  • Quick video on my initial thoughts of Suzuki's 140 fly by wire that I recently had fitted to my Raider 18 Fisherman. A window in the weather at Luce Bay enabled me to get a lot of the running in process done and provide my first views on the engine. Hopefully this video is helpful to anyone thinking about changing or upgrading. As always thanks for watching. Tight lines, FCA

    I just swapped out my 150 HP Johnson 2 stroke for this 140 HP Suzuki. I live in MN so have not had a chance to run it yet. Can't wait to get it out.

      @@bgronni1 how did the new Suzuki compare. Im thinking of making the same change

      @@dschlang I decided to change mainly because my 150 Johnson was having issues. And since the company went out of business, it is getting hard to find new parts. Had to use some used items on it. This issue will only get worse over time. I have been running the 140 HP Suzuki now and I love it. It starts quickly and so quiet. I may have lost a couple MPH at top end vs the 150 HP, but It is very easy on gas and just runs like a dream. I do not regret the swap at all.

      @@bgronni1 thanks for the response really appreciate it. How’s the low end torque compared to the 150? My boats somewhat heavy, 2000lb. Also did you get the fly by wire?

    Very nice … smooth and quiet. Fly by wire must be quite an upgrade over mechanical. Not many in stock here in the US

      Yes it’s a nice engine Ray that’s for sure. The fly by is unbelievably sensitive compared to mechanical. If anything on the choppy days it’s almost too sensitive! Whereabouts in the states are you?

      @@fullcircleangling yes, should run nice. Mostly inshore fish … snook, trout, tarpon and reds. If the day isn’t bad, head out to reefs for snapper, grouper etc. jump on a friend’s bigger boat to try for dolphin ( mahi) and sailfish.

    that's a lovely engine..and also that fuel economy was epic!! how do you like the raider as an all round fishing boat?

    • @fullcircleangling
      @fullcircleangling  2 года назад

      The fuel economy is very good to be fair. The Raider is very dry and the high gunnels feel very safe. Compared to other similar class boats I think there’s a lot of deck space, being able to walk into shelter is very helpful too. Only drawback for me is there’s a bit of flex and slam due to the hull shape. On balance, for me, I’d go for a Raider over a 16/75 or another cuddy style boat. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍

    On these B series, Do yo have to remove the skirt of the motor to replace the oil filter?
    I find it very tedious on The A series.

      Hi Patrick, I don’t unfortunately. But what I can tell you is that it’s whatever comes from Suzuki as standard as there’s been no tweaks since I bought it this year. Hopefully that helps?
