon had on it's M50 and M6 II, and theses 4K weren't as good as regular 4K ( and it was cropped on the M50 too like on the R10 60fps ), for most people they though it was most likely some 2.7K or 3K stretched into 4K instead of true 4K. While on nikon they seems to use the full sensor to make 1080P just like they do with the 4K ( and other brand that makes 4K from 6K ) so they have a really nice 1080P. So yeah, on one side you have a " not really 4K " and on the other side you have an " 1080P as good as 4K " ^^
Hi Mark! Thank you so much for such a detailed and interesting comparison. Can I ask you one question? Please tell me which camera you would choose if you need to shoot cool, sharp pictures of wildlife (while traveling) in summer and autumn in 4K 30 FPS? I have an old Nikon D50 and with it a couple of inexpensive lenses (Nikkor 35 2.8 and Tamron 55-200 3.5-5.6, it seems), so I also look at DSLRs. Sample list: 1. Nikon D7500 (the main advantage is the Nikon F mount, which means a bunch of lenses for the future and without any adapters, the crop is confusing when shooting 4K and the fact that it’s a DSLR...); 2. Nikon Z30 (same as Z50 but without a viewfinder); 3. FujiFilm X-T3, but used (the limitation on the shooting duration of 30 minutes is very confusing, the possibility of 4K/60 fps is attractive, and many praise the “Fuji” color and picture); 4. Sony ZV-E10; 5. Sony A6400; If you answer, please provide at least a brief argument as to why this option is chosen. The main thing is to have the highest quality, detailed video, photos - it doesn’t matter. Well, post-processing capabilities are also important so that you can paint with high quality in Adobe Premier... The shooting is non-commercial, everything is just for yourself. Thank you!
Woooah, that viltrox lense looked terrible! The brick on the building behind you was so fuzzy and out of focus. I liked the kit Lense much better. Though the nikon looked better to me. The nikon looked better on the walking path too, but still didn't have focus on your surroundings. I went ahead and picked up the Sony. I had a few things I really, REALLY wanted: Unlimited, no time limited video recording. 4k (60fps preferred, could settle for 4k @ 30fps), weather sealed, interchangeable lenses. I went ahead and let go of weather sealing in favor of the Sony. So far I'm REALLY enjoying this camera! Though I primarily wanted to use it as a camcorder, I've had a blast pairing it with a macro lense and taking insect pics. Both these cameras look great though.
The background was blurred out on purpose - it's a shallow depth of field that you can achieve with a lower aperture lens. Of course, you can use a higher stop and have everything behind you in focus too is you want like the kit lens
I actually liked both cameras but for me Nikon is ideal because of weather resistance because I shoot video outdoor specifically for camping and with the little M2 gimbal, I actually dont need to worry about stabilization. I still like the zv-10 over z-30 but i choose z-30 because of wheather resistance.
Nikon appears to have better image quality and they are more detailed. Colours are more natural. For example,in the video 10:32 ,Z30 shows you all details in the background. Leaves of trees in Sony are like painting ,pretty blurry. You can not see even the electrical wires in Sony. Look at the paint of red pickup! You can see even other objects in the reflection in Z30. But the red paint is blurry in Sony,it does not reflect anything.
I simply couldn't decide so, yep, I got both and my experience with "side-by-each" comparisons was spot on, same as yours Mark. That said, Walter (my white ZV-E10) is still my "got-to", AND I'm an old school Nikon guy.......may have to "gift" the z30 to some lucky, inspiring content creator. Hmmmm.?.?.?
I have been following you from 2 years when you have 1k subscribers. But I think sony zv10 is a much better camera because you have shown the comparison of this camera with the entry level and high end camera sony is the best
@Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis I believe it 😂 I think it'll pay off though man, you did great in my opinion c: And this is only the first video I've seen of yours :D
Great video mark! This was a fun/funny one to watch. I’m still unsure on which one to get. I’m looking for either of the two to take with me on a trip to the Mediterranean. My main concern with Sony is the crop when shooting at 4k in selfie mode? and the shaky footage (which I’m thinking that can be eliminated with a gimbal and in catalyst browse at post? Do you think a side angle lens will help with the crop at 4K when vlogging in selfie mode? Appreciate you taking the time to read this. Cheers
Catalyst browse or a gimbal will eliminate shaky footage for sure. There is no crop in 4k at 24 or 25p - 30p has a 10% crop. And if you're using a gimbal, and 24p or 25p, you'll have the widest field of view. If using catalyst, use a 10% crop with all stabilization off.
