R7 lens + IBIS is already totally usable! No crop and all. I only hope R7 is smaller, and have more lens selections! Because full frame lenses are neither small not cheap~
Hey Mark, thanks for this video. It seems nikon flat profile is holding up against the zv-e10. How would you (more or less) rate it in terms of stops of dynamic range vs hlg3 in the sony?
Super video, big effort. I thought the R7 was best overall, as it should be for the price, but the ZV-E10 wasn't far behind. When it comes to dollars to performance ratio, I don't think the ZV-E10 can be beat.
Absolutely. there’s a few workflow things that I like about the Sony too like ease of white balancing. But if that R7 had some good lens options - it would be an easy buy for a lot of people.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I don’t think we will see good lens options for RF crop sensors from Canon, they never have in the past. I would recommend a loaner Fuji from B&H at some point, they are the king of APS-C in my eyes, if you can work with the video autofocus issues. The out of camera footage can also look as good as other manufacturers log footage, that has been graded.
I'm considering buying the XS10 because I can't get one from any store as a loan because they are always backordered. But I can buy one here in Canada. That's it - I'm doing it.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I have not had my hands on that one. I like the idea of the 10bit footage out of the x-t3 and 4, but I have actually just switched to shooting 8 bit on those camera as the look I can get out of camera is so close that I don’t really need the 10 bit flexibility. The x-s10 doesn’t shoot 10bit, if your are keen on that, that’s the only drawback I see. I also think Fuji color is better than canon color, Astia profile is the best out of camera for skin tones of any camera.
Thanks so much for another great video! I know how hard these things are to produce thanks for all of your efforts. I have the ZV-E10 and the R7 now I have to decide which I will use for vlogging / travel videos. I have the 10-18 for the Canon which is a solid lens. My dilemma is more around the lens camera combo. I have the Viltrox 13mm for the Sony system and the Tamron 17-28 that works well for the a7iv. I think the ZV-E10 and a7iv with the 13mm and the 17-28 will win out for a great low light and general use video and photo combo. The R5 and R7 may make a great combo too but I don't have a f/1.4 R mount lens so that could be an issue. Cheers.
Great video !! kudos to you... r7 is definately the better but here's the thing very slight improvement for bigger price difference... sony zve10 takes the dub for me no overheating issues no recording cap great camera in its range,...
Sir ,Z30 vs zve10 which one is batter for videography , and photography sigma E Mount 16mm f1. 4 Vs viltrox z Mount 13mm f1. 4 Which is good for video and little bit use for photography 📸 And no problem with nikon 25min record limite answer please 🥺❓
both great if you don’t mind overheating in 4K on the Nikon. I think the Sony has slightly better video features with HLG3 options, Shutter priority in video, as well as proper zebras, and a better lens selection. The 16 Sigma and 13 viltrox are of equal quality. Both amazing
Please tell me which camera is better to take for shooting dynamic and cinematic action film (choice between Nikon and Sony)? Is it true that Nikon's autofocus can be adjusted like Sony's (same speed for example)?
When you are invested in a camera infrastructure -- I have Sony;s and lots of lenses, batteries and filters for them. The cost to leave and choose another brand makes no sense to me. There is no chance in hell that I will move to Canon or Nikon. It would be a costly decision.
I have a zve10 but am hoping to use it mainly for nature photography. I have a prime 50 mm and the starter kit lens. I have heard really good things about tamron 28-70mm or the 28mm -200mm. Either of them will cost a lot! I considered at that price i could get a good bundle with canon r7 with telescoping lens. I wonder if that is smart to switch camera line since i am not too deep into investing into sony lenses. Am i making the wrong choice? Any recommendations on how i can try to find cheaper lenses for sony as is with the crisp photos of a tamron lens?
Nikon z30 is surprisingly good but that overheating issue is a bummer. I do think that Nikon will fix that via firmware because we all see that Nikon very strongly supports their Z cameras via firmware.
Most of smaller cameras will overheat while filming Unless they're having smaller MP coints 9 to 12Mp cams will be able to shoot better 4k with less overheat issues
I'm running 4K 25p on Z30 and it runs around an hour when the battery dies, no overheating. Testing it on a powerbank as we speak. So that 25 mins overheating looks subjective.
Hi Mark, Thank you for your review. But i wanna ask, what cameras do you recommend me to use for daily vlog, gym vlog, between sony zv e10 vs nikon z3 (i am suprised by the nikon z3 capability in this video).. thank you before, will appreciate it 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I find the Sony just works for everyithing I need. And it will suit what you are doing very well. The Nikon is a little better for photos and has a nicer screen, but the Sony is a better camera for video in my opinion.
Great video my friend!! I have the little doggie and I recently got a a6400 with a 18-135mm 3.5 and 50mm 1.8 for only $600. I'm team Sony but the R7 is impressive.
For vlogging it's obvious the best value start up cam is sony zv e10 for content creators but overall experience photo+video canon is my favorite. Big boys use canon but sony is great until you go pro.
I like canon’s experience as well - but there are tons of pros who swear by Sony for both photo and video. There are thousands of pros for both systems as well as Nikon
Love the video, Mark! Hope Sony comes out with a better APSC product on their Kando event this month to rival these cameras. I hope you got invited, I'd love to see your first impressions on it

