- This time we're back to restoring motorcycles namely this Ducati 748 SPS that was abandoned by its owner long ago and left to rot in this barn, but I've since saved it and restored it back to fully road going condition and found it a lovely new home to live in with its new owner. I hope you enjoy this episode and will leave a little like and a comment to show your support. Enjoy.

Restoration Of An Abandoned Ducati 748 SPS - Genuine Barn Find!
Most restoration is buy new stuff to replace the old one. This guy restore almost everything, even the front suspension. Respect.
Basically restoration of a bike means restoring it the way it was when it was first bought
With bikes it's just like with lorries. You can disassemble and rebuild a lot. It changed a bit for lorries I think but for bikes you rather rebuild a brake caliper than replacing it and sending the old one to the manufacturer. I remember having my exam for becoming a diesel mechanic and one of the questions was describing how to rebuild an air spring bellow. We had it all, even riveting new pads onto the old brake shoe for a drum brake.
First time I've seen a mechanic who take note of important details while doing some repairs. This guy is a Legend.
Just the kind of restoration video I like to watch. less talk and more action, natural sound, no exaggeration! Keep up the good work mate.
No shitty royalty free trap music blasting either.
Thank you for bringing this beautiful machine back to life!!! It's perfect!!!! Love the yellow!! Everyone wants red but yellow is best!!!!
This is my types of videos NGL.. 40 to 1 Hour long restorations.. no sound track, straight up Voice over with a little bit of saturation.. this is beautiful
straight to the point, attention to details, good work and skills, no shitty music, pure explanation about the restoration progress... kudos to you sir, can't wait for ur next projetc videos... big thanks... 🎉
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it :)
Z,
😊😊¹
It's the "no shitty music" for me. Please all builders, stop putting music on your videos.
Glad no shitty music too
@@RRCRestoration love your toeless safety plimsolls nice work saving perhaps the most beautiful bike of the era
Amazing how you make it seem like you took care of this in under a week lol. You're an inspiration. Love these vids and I hope to see many more!
Thank you so much for your very generous donation and kind comment it means the world to me :)
Anyone who has ever done a similar project knows how much work is involved. And you always make it look so easy. Many Kudos and thanks for the video. 😊
Thank you so much for that comment :)
I’ve got a few Ducati’s, I don’t tend to trust others to work on them so I do it myself, but you could work on my bikes any day 👍

I enjoyed the video immensely, your knowledge and attention to detail is something to be proud of. I am 70 years old and hearing that bike makes we want to go riding again. Just don't tell my wife. Cheers
You made me cry hearing that magic sound! You made me remember my first Ducati!
Long format motorcycle restoration?! Yes! Thank you!
Enjoy :)
you're welcome
Ooo
Just finished watching this video whilst my wife is watching some rubbish Australian wedding show on TV.
This is the best thing I’ve seen on RUclips for ages.
How long did it take to complete. Phenomenal work and it’s amazing to me that you had the right tools to hand straight away, I’m always rummaging around through various drawers and toolboxes.
Hope the new owner is as happy with the bike as I was watching you put it all together.
Best wishes from Wales.
You obviously know your way around a Ducati! It is a pleasure to watch such a skilled mechanic/restorer.
Thank you, cheers :)
The 748 was always seen as the baby brother...
The 916 design was years ahead of it's time. One of those few cases. I had lots of Ducati model bikes, and my huge collection started from my first 916. Always loved this bike. And if money was no object, even the 748 would be in my garage today.
thanks for sharing this rebuild.
Thank you! You did it perfectly! Just like when I fix or restore or maintain equipment or my Land Rover. 1. blow dust away, 2. wash 3. dry, 4 start disassembling, and so on. And your shop is CLEAN! Thank you again!
It's hard to believe this bike was designed more than 30 years ago, what a beautiful machine! Stellar work on the restoration. Keep them coming. New subscriber here 👍
Ducati was one of the best bikes you could own back then
@@jasonlapp4559 still is

Remembering the introduction of 916 like it was yesterday.. time sure flies..
Even after all the years that have passed since this bike was designed it is still one of the best looking, and sounding machines of all time, and it was a joy to see you bring it back to its former glory, 😎👍. Eagerly awaiting the next rebuild.
Thank you, really glad you liked it :)
Sounds rough to me.
@@johnferguson40 It's a Ducati
@@4Kandlez I don't care what it is, gasses are leaking and the head is knocking.
@@johnferguson40 that's a dry clutch and think you'll find the gases are leaking from the end of the exhaust outlet 😂
OMFG - I'm at work and now I absolutely CAN NOT WAIT to get home and put this up on the big screen!!!!