Loved the comparison video ! As someone starting out doing both video and photo for personal life documenting use as a student which would you recommend ? Also which screen is brighter on sunnier days ? Thanks !
the Nikon has a better screen for sure. they’ll both be great, I use the Sony’s so I’m more comfortable with them, but I would say the Nikon would be easier to start with
I want to get the Sony with the wide lens to counteract the worst stabilization and the crop do you think that’s a good decision or just go with the z30 I want to make sit down video and vlog
I'll stick with my zve 10, I'll buy my 3rd one shortly then I'm getting a 6700 bcause of the 10bit, I might go up to fx30 only because of the double SD card slots but I'm not leaving sony, affordable and great quality
Great video as usual. Very handsome, and the cameras are kinda cute, too. Will do you do a review on the Nikon Z30? I looked on your video tab and I didn't see one specifically for the Z30.
i have both sony zv-1 and zv-e10 i use zv-1 for vlogging cuz zero rolling shutter and use zv-e10 for cinematic footage cuz u can fix rolling shutter in post production i love both cameras and use them all the time and they dont overheat in 4k with high heat setting on big benefit there
It’s like the mini version of what I have . I have a fx30 and an a7siii , I pre ordered the fx30 before release date as an upgrade to my a6500 . 4 days after I got the fx30 a guy was selling his a7siii for 2,100 in mint condition along with a lens with only 357 shutter clicks .
Great comparison, I have both Systems, Sony E and Nikon Z . I like and want both these cameras but If I had to pick one right now it would be the Nikon I think it has better IQ and colors. Maybe it's my eyes but a lot of the sony footage has this green undertone I can't stop seeing. I have the A7c and don't see it in that. So mabe it's just the older sensor. Anyways just throwing it out there , there is an af adapter you can get for the Nikon so you can use all sony e glass. Supposed to be really good. Also, how long can the zv 10 shoot slow motion? I was disappointed when I found out my zv1 can only shoot slow motion for 3 to 5 seconds.. Great videos.
no limit on the slow motion of the zv-e10 if you are recording in 120fps. Check that it’s not a limitation of S&Q with the ZV1. if you record ina 120fps in regular mode, you might not see a time limit
Nice comparison man. For future stabilization tests, you should walk normally lol. We want to see how it looks when we are walking when vlogging and I don’t think people are going to be walking carefully and stiff while vlogging haha. It’s a better real world test.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis as a vlogger, you’re not focused on how you’re walking. You’re focused on what you’re saying and the story you’re telling. When you see a vlogger filming themselves they are not going to be tip toeing while theyre walking. That’s the whole point of this aggressive electronic stabilization is so that you can walk normally and the shot not be shaking like mad. So if you’re a vlogger watching this test, then you want to see real world what the actually shake looks like not what it looks like when you’re being careful and trying not to shake. Also as a vlogger, the point is not to have a gimbal like shot, it’s just to have a shot that doesn’t make you nauseous when you watch it. It’s expected that there’s still some camera shake when you’re vlogging and walking.
Hi, I'm looking to buy a camera to start making videos and I have watched a couple videos on your chanel, it is extremely helpful, thank you so much for sharing all you know in such an interesting, pedagogic and funny way!
Omg you are AMAZING! Your videos are very informative and well done!!!!! It’s like you had me covered on every comparison that came to mind lol love your content ❤
hi mark, thanks for another great video. you've fast become my favourite camera reviewer. does the minimum shutter in auto ISO also work in video? and you really can't shoot shutter priority in video?? seems crazy. but minimum shutter in auto iso in video would work ok for me. also nikon kit lens looks better than sony kit lens (corrected).
auto iso work great in video on Nikon in my experience - it works really well, you don't get sudden jarring of the exposure like Sony cameras Ive owned. Its one of those underated features of Nikon.
I think Nikon is better the image quality has a more natural look as opposed to the Sony which looks super saturated and heavily filtered. This is very important especially when you are editing your videos and adding your own filters.
If I’m looking to shoot video as well as shoot photos occasionally, which would you suggest of these two? I currently shoot with a canon T7i but, I want to have something more compact when I’m traveling.