Hey Mark, love your videos. I've gone deep down the rabbit hole! Wondering if you can help with a question I've struggled to find an answer to? I'm recording long form educational videos in a studio (with lighting etc). But have file size restrictions and need to record below ~35 mbps. So, that would be 1080p. Tossing up between zve10, r10 and z30. Based on their manuals: zve10 would need to shoot at 16mbps, r10 at 30mbps and z30 at 28mbps. At these settings and with kit lenses, do you have thoughts on which is better or which to avoid? Any advice would help many many students!
the Nikon 1080 will look better. in 1080, you shouldn’t have any overheating issues, but of course it depends on the room temp and how long you are shooting for. , but keep the screen open and the camera on a tripod. Although the max recoding time will be 125 mins regardless of overheating
Hi Mark! I appreciate your channel and all the information you give. It definitely helps us newbies out a ton. You inspired me to get the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens. Can you please recommend me the best bang for buck 85 mm portrait lens for the ZV-E10? Thanks in advance and a sub well deserved 😎🤘
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I appreciate that Mark. I already ordered the Sigma 16mm and before I pull the trigger on the Sigma 56mm, I would like your recommendation on a lens for family photos, special events, street photography, weddings, etc...I feel the 56mm will be too tight? Or is there a sweet spot mm you recommend with autofocus and bokeh for all types of events including portrait capabilities, bang for your buck?
Apart from overheating, I say Nikon Z30 won all categories, the picture is great. None of those cameras should be your prime cameras anyway, b-roll footage? Yes. And the ZV1 would kill in this test 🤣
This is a random question, but is there a way to see your picture profile information in post? If so, can you tell me how lol Thank you in advance! Feel better my dude!
Another very handsome review. Excellent coverage of the many scenarios we may come across. And that slow motion footage was especially sexy. A great way to sell the cameras, if the manufacturers are paying attention. The R7 looks like a great choice if I didn't already have the Sony A7iv. Maybe great as a 2nd camera if I went that route. May the Covid demon leave your family alone.
Hi. Interesting video. I really liked that you had a piece at the beginning for all auto-mode, acknowledging that some folks don't want to do all the stuff yet. No other reviews I've seen ever seem to take newbies into account. My question is related to that. I'm very new to video, don't know what half the stuff these videos mention even mean. I shoot everything 1080p straight out of camera, no color grading, and my timelines are 1080 too, no 4k. My question is with the R7, how does the 24, 30, 60 fps all look at 1080? I don't know how to 'add a little sharpening' or anything else. I just want to be able to get video of the environment and wildlife better than with a gopro hero6, which is what i have currently. I want to get good canon glass for the wildlife but want the apsc crop and can't afford full frame anyway. Would really appreciate any sort of feedback, as everyone only talks about 4k and clog and all sorts of things that don't apply to me. Thanks.. :) Paula
As always. Great comparison Mark. You inspired me for the Zv e10 ! And i bought it, very happy with my pourchasse, also you are here for all the tutorials we need. Thank your sir. Waiting for the why zv e10 is the best for ya (from this comparison) Salutations 🖖.
Same here, I was on the fence and Mark sold me on my little Douggie lol. Absolutely love my camera. As an absolute newbie I am so happy I went with it.
I have many doubts and it seems that neither of them will answer me. I work mostly shooting night parties, where it's low light (but I'm aware that I'm going to use lighting like a LED stick for example) and I'll have to do fast movements, because my edits I like to catch fast camera movements like jumping and dancing. The second point is that I use slow motion a lot because some dance moves look really good with slow motion and the 1080p of these two cameras looks bad without counting the jelly effect. So which camera should I start researching?
