Guess what? We just winterized our camper using items we already had around our house and spent less than $15 instead of the $250 we would've spent having someone else do it. In case you're wondering how we did it, this video shows you how to DIY winterize your RV at home using antifreeze and your garden hose. It sure is effective and can save a ton of money!

I do the exact winterizing as you. Last thing I did was open my low point drains again. You might find some antifreeze. Thanks for all your RV tips and destination reviews. It’s very helpful. Cheers!

Yeah if you don’t have the supplies or know what to do we can see why you’d have someone else do it, but if ya do…this is pretty easy.

Great Tips! I just replaced the anode rod in my home water heater (didn't film it) but that socket would have come in handy. A thin walled 1-1/16' socket is hard to come by.

I’ve had that socket for a while. It’s been handy for sure. I can’t tell you how happy I was when I came up with screw driver trick to get the threads started. Thanks for watching!

Mine does not have the Anode rod in my hot water heater. I know, but mine does not use one. Just a nylon plug. Also I don't need the sump pump. I have a bypass valve by my water pump. It has a hose attached to it and I put it right in the Jug of antifreeze sucks it right out. Turn on the pump and open the faucets etc till pink. Run it long enough to fill the drain traps. Of course I turn off both valves to the hot water tank. Never blowed out the lines and just leave the antifreeze in them. Never busted a line in ten years and it's been 17 below here in Ohio. Great info. No way would I pay to get it done. Takes all of 15 minutes and just over a gallon of antifreeze.

I like to blow it out just so that in the Spring it’s a little quicker to get on with camping.

It’s a new level of lazy to pay anyone to do this easy process. Nice video. I do the same minus the blowing. I am of the mindset that if a line were to crack, a pool of pink liquid would show me quickly and not learn about it until I hook up the water on the first camp out. But I also don’t put mine in storage.

Surprised the camper does not have a bypass on the pump to suction the antifreeze and avoid using the fresh water tank. Mine is a small travel trailer without a valve system but it has a suction hose attached to the pump with a valve to pull from the suction hose.

Ours is a pain to get to, gotta take the panel off under the pantry, so I just do it this way.
