I would say he seems like a very caring doctor. I don't think he wants to testify against her. He sounds like he is trying low key to say she was a teen in shock.

From the comments I expected him to be a complete bumbling embarrassment but I think he did fine. It's not everyday you have to testify in a potential murder case, or at the very least, that one of your patients gave birth and then buried her baby.

I just started watching this trial so I don’t know all the details but I was once young, pregnant & scared to death. I was the daughter of a pastor, raised in a very strict household. Obviously I didn’t kill my baby but I hid the pregnancy until I was 6 months. It was a very difficult time but my family & I made it through & I couldn’t imagine my life without my son. If you are young and scared and pregnant, I can tell you things aren’t as bad as you imagine. You will have more support than you realize. Please be safe for you and your baby.

She was 32 weeks pregnant at her first doctors appointment??? Wtf😳 What did she think was gonna happen?!? I wish people in the comments would stop defending this girls actions by saying she was too scared to tell her parents like her parents did something wrong. Her parents taught her right from wrong. She knew right from wrong. She chose to do wrong on her own. The doctors weren’t at fault, the assistants weren’t at fault. The pharmacist wasn’t at fault. The parents weren’t at fault. SKYLAR WAS AT FAULT! Skylar is young and soft spoken but she’s not stupid and she’s not a small child. She consented to sex without contraception. And she tried to throw her doctor under the bus. I feel bad for the doctor. He was super nervous and was obviously very careful with his choice of words so that he doesn’t get sued for malpractice.

Geeze! I would be very, very worried about this MA's competence. She misunderstands or does not understand simple vocabulary and questions. Very worrisome. Started off not understanding the questions of what capacity she works for the OB/GYN, by answering the number of years she's worked there. Later, when asked the concerns of the patient, she says the patient has goosebumps and was nervous. This is not a concern by patient, it's an observation.

Totally agree. Her cred went out the window the moment she didn't understand the question about what she actually does. I'm now into the Dr's testimony at the 42 minute mark where he testifies that he didn't mention adoption; he suggested that relatives would raise the kid. That is a silly thing to say when you don't know the family members on an intimate basis. I don't know the laws regarding abortion in the states within the U.S. but I know that she was far past the legal limit. I just hope that in early pregnancy abortion is a) an option; and b) a doctor advises accordingly.

Considering Skylar was upset and stated he can not have this baby and wanted no one to know, Why did the office not make the next day appointment right there in the office before she left. Any time I have had a male doctor, always there was a nurse who was present during the exams... @ 36:42 Doc stated he measured the baby femor however did not chart it in the medical reports...I think this medical office has some issues with their practices and testimony will reflect their need to protect themselves for any errors that made. girlygamer Skylar wasn’t at that appointment for her pregnancy. She was there for a RX for birth control. I would think that the doctor was probably shocked to find little miss Skylar pregnant. She wouldn’t allow an internal exam so he couldn’t do one. Skylar lies about her last period, pretended to be shocked she was pregnant, after her urine test came back positive he did what he could, quick measurement of stomach, got a quick ultra sound to check the babies size and heartbeat . She was not scheduled for pregnancy, the doctor told her she needed to come back for a FULL prenatal appointment. They tried to get her to follow up....Skylar refused, due to hippa laws there was nothing else he could do. Skylar could have notified someone when she was in labor...to intentionally hide the amount of pain she was in....and we mothers know that she was in PAIN...because she wanted to be able to make sure no one knew she had a baby...she smothered her baby and buried it like an unloved pet.

Normally Dr's are good public speakers as it's a common thing they face from start of training to daily clinics & addressing staff. I get he was being careful not to say "I got the gestation wrong" but the way he answered questions lacked confidence hurting credibility when describing procedures. He fumbled a great deal with something that is his chosen area of expertise, I'm guessing he was a Consultant as well.

She’s is just a nursing assistant You can teach anybody to take a Blood pressure, other observations, and record those observations, then the patient is seen by a Doctor who interprets the one taken. I would have had a nurse or a woman come in and speak with her or even suggest a hotline. She had nobody to open up to ( doesn't excuse what she did ) but her mother was all about appearances, her daughter had to be a specific weight, look a certain way, and pushed Skylar to constantly lose weight and eat a certain way, so I think she felt scared to tell her mother she was pregnant due to how adamant she was she look perfect. Again, absolutely no excuse for what Skylar did, and as someone who was Adopted, I think there's always another way, and she had no right to do this to her poor innocent baby, but I'm sure she felt so alone and terrified.

I love how the Prosecutor kept bring up the measurements but it back fired on him cause that does prove anything good for his case cause if she was measuring 32wks and she was further along the baby was not growing right and if he was right about the measurements then she had the baby early and when her lawyer got the last word and proved that point he sat down and gave the prosecutor a “haha” look. I don’t think people understand that the prosecutors has been telling “lies” to the media to where the family were getting death threats and it was proven in court by facts that a lots of what they said to the media were just assumptions and you can tell her lawyer was happy to prove him wrong in certain things. There is no law that if you give a home birth and it is born dead that you have to report it and have a proper “funeral” what do you think people did back in the day when people died and in other countries today... they just bury them or have their own “funeral” but what they are trying to do here is prove if the baby was alive or dead at birth. To be honest I like to know what law says that she can get “tampering with a corpse” if the baby was hers and was dead at brith because people can bury their loved ones the way they want to and in their yard? I have seen people have family plots in their yard of ancestors and recent love ones. I’m not saying what she did is right and I think it’s disgusting that she tried burning her baby but in a law stand put where is it wrong?

    • @jessicawilson4655

Yaya's Playhouse she didn’t try burning the baby. The bones were apparently wet, the ME thought it was charring to the bones but then they dried and and another ME looked at them and saw no signs of charring or any marks of any kind. So that was absolutely false. Just shows people actually do admit to things they didn’t do when being badgered and badgered by police and all they want is to go home and for it to stop! It’s really sad! Not saying I think she’s innocent, I think the baby was born alive honestly, but it can’t be proven so of course I can’t say for sure that’s just my opinion from all the evidence I’ve heard. But the police are so wrong for what they did in that second interview and def made them and their case look so bad!

Teen comes in for bc, ob discovers she's pregnant and it appears she didn't know she was pregnant, concluding she hasn't had any prenatal care, the ob measures her baby bump if you will, does the 1st ultra sound at a supposed 32 wks and only does a simple look see of the baby? Seriously? Regardless if he wants her to come back why not be more thorough whilst she's there in the office?! Makes little sense.

@Piatequila , since you replied directly to my comment, I'll answer. Because she is young and has no experience having babies. Babies are usually born with a mucous plug. The mucous plug has to be suctioned out. Once that is done the baby can breathe. They also usually tap their foot or give their bottom a little tap to get them breathing. I'm sure she didnt know to do either of those things so I'm sure the baby never breathed. I feel she was negligent but not murderous.

Ugh you did a pregnancy test that already came back positive, WTH. What a horrible answer. He’s not coming off creditable at all. Super easy question & easy answer: Can the weeks someone is pregnant be off or wrong according to just a measurement, when the patient doesn’t give a consistent last period date? Answer: Absolutely.