I gotta say - the FX3 or A7S3 sound like they’re best for you. Expensive - but they do exactly what you want the best. Amazing lowlight, fantastic rolling shutter, slow motion in 4k with no crop.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Let's go to a middle ground, is there any camera like this? It will be my first camera, I've been working for almost 1 year using iPhone, but my fear is to buy the ZV-E10, and in the first job I do, I'll lose all the material because of the gelatin effect. I've been searching for 5 days for some video of a party, or dance using beginner cameras, and I can't find it, all I can find is video made in the studio and walking on the street at night and it doesn't help me much. Edit: I think it wouldn't even need to be 4K, if the 1080p has a great sharpness without having so much noise, it's already excellent for me. Because I use a lot of slow motion, and 4k60 are already pretty expensive cameras.
Now this is what I call a real camera review! Let's me make a real informed decision. I did not think the Nikon Z30 would be as good as it is since Nikon is not really known for video.
Great video. I appreciate your time & effort even if you were sick. I started from my phone but wtiched to desktop to see every detail. But it was weird when she keeps seeing me watching a guy who waves his hair and looks at the camera with an attractive look :)))
Godsend , impeccable and really entertaining review. I badly needed a comparison between the Z30, R10 and the ZV- E10. I was leaning towards Z30, but your observation about the heating is a big disappointment for me since I intend to use it mostly in a studio for e-learning and podcast creation+some general use....Sad
How is the Bokeh blurred background effect with the Nikon and stability? I had the ZVE10 but found it too cumbersome and heavy so bought the ZV1 Now I am looking at the NikonZ30 haha what a runaround
the z30 is great, it doesn’t have a blurred background effect - but you can get a blurry background with lower fstop lenses. The estabilization is good, but the z30 is bigger and heavier than the zv-e10
I am a rookie to this world. I want a camera that can take great family and vacation photos. Straightforward camera. I am tech savvy and hope to have this camera for years. I was thinking the R7 or R10. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
great video! i have the zv-e10 and i still can't believe the image quality it produces. i actually have a question to you as a zv-e10 expert: does the digital image stabilization effects the video quality? is it noticeable? tnx
every digital stabilization crops in therefore you lose some image quality, but its not very noticeable. unless you do side by side comparisons. i notice the lose in image quality in low light as the noise would be larger and the sharpness slightly less.
Hey Mark, what settings would you recommend on the ZV-E10 with a Sony G 15mm f1.4 lens if I have a lightning setup similar to yours but I have also added some Govee neon lights in the background? I did my most recent video with f1.8 30fps 1/60 but I feel the color of the neon light looks too white and not the true color you see in person.
It sounds like your background lights are too bright. If you can't turn them down, try f2.8 or f4 and increase the strength of your key light. I personally use HLG3 with the LeemingLUT, but I make sure my coloured lights are not too bright
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I asked another creator for help and he told me it looks good on his end because of his extensive experience and sent me on my way. Thank you for always responding and not making it seem like everything is a secret.
Does anyone really gonna stabilize a bunch of zv10 footage if you vlog daily? Check settings to make sure shutter speed is 1/200 ? Do you know how much it takes to stabilize half an hour of 4K videos? What if you have 1 hour of video daily to stabilize? It all seems impractical and no one gonna do it
