I have been watching crime trials for years now and have to say Law and Crime is by far the best channel for quality and content. I really don’t know why so many people have these audio issues. In general the majority have very good audio especially this one.
That Cop Investigator was an A-HOLE...he didn't even have all of his facts. He didn't even know that she bled for 3 days after giving birth and that whole comment about it looking like a torso was completely uncalled for. He didn't mention it in his initial report. You can tell he's an A-HOLE arrogant cop. What about the laughing...what that just him doing his job at the crime scene.
The defense attorney tried to use the “fact” that she bled for 3 days after the “stillbirth” to try and make the deputy look stupid for finding blood on her carpet but to my knowledge and experience, you bleed for weeks after having a baby! Weeks! I have 4 children and I’ve never, ever bled for only 3 days after having a baby and certainly not all over my bedroom carpet and bathroom floor/walls. Normally women use pads after birth to contain the bleeding... not the floor. The whole 3 days of bleeding just doesn’t compute at all! Also, the defense attorney said none of that blood belonged to Annabelle... Well No kidding!! It should be the mother’s blood found from birth, not the baby’s! It’s also known she had a baby upstairs, she confessed to that, so he was literally only doing his job and finding all the evidence of what happened. Attorneys can come off so condescending and smug sometimes!

I love how sometimes witnesses at any trial put the defense attorneys on the spot and they have no comeback because the witness is right so they just move on to the next question. 😊
Netflix has put out a documentary...Exposed:The case of Keli Lane. It’s a case that is well known to us Aussies & truth is stranger than fiction. I’m just recommending it as this trial has reminded me of baby Tegan & that case. Anyone into true crime shows etc should give it a look see.
Amanda A yes it has but new bits & pieces pop up from time to time. Like a lot of cases that are endemic to certain countries they are not always common knowledge worldwide. It’s an interesting case that came to mind watching this trial & I just mentioned it for crime buffs, like myself, who are on the lookout for stories they may not have heard of. I’ve stumbled across old cases that I wasn’t aware of... latest example being Sean Vincent Gillis. Can’t believe he slipped under my radar. Nurse Bev I imagine she does, and her family does. Whatever else she may be, she is still innocent until proven guilty. It wouldn’t hurt for law enforcement to be a little respectful while doing their job. One day it could be YOUR family member being investigated. Anyone could find themselves in a situation where they are suspected of a crime-not necessarily in a case like this one, but tragedies occur in all kinds of situations and a crime can be suspected in a perfectly innocent case. Your spouse trips and falls in an accident....You hit someone while driving....a child breaks a bone and the ER doctor suspects abuse or neglect. ANYONE can find themselves in situations like that.

Woman left a baby out in the cold in a ditch in like the 80’s. She was just caught, this kinda of crap happens and will continue to happen unless these crimes are dealt with and we create a world in which these crimes are majorly punished!

you never know what someones feeling inside or how shes dealt with it. you dont know what the truth is really. after seeing her first interview where she was very worked up and babbling I don't think she killed the baby. she said quickly that she didnt cut the cord. the detective skipped over that quickly bc he didnt want that to stand out bc if the cord wasnt attached to placenta then baby would've been dead. she even quickly said, oh God does tht mean I hurt her? bc I didnt cut the cord?? she didn't even know anything about cutting the cord or tht it was supposed to be attached. her entire first interview sounded very truthful and honest. i think shes too young, naive, and scared to have acted and lied like tht thru the whole thing

My comment was describing the impression I think she is giving by her demeanor in court. Being on the stand can be very nerve wracking...especially knowing you're being recorded and that it is a high profile case. That could have something to do with her less than perfect speaking
My husband, every day: "I had took", "I had went"... AHHH. I'm petrified my kids are not going to be able to speak proper English. I've noticed that even adults (including witnesses in this trial) are using "me" as a subject with alarming frequency (e.g., "Me and Skylar dated until I broke up with her for undisclosed reasons"). ugh.