Being in work has never stopped me!
I hope you enjoy it my friend :)
Watching it on the big screen now mate 👍
I left work early to watch.🤣
Wait till you see the comedy cam belt tensioner test, it is not to be missed 😂
I’m always amazed at people who can build/rebuild things. My dad could. My grandfather was a master mechanic and farmer and my great grandfather was a blacksmith. Me. I can ride a motorcycle. But don’t ask me to fix/repair. I can do oil changes and put gas in them and that’s it. Great video!
My dad rebuilt/repaired fine mechanical watches & wall/table clocks. As a child I used to watch him work.
As someone that appreciates cleanliness and organization I like how clean and organized your shop is.
Wow, you amaze me with the amount of work you put into, not only restoring the bikes/cars but also the hours editing the videos, it must take you hours of video work setting up shots, then putting them together. Thank you for your time and effort.
Thank you for your kind comment and for watching :) Yeah it does take a really long time to make these videos, I spend all day the workshop filming and working and then come home to spend all night editing the footage I basically work round the clock 7 days a week.
@@RRCRestoration Well thanks, you've only made me want to get another Ducati. Been Missing that sound.
what is the price?

Always a happy moment when I see you have released a new video. Stellar work as always.
One of the best hours of youtube content I've ever seen, truly inspiring! 👏🏼
Thank you so much :)
Hours? Omg this video is indeed 1h long 😅.
Just watched this, first time I've watched your videos, you're a perfectionist ! The time taken in the filming this must have at least tripled your actual job time . Switching seamlessly from one shot to another as you inserted a part takes a lot of time and forethought as a one man band !! Great explanations , and a fantastic job done . A well deserved restore for an iconic bike ! 👍 Keep up the good work pal ! 👏
Growing up I had an enduro 80 and my little brother thought it was funny to see me work on it more then i rode... This restoration is a gem.
Oh yeah, this guy knows his stuff, its a pleasure to watch. God I love your clean workshop, a must for good work. Thanks for the time to make this channel.
So nice and fulfilling to see a bike restoration in one episode!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)
Lol restoration my A**. That bike was basically mint, just dirty and some corrosion. The oil was virtually fresh still and the sparkplugs still good. This wasn't a restoration, this was a service 🤣🤣
I particularly loved the Zip tie holding the grinder to the bench lol. The amount of professionalism you show in all your video's is amazing and inspirational. This video was spectacular! Foam to dust years are like dog years, 7-1 ratio lol.
Haha glad you enjoyed it :)
This is by far my all-time favorite bike!
Had the little sister Cagiva Mito as my first bike, and completely fell in love with it.
I love watching someone bring relevance to what others would send to the scrap yard. Good show.
Nice job! Starting a brand new Ducati is already a challenge. You deserve respect.
I was very disheartened by your opening comments about how this restoration was going to go. I’m halfway through the video and it’s only bloody brilliant 🎉❤😅 you are doing such a bang up job on this old duck. And boy does she ever need it. It’s so good to see it wasn’t ragged to death before being abandoned. Absolutely love the Chanel and content. ❤
Thank you for leaving a comment and I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed the video :)
Just ran across your channel and just love what you are doing. Doesn't hurt that the 748 is my all time favorite. I have had several standard 748, a 748L and two 748RS. Having rebuilt all of them and raced a couple, your video filled me with many memories. Thanks
This is next level talent, and a true example of loving your job.
This guy's a genius in my opinion. It's just lovely to see a fellow Scot doing this ( given that we are the mothers of all invention and engineering) Go on my son.
Hands down one of the best restoration channels! You do every aspect of the build, you are very skilled.
you're too kind :)
A spectacular restoration for the abandoned Ducati 748 SPS! Truly a rediscovery from bygone years!
Probably the best restoration video of anything I've ever seen. Love that we see start to finish in one video, not spread over weeks and weeks. If that's not a full restoration I don't know what is. Beautiful. I know, will go and watch the 916 video now 🙂
Another masterclass from the boss .
Great to see your cinematography skills adding to the overall polished article .
Love the test ride and on board footage, which finishes up the video perfectly.
Well done , top notch job from a truly skilled biker .
Can't wait for the next bike project !
Probably the best restoration video I have ever watched. Thank you.
This motorcycle is an ultimate brilliant! One of the most stunning sportbikes ever built! The work is perfect! True pleasure to watch!