I wouldn’t use catalyst if I was stabilizing one hour of footage a day, but most of my vlogs are only a few minutes. So yeah - if you shoot an hour of vlogging footage - that’s a lot to stabilize - it’s also a lot of footage a day period.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis but if people do vlogging it means they will shoot a lot of videos very frequently. You probably need an hour of raw videos to make a 20 mins RUclips vlog. You need to stabilize it before start editing. I don’t think that any real vlogger will do this. Another thing that you need to raise shutter speed to 1/200. I am just wondering how this footage will look if you do vlogging on city streets where people and cars moving on the background? People and cars passing by will look so jittery.
What a great test of all these cameras. Quick quesh. How do you export the HLG3 from the ZV-e10? Whenever I export out of Final Cut people tell me it looks way over exposed on their screen, but it doesn’t on mine. 🤷🏻♀️
if you’re using HLG3 with bt.2020 color space, you’ll need to convert it to Rec. 709. you do this in the color space override tab in final cut, or you can put in a corrective LUT like the LeemingLUT or the one I made in this video (the download in pops in the description) ruclips.net/video/RVrEQPsFOpE/видео.html
I always answer honestly - can’t see the point of not answering honestly 🤣. I think the R7 is a better buy. Even though it’s more expensive, I think it’s worth it to pay the extra money. The R7 is much better than the R10
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis is the 16-50mm sufficient enough for this? I’m Rocking a Nikon D6500 for filming and it’s oooof. Is the ZVE10 still worth it this year or will it be updated next year and should wait for that? Additionally, is there any great alternative for the price? Mainly doing video/streaming and maybe a lot of photography as well.
There will be new Sony cameras probably, but the ZV-E10 only came out Aug 2021 and Sony usually waits about 3 or 4 years to update. There is nothing as good at the price in my opinion.
@Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis so it is still kind of recent. I'm kind of on the edge choosing another camera because maybe the 7000 series or the update for the 6400 and 6600 is just around the corner. But I've heard a lot of good reviews for the zve10
@Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis like the name of your channel, my gut is having a CRISIS on choosing cameras. I mean I can boost the budget up to the A6400 that's why I am contemplating on waiting forcthe successor or just go with the ZVe10 to save money and probably use the extra money for lenses.
I didn’t notice any focus issues with the r10, but I wasn’t going g behind beech’s like Chris and Jordan. I did however get the canon r7 to lose focus on me a few times. i would say haven’t heard anyone complain much about the autofocus since they came out. Chances are it’s great canon autofocus as spousal after some updates
I hope you will get well soon bro!! and great camera review. Imagine if the zve10 just has an ibis like the r7 😂 with like 200 dollars of price more. Then the Zve10 gonna win in almost every category. One thing sony has to improve the 1080 footage is soft but yeah we can use 4k 60mbps with almost same file size.
Yes that I did notice the 1080p 60 was definitely sharper on the Z30. But I wonder if it was the lens or the camera, I know Nikon does pretty decent HD tho. But it was enough to sell the Z30 to me as I shoot a lot of HD 50p.
Hey , I'm 16 I want to get into photography mainly for nature , the gym , and cars. Spending 800 on the Sony ZVE-10 is a lot for my age and I don't want to make a purchase I'm going to regret I've already seen a few videos of your abt the sony zve10 but I want to know if it's something I should go for.
I actually wouldn't recommend the ZV-E10 for you because, as a photographer, you're going to want the EVF (electronic Viewfinder). Look for a used a6000, a6100, a6300 (same sensor as the ZV-E10). Pair it with the Sigma 30mm 1.4 and you'll get professional shots on a budget. BandH has a used a6000 in new like condition for $529. bhpho.to/3wdEuxG Then get that Sigma lens for $218 Used - bhpho.to/3T3Qfk3 The Pics will be amazing.
so if u grt zv-e 10 with tamron 17-70 (stablization) and use catalyst browser for rollsing shutter. Would it be compatible to record basketball games? ahhh debating between z30
I would choose a video camera for that like the Sony AX53. Great zoom range, long battery, amazing stability no overheating. The ZV-e10 will take hours and hours to stabilize a whole basketball game and the Nikon overheats after about 25 mins.