@@misskitty1977 IKR I believe its in the video of Skylar and her parents in the police interview room or when Skylar was interviewing with the detective; Skylar gave much more detail than the Doc testified too with regards to their conversation on the first visit... She stated she suspected she was pregnant, felt the baby, did not want the baby and ask the doctor if she could get an abortion as she further stated the Doc told her no that she was too far along. The other concern is the DOC office and staff testified that they originally order Birth control the day of her visit, however, testified they canceled the BC that same day with the pharm. However, in the police interview room, she states over an over she picks up her scrip. She admitted to taking the pills even though she knew she was pregnant.. Skylar may have made the doc appoint for birth control to get in to see doc than when she was alone with Doc she asked if she could get an abortion... I think that is what she really wanted to do... I hate to debate a right to abort with so many get so upset either way... in the end, she concealed the delivery no med ALL alone quietly gave birth to that baby, and soon after as she stated in the interview room clean up the mess a buried the baby... She did not want that baby. I think she killed the baby know if she tells anyone it was alive she would go to jail... That was her main concern in the police interview AM I going to Jail..

I'm not sure on how many guilty verdicts but I think at least manslaughter and hiding the corpse. I have had people say rude reactions to my comments or theories about my opinion about the parents but I believe the jury is intelligent enough to realize the defendant is on trial for murder and not the unsupportive parents. Finally!! Been reading through the comments and thought it was just me. Just catching up with this trial and have seen nothing yet that has convinced me of her guilt. The big factor in this for me so far is the fact that the baby wasn't burned yet from what the defense stated, in her second interview she confessed to it. Screams coercion. @@christineb.1 they also use the body farm to help train search dogs for remains. I learned that when the search groups would come search for my daughters remains, which we are still searching for her. I asked how the dogs were trained and they use the bones etc to train dogs.

It's so hard to imagine how she gave birth and then with no help and no pain medicine, goes out to the backyard afterwards and buries the baby... I gave birth to my second daughter naturally with no epidural and I was in a lot of pain afterwards. Your body has a lot of adrenaline going through it, but still, I'm trying to imagine this night. I have so many questions... Did she already have a shovel, or did she have to go into the garage or shed and get one? Again doing all this with no pain meds, having to sneak and be careful not to wake anyone or make noise.... what about all of the blood? Surely a regular pad would have been soaked through as she is carefully walking out of her large two story home and through her large backyard. She had to have been prepared with something to soak up the blood and I think it's possible she had pain pills. Maybe one of her parents had some in the medicine cabinet? Or a grandparent's medicine cabinet or someone at school? She had to have some kind of plan, at least for the blood.

She had a new boyfriend during the time she delivered the baby. Skylar was 18 years old educated adult. The mother received an email from the doctors that Skylar was pregnant...
The only thing that mattered to this little skank (and her family) was outside appearances. That should give you a better idea of what kind of person she is and how she ended up here.

Lol Every time I see someone else's living quarters online, I judge them by their cleanliness. I can ujderstand some clutter, and some day to day dirt, but when it is obvious that areas haven't been cleaned in weeks/months, I am just baffled. Although- if my upstairs bathroom ever ended up online, I would be mortified. nOt that the sink/tub/toilet aren't cleaned, there are just things about that room that are un-cleanable and therefore I'm forced to just put it out of my mind. The walls are wood that is not sealed so they are rough and can't be washed, there is wallpaper (yuck) vinyl floor that is old and cracking, gross caulk, we have rusty well water, so there are rust stains....I'm bumming myself out talking about it lol (it's a rental, obv.)

After you have have a baby you bleed profusely through everything for weeks. The hospital gives you special underwear and huge pads, where she made zero preparations for the baby she probably didn’t have anything to contain that much blood on hand.
It’s so hard to say whether or not I believe she killed that baby after birth but her refusal to seek medical attention when she found out she was pregnant, the fact that she never did a single thing to ensure a healthy pregnancy and birth is almost the same thing really. It’s very likely her actions caused that babies death or failure to thrive in utero. That doesn’t sit right with me.

It wouldn’t hurt for law enforcement to be a little respectful while doing their job. One day it could be YOUR family member being investigated. Anyone could find themselves in a situation where they are suspected of a crime-not necessarily in a case like this one, but tragedies occur in all kinds of situations and a crime can be suspected in a perfectly innocent case. Your spouse trips and falls in an accident....You hit someone while driving....a child breaks a bone and the ER doctor suspects abuse or neglect. ANYONE can find themselves in situations like that.