Without doubt, the most interesting bike restoration project I've watched to date. Superbly executed and simply explained, together with your excellent knowledge and skills. Last, but not least, what a fantastic project bike to work on. I didn't think it was possible to raise it from the dead, but you proved me wrong. I'll be watching your other restoration videos with interest. Very well done!
Awesome job as always and certainly a lot more work went in to this than was shown on video, for a non full resto the bike looked immaculate when finished.
Cheers buddy, Glad to see that you know exactly how much work is involved in restoring these bikes.
What a joy to watch this process. So many specialty tools, so many parts. I’m a technician and it looks daunting. Impressive.
It's hard to believe these bikes were first unveiled in 94! They look brand new still! If someone had an example that was in this condition it would be easy to think it was a brand new bike! Truly a timeless design!
I remember back when my mate pulled up to the guardroom on his new 748 and it sounded broken. "It's the clutch plates" he said 😂
Hell of a bike, as is the 916 sp. The memory of the sound droning out of the pipes when engine braking coming down hill still gives me tears and goosebumps.
A right nice job you've done there, mate! Good on you and hope the owner treats her good and rides safe 🖖
Wow. I just found this channel and I am already a fan. It is so relaxing and satisfying to watch. Thank you for all your effort. You got yourself a new subscriber and I seriously think you deserve more.
i really appreciate how organised this man is.
This is going to be a great restoration. These are great bikes, and it’s a shame to see this beauty in such disrepair. But I know you will give this bike the proper restoration it deserves.
I almost bought a 748 SPS many years ago. The deal didn't go through in the end, but I did end up with an Ducati ST4. Same engine really, just a 916. Great bikes indeed. I have a Ducati Monster 1200 now, but still, I some times miss the rattling of that dry clutch. A friend of mine asked one time if there was something wrong with my bike, all I told him was Ducati, as if that explained everything.
Coś wspaniałego bardzo przyjemnie się to ogląda dobrze że są jeszcze tacy ludzie jak ty❤
Woooow !!
One hour plus RRC !!
Best Wednesday in 2023 so far ❤
Enjoy :)
This has been SUCH a treat! An hour's worth of Mr. RRC doing his spectacular thing. I've spread the watching of it over several opportune times when I can just sit and disappear in it for a while. Kind of a shame I've finished it, so hurry up and drop us another soon dude 😁. Ooh aren't we demanding 😂. You shouldn't be so bloody good, that's the problem 😉👉👉👉. Thanks man 🙏. 😎
It's bad to see in what initial conditions you can find a piece of art like this 748 sps. It's beautiful and even ugly at the same time to see in which conditions a restored bike that anyone can buy is in the origin, and then how can it be restored. I prefer good and preserved pieces to totally restored ones. A big thumb up from Italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
First time watching any of your videos. It was an amazing journey watching you restore this beauty. I have never watched a 1hr long video ever before, this was the first ever.
This looks like an absolute pleasure to work on. Considering it is a 'partial' restoration it turned out amazing. Any more than this level would have made it a show queen. Kudos to your skills and attention to detail. Keep doing what you are doing 😁
I have 40 years riding bikes and have always ridden them as if I had just purchased, just exactly the way you gently tested your machine, just shifting gently and smoothly with low rpms, that way you can really feel the engine like a cat purring
Yes, I also like to feel the engine by gently using it ( most of the time ). Only occasionally I ride bike fast for a short distance.
So, I totally understand what you mean.
An absolutely enthralling watch - I loved every minute of that. Top work Sir.
I don't have a shop right now, omg it is soothing to watch this. thank you.
Amazing that there are so many barns in the world that unknown to anyone have been hiding a priceless classic car or bike for so many years until now… awesome..
Just found this channel. What a gem! And I loved the torch, the spilled gas, bandanna peel, and the exposed wires !
Some of the best video editing I've ever seen on RUclips! I hope folks appreciate there is almost as much work in the editing as the restoration. Superbly done!
Agree 100%
What an absolute enjoyment to watch your videos. Proper restoration and I love how careful you deal with every piece!
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
ONE OF THE BEST MOST SATISFYING VIDEOS ON RUclips!!! REALLY COOL!!!
Thank you very much :)
I think the owner made the right call, the bike is safe and looks fantastic, well done again sir.
Simply amazing!!!
Thank you for all the great hints and for taking us for the ride of this restoration. 🎉
Great save, a very informative video, and what a beautiful cycle... and she sure sounds terrific too! Many thanks.