Cheers.
yes - it’s tricky to work around the RF lens pew right now. Great cameras, but more lens options would be fantastic
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis hopefully they open up that RF mount to 3rd parties soon.

Thos are pretty new cameras. What they need is lenses. There are no APS-C lenses for Canon RF mount besides the kit lens and the Sigma 18-50
Great video !! kudos to you...
r7 is definately the better but here's the thing very slight improvement for bigger price difference...
sony zve10 takes the dub for me no overheating issues no recording cap great camera in its range,...

Which is good for video and little bit use for photography 📸
And no problem with nikon 25min record limite answer please 🥺❓
both great if you don’t mind overheating in 4K on the Nikon. I think the Sony has slightly better video features with HLG3 options, Shutter priority in video, as well as proper zebras, and a better lens selection. The 16 Sigma and 13 viltrox are of equal quality. Both amazing
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you sir 😊

Please tell me which camera is better to take for shooting dynamic and cinematic action film (choice between Nikon and Sony)? Is it true that Nikon's autofocus can be adjusted like Sony's (same speed for example)?
When you are invested in a camera infrastructure -- I have Sony;s and lots of lenses, batteries and filters for them. The cost to leave and choose another brand makes no sense to me. There is no chance in hell that I will move to Canon or Nikon. It would be a costly decision.
Yes. once you’re in - there’s no getting out. And Sony definitely has the most options lens wise without needing to adapt. Thanks, J.R.!!
Hey man, FYI, I think you have a typo in your thumbnail. It says ZV30 instead of Z30. Great video!
Oh wow - thanks. Virus brain 🤣🤣
Hope so - I just bought one
Most of smaller cameras will overheat while filming
Unless they're having smaller MP coints
9 to 12Mp cams will be able to shoot better 4k with less overheat issues

Did you bought the zv-e10?
As always your reviews stand out. Thank you for the nice comparison. I would like your suggestions for lens with Nikon z30.
Viltrox has released a 13mm 1.4 which is amazing. Review coming.
Dougie! Of course. Then R7
Great video my friend!! I have the little doggie and I recently got a a6400 with a 18-135mm 3.5 and 50mm 1.8 for only $600. I'm team Sony but the R7 is impressive.
Yes - the R7 is great - but the native lens selection is not great right now.
Ah, the Rona. When you opened up the vid I just thought you were trying a different mic 😂

Weird how R7 seems to lose focus according to quite a few reviews, including yours. Does R10 have that problem too?
The r10 hasn't lost me yet as far as I know.

I think the Nikon has the sharpest kit lens.

Thanks Mark, you're a legend. Thank you!
Sony should give you money for all the ZV-e10 sales you generate HAHA
Got myself a ZV-e10 because of you.

The best portrait lens is the Sigma 56mm f1.4. That is an 85mm equivalent in full frame terms. it’s also the best value. amazing lens.

Thanks.. :) Paula
The R7 will look great in 1080. Canon lenses are expensive for the RF mount - but they are great.
As always. Great comparison Mark.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis canon r7 is better than Sony a7sii.. I'm buy used a7sii...please guide me..r7 best or Sony a7sii..
Yes - Nikon has really stepped it up lately. excited about their future!!

Godsend , impeccable and really entertaining review. I badly needed a comparison between the Z30, R10 and the ZV- E10. I was leaning towards Z30, but your observation about the heating is a big disappointment for me since I intend to use it mostly in a studio for e-learning and podcast creation+some general use....Sad
the zv-e10 will suit you well. the Nikon is a little easier to use, but once you get to know the Sony the results are outstanding
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Awesome thanks Mark 😀

The R7 is the way to go for what you describe. There aren’t a lot of lenses available yet, but they will be coming.
great video!
i have the zv-e10 and i still can't believe the image quality it produces.
i actually have a question to you as a zv-e10 expert: does the digital image stabilization effects the video quality? is it noticeable?
tnx
the image quality is the same after applying stabilization. It just crops in on the sensor.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thank you!
every digital stabilization crops in therefore you lose some image quality, but its not very noticeable. unless you do side by side comparisons. i notice the lose in image quality in low light as the noise would be larger and the sharpness slightly less.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks I'll give that a shot!
Which camera do u prefer for RUclips videos or your personal favourite
I use Sony’s mostly because of lens selection, exposure tools, and white balancing. But I use them all at various times.