you never know what someones feeling inside or how shes dealt with it. you dont know what the truth is really. after seeing her first interview where she was very worked up and babbling I don't think she killed the baby. she said quickly that she didnt cut the cord. the detective skipped over that quickly bc he didnt want that to stand out bc if the cord wasnt attached to placenta then baby would've been dead. she even quickly said, oh God does tht mean I hurt her? bc I didnt cut the cord?? she didn't even know anything about cutting the cord or tht it was supposed to be attached. her entire first interview sounded very truthful and honest. i think shes too young, naive, and scared to have acted and lied like tht thru the whole thing

She stated she suspected she was pregnant, felt the baby, did not want the baby and ask the doctor if she could get an abortion as she further stated the Doc told her no that she was too far along. The other concern is the DOC office and staff testified that they originally order Birth control the day of her visit, however, testified they canceled the BC that same day with the pharm. However, in the police interview room, she states over an over she picks up her scrip. She admitted to taking the pills even though she knew she was pregnant.. Skylar may have made the doc appoint for birth control to get in to see doc than when she was alone with Doc she asked if she could get an abortion... I think that is what she really wanted to do... I hate to debate a right to abort with so many get so upset either way... in the end, she concealed the delivery no med ALL alone quietly gave birth to that baby, and soon after as she stated in the interview room clean up the mess a buried the baby... She did not want that baby. I think she killed the baby know if she tells anyone it was alive she would go to jail... That was her main concern in the police interview AM I going to Jail..

I'm not sure on how many guilty verdicts but I think at least manslaughter and hiding the corpse. Finally!! Been reading through the comments and thought it was just me. Just catching up with this trial and have seen nothing yet that has convinced me of her guilt. The hate for this girl and her family so far in the comments has been beyond anything I've seen in a good while, especially as we're only on day 1. The big factor in this for me so far is the fact that the baby wasn't burned yet from what the defense stated, in her second interview she confessed to it. Screams coercion. It’s definitely dysfunctional.

It's so hard to imagine how she gave birth and then with no help and no pain medicine, goes out to the backyard afterwards and buries the baby... I gave birth to my second daughter naturally with no epidural and I was in a lot of pain afterwards. Your body has a lot of adrenaline going through it, but still, I'm trying to imagine this night. I have so many questions... Did she already have a shovel, or did she have to go into the garage or shed and get one? Again doing all this with no pain meds, having to sneak and be careful not to wake anyone or make noise.... what about all of the blood? Surely a regular pad would have been soaked through as she is carefully walking out of her large two story home and through her large backyard. She had to have been prepared with something to soak up the blood and I think it's possible she had pain pills. Maybe one of her parents had some in the medicine cabinet? Or a grandparent's medicine cabinet or someone at school? She had to have some kind of plan, at least for the blood.

Although- if my upstairs bathroom ever ended up online, I would be mortified. nOt that the sink/tub/toilet aren't cleaned, there are just things about that room that are un-cleanable and therefore I'm forced to just put it out of my mind. The walls are wood that is not sealed so they are rough and can't be washed, there is wallpaper (yuck) vinyl floor that is old and cracking, gross caulk, we have rusty well water, so there are rust stains....I'm bumming myself out talking about it lol (it's a rental, obv.)

After you have have a baby you bleed profusely through everything for weeks. The hospital gives you special underwear and huge pads, where she made zero preparations for the baby she probably didn’t have anything to contain that much blood on hand.
Ummmmmmmm, no damn body said she killed her baby with frickin candles 🙄. Completely irrelevant. But nice try.
It’s so hard to say whether or not I believe she killed that baby after birth but her refusal to seek medical attention when she found out she was pregnant, the fact that she never did a single thing to ensure a healthy pregnancy and birth is almost the same thing really. It’s very likely her actions caused that babies death or failure to thrive in utero. That doesn’t sit right with me.
If she didn’t directly murder the baby she certainly indirectly murdered her by making sure she would be born dead..

@Alicia A Heck no! No way and I was implying she may have had help as it's not the done thing...to give birth all alone, especially at that age. I would imagine she would have been beyond terrified at that age. Cant see her birthing alone, but who knows. Alicia, she is to be held accountable for her crime, no matter how the defence water it down and twist it in a way that sounds almost like we should feel sorry for her. Cheers.

I just started watching this trial, but upon first glance “green tea and diet pills”....is she bulimic? It would explain the unsuccessful pregnancy.
They also mentioned laxatives. Couples with the look of her body (sharp shoulder blades, etc) sure seems as though she has an eating disorder.