As always AWESOME video Mark... but DAMN... how many freaking cameras do you own?! My guess is that you keep loosing them on your nightly secret dark pyramid catacomb expeditions...
I love your videos brotha! One question I hope you’re able to reply, I’m a barber i record a lot of step by step haircuts, take pictures. What camera do you recommend, a lot of barbers will appreciate your response lol
I did that in the auto settings. Those are the straight out of camera normal picture. To get there most out of the cameras, you need to use the flat on the Nikon and the HLG3. The LeemingLUT is a corrective LUT that just shows your colours accurately. But in my next video comparing all the camera for sharpness - I will use the standard picture profiles as well.
Funny that you mentioned shooting race cars at the end as that is one of the things I need the camera to do. Was heavily leaning to the ZV-E10 before but now seeing the Z30 leaves me with a much more difficult decision to make!
the rolling shutter is pretty bad. so if shooting race cars, you’ll need to shoot in 1080 on the zv-e10 or at least up your shutter speed to something like 1/125 - which might make the footage look a bit shaky
Hello from Montreal! Your content is AMAZING!!! As someone else mentioned, like them, i am transitioning from i phone to a budget mirrorless camera to make long 4K videos and better photos for my artwork. The overheating is an issue that really is unfortunate as i prefer the feel and ease of use of Z30. I have been told at the camera store that if you have a problem with electronics Sony is very difficult to deal with and they can have more issues than Nikon and that Nikon repairs much easier. I have also been told that a power deliver battery back and/or a fan can help with overheating. Has anyone tried this or any other hacks for overheating? Also i was told i'll need a gimbel for Nikon and not Sony for moving video...
It looks like in the comparison of the studio footage (starting at 4:33) the Sony camera is significantly sharper than the Nikon. Or is it just me? Judging from how the skin on the face and hair strands at the top of the head look. How so? Aren't both cameras 4K? Is the Sony's bitrate higher, or is it the better focus? What's causing the difference in the image quality there?
Which camera is the best for video purpose nikon z30 vs sony zve10??? I watch the lot of video's ... the sony zve10 have crop issue in 4k video and shacki footage and nikon z30 are only 4k video footage 28min only bcz of heating issue and nikon have are not crop the footage in 4k suggest me which are better for me I want to purchase the 60k to 70k budget camera pls tell me ? and which have good stabilizer video tell me ??

Good morning and thank you for the incredible content! I’m fairly ignorant with technology and currently just use my IPhone 12 Pro Max for all of the content I do. I have a detail shop where I polish cars, do ceramic coating, and paint protection film. Sometimes I’ll spend 50 to 80 hours on a single vehicle doing restoration work, and I really struggle with presenting the work on social media. The pictures I can edit on my phone usually look good but I can’t stand the video lol. It just never does the work justice. I’ve heard great things about the Sony Alpha 7iii and iiii but I found your channel recently and it seems you really enjoy and recommend this Sony Camera . If you were me and doing short 1 to 3 minute videos of vehicles, and me performing the work as well as photographs which camera would you recommend for that? I just really want to raise the bar for my business and present the work the way it deserves. I appreciate your help and I’m sorry for the long question, your videos are incredible and you’re very helpful. Thank you and God Bless

Really?? R7 4k not fine = z30 fhd????
@@malekith13 yeah i think i also agree the canon r7 and r10
Just 4k mode is like 2.7k sth..
4k fine mode is good
Similar to sony 4k i think…
Zve10 🔥🔥❤ for ever ❤
Sample list:
1. Nikon D7500 (the main advantage is the Nikon F mount, which means a bunch of lenses for the future and without any adapters, the crop is confusing when shooting 4K and the fact that it’s a DSLR...);
2. Nikon Z30 (same as Z50 but without a viewfinder);
3. FujiFilm X-T3, but used (the limitation on the shooting duration of 30 minutes is very confusing, the possibility of 4K/60 fps is attractive, and many praise the “Fuji” color and picture);
4. Sony ZV-E10;
5. Sony A6400;
If you answer, please provide at least a brief argument as to why this option is chosen.
I brought Sony ZV-E10 seeing your video love from India..........................................................😊
Thank you Sir

This dude remind me of a nicer version of Count Olaf from a series of Unfortunate events. Keep up the Great work!
Hmmmm.?.?.?
Great plan!!
Inspiring content creator 🙋🏻♂️
Me too!!
why did u decide to stick with zv e10?
