on the topic of power, I believe (though not tried it myself yet) that if you have a powerbank that outputs sufficient power, you can just put your normal LP-E17 battery in the camera, and plug the powerbank directly into the USB-C port of the camera. when the camera is OFF, it will charge the battery. when it's ON, the powerbank will directly power the camera (but won't charge the battery at the same time)
Turn on Airplane mode It turns off the internal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth transmitters that need only need be on for communications. Batteries then lasts for days.

Where did you get that dji ronin attachment for the Crave battery, and do you think it will work on my dji rs4 (not pro model)? And I already use a handlebar on my gimbal. Thank you
Do yu know if this set up will work with the Crave Plus Battery in addition to the Crave Plus Pro? I don't need as much power so I'm looking for a smaller, lighter battery.
Hi friend.. I love the beefier setup for your R8... Can You please tell me which lens are those or your using.. I just bought a r8 camera but I don't think they will come with those lenses.. Im thinking those are for vloggin.?
The battery cable is better in the sense nothing get's out of the side of the camera. Could be better like for a wedding photographer having a battery/power bank on him. I suppose one could make his own 2 18650 box and power it directly from that.
What is the average battery life? When you say "all day" what are you estimating the time? looking at the R8 for pictures/lacrosse tournament videos for my kid
Hello, why not just put a USB C cable from the power bank to the camera USB C connector? It's supposed can charge the battery and keep the camera operational... or not? I just bought this camera but isn't delivered yet ....
You can do it that way but I like the option of it being on a gimbal and I can plug the gimbal into the camera and have controls like I explained in the video. You'll love the camera
So I live in Florida and honestly don’t have an overheating issue shooting 4k 60fps clog3. But remember like I said in the video I use this camera as my B cam. So when I use it I only use it for small clips here and there. B Roll pretty much. I never run it long enough in 4k 60 to give it time to over heat. When I use this camera for interviews I only shoot in 4k 30 clog 3
Yes you can. The camera overheats faster and you lose the ability to attached the gimbal to the camera when you plug in that way. I made a new video explaining all of this. If you have the time.
I have dealt with the r8 overheating at outdoor music festivals, does using the external battery bank help prevent overheating? I read that it may help. Great video!
If you use the external battery bank with a dummy battery yes it gives you some extra time for sure. But if you use an external battery bank with the usb c cable I feel that it over heats the same.
Just used the R8 on a gimbal, shooting 4k 60 fps B-roll in the forest. The batteries do go VERY fast, but the battery life was better at 4k 24 fps. I was lucky to be able to charge the batteries at the campsite where I was staying, so it worked out. But if I didn't have the ability to charge the batteries, I would need a different solution. Also the beginner gimbal I was using ran out of juice pretty quick too. So this battery/ charging situation may become a bigger issue in the future. But overall the video quality is just awesome.
I agree the video quality is amazing. Thanks for watching the video. There is work arounds to making this camera work for you. Just have to keep it cool because from my experience it will overheat. But keep in mind I live in Florida.
also I released a video last week talking about the R8. I dont speak to highly of it so watch only if you want to hear my true experience lol. The image quality is good but man the over heating issue is a big problem for me.
Yea and also they have 120 and 180 1080p super slow motion that looks beautifulllllllll. The 1080P should save battery and memory card space, plus you don't lose too much quality. You still get cannon log so it's super fun and extremely slow motion lol. give it a try if you haven't already.
I'm using it and love it. To be fair, it's my first full frame/DSLR so I of course I don't have the comparison. but I love how it feels, how light it is (I sometimes carry it around in my hand on a walk with a RF100-400 with no problem), what possibilities it gives me and (I guess) how much more it can do as seen in this video!
Yes it is honestly an amazing camera and for your first full frame camera it’s going to open up a world of possibilities In my opinion. Don’t cheap out on the memory card though. SanDisk V90 cards is all I would use.
Hi, I'm just getting into video and do a lot of live music. What should my video settings be for this camera? I shot a video recently and my film have banding in the light areas you can really notice it. How do I fix this? Thank you!
@@MichaelJohnsonProductions Thanks for your reply! I sent you an email. I'm not shooting in Clog 3, should I be? I'm a beginner and from what I understand Clog 3 is like shooting in RAW, correct?
Work horse lens would be the 24-70 f2.8 rf or if you're going for a little cheaper do the 24-105 f4 rf. Both amazing lenses. Also for nd filters I love polarpro.

You can but then you won’t be able to use the usb c for the gimbal. I also notice it don’t run got when using the dummy battery. It gets a lot hotter when you have a battery in there.
The USB C Port does not keep the camera running. It will only charge the battery inside once the camera is off. I wish the usb c port worked. Trust me I tried everything to make that work lol
Awesome video! Quick question: do you know how low the shutter speed can go when in video mode? Looking for a camera that can get that cool slow/delayed shutter effect for video. Thanks!
