What an awesome transformation, you must be so proud, like a kid in a sweet shop, and like your first legal pint on your 18th, cars, like this evoke, so many memories, and do mental health, the world of good by doing so.
Please don’t ever sell it Rob even if anyone offers you stupid money, you will never find one as good as this, keep it, love it, enjoy it, because trust me, there will be days when it’s been as tough as it can be, and you think everything is against you, all you need to do is open the garage door open the car put the keys in and the world gets so much better enjoy every mile mate you deserve it

Wow ! Just watched this an it’s certainly brought back some memories - As a lad I ran one of these from 88 to 92 - was 22 when I bought it…..which was quite a lot of car at the time….. an like you sold it as a 26 year old to get me into me last house……for 33 hundred quid……which at the time wasn’t too bad as they weren’t worth a rub due to the high insurance costs…..
A quick way to immobilise those from the drivers seat was to flip up the rear seat squab an with your left hand reach over and pull the factory two pin connector to the fuel pump apart…….despite me expensive Gemini full closure alarm this quick little trick prevented mine from getting too far away once when attempted to steal….. Great Video 👍😃

Hello Rob, well, this is one of those moments in your life, where you can "wet yourself" with excitement every time that you see this car, or enjoy the thrill of driving it about - as and when you like! Wonderful to see the process from start to finish. You do deserve this "special treat" to yourself because of the hard work that you (and Chris) do in your workshop. A real reward for helping out so many people in a practical way when you sell your cars. Best wishes from Lincolnshire

Is a thing of beauty Rob. The one thing I would be tempted to do would be to cut a piece of ply wood that fits over the spare wheel but flush with the boot floor. Put some felt on one side so it doesn't damage the spare wheel, then when the boot carpet goes over it , it doesn't sag. Nice job there boys.😎👍

It sounds absolutely amazing. Back of one of my childhood fantasies.. My uncle used to work for Haynes Of Maidstone sports department, at Parkwood. And he used to bring home some lovely cars, and one of them was turbo. Made my day., Got to be one of Ford top top 10 cars all time. I am so gutted that I can’t see your videos but love, listen to him and can picture of what you’ve done to this. Beautiful car

@@sruk i’ve got a disease called retinitis pigmentosa‘s known since I was about 14. She should’ve drove do a lot of stuff but didn’t listen. But I had to give up driving in 2008, and then it finally stopped me working in 2012. Are used to work on the roads but used to restore old lorries and tractors with a good friend. Still tinker with all tools and just got into Green Woodworking. but still challenging myself to do a lot of stuff and still can polish a car as good as the day when I could see I’ll be better. But lucky now I’ve got a guide dog and do a lot of charity work lucky that I’ve seen in the past so know a lot of my cars and having an uncle loved and worked for Ford. Got to experience a lot of forwards when I was younger.

Lovely job guys. That paint finish will be better than the day it came off the production line. Did my Ford apprenticeship in 1985 oh the memories when we all first saw the mk3 RS. 👍

@7.00 you said..."you can see me in there...look how lovely it looks". Just to clarify Rob are we talking you or the car? 😀😀 Fantastic restoration of an iconic car. Sadly nearest I got to one was an Xr3i. Well done on saving a very desirable classic. Cheers, Bob

If you get stuck you might be able to repair the sound deadening pad cracks with CT1 sealant which is brilliant stuff and can be bought in anthracite dark grey as well as black. No brand new secondhand battery then. Can a seat trimmer get the wrinkles out of the seat covers and door panels?

I had a 1984 XR3i and along with my 1984 Range Rover think they were the most enjoyable cars I've had even compared to my current Leon Cupra 290. The RS1600i is another one of my fav along with the S1 Escort Turbo.