USB C in Z30
ZV-E10 for me!🙂
I like the image for both of them really, but for gaming videos, vlogs, and pictures sometimes which would you reccomend?
Thank you for such an in-depth review! I'll be making my purchase after watching this!!
Can I use the same UHS2 card for both? I have the Sansisk Pro 128GB V60
I have been following you from 2 years when you have 1k subscribers. But I think sony zv10 is a much better camera because you have shown the comparison of this camera with the entry level and high end camera sony is the best
The ZV-E10 is the best value of any camera in my opinion.
Absolute great comparison videos! Which camera would be best for workout content?
Probably the zv-e10 because it won’t overheat in long sessions
You should choose the zve10 for filming and vlogging, my sincere advice, the nikon z30 is good but it is more about photography
I would agree with this for the way I shoot
How does this man not have more subs XD incredible video sir, thank you!!!
The algorithm makes me work 🤣
@Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis I believe it 😂 I think it'll pay off though man, you did great in my opinion c: And this is only the first video I've seen of yours :D
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you so much!
Loved the comparison video ! As someone starting out doing both video and photo for personal life documenting use as a student which would you recommend ? Also which screen is brighter on sunnier days ? Thanks !
the Nikon has a better screen for sure. they’ll both be great, I use the Sony’s so I’m more comfortable with them, but I would say the Nikon would be easier to start with
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Alright, thanks a lot !
Bro you are geek and funny one at the same time...love to watch your videos .. people around you must be happy to have you
I want to get the Sony with the wide lens to counteract the worst stabilization and the crop do you think that’s a good decision or just go with the z30 I want to make sit down video and vlog
I think getting a Sony 11 and using the image stabilization for vlogging is a good idea. the Nikon overheats too quickly for sit down video
Great work Mark. Please try to do a comparison between Sony Zve10 and Fuji Xs10 if possible. Thanks
trying to get in in
Very Helpful and entertaining video. This helped me make my desicion. I think I am going to go with the Sony Zv - E10
I'll stick with my zve 10, I'll buy my 3rd one shortly then I'm getting a 6700 bcause of the 10bit, I might go up to fx30 only because of the double SD card slots but I'm not leaving sony, affordable and great quality
Could you recommend a flash or speed lite for the Nikon Z30
Great video as usual. Very handsome, and the cameras are kinda cute, too. Will do you do a review on the Nikon Z30? I looked on your video tab and I didn't see one specifically for the Z30.
Yes - I’m going to do a straight review for the Nikon really soon.
i have both sony zv-1 and zv-e10 i use zv-1 for vlogging cuz zero rolling shutter and use zv-e10 for cinematic footage cuz u can fix rolling shutter in post production i love both cameras and use them all the time and they dont overheat in 4k with high heat setting on big benefit there
It’s like the mini version of what I have . I have a fx30 and an a7siii , I pre ordered the fx30 before release date as an upgrade to my a6500 . 4 days after I got the fx30 a guy was selling his a7siii for 2,100 in mint condition along with a lens with only 357 shutter clicks .
@@boomboombaby9140 the Fx30 will be next cinema cam i get but for now zv-e10 does very well surprisingly
@@joepatnaude6050 the fx30 is a game changer for sure it’s on par with the a7siii
Great video … what do you think about the z50 and z5 to do videos?
I love your content ❤. The best reviews I have ever seen.
I don't think there's a limit for slo-mo on ZV-E10.
no limit on the slow motion of the zv-e10 if you are recording in 120fps. Check that it’s not a limitation of S&Q with the ZV1. if you record ina 120fps in regular mode, you might not see a time limit
I’m confused Sony zv e10 or Nikon z30 ,for RUclips food channel
I’m using the ZV-E10 right now. Switched from the Sony a6400. I just really like Sony cameras. One day I’ll be able to step up to a big boy Sony, lol.
Will Nikon z50 will be also good for photos and video? Is Sony zv e10 good for photos ?
Whoa that Viltrox 13mm lens is insane!
it’s so great
The best comparison i have seen 🔥😉
thanks!!
Nice comparison man. For future stabilization tests, you should walk normally lol. We want to see how it looks when we are walking when vlogging and I don’t think people are going to be walking carefully and stiff while vlogging haha. It’s a better real world test.
walking normally is not a good idea for camera stability. if you’re going to Vlog with ANY camera, you have to be steady. 🤣🤣
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis just walk normally but slowly with stable hands. That would be great
Which then is a better lens selection for the ZV E10 for both photography and vlogging, viltrox 13 mm f1.4 or the sony 11 mm f1.8?