Absolutely great job! Not only on the motorcycle but also amazing video editing! Congrats from Portugal 🙂👍🇵🇹
So classy from the illustrations from the narrations to the actual restoration man 10 out of 10 rebuild perfect amongst anything else. Not to mention it’s an amazing Ducati. This guy could rebuild a lawnmower and id watch it.
Incredibly relaxing video to watch of a professional bloke making something once beautiful, beautiful again. Great editing and narration style. Not too much, not too little.
Congratulations on the success of the work and your channel!
Wow. What a beautiful job you did, seriously admirable. Detail oriented and done right, resulting in a fantastic bike. Thanks for sharing!
Sua habilidade é incrível e você ainda ajuda a preservar a história, parabéns!!
So true. This bike looks amazing with its new lease on life.
Another great build! Despite the limitations in the build brief you managed to make it look stunning. Well done!
One of the most straight forward and realistic vidios i have yet seen.
Everything tested cleaned made good with no holes barred.Had I been the age where a motorscycle was my mode ot transport, which it was cor years,
I would be pleased as punch to know that this guy did the job as he has all the right tools for the job and uses them, really great video of very much interested.
Bilds have changed since my day, my best nile was a triton Triumph 750, having started with a two xtroke 250 arial leader.
That always stayed in my love of bikes as being a two stroke it was easy to clean, an nice bike to ride and very forgiving, and most repyable.
I recall taking all the fairing off and coating the inside with a paint they used inside condensers then respraying with the body paint, so they would never rust, kept everything clean inside as well, love the get my hand on one now, but dare say it would break the bank these days, and at 78 i dare say it would only be a fair weather means of transport.
Thanks for a really interesting video!!!! N
Congratulations! you improve on every video. Even with a partial restoration it looks like new or better than new😀
Thank you so much :)
Great work buddy everything you did was spot on - I always watch these videos and end up seeing all the mistakes...you know your stuff clearly. It brought back memories of my 999, so many similarities on the engine/belts etc. And I've ridden that road a 1000 times so we're in the same part of the world! Good luck
love the content you make on here . awesome work you did on this 748 SPS even not being full resto still looks like a million bucks!!!!!
Love your unconventional way of fixing the bike. It simple and very very cost-effective. Unlike other motorbikes restoration and repairers I have seen on RUclips
This is pure restoration, done with passion and patience. Respect 🙏
Perfect job. Not only the restoration, also the filming. 👍
Thank you, glad you liked it :)
Outstanding looking bike and a fantastic video, man! Love the hour-long format, too!
Cheers for all the effort you put into each video - absolutely sterling work, mate! 🍻🤘💜
I'm definitely with you. The length of this video was perfect. Also the quality of work was outstanding.
There is something very satisfying about this. Great job
Ever impressed with your seemingly ruthless efficiency. A timeless iconic shape, even if yellow is an utter abomination of a colour for a Ducati outside those early shaft desmo singles. Two valvers sound better than fours!
The timeless beauty and iconic sound of this bike continue to captivate enthusiasts even after all these years. Your restoration work brought it back to its former glory, showcasing its true potential. I can't wait to see what you have in store for your next rebuild project! Keep up the amazing work! 🏍🔧👌
Very well said.
Thank you for saving/restoring this piece of art! Awesome job! Very inspiring!
Fabulous stuff. Always so wonderful to see time, effort and prodigious skill put into restoring beautiful machinery that would otherwise decay beyond repair. Well filmed and produced too. I once almost bought a 748 back in '02 but made the silly mistake of riding my Blackbird to the dealer. At the time I felt like my pushbike had more power. How silly, wrong, (young and stupid) I was back then! Cheers mate from Australia - Dave
To me, power is not everything.
That has to be one of the most brilliant restoration videos I’ve ever watched.
Well done such amazing talent I stumbled across this, although I don’t own a motorbike I’ve always liked the Ducatis.
Well done you for making the video and sharing it 😎👍
True master at restoration his knowledge and craftsmansip totally amazing and to work on such a special piece of machinery.a joy to watch.
Você é um artista, ficou top essa máquina. Um abraço do Brasil.
Looks and sounds great. Excellent job and great camera work. Thanks very much.
Great restoration, Quick question will you be restoring the other bikes that were sitting in that barn with the 748? Would love to see you restore them and give them a new life.Great vid btw keep up the good work 👍
I love these no bs vids, and the Scottish accent ( I lived in Edinburgh for 2 years ) is superb !! Cheers from Australia :)
You're making it look easy, but surely enough we can all see and appreciate the allround craftsmanship.
Plus now I have a very good general idea what this duc looks like naked. Thanks!