Thanks buddy, great short review!
Hi, I'm looking to buy a camera to start making videos and I have watched a couple videos on your chanel, it is extremely helpful, thank you so much for sharing all you know in such an interesting, pedagogic and funny way!
Thanks!! I understood most of those words
Omg you are AMAZING! Your videos are very informative and well done!!!!! Love how you show examples of footage and here’s the kicker, what made me comment was every question I had as to how “this or that” compares even when I went to search YOU came up! It’s like you had me covered on every comparison that came to mind lol love your content ❤
glad it was useful!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis yes it was thank you new sub
so sony it is... Looks great with the gyro. Will it fix the rolling shutter to?
Yes it will
great video, in specs only the sony wins but in real life usage nikon is just as good and I didnt know what to get. rolling shutter is a bummer
hi mark, thanks for another great video. you've fast become my favourite camera reviewer. does the minimum shutter in auto ISO also work in video? and you really can't shoot shutter priority in video?? seems crazy. but minimum shutter in auto iso in video would work ok for me.
also nikon kit lens looks better than sony kit lens (corrected).
Minimum shutter only applies to pictures. You can use auto iso in video, but the shutter speed you’ll have to set on your own as well as aperture.
auto iso work great in video on Nikon in my experience - it works really well, you don't get sudden jarring of the exposure like Sony cameras Ive owned.
Its one of those underated features of Nikon.
10:36 …You had me at hair flip!!! Living!!! 😂🙌
If its my first camera
Which is a good choice
Sony or the nikon ??
Looking for
- video quality in 1080p
- low light
- lens options with budget
if you had said 4k with all those I would have said the Sony. But the Nikon has better 1080.
Brilliant as always! Would be great to have your explanation how to match footage from different cameras in post
it’s why I use the LeemingLUT- the footage matches pretty well right after you use it.
I think Nikon is better the image quality has a more natural look as opposed to the Sony which looks super saturated and heavily filtered.
This is very important especially when you are editing your videos and adding your own filters.
Thanks for a great review, I also really liked your review on the zv E10 vs Canon M50!
The mummy’s take them
I love your videos brotha! One question I hope you’re able to reply, I’m a barber i record a lot of step by step haircuts, take pictures.
What camera do you recommend, a lot of barbers will appreciate your response lol
Great video just one suggestion maybe not use your LUT let us see the normal picture please
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks
what camera is best to start my directing/videography business for films/music and promotional videos??
out of these two - the Sony zv-e10
Hello, which of these two cameras would you recommend me for photography, thank you in advance.
I would donthe Nikon for photography because it has a better screen
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisThanks ❤
If I wann do some holiday/nature videos, should i get ne Sonys or nikon camera. I'm coming from a canon powershot g7x (first gen)
Man i missed your zoomed in sharpness test as you have did in your older videos please bring back that test
will do. I’ll do another video and I’ll include it.
Yes please include!!
Great video! I have the Zve 10 but had no idea about Catalyst Browse… thanks for sharing!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Definitely something to keep in mind, thank you!
I totally agree with you
Super good vid. Really in-depth tests and love your energy! :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Which camera is the best for video purpose nikon z30 vs sony zve10??? I watch the lot of video's ... the sony zve10 have crop issue in 4k video and shacki footage and nikon z30 are only 4k video footage 28min only bcz of heating issue and nikon have are not crop the footage in 4k suggest me which are better for me I want to purchase the 60k to 70k budget camera pls tell me ? and which have good stabilizer video tell me ??
imaazing clip! m interested in the high iso noise of these two cameras in low light condition!
My Z30 paired with the kit lenses is struggling to focus in lower than optimum light. My A7 III from 2018 focuses better. Are the kit lenses to be blamed?
kit lenses don’t allow a lot of light, so lower light will worse with the kit lens. but the Nikon autofocus is not as good as Sony’s regardless
Excellent comparison, thanks for sharing detailed video
I think the A7iv is the best photo and video camera available. The A7C are a7iii are excellent, but the A7iv has better stability and better video features like 10-bit colour
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you very much for taking the time to answer I appreciate the help!
